03:26Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago.
03:42And those of you who are locked on globally, this is Beyond Detail.
03:44We do apologize for the late start.
03:47I'm your host, Whitney Husbands.
03:48And I hope that you all had an enjoyable weekend.
03:50Because we are now kicking into another level for the carnival season.
03:54And let's just say persons are out and about along with the TTPS.
03:58Now, over the weekend on Friday, we saw that the Red House was busy and very active.
04:04Going straight into the morning.
04:05Because the bill has officially passed.
04:08ZO-SO.
04:09All right?
04:10Zone of Special Operations.
04:12Remember that.
04:12ZO-SO.
04:13And let's just say that they are making sure that persons understand the importance of making the entire of Trinidad and Tobago a safe place.
04:22Now, today is Monday.
04:23And when it's Monday, we have a gentleman who works just as hard or even hard, I believe.
04:28Seven days plus.
04:29And if there were extra hours or extra minutes, he would take that opportunity to continue working extremely hard.
04:36We'd like to welcome our official captain, as usual, to the show on a Monday, Captain Rambra.
04:40Captain, how are you this evening?
04:41Well, I'm fine, thank you.
04:44And it was a difficult week for Hunter's Search and Rescue Team.
04:49But let me say to our viewers on Beyond the Tape and TB6, by extension, a pleasant good evening.
04:55But Whitney, let me just comment on the ZO-SO that you spoke to earlier last week, Monday.
05:03I said that something was expected to come into effect depending on the expiration of the state of emergency.
05:12And this has taken place.
05:14And, you know, so something was expected.
05:17And because it was needed to replace the...
05:22Yes, so this is coming to an end on the 31st.
05:24But I stand here proud, Whitney, because many persons, including myself, know that I'm getting older.
05:34I'm still as fit.
05:36I'm still as thoughtful as ever.
05:39But I stand here proud.
05:41One, a very expensive course we undertake from time to time is wilderness risk management training.
05:49And we were able to source the funds through some kind sponsors.
05:54And we entered into the classroom on the weekend.
05:56On Saturday in particular, this group here has been with us for almost five years.
06:02Our teammates there.
06:03And we did what's called a recertification course.
06:06So anybody looking on at Hunter's search and rescue team, we're not just a Viking group of people serious about what we do.
06:15Safety of our members are important.
06:17And the safety of those who we rescue are very important.
06:22Trust me, we know how we do it.
06:25And I'm very proud of that.
06:26And the second thing I'm proud of, which I spoke to initially, and you raise your eyebrow,
06:31is the fact that I think we've now conquered the succession planning.
06:36And I'm seeing members going out on their own on missions and conducting themselves in an appropriate manner,
06:44keeping safety in mind and achieving the task.
06:47So, therefore, I am proud of that.
06:50And it was something we're approaching five years in February 2020, this year.
06:56And I'm really proud of that.
06:58And I'm seeing the team members getting out there and getting work done to my satisfaction.
07:04And that, to me, is what makes me a proud person today.
07:09But over the last week, Whitney, we had Mr. Kunji, Saadev Kunji.
07:15He's a returning, well, he's a U.S. Trinidad, born U.S. citizen, Canadian citizen.
07:22He returns for winter in his family home in Ravinsav in Londonville.
07:29He stepped out just to get some four.
07:32He actually bought four doubles, just five houses away from where he was staying.
07:38And he jumped into a car and left the area.
07:43And it's baffling as to what happened, why he would have done that.
07:49But we conducted searches in the area and searches ongoing members outside there as we speak,
07:55trying to locate Saadev Kunji.
07:59And then we had a rescue.
08:04We have Mr. Albert Solorzano.
08:10He has been missing 12 days today.
08:13And he suffered some dementia.
08:16Whitney, he left La Hocketa.
08:19Phase 7 La Hocketa would have made his way through Greenville.
08:24He was spotted and then, to date, we've had no, we haven't been able to locate him despite numerous searches.
08:33So, to the viewers, we've outlined a definite area in which he most likely will be in.
08:43And so, it's La Hocketa.
08:47La Hocketa, the eastern boundary will be Wallerfield, Komoto.
08:52And on the northern, Karapo as well, Twin City.
