03:24Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago and those of you who are locked on globally.
03:27This is Beyond the Tape.
03:29I'm your host, Whitney Husbands.
03:30Now, each and every day, we come on this show to encourage persons to make sure to do the right
03:35thing.
03:36Be law-abiding citizens and focus on what is best for our country.
03:41Now, with that being said, we are saying that to the public, when you see something, say something.
03:47We encourage that every single day.
03:49But it seems like the distractions are far too many.
03:51And speaking of distractions, April 9th, and I'll start off by saying condolences to the family of the seven-year
03:59-old Angelica Sadie Jogi,
04:02a little angel that was taken too soon, where she and her family, in a moment of, of course, having
04:08fun on vacation, out of school,
04:11where a horrific incident that took place in the Sister Isle on Wednesday afternoon.
04:15And another business owner, Tricia Maharaj, died at the hands of gunmen on Wednesday, April 8th.
04:23Condolences, of course, to the family and loved ones of her as well.
04:27And we continue to monitor the situation in the Laramie area where a businessman was shot and killed.
04:33And for this and more, where we discuss the issues that we are seeing before us each and every day,
04:38we have my favourite co-host with me, ASP Russell.
04:41Good evening to you, sir.
04:43Good evening, Ms. Husbands. Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago, and to all our international viewers,
04:47on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners,
04:51First and Second Division officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
04:55I hope that all is well with you and that you had a wonderful day thus far.
04:59Yes.
05:00Now, yeah, you know, I know it's just a lot.
05:03I know you're watching me, like, you know, the show must go on.
05:06Where do we start?
05:07Yeah, where do we start?
05:08Yes, it's a crime show, but it just seems like where the TTPS is trying,
05:13the citizens are also trying their hardest.
05:15It just seems these different elements that we're seeing popping up
05:19or just the stressing and instilling fear in the communities,
05:22it's just they're not stopping.
05:24They're not stopping ESP.
05:25And it is scary for me at times.
05:28And I understand that.
05:31What I want to say is, first, we have to return to the roots
05:36and start back praying for each other.
05:40Why is we really come together as a community?
05:44You see, there's strength in numbers.
05:46Because the criminals network.
05:49So it's for us, the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago,
05:51to network as well in the fight against the criminals.
05:57We have to do our part.
05:59We have to come together to do our part, Trinidad and Tobago.
06:03We have to forget all the petty wars and all this neighbor
06:07not speaking with that neighbor and, you know, things like that.
06:10Sometimes you may see your neighbor's children involving things
06:14and you may need to really tell a, your son did this, your daughter did that.
06:20I, you know, I, and that was how I grew up in Lavantel.
06:24That was how I grew up.
06:26My mom worked an eight to four.
06:29So when mommy is not home, I am my own man.
06:32And every wrong thing I did in the absence of my mother,
06:36somehow, whether it took a day, a week, or two weeks,
06:41she got the information eventually.
06:43And, of course, she would discipline me.
06:45So I'm saying parents, relatives, loved ones, friends,
06:49because friends have to start to hold friends accountable.
06:51Try to be a brother's keeper.
06:53Try to be that mentor.
06:54If we start by making that, deciding to date
06:57that I am going to be the example,
07:00change starts with me, the individual, you know,
07:03then we would start to slowly, the ship will turn.
07:07And I'm not just speaking to parents, I'm speaking to teachers.
07:11I'm speaking to the police officers, I'm speaking to nurses,
07:14I'm speaking to doctors, I'm speaking to the public servant.
07:17Let us go to work.
07:18Let us do what we have to do, our honest days, work for our honest days,
07:21and really get the country going and flowing,
07:25even to the honorables.
07:29You do have this will before you, the honorable.
07:32Let us comport and behave ourselves,
07:35because the younger generation, they are looking on.
07:37Yes, in an honorable way.
07:39Right now we head to the sister aisle with, of course,
07:41the sad news of the young child whose life was taken away too quickly.
07:46Now a family outing in the Pigeon Point ended in tragedy on Wednesday evening
07:52when a seven-year-old Angelica Sidi Jogi of Barkport was killed in a jet ski incident.
07:59The child of people of San Fernando TML Primary School
08:03was bathing with relatives shortly before 5 p.m. when it happened.
08:07According to relatives, the child was inside the designated bathing area
08:11near the perimeter rope when a jet ski broke through the barrier
08:16and crashed into the family.
08:18Sidi's uncle, Darian Jogi, said he and other relatives were also struck.
