00:00And it'll be second and three. Without a huddle. Prescott, second down and three. Back to throw.
00:07Standing and looking and firing over the middle and that ball is caught.
00:11No, it's picked off! It is picked off!
00:16Through the hands of Ferguson.
00:18A kickball that went from Ferguson to Anzalone.
00:23Certainly one of the more frustrating home losses in recent memory is the Cowboys falling to two and three.
00:30On the year. And the Tampa Bay Buccaneers getting their first win of the season.
00:34They improved to one and four. Cowboys losing 24-16 here.
00:38Zach Wolchuk alongside the Super Bowl winning Seattle.
00:40Brian Baradis live from the Miller Lite Field Club. Brought to you by Pepsi.
00:43Pepsi postgame show here. Believe it or not, when we went to halftime, Cowboys had a 10-7 lead.
00:49Two plays into the second half. Tampa Bay goes 86 yards on a wild run and then an end around
00:55to Emeka Ibuka to go up 14-10.
00:57Cowboys had an interception. Tampa Bay cashes in on that. They go up 21-10.
01:02Then you have a fumble on the unsuing kickoff. First fumble on a kick return in Kevante Turpin's career.
01:09Tampa Bay is able to get a field goal off that. It's 24-10.
01:12Cowboys turn the football over on downs.
01:14A 12-play 41-yard drive sets up Tampa Bay right outside of the Cowboys' goal line.
01:21They go for it. They don't get it. Dallas then with a 99-yard drive.
01:26Dak Prescott finding George Pickens. Makes it 24-16. But they go for two, Brian.
01:31They don't get the two-point conversion. They're able to force a three and out.
01:35Deron Bland had a play that we've seen him make so many times in his career.
01:39He breaks up a pass on third down. Had it in his hands and he had it ready to run
01:43it back into the end zone for a pick six.
01:45He drops it. Cowboys then with still an opportunity.
01:49They're marching down the field and you heard it right there from Brad.
01:53As Dak trying to find Jake Ferguson. It doinks right off his hands up in the air.
01:57Alex Zanzeloni with the interception.
01:59And that's all she wrote as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were able to kneel it out 24-16.
02:05Dallas loses at home. They're now 1-2 technically at home.
02:08Which includes the Rio game.
02:10The loss to the Ravens in Brazil.
02:14But this one, my goodness, the score probably not indicative of just how bad and deflating this game felt, Brian.
02:21Yeah, the turnovers, the penalties, the problem with the big plays.
02:27This game played right into the way that Tampa wanted to play this football game with their quarterback.
02:33And so they were able to protect him enough.
02:39They couldn't get him down when they did get pressure.
02:42There were some plays where third and 21, they convert.
02:48So it's just really unfortunate that Dallas defensively, but this is kind of where we've seen Dallas defensively all year.
02:57Maybe not so much with all the penalties and stuff, but that was just not a well-played game defensively.
03:05Especially with a quarterback making his second start.
03:08Give Tampa a lot of credit for the way that they played.
03:11I thought that Dallas would be able to get some pressure off that right side.
03:14They didn't get nearly enough.
03:16Tampa doubled you on the time of possession.
03:18I think it got a little bit better when Dallas got the ball at the end.
03:22But overall, though, the score was not really indicative of really what a butt-kicking this really was from the
03:29Tampa Bay side.
03:29Well, the Bucs' first drive of the game, and Dallas got the ball on offense, and it looked great.
03:34I mean, they're humming along.
03:35Dallas finding George Pickens.
03:36They score.
03:37Javante Williams goes in for another touchdown.
03:39He's had a bunch this year.
03:41And that first quarter touchdown, he became the third player in franchise history to rush for six touchdowns in the
03:47first five games of the season,
03:48joining Emmitt Smith and Calvin Hill as the only other two back.
03:51So it was great.
03:52I mean, it's 7-0.
03:52You're feeling good about yourself.
03:54And then Tampa Bay went on a 10-minute, 51-second time of possession touchdown drive.
03:59One of the longest drives this year in the NFL.
04:00One of the longest drives it's been in a while.
04:02Longest opening drive by time of possession by any team since the Ravens in Week 2 of 2022 against Miami.
04:10That's courtesy of our buddy Todd Archer with that nugget.
04:13And that really is probably going to skew the time of possession a little bit.
04:16Yeah.
04:17But that was exactly what Tampa needed.
04:20And, you know, Tampa, I can say give them credit for the way that they were able to, you know,
04:25they came in.
04:26They needed to run the football.
04:27They needed to protect their quarterback.
04:29The quarterback, when he had to make throws, you know, Dallas, I don't think Dallas challenged him enough to make
04:35those throws.
04:35But the running game was just where it needed to be.
04:39And then their ability to scramble and break some tackles and stuff.