08:58So, if you're living in that area and you see a gentleman walking, most likely bareback by now,
09:04he's holding his pants using his left arm, his bare feet.
09:09Please look out for this gentleman.
09:11A really nice gentleman.
09:12His family is distraught.
09:14And we're asking you to keep your eyes open for him.
09:17Please call the nearest police station, La Hocketa, San Rafael, Arima.
09:22And let him know if you spot him.
09:25Of course, 799-1453.
09:28And, Whitney, we had two oyster harvesters, as I called them, right?
09:34They went out on Saturday morning to harvest oysters in the Claxton Bay area, just around the mangrove area.
09:42They didn't plan to go far out in a flat-bottom wooden boat.
09:46And they didn't return home.
09:49And so, the family called us on Saturday evening, Saturday night, and we launched an operation very early.
09:57And I must say to the public, when we say hunters, search and rescue team, we always omit others.
10:05The police is always involved in all of our operations.
10:09In this one, the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard.
10:12And they stopped him.
10:13And the police service.
10:14And we were able to get him.
10:18The boat was, you know from Claxton Bay, where that boat drifted overnight?
10:23Where?
10:23To 0.14.
10:24I see.
10:25In the open seats.
10:27And so, one of the boats operating there, Tufco boat, they were able to pick them up and transfer them to our boat.
10:38And the relatives and friends were involved as well.
10:42But just to let the public know that, you know, you're going in a marine craft, make sure you have adequate.
10:48Because they ran out of fuel.
10:50Oh, okay.
10:50So, they end up drifting.
10:52They ended up drifting.
10:54But the thing about it, Whitney, is once you reach 0.14 and you're not picked up, then you will go travel southwest along in the open sea.
11:04If you happen to bypass Cedrus, you get into that open sea between southwest peninsula and Venezuela.
11:11And that area is a difficult area to be picked up.
11:15So, thankfully, we were involved and I want to say kudos to our team members who went out there and directed and supervised everything.
11:24Because the family got back to me and they said, this mission, your members, played a pivotal role in ensuring that everything went according to plan.
11:35So, those were the three missions we had over the course of the last week and weekend.
11:43All right.
11:44Well, I mean, Hunter Search and Rescue continues to work hard.
11:46Right now, let's take a look at today's updates when it comes to the SOE.
11:50Day 187.
11:52Number of operations, 14,202.
11:56Target priority offenders, 4,143.
12:00Searches conducted, 93,624.
12:04Traffic operations, 9,408.
12:07Total persons arrested, 5,455.
12:11Total persons charged, 2,666.
12:16Traffic offenses detected, 48,371.
12:21Firearms recovered.
12:23We see an increase in revolvers at a total of 301.
12:27Ammunition recovered.
12:28We're seeing now an increase with the .38, giving us a total of 4,442.
12:34And dangerous drugs sees, again, we're seeing an increase in the cannabis and cocaine as the TTBS continues to work hard.
12:42Captain?
12:42Yeah, and I encourage the public to continue to support the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service in their operations.
12:49And it is only with the public self that results could, like you just spoke to, would increase.
12:59The results would be positive, and we could see a reduction in crime.
13:04Yes, most definitely.
13:05Let's take a look at what made today's headlines.
13:07And those were the stories making today's headlines.
13:34We'll open up the phone lines and more when we return after this break.
13:37How much does a funeral go for these days?
13:51I guarantee the figure you're thinking is way smaller than the actual cost.

15:11From January 16th to Carnival 2026.
15:16Be a part of history.
15:20So you have big plans for the year, ain't it?
15:23A trip in July, birthday in November, and fat after fat this carnival.
15:30But you know what is stop plans?
15:32A $22,500 fine.
15:35You know what else could really stop your plans?
15:40Five years imprisonment and suspension on your license for three years.
15:45Don't drink and drive.
15:47Welcome, Mark.
16:04Remember, you can give us a call at 623-1711, extension 1996 and 1997.
16:10Now, Captain, we are going into missing persons who are still out there, and we're trying to get more information so we can bring closure to the families.
16:17Yes, Whitney.
16:19So, Whitney and January tends to start off slow each year, and for the year thus far, we've had 11 reports of missing persons.
16:28We still have four, unaccounted four.