08:23He stated, we were bathing at Pigeon Point,
08:26not too far from the ropes, inside the ropes,
08:28and this guy with this jet ski, I don't know where he came from,
08:33hit me, my brother, and hit the child.
08:35Two of the men, two of them, sorry, were unconscious one time.
08:39I could not catch myself.
08:41Sidi got the full brunt of the jet ski,
08:44and her whole face mashed up.
08:47This is what the uncle stated.
08:48Now, family members and bystanders rushed to help the child administering CPR
08:53on the shore before she was taken to hospital for emergency treatment.
08:57Despite the efforts of the first responders and medical staff,
09:01she later died.
09:02And, of course, again, condolences to the family.
09:05Ms. Hospice, let me also send condolences to the family
09:07on behalf of each and to be a police service.
09:10I saw the incident over the news, and my heart, it sunk.
09:16It was just a little bit to see.
09:18And, I mean, this person is bathing inside the rope,
09:21so they are adhering to the rules and regulations.
09:24And people need to understand, you know,
09:27why rules and regulations are in place.
09:29So what I can say to Trinidad and Tobago is that the members of the Tobago Division Task Force
09:35went to Canaan, Feeder Road, Canaan, and Tobago,
09:38and we now have a 32-year-old laborer and jet ski operator in custody
09:45with respect to this incident.
09:49And that individual is indeed assisting us with inquiries with respect to this matter.
09:55And we will continue to update you and keep you abreast as we have further developments.
09:59Yes, and I hope those who are usually renting the jet skis,
10:03or even if you have your personal jet ski in Tobago,
10:06this is not something new that I'm sure others can attest to,
10:10including myself, where we see the way how they ride.
10:12They want to show up, show skills, and take it down.
10:16The rope is there for a reason.
10:18And I'm happy you touched on that,
10:23because I remember in my days,
10:26and this is important, Shana and Tobago,
10:29these jet skis and these motorcycles,
10:33the power, the speed, the torque of these vehicles,
10:38it really is indeed an adrenaline rush.
10:42I remember my days of riding motorcycles,
10:44and my mother said to me,
10:46the best thing you did for me was sell that motorcycle.
10:48And let me tell you something,
10:52Ms. Husbands,
10:53when you sit on that vehicle,
10:56and you feel that power,
10:58there's an adrenaline rush.
10:59But I want to say,
11:00I want to commend the motorcyclists,
11:02because I have seen a change
11:04in the way that they ride
11:06and the risks that they take.
11:08I understand now,
11:10once you're a learner riding with a group,
11:12they tend to ride at the speed of the learner.
11:15So, because they themselves recognize
11:17that they lost too many lives from, you know,
11:21And motorists don't respect riders on the road,
11:24sorry to say,
11:24most of the times.
11:25They don't give them the respect that's needed.
11:28And some riders do take unnecessary risks.
11:30And I think what happened too,
11:33is that what is interesting,
11:34is that if you haven't ridden a motorcycle,
11:40you have no appreciation of the speed.
11:44So, when you look at that motorcycle
11:46coming at you and you say,
11:48I can't get across in time,
11:51the acceleration on that motorcycle,
11:54I had a GSXR 1000,
11:56Ms. Husbands,
11:57a big bike.
11:59No, I mean you're a big fellow.
12:00And I can tell you,
12:02speed is an adrenaline rush,
12:04but speed kills you in Atlanta and Tobago.
12:06Speed kills.
12:07And I'm certain that there is somebody,
12:09at least one person,
12:10that wants you to go and to come back home safely.
12:12Yeah, and speaking of kills again,
12:15condolences to the family here.
12:16Disturbing news that we found out yesterday,
12:18businesswoman gunned down in Kurep.
12:20A businesswoman, Tricia Maraj,
12:23was shot and killed at her workplace
12:25along Riverside Road, Kurep,
12:26on Tuesday afternoon.
12:28Now, Maraj, the owner of Teas Tasty Treats
12:31and the Duck Ranch Poultry Depot,
12:33was attacked at around 4.30 p.m.
12:36According to police,
12:37residents reported hearing about 10 gunshots
12:41and alluded to the St. Joseph Police Station.
12:43Officers responded and found Maraj
12:45suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
12:47She was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Science Complex,
12:50Montaupe,
12:51where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
12:54Police said the suspect
12:55had not been detained
12:57up to late Tuesday night
12:58and investigations are continuing.
13:01Maraj's killing pushed the murder toll
13:03to 99 for the year
13:05on the same date last year.
13:07The tolls still are 107.
13:09Yes, me.
13:10You know, condolences to her family as well.
13:13Trinidad and Tobago,
13:14especially the business community,
13:16because I understand this issue
13:18of persons wanting to tax business owners.
