12:36But before we dive into that, let's take a look at what's making today's figures as of September 15th, 2026.
12:44Number of operations, 13,360.
12:48Number of targets prior to offenders, 3,400.
12:52Searches conducted, 4,580.
12:55Traffic operations, 8,326.
12:59Total persons arrested, 5,939.
13:03Total persons charged, 1,408.
13:07Firearms recovered, we are seeing an increase with the shotguns, giving us a total of 323.
13:14Ammunition recovered, we are seeing no increase there, but we remain at 6,459.
13:21And dangerous drug seized, we are seeing an increase with the cannabis.

13:26We are still seeing drugs and we are still seeing firearm.
13:28I believe the numbers will change.
13:30Of course.
13:31Soon again because of the seizure.
13:32And then listening to the news, quite a number of firearms were seized in different incidents.
13:39I think it was about four firearms, different cars.
13:41So, you know, we continue to do our jobs.
13:44We continue to have our operations.
13:46We continue to really put, to engage in activities that result in reduction in gang violence, crimes, robberies, eradication of
13:55drug drugs, crime suppression on the whole.
13:57As we, you know, do our best to make sure Antibagos are a safer place.
14:01And, you know, we have an increase in the sanctioned strength, Ms. Osborne.
14:04Yes, well.
14:04So, very soon we already started training more officers so that we could boost the resources, the human resources of
14:11the police service.
14:12We are doing more training.
14:14We are, you know, just really doing our best to make sure that we have the appropriate managers to manage
14:19these young officers when they come in.
14:21So that they would not stray, you know.
14:24Okay, so where we know where we'll be getting in the conversation of ending of the SOE on the 17th.
14:31Where is the TGPS with this conversation that people want to know?
14:34It's almost like we're seeing you all using this as a crutch.

14:39It gave us an additional benefit with respect to the application for PDOs.

14:45And the not having to really get a warrant to search into somebody's home search and seize.
14:53And I'm certain that a lot of the law-abiding citizens were not really affected by the SOE.

15:04There are a lot of persons who are wondering, hey, would the police abuse the authority?
15:08However, you would see that the activities were really targeted towards violent crime offenders and stuff like that who would
15:16have, who we know as known offenders and even the new ones coming up.

15:20But the police service existed before SOE.
15:23And we always have plans.
15:25We always have assessments.
15:26Continuous, continuous, continuous.
15:28Because we know our job and our function is to be that premier organization in Toronto because it pertains to
15:34safety and security, the premier organization.
15:39And we know to be the premier organization, the kind of work that goes into it.
15:44And, you know, we just want the public to know that the SOE wasn't the be-all and the end
15:50-all of everything.
15:51And we, as we speak, more operations are being planned and we are looking at ways to pivot to maintain
16:00this high intensity of policing that we see.
16:03We know Christmas is coming.
16:05We know that straight out of Christmas is carnival because we have a short season.
16:10I believe we have a few more long weekends to come as well.
16:15So we are here.
16:17We have to be a carnival coming soon.
16:19So we have a lot of things that we still need to plan for going forward.
16:25And when we speak about that, I want to just assure the public about a few things.
16:33When you look at our responsibility towards the public going forward, you know, and we want the public to understand
16:44that.
16:44When we look at our promise of the Chiantiligo Police Service and our commitment.
16:50What are we here for?
16:51We are here to serve and protect.
16:54This duty is ours.
16:57And we do not share it out.
17:00Hence the reason I refer to us as the premier organization.
17:03We are answerable for your safety and for enforcing the law fairly, without fear or favor.
17:15And that's an oath that we take.
17:18Yes.
17:18That's a commitment.
17:19The renewed commitment to the public.
17:21Well, it's always an oath.
17:22Without fear or an affection, malice or a little bit.
17:24That's part of the oath that each officer takes.

17:26We will treat every citizen with respect, courtesy, and professionalism, regardless of where you live or who you are.
17:34So, regardless of what bill comes after, maybe a reintroduction of Zozo, because I know there's discussion taking place.