16:31And these four, I mentioned Albert Solazano earlier in the program at the start, and he's still missing.
16:40So, we want you to pay attention to those persons you see walking on the roads, you may be on the highway, entering Waller Field, Komoto area.
16:49Please call your local police station.
16:52They're all aware because San Rafael Police did come and meet us in the field yesterday.
16:58Or 799-1453.
17:01He's suffering from dementia, and he is walking.
17:04And the second person, I did speak to this person earlier, Sahadev Konji, he's from London, but bearing in mind he is really a Canadian citizen who returns each year, you know, just to spend the winter months in Trinidad.
17:20So, he should be knowledgeable about the country.
17:24This one is baffling us, and the fact that he just stepped into a car willingly, voluntarily, you know.
17:32He may know the individual.
17:34Who he would have gone with.
17:35So, if you're out there and you're saying, contact in Londonville, police post the handling this matter, or 799-1453.
17:44And then we have Jerome Lalji, Joseph Lalji.
17:49Now, he's really used to be in the streets.
17:52His family hasn't seen him for a long time.
17:55He used to, you know, be there, and they have more.
17:58They worry.
17:58They want to know what happened to Jerome Joseph Lalji.
18:01So, if you know anything about Jerome, please call the St. Joseph Police Station or call us at 799-1453.
18:12And then we have Celine Hospitalis.
18:15She is from the Busy Corner, New Blanc area.
18:19If you have information, we're working closely with others to try to locate her.
18:25But in the meantime, you know, you could call the Princess Town Police Station.
18:29Sorry.
18:30Table and Police Station is handling this matter.
18:32Or call us at 799-1453.
18:37So, those are the four still outstanding for January 2026, Whitney.
18:43All right.
18:44So, at this time, we have a meeting released from the TTPS where nine officers promoted as TTPS Advances Leadership and Reform.
18:52So, nine officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, the TTPS, were promoted to the rank of Senior Superintendent and Superintendent during a promotion ceremony held today at the Salomon McLeod Theatre.
19:05Congratulations to the officers.
19:07We're seeing also the Police Commissioner there, along with the Minister of Homeland Security as well.
19:14So, on behalf of Hunter's HR Rescue Team, let me extend congratulations.
19:19I know it's four senior Supes that were promoted, two males, two females.
19:24That's a nice balance.
19:26But with respect to the superintendents, it was five males.
19:29But I congratulate all nine of them and ask you to continue to be excellent in your duties and always practice good leadership and best practices as it comes to policing in Trinidad.
19:43I mean, I love how you mention the females.
19:46Yeah, I look for that in little this, right?
19:49Yeah, I don't think it's one where they're just looking to say, let's make sure we have a balance of females.
19:53But we are seeing females rising to the occasion because we saw a female police commissioner.
19:58Now, we're also seeing one who is leading operation, a DCP.
20:03So, I mean, we're seeing females rising in the ranks and it shows that they have the leadership skills and the, I don't want to say the power.
20:13Because powers are strong with you, so anyone, but the capabilities are standing in their own space among a service that was predominantly male-driven.
20:23And as you get promoted, that leadership is needed because you have a lot of persons to supervise.
20:31It's a lot of work, but I think leadership is needed to manage and to ensure that your division or your unit progresses well, continues to grow and develop.
20:42Because I think, Whitney, to be honest, this is what is needed as we look as outsiders looking into the police service.
20:51Yes.
20:52We need to take that break.
20:53We'll be back.
20:53Still using wipes?
21:07Drop it.
21:08Switch to Garnier Meissler Cleansing Water.
21:10Meissles remove makeup like a magnet.
21:11In just one step, no harsh rubbing.

23:17Get all the details at ndatt.org.
23:21Welcome back.
23:37Remember, the phone lines are open.
23:39You can give us a call at 623-1711, extension 1996 and 1997.
23:45Now, Captain, I understand we still have another person.
23:47Well, I just, there was a case and he was missing and his body was found.
23:52But I just wanted to spend a couple of minutes.
23:55Yes.
23:55Condolences.
23:56As we interact with the public, right?
23:59Sir Jamal Rampasad, 25, his body was found in the San Rafael District.