13:22I'm not saying this is the case here,
13:24but I'm just throwing it out there
13:26at this point in time,
13:27that the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service,
13:29we have established a home invasion
13:31and extortion unit,
13:33and the number is 797-3150.
13:37If for some reason at all
13:39you are facing a situation
13:41where persons are attempting to tax you
13:43and to take profits and money from you
13:45that they did not invest in your business,
13:47please feel free to give us a call.
13:49Can you give us that number?
13:51797-3150.
13:53Okay.
13:53And we will be discreet,
13:55use our intelligence apparatus,
13:58and do a sting operation
14:00where we can capture these persons
14:02and take them out of your life.
14:05So I'm asking you to come forward
14:07with the information
14:08because you may not be the only victim.
14:12Yes.
14:13And I want to say to the business persons
14:15who are custom paying these guys
14:17the first day that you pay
14:20any one of these guys
14:22when they attempt to tax you,
14:25you will be continuously paying them.
14:28And the amount will rise and rise and rise.
14:32And very soon,
14:33you will be running a business
14:35to pay tax.
14:37And that is crazy.
14:39All right.
14:39Now, there's some information
14:41that we want to send out to the public here
14:43from the TTPS media release
14:45where there are fake emails circulating
14:47fraudulent cybercrime notice
14:49and ASP will guide us accordingly here.
14:52So, China and Tobago,
14:53if you look at the screen,
14:54you would recognize a document
14:56purporting to be an original document
14:58that emanated from China and Tobago Police Service.
15:01China and Tobago Police Service
15:02is advising members of the public
15:04of a fraudulent email
15:05currently in circulation,
15:07which falsely claims to be sent
15:09by the commission of police.
15:11The email alleges that the recipient
15:13is under investigation
15:14for various cybercrime
15:16and criminal offenses
15:17by local and international
15:19security agencies.
15:21It further instructs recipients
15:23to report to the police headquarters
15:25or the cybercrime unit
15:27within 24 hours
15:28or face immediate arrest.
15:30The TNAD and Tobago Police Service
15:32wishes to categorically state
15:35that this email is fake.
15:37I say again,
15:39this email is fake.
15:41At no time
15:42does the TNAD and Tobago Police Service
15:44issue notices of investigation,
15:47arrest,
15:48or requests for appearance
15:49via unsolicited email
15:51in this manner.
15:52This message is a scam
15:54designed to intimidate
15:56and deceive recipients.
15:58Members of the public
15:59who by some reason
16:00may see one of these emails,
16:03please disregard and delete
16:05any such email immediately.
16:07Do not respond
16:09or click on any links
16:10or download any attachments.
16:12And do not provide
16:14personal or financial information
16:17under any circumstances.
16:19To safeguard against
16:20similar fraudulent attempts,
16:22you train and Tobago
16:23police service advises
16:24that you verify the sender.
16:26Official TTPs communication
16:29will come through established
16:31and verifiable channels.
16:33And lastly,
16:34be cautious of urgent
16:35or threatening languages.
16:38Scammers often create panic
16:40to force quick action.
16:43And I mentioned it
16:44last week or week before
16:46where persons are telling you
16:47we are investigating you for this
16:49but if you pay this amount of money
16:51we will drop the investigation.
16:52We do not operate like that.
16:54We do not operate like that.
16:58And I have had persons
16:59who called me already
17:01panicking.
17:03Sometimes they send it
17:04to your work email
17:06threatening you
17:07indicating that you were
17:08on a porn site.
17:10I know of some situations
17:12personally
17:12and the reason
17:13I can't speak to it.
17:15We have had these,
17:16I have seen some
17:17and they do their best
17:19to try to make it appear
17:21that it is an authentic email.
17:24And to be quite informed
17:27you know it's not.
17:28Yeah.
17:29So I hope persons
17:30who are not too tech savvy
17:31when you see things come up
17:32not everything that you need
17:33to react to
17:34and of course
17:35this cyber crime unit
17:36is there to assist you
17:37as we move.