04:42The penalties on the first drive.
04:44I mean, it's just very deflating the way that the Dallas defense played throughout this game.
04:48Post-game show brought to you by Pepsi Football's back.
04:50Tailgating deserves Pepsi and AT&T.
04:53Connecting changes everything.
04:54The Bucs had 173 rushing yards after contact, Brian.
04:59Yeah.
04:59In their win tonight against the Cowboys.
05:01That's from our friends at Sumer Sports.
05:02That's the fourth most yards after contact for any team in a game this season.
05:08And when we were talking on G-Bag on the flagship leading into pregame,
05:12and then you and Eric on the pregame, what was one of the big things coming in?
05:15You've got to tackle well.
05:17You've got to tackle well.
05:18They're going to run a lot of screens.
05:19They're going to try and run the football.
05:20You've got a quarterback in his second start that's a rookie that's going to want to take off and run.
05:24You've got to be able to tackle.
05:26Boy, the tackling was sloppy.
05:27It was very, very poor.
05:29And, you know, again, they tried a lot of different things with the rotations.
05:32It seemed like watching it from the press box there,
05:35they're just constantly trying to keep guys in.
05:37But Tampa did a great job.
05:40Offensively, I keep saying this, but, you know,
05:42they had to be pleased with the way their quarterback played, the running game.
05:47I mean, Dallas really didn't have an answer for it.
05:49A couple times the big plays, you know, down the field, you know, guys falling down,
05:55guys wide open.
05:57It was just a poor effort overall.
05:59Defensively, I don't mean effort, just poor execution for the Cowboys when it came to,
06:05when they needed to get off the field, they just could not get off the field, you know,
06:08nearly enough there.
06:10Yeah, I mean, three third downs converted on that opening possession.
06:13There was a bunch of penalties as well.
06:15It's kind of the perfect storm of exactly how Tampa Bay,
06:18what was the formula they needed to win the game?
06:19They needed to run the ball.
06:21Right.
06:21They needed you to commit penalties and hurt yourself and also turn the football over.
06:24And they got all that.
06:26They got all that.
06:26And credit to them, they capitalized off of this turnover.
06:29It's so weird how this game ended up, though, with Dallas with a chance, you know,
06:32maybe tie this game.
06:34If Todd Bowles just kicks that field goal,
06:36and I understand you and I were having this discussion.
06:38Well, some of that's probably just frustration.
06:40Well, probably the Cowboy fan to me.
06:42It's like they're not going to stop them, you know.
06:44In reality, it's probably sinful what Todd Bowles did.
06:47Oh, no, he absolutely gave Dallas an opportunity with as poorly as they played.
06:53He gave them an opportunity.
06:55That ball doesn't go clanging off Fergie.
06:57You know, there's probably going to be, you know,
06:58you're looking at maybe a touchdown the next play, next two plays,
07:01and then a two-point play, and now all of a sudden Todd Bowles is looking like an idiot right
07:06there.
07:06You're talking about, but, you know, he probably looked at you and said, you know,
07:09my defense isn't going to give up a 99-yard drive, or he was trying to end the game right
07:14there.
07:14You know, that's, I can understand why Dallas went for the two-point play myself.
07:18You know, the way the defense was, you know, they didn't get a chance to just end it right there.
07:23But, you know, Todd Bowles really, he gave you an opportunity to win that football game.
07:29The football gods just kind of were smiling with him at the very end to allow the turnovers.
07:34The turnovers were huge.
07:35The penalties at the time that they got, the penalties were huge as well.
07:40And it was just a very uncharacteristic offensive performance by the Cowboys.
07:45And Dak, just outside of that opening drive, it seemed like he never really found his rhythm.
07:49Yeah, really poor in the first half.
07:51Some of the throws that he made, you know, weren't even close.
07:54Well, the first half against the Blitz, he was one of eight.
07:57Right.
07:57Just four yards.
07:58Right.
07:58So, and Dak and his career has been one of the better quarterbacks in the league.
08:03Yeah, and you knew that that's what, you know, you knew that that's what Tampa was going to do.
08:07The one thing, even on a short week, Todd Bowles was going to come in here and blitz.
08:11That was going to be the question, you know, how much was he going to blitz?
08:14And, you know, he went off to Dak quite a bit there, and it affected him.
08:18And the first half, Dallas wasn't nearly good enough as they needed to be in that half.
08:22You know, and they had some opportunities, especially after the first drive.
08:25You know, they had some of those situations where it just couldn't sustain, couldn't, and they just kept, you know,
08:30and they were playing behind that way.
08:33And it was just a bad effort overall.
08:36Yeah, it really was.
08:38I mean, it's one of those where you thought, okay, you got a great opportunity to maybe try and stack
08:42some wins together here.
08:43Yeah.