24:03But what the story behind it and the lesson to be learned for parents and if the young people are viewing,
24:10is that Whitney, in my days, dating took a different form.
24:15That's a long, long time ago and in your case, it may be a short while ago.
24:20But, you know, with the new generation, they're using online methods to get together.
24:25And this case is interesting and there's a lesson to be learned.
24:30Jamal, Sir Jamal Rampasad went with his family last week, Wednesday, to a lush restaurant in Kirib for a family dinner.
24:37Someone who he was speaking to online and whom he never met.
24:43He invited that person to come in during the dinner so that maybe they could meet.
24:48So that was the first time he was meeting her.
24:51And then, so his relatives were able to see the girl but they didn't know her name or any details.
24:58So, no introduction.
25:00No introductions at all.
25:02Sir Jamal Rampasad indicated his family at about 9 p.m. when they were about to leave,
25:08because they arrived at 6 p.m., right, that he would stay on, hang out with the girl a bit,
25:14and then he would take a titty ride-share driver to get home.
25:18And he never got home.
25:21Now, his body was found the next day, unknown to anybody.
25:24Thank God he had some tattoos on his left arm.
25:28But a day after, two days after, his phone was found on the Talpah Road.
25:34If you know that road connects La Hocketa to Todd's Road down in Karony.
25:38His phone was found and then, you know, he was murdered.
25:45He had gunshots, wounds, and so really the lesson to be learned in this is be careful of this online dating.
25:55Make sure you're sure you know what you're doing and don't invite people.
26:00Watch where, well, he met them with his family around.
26:04But that decision, you know, to not go home with the family may have costed him as well.
26:09I think now we have reached a stage where long are the days where persons believe that females are not ones to commit crime and put persons in place.
26:19And to the young men out there, you need to pay attention and do the things that most females do when going out with someone.
26:27Sometimes some females may slip up.
26:29But you have to inform persons that they know who you're going with, the location, the name of the individuals.
26:34Because these things are very important that we must do.
26:38And for men, you all should start doing that because we have a lot of female predators out there and they have zero remorse.
26:44We have a call on the line that said back to the phone lines at this time.
26:47Caller, good evening.
26:49Good evening.
26:50Good evening.
26:51Hello?
26:52Yes, ma'am, you're live.
26:53Go ahead.
26:54Right, go ahead.
26:55Okay, I am just trying, I'm just going to say I would like to congratulate the police service.
27:01My husband was carjacked in December and I want to congratulate the police.
27:09I dealt with four stations, Kunupia, Las Lomas, San Rafael and La Hocketa.
27:18And they were all very, very nice to me and my family.
27:22I must say I appreciate the way the police handled everything.
27:29And I just want the country to know how the police really do their work and put themselves outside there for us.
27:37Right?
27:38I felt loved.
27:40I felt that my country is the way that it should be.
27:44And I want to congratulate the police commissioner and all the police for doing their work.
27:51And I must say at every station we called to find out where and what was going on,
27:57the person who answered the phone, the police person or police woman,
28:02they always identified themselves, which was to me a great thing.
28:08You know?
28:09So I want to congratulate the police.
28:12I'm calling from Langebach.
28:14And this happened on the 19th of December.
28:21Now the woman police constable in La Hocketa, she was excellent.
28:27She was excellent.
28:28She came out Christmas Day to see that we gave our statement so that we could get the car right away.
28:35Well, not right away until the finish, do all the different things.
28:39And we really appreciated that.
28:42You go police.
28:43That's the way to go.
28:44Okay?
28:45Oh, that's great.
28:47And you commended for police stations.
28:49Ma'am, I have the same experience when speaking to police officers.
28:54In their stations, they're very polite.
28:56They do identify themselves.
28:59And so I know some senior officer, I don't know if it was DCP Junior Benjamin,
29:08but, you know, in terms of the customer relationships, it must improve.
29:13And they have been improving.
29:15But I'm so happy that you called in to congratulate the police.
29:21Right?
29:22Yes, you will be so happy.
29:23Yeah, sure.
29:24They will be very happy.
29:26Ma'am, thanks for that.
29:27You know, we very rarely hear the good things.
29:31We hear some of the bad things, and that creates a perception.
29:35But our experience out there is that all over the country, Trina and Tobago,
29:40we've had positive experiences with interacting with the Trina and Tobago Police Service.