17:42We will continue to treat you with respect and dignity.
17:45We acknowledge, and I want you all to understand, we acknowledge that we are not without fault.
17:53So, where we would have fault you, these, there are officers who have fallen short of the standard, and citizens
18:02who have been disappointed, and yes, we know at times we do disappoint the citizens, by the very service we
18:09want to protect them.
18:10We do not make excuses for it, and we do not hide for it.
18:15However, we are actively addressing it.
18:21How are we addressing it, Ms. Husbands?
18:23Through discipline.
18:25Training.
18:26So, you will see we have the customer service policy, and there's a remedial aspect of the customer service policy.
18:33So, we ask the public, when you receive bad customer service, and police would have done you something that you
18:37think is wrong, we ask that you report it.
18:41Where do you report it?
18:43Professional standards bureau.
18:44Where any officer breaches the trust placed in him or her, that officer will be held accountable.
18:51If an officer has wronged you, we want to hear it.
18:55We want to hear it.
18:57Report it to the station, or to the professional standards bureau, or to the police complaints authority.
19:03A complaint against one officer is not an attack on the Trina and Tobago police service.
19:11It helps us to serve you better, so we can see where we went wrong, because we are not perfect
19:16police officers come from this society.
19:19We will explain the law, where you are unsure of your rights, of your obligations, and you ask us, through
19:29our weekly press briefings, through Beyond the Tape, this program that Whitney and I are on as we speak, through
19:36our community and school engagements, and through our social media platforms.
19:41We will keep improving, yes, we will keep improving, because our aim is not to simply police you, but to
19:50serve you to your satisfaction.
19:53This is what we commit to do for you.
19:55So when we have, like, the community meetings, the tongue meetings, we ask that you go out and say how
20:00you feel.
20:00And keep reminding us where we would have fallen short, where we have the station councils, we are asking persons
20:06not to shy away from these initiatives.

20:13So you are part, there's a hierarchy, there's an organizational chart for the station council, where we have a chairperson,
20:20a vice chairperson, a secretary.
20:22So, you know, we bring the community in to the police in that aspect of it, so that we could
20:28better serve you, and we want that partnership.
20:29So, as we have said, bringing the community in, so what are the expectations from the citizens of Trinidad and
20:35Tobago after the SOE from the CTPS?
20:37Ah, Ms. Husbands, I hope that they want to hear it, because I'm happy that you've asked, Ms. Husbands, to
20:44obey the law.

29:02That drug bust, while six is in prison, the magistrate and the judge basically said the police investigation was fraud
29:17and completed.
29:18I want to know how, and where, and where, and how the police will do the preventive action to avoid
29:31a magistrate saying the same thing about the police service as of today.
29:43We have new leadership, we have a new commissioner of police, and I'm hoping those officers who were in that
29:53drug bust is not in the leadership of the police.
29:55I hope that was correct, that action was done, and to remove those officers who might have been competent.

30:07You touched on quite a few things there.
30:10And you know, public perception is something that we take close at heart.
30:14You know, I know you all may think that, you know, we don't care, but we do care.
30:18Because, I mean, if you perceive us in a more positive light, we would get more information from you.
30:25We'd have a more cohesive relationship with you.
30:27The public perception is one of the things that we always, you know, we always pay that attention to.
30:34When you look at officers, we measure their performance by way of their performance, their PMAS, performance management appraisal system.
30:41We have acts, we have policies now where to go into particular unit specialist section, you are mandated to take
30:49polygraph tests.
30:52Even though the science is not 100%, it gives you a gauge.
30:55With respect to cases, we have really revamped our entire case management system now where you have case management offices
31:05with staff attached to each division
31:09where your file, your case file, big, small, in between, must pass through certain processes before it ends up by
31:16the court prosecutor and before the court.
31:19So the entire system as to how we present a case before the court, we now have things like sufficiency,
31:23hearing, and we are given timelines to it.
31:27Let me say, you have a matter and you need two more, the person charged, but you have to get
31:31the evidence from forensics.
31:36You are given a timeline for that now.
31:38So that we are making sure that everything is within a particular time frame.
31:43And when everything is ready, we have a continuous efficiency hearing until they get, all right, let's start, date for
31:49trial is this date.
31:51So the entire system has been revamped and we now have a more robust and stringent disciplinary aspect
31:58and engage with respect to officers who miss court or have a poor attendance record with respect to courts.
32:06Our disciplinary process is very robust as it pertains to that.
32:09As a matter of fact, the prosecutor must inform us and serve the requisite disciplinary forms
32:14when persons miss court and matters are dismissed.

38:49I charged a guy once for
38:52cocaine in his shoes.
38:54We have had plenty instances of swallows
38:59by any means necessary
39:01to get it out of the countries.
39:03And that's why we tell persons,
39:04speak to your loved ones,
39:06speak to their relatives,
39:07because it is not worth it.
39:10I've seen persons die
39:11who would have swallowed pellets
39:14and it ruptured inside of them
39:16because that dose was crazy.
39:20So, the real gold caller,
39:22and I hear you,
39:23but a lot of it goes out of the country.