08:43You got a winless team coming in.
08:45They're playing with a backup quarterback.
08:47That's never, oh, there's no fear in two wins in the NFL.
08:51Yeah, you played right into their hands with the way they were.
08:54And he played a good game.
08:55Yeah.
08:55I mean, you start looking at the schedule, and okay, all right, you found a way to get a big
08:59win on the road in Houston.
09:01It is a difficult, difficult test right now that they've had the three games in 11 or 12 days.
09:07And, you know, Shottie was talking about it leading into it.
09:09Well, people don't want to hear that.
09:11No, of course not.
09:11People don't want to hear that, and he's going to say it at the podium, so just get ready for
09:15that.
09:15I mean, he's going to talk about his team and all.
09:18But I hope he talks about the fact that they've got some issues on defense.
09:22They've got some really, really big issues on defense, you know, with the way that the Buccaneers came and ran
09:29the football
09:30and then those huge plays that, you know, the Buccaneers.
09:33Just massive chunk runs.
09:34Massive chunk runs, some big passes.
09:38Like I say, third and 21, and you give up a first down.
09:42That's inexcusable.
09:42And I believe that was after the fumble, right?
09:44And they're able to get a sack finally from Ezraku.
09:47Then that second down play, nothing happens.
09:49And then third and 21, you're thinking like, okay, we're leaking oil here, but maybe you can get off the
09:54field.
09:54And then, no, they're able to convert, and they get another field goal on the board.
09:58And to make matters worse, Tyler Guyton leaves the game.
10:01He's got a back injury.
10:03So, Broderick Jones has to come in for the final drive of that.
10:06And Tyler Guyton's been one of the best players all year.
10:09What a story.
10:10Offense and defense.
10:11Absolutely.
10:12And that is, I mean, that's crushing.
10:13Hopefully, that's nothing serious.
10:15And he's able to come back and play against rebate.
10:16C.D. with the quad.
10:17And then I'm sitting up there with you.
10:18You see C.D. Lamb continuously coming out of the game.
10:21And then it's fourth and two.
10:23They go for it, and they throw it over the middle to Turpin.
10:25And it is a pass that's behind him, and Turpin's not able to make the catch.
10:29And you're wondering, like, well, okay, if that's C.D. Lamb, but C.D. Lamb's got the quad.
10:34Right.
10:34So, he's injured.
10:35He's banged up.
10:36Revel, again, has an injury.
10:38They've gotten a rant out.
10:39I mean, to make matters worse, obviously, it's a very disappointing home loss.
10:43But now you're possibly, we'll wait and see.
10:46But those are potential key injuries if those are anything serious.
10:50Yeah, the football god's definitely not smiling on you in the injury situation right now with this team.
10:55877-881-1053, the number to call, the number to text,
10:59and the official Pepsi postgame show of your Dallas Cowboys.
11:01877-881-1053 after a very disappointing Thursday night football home loss here
11:08against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who now have their first win of the season, 24-16, the final.
11:14The Cowboys now falling again under .500 at 2-3.
11:18Now, I guess the bright spot is the NFC East.
11:21Doesn't look like anybody, as Babe said at the end, is going to run away with that one.
11:25I don't think a lot of our colors or textures are really going to care much
11:29about looking ahead at the rest of the big picture because this one stinks.
11:32Well, your offense, you know, you kind of saw what happened when your offense is off.
11:37Yeah.
11:37That's, you know, when you're not scoring 30 points.
11:40You need a complimentary football team.
11:41You need that, exactly.
11:43To step up for you.
11:43Yeah, and the defense just, the defense is in bad, bad shape.
11:48Right now, injury-wise, I think there's some doubt about the coordinator.
11:51Maybe, you know, his first time out, there's some things that are probably he's questioning,
11:56maybe the staff's questioning.
11:57I think the front office might be questioning some of the stuff, too.
12:00Hopefully, they kind of get this ironed out.
12:04But being down as many guys as they are on defense, it's very, very hard to play that way.
12:09But you're kind of seeing, you're kind of living the young coordinator right now is what you're doing.
12:14And that part of it is pretty difficult to deal with.
12:18And there, the corner you just read before, Joey Porter Jr., who was great in his debut.
12:23He ends up, he's sick.
12:25He's getting taken out of the stadium.
12:27He's got somebody holding a trash can for him, and he's vomiting,
12:30and he's ruled inactive right before the game.
12:32So just didn't help.
12:34No, it absolutely didn't.
12:35It absolutely didn't.
12:36And 877-881-1053, we'll take your calls and texts.
12:40We'll also hear from your head coach, Brian Schottenheimer, Dak Prescott,
12:44Bobby Belter, Cowboys insider, Brad Sham, the voice of your Cowboys.
12:47You're listening to the Dallas Cowboys Radio Network.