29:46Now, as we continue the conversation with the TTPS,
29:48they are not just there to protect and serve us, the citizens, but also the environment.
29:54I want you all to take a look at what happened on the coastline here with the TTPS
29:57when they came out to show the sun.
29:59The environment is also important to us.
30:01Let's take a look.
30:01Let's take a look.
30:31Today I am happy and privileged to join members of the Hostel and Air Support Unit in their
30:43first series of community engagement activities within the Trinidad and the Bureau Police Service.
30:53This morning exercise is indeed a wake-up call for us, in us understanding the important role we play in society.
31:06Policing is multidimensional, it's multifaceted, it is one in which we seek to protect and serve
31:18and executing our duties, we utilize preventative methods as well.
31:23And clearly, what I have seen this morning and we have all seen is that there needs to be a greater level of education
31:33and sensitization to our stakeholders and the wider public in keeping a clean seat.
31:42And therefore, I want to thank all of you who have taken time from your business today.
31:47You could have been somewhere else this morning to join us as we all would together
31:53to be radically a lesson to reduce illusion of reality.
31:59And a job well done by the TTPS is showing that they are consistently
32:28concerned about the environment as well, as well as the well-being of the citizens.
32:33And we can only commend the officers who came out and showed up.
32:36And I hope those saw the officers there working extremely hard, cleaning up that the citizens don't litter.
32:42Walk with your garbage bags now and pack your stuff and take it with you and dispose of it the right way.
32:47You take that break, we'll be back.

35:42Captain, the video, sorry, that we just watched.
35:46Yeah, so Whitney that speaks to the national pride, civic mindedness and role model.
35:54And the coastal unit and the air support unit, we meet them in the field regularly.
36:02And really and truly their base of operations is the coastlines.
36:05And what you're seeing there was an effort to clean the space that they use.
36:11And you see that gentleman called Inspector Ronnie Pallad.
36:15I want to single him out.
36:16Yes.
36:17When we're out there, he's always there before us when we're looking for drowned victims.
36:21He's a professional.
36:23He's a hard worker.
36:24And not only that, he assists us quietly behind the scenes with our animal rescues.
36:30And he really is proud of Trinidad and Tobago.
36:34He's proud of his job.
36:36And he strives to extend excellence in all areas.
36:42He would have been on the program.
36:45Yes.
36:46And so, you know.
36:47You look so proud.
36:48Jackie.
36:49I know she's always a great person to have on this program.
36:54Lots of experience.
36:55But I'm proud of the Trinidad and Tobago police service.
36:58You've seen the direction in which they headed, right?
37:00Yes.
37:01Most definitely.
37:02Excellent.
37:03Yes.
37:04Now, I understand you have a meeting coming up with some stakeholders.
37:06Yes.
37:07You can tell us a little bit more about that.
37:08You remember that discourse I had on last week Monday.
37:09Yes.
37:10You said I was sung and angry while I was being firm, right?
37:13Yes.
37:14And in being firm, I was communicating with the national community.
37:19You know, that's something needed to be done with respect to looking at the hiking industry.
37:25Yes.
37:26What happened subsequent to that is that we bring in the hiking industry to our meeting next week,
37:32Tuesday, around the savannah.
37:34We'll have some experts in there.
37:36We have key persons who would be there to really sort out the issue of hiking and put it on a track so that incidents like what happened two weekends ago would not recur.
37:49Yes.
37:50So this is the work of being on beyond the tape, right?
37:53Yes.
37:54And so on Thursday, we are around the savannah there.
37:56And we're going to have a really great meeting, a two-hour meeting to discuss, you know, putting the fraternity and ensuring that risk management plays a great part in the operations.
38:09Yes.
38:10Yes.
38:11Because I know you're very concerned about that and prisons are still looking to venture out and, you know, taking the scenery.
38:16Yeah.
38:17And with the upcoming carnival season and the upcoming dry season, you're going to find a lot more outdoor activities and outdoor enthusiasts wanting to get out there.
38:27But we have to remind them that being out there carries a risk and if you don't mitigate against some of these risk incidents would occur.
38:36But we at the same time want you to go outdoor and experience the beautiful, that beautiful experience.
38:44But understand that in everything you do, whether you're home, anywhere, you have to take, you have to manage risks at all turns.
38:53Whether it's walking on the road, driving a vehicle, managing your children at home, every aspect of life calls for risk management.
39:03Yeah.
39:04Now there were some disturbing incidences that took place over the weekend and let's just say, I mean, in this case, we really have to pay attention to our surroundings.
39:13I know gone are the days that I'm sorry to say, people hate to hear it, that you cannot just leave your place, you know, unlocked, unattended.
39:23Just by a split second, things could change.
39:26And with me saying that is because a shop owner locks herself in with a teen thief, a teen.
39:32Now, a 15-year-old boy was arrested on Monday evening after allegedly breaking into a shop at Los Euro Road in Irene.
39:41Now, according to police reports, around 7.40 p.m., the shop owner, Jennifer Moses, 55, had secured her store, Jay Moses, and stepped outside to speak with a friend.
39:52When she returned, she found a meal inside the shop without her permission.
39:57Yeah.
39:58And I know the shop and I believe I know the owner, right?
40:01Yes.
40:02When I read it, I was really surprised.
40:04It means, therefore, that you have to pay attention to every aspect in your business.
40:10Please, make sure you lock up tightly.
40:13There are devices now that will secure your property.
40:18Yes.
40:19So, these little pests around can't get into your property.
40:22It will take probably somebody who is a professional thief to get into your property.
40:27But you have to practice locking up your place properly.
40:31Yes.
40:32I hope that a 15-year-old boy, that they are able to also assist him as well.
40:37Because from the information, God that it was $196 on cigarettes.
40:42Right.
40:43So, we hope that with reform and the prison system, and sometimes it may not be going to prison.
40:52But there is a plan, especially if you are a minor, to take you in a particular direction.
40:57There are homes there that could rehabilitate and point you into a young direction.
41:02Because this is what we need with the young ones.
41:05We don't want to be too punitive.
41:09Yes.
41:10The rehabilitation must be positive in its disposition.
41:14And, you know, be able to, you know, nip the problems in the body.
41:19Straighten the tree.
41:20Yes.
41:21And let the tree grow properly.
41:22But I hope that also the young ones are watching that.
41:25It's not a slap on the wrist.
41:26Because as officers, time and time again, being on the show they mentioned, at that age you could still be charged as an adult.
41:32Yeah.
41:33So, it is not where, oh, you're under 18, so they'll just put you in juvenile and you'll get out before 18.
41:39And a similar stance was taken with respect to violence in the school.
41:43Correct.
41:44And they have charged those individuals.
41:46Because there comes a time when you have to really, you have to really be firm and get it done.
41:53Yes.
41:54And get it done.
41:55But even when it is done, we hope that they change their behavior.
42:00Because that's what you're looking for.
42:01Yes, yes, yes.
42:02Them to change their behavior, see life differently, and take a positive pathway for the rest of their life.
42:09Right.
42:10Now, a disturbing story here, another one.
42:13Elderly couple attacked in robbery at Valsing Home, street dweller held.
42:18So, St. Joseph police are investigating an assault with intent to rob that left an elderly couple injured in their Valsing Home on Sunday afternoon.
42:28Now, according to reports, around 3.30 p.m., a 37-year-old woman was alerted by her seven-year-old stepdaughter that her step-grandmother was being attacked by an unknown man.
42:40She entered the living room and saw the suspect, described as an East Indian male, medium-built, brown complexion, wearing green three-quarter pants and bare-chested, assaulting the elderly woman.
42:54Another resident, an elderly man, was also trying to fend off the attacker.
42:59The informant went outside to alert neighbors and called the police.
43:03Upon returning, she observed the suspect walking away from the residence.
43:07Investigators later found blood throughout the house, including the porch, living room, corridor, and kitchen.
43:14A bloody knife was found on the kitchen floor.
43:17The living room had been ransacked, though nothing was taken from the home.
43:22Now, one suspect, a 63-year-old of Spring Village Valsing, was taken into custody.
43:28The suspect, described as a street dweller, sustained minor injuries during the incident and is seeking medical attention.
43:35Now, both victims sustained minor injuries and are receiving medical care.
43:40Statements from the victims are pending as they were reportedly traumatized by the attack.
43:45Thank God there were other persons around.
43:48Yes.
43:49But we see where the elderly folks are being subjected to these criminal activities.
43:55Yes.
43:56So we're asking you all to make yourself hard targets.
44:00The question of keeping your gates locked, keeping your doors locked while you are inside.
44:06In this case, it ended well because there was blood already.
44:09Had the grandchild not been alert, alert another member of the family to what's taking place, this could have ended in deaths.
44:18Tragedy, yes.
44:19In tragedy.
44:20So we're asking you to make yourself hard targets at all times.
44:23Even at home.
44:24In your own home, Captain.
44:25In your own home.
44:26In your own home.
44:27I mean...
44:28Hard targets in your own home.
44:30You believe that you are safe in your home, but please lock your doors and gates while you are at home.
44:37Because, just like that, a street dweller entered.
44:40Yeah.
44:41Split second, your whole life could change on both sides.
44:44So you have to be alert at all times and expect incidents like these and, you know, practice safety at all times.
44:51And, condolence, this is the family here because this is a tragedy that struck here.
44:56A Chinese national found murder at St. Madeleine restaurant.
45:00Alright.
45:01A trail of blood led to a Chinese national being found dead at a restaurant in St. Madeleine on Sunday night.
45:08It was around 11.55pm that a man went to a Chinese restaurant and bar in St. Madeleine to make a purchase through an opening at a door from which sales are conducted after the business place closed.
45:22Through the opening, he saw a large amount of blood across the floor.
45:27It led to behind the counter and out of sight.
45:30The man was sent to the St. Madeleine police.
45:33The man, sorry, went to the St. Madeleine police station where a report was made.
45:38Now, officers arrived to find the door open and the body of the man with both hands and feet bounded at the wrist and ankle with duct tape and blood above the head and face.
45:49A wooden baton was also on the scene.
45:52Now, we can respond to that.
45:53I know we have a caller on the line.
45:55So, I don't want the caller to be waiting.
45:58Caller, good evening.
45:59Hello, good evening.
46:00Good evening.
46:01I'd like to give some advice to the hikers.
46:05Yes, go ahead.
46:07Well, I have been hiking for quite a long time.
46:10And I took children on hikes and I took lots of people on hikes.
46:14And I make sure that I am the last person to live in the area.
46:19And all the other hikers are in front of me.
46:22Where there was an incident down in the west where a hiker was left behind because she didn't want to cross the river.
46:30And she was washed away with the rain because of the flood, with the rain.
46:35And they found her somewhere in the Gulf, somewhere around there.
46:38I don't know if you recall that.
46:40Yeah, I recall that.
46:42Yes, because it was very wrong to leave her there.
46:45The leader of the hike had a right to make sure she crossed that river.
46:49You can't walk and leave a hiker behind.
46:52I say three of three joining people because when I went on a hike, I made sure and I realized what was happening.
46:59I went to the balcony.
47:00I was looking and make sure I kept a vision, eye and all the pictures that were there.
47:05And three of them got into difficulty.
47:07All right.
47:10And if you go hiking, you have to make sure that if you're taking people hiking, they must always walk with a staff.
47:17And you must always have a rope to show for people to retrieve them.
47:24And the girl that died in that last recent hike there.
47:28I cannot understand why when she slipped and fell into the river, nobody went after her.
47:33All right.
47:34Thank you, Kola.
47:35Well, let me just clear up something, Kola.
47:37Yes.
47:38And I am convinced because I was on site and I spoke to the people there who were there when the incident happened.
47:45Kola, they attempted to rescue the lady, but from what we met on site, a rescue operation would have been impossible.
47:58It would have, she would have died because of the, what happened to the feet and it became locked underneath there.
48:05So any attempt to lift her horizontally would have failed.
48:09They did attempt that.
48:11But just, Kika, to put it in a nutshell, everything you're talking about there, be it river crossing, that's, that is wilderness risk management.
48:22Yes.
48:23And that's what we're going to address.
48:24Captain, thank you so much for being here with us as usual.
48:26We wish you nothing about this.
48:28At this time, we get ready for news up next.
48:30God bless.
48:31Tomorrow.