24:38like this
24:39and I
24:40I heard it
24:42in the news
24:42and it had me
24:43thinking
24:44for quite some time
24:45because we have
24:47this
24:50urge
24:52for the firearms
24:53to protect
24:55ourselves
24:57two firearms
24:59in a house
25:01see the outcome
25:03I want to advise
25:05women
25:06and men
25:07because there are
25:08men who are
25:09in abusive
25:09relationships
25:10as well
25:10and I hope
25:12that my
25:12officers
25:14when men
25:15come to give
25:16reports
25:16at stations
25:17about their
25:18abusive
25:19relationship
25:19that they
25:20are victims
25:21that we
25:22treat them
25:23professionally
25:24in the same
25:25way
25:25because men
25:26are victims
25:27too
25:27men
25:28are victims
25:29of sexual
25:31harassment
25:31as well
25:32however
25:32we don't
25:33report it
25:33because we
25:34don't want
25:34anyone to
25:35laugh at us
25:36or the
25:38you know
25:39other person
25:40but I want

25:47that you
25:48know
25:50that you
25:51are aware
25:51of them
25:52being in
25:52an abusive
25:53relationship
25:55you need
25:56to come
25:57forward
25:57let us
25:57give them
25:58that help
25:59let us
25:59get that
26:00counsel
26:00and let us
26:01remove them
26:02from that
26:02situation
26:03far too
26:04many times
26:05we have seen
26:05negative outcomes
26:06with respect
26:07to these
26:07abusive
26:08relationships
26:08women
26:10from the
26:11time you
26:12feel uncomfortable
26:13or you get
26:14the first
26:14lash
26:15or the
26:16first piece
26:17of abuse
26:18and domestic
26:19violence

26:20according to
26:21the act
26:23financial
26:25physical
26:27psychological
26:28verbal
26:31as well
26:32I think
26:33all of
26:35the above
26:37then you
26:37can get
26:37all of
26:38the above
26:38be careful
26:39of the
26:40repetitive
26:40stages
26:41of
26:41domestic
26:42or

26:52I wouldn't
26:53do it
26:53again
26:54when you
26:55listen to
26:56the
26:58responses
26:59of the
26:59families
27:00with respect
27:00of this

31:53And we are back. We get ready to head to the phone line.
31:56You can give us a call at 623-1711, extension 1996 and 1997.
32:01We have a caller on the line. Caller, good evening.
32:04Good evening, lady and gentleman.
32:07Good evening, caller.
32:09Respectful to the couple things, so I want to know that we realize recently that there is the intention to
32:19enforce no smoking in public.
32:21Whether it's tobacco or marijuana.
32:27But we know that smoking marijuana is a big part of it, okay?
32:31Yes.
32:31Even with the decriminalization.
32:33But with respect to the tobacco, I'm saying that if you think that that is going to be enforced and
32:42we find it very likely and so on, the balance is very likely.
32:45I think it will come back on people like yourself and other KTPS ambassadors to go out there and perhaps
32:52corporate communication to also do something.
32:55In terms of that, educate members of the public.
32:59Because people will go out there and continue to go and claim ignorance.
33:04And then, of course, they will put it back on the police.
33:08The digestive tract.
33:10On the other thing, the tragedy of that appearance solved yesterday.
33:14It points to members of the public the reason for stringency in doing FUL applications.
33:25Right?
33:25Now, in the tragedy, condolences to all families and brothers and sisters and sisters, especially the young ones who are
33:33now particularly disadvantaged because their father is one, their mother is only a subject of the legal process.
33:45And that just wants to show that the responsibility of being a firearm, you owner, holder, is something that is
33:54very serious.
33:57And people, I hope people will now appreciate why.
34:01Under city and past commissioners, past commissioners, it wasn't something that was given up willingly.
34:09But it had to be stringent.
34:11Because there is not a right, it's a privilege.
34:13And until you display the respect of things.
34:19Appetit.
34:20And how I'm going to pay, kill.
34:24So for that, the investigation must return, the cash away from that.
34:29And the power is what they say to you.
34:31Recently, for police pensioners like myself, we were asked to do so to determine the relationship process.
34:40One of the things is the attestation.
34:42attestation right the attestation has to do with somebody very fine that you are alive and knowing
34:49you our inspector many people many pensioners would have left the system a long time ago some
34:56of them are in school they have u.s ailments how how how inhumane is that to require an attestation
35:05you are going to put up the coming physically because what i would mean if they correct that
35:10their life is that they will not get what is due to that every month i'm saying it is time
35:16that the
35:17police service moves towards what the social affairs ministry hasn't done with respect to not requiring
35:24life certificates come on and i'm quite sure that a dedicated team can put in here to assist police
35:32pensioners to have a little bit more secure existence while they go through the rest of their natural
35:43that's all right so thank you esb color first of all let me say um thank you you may have
35:51just
35:52provided us the media ambassadors with a topic for next week and your that was a very good piece of
36:00information it's pertinent information and we can really seek to go out there on our various platforms
36:05and inform the public as to defines associated with the smoking of tobacco and stuff like that in
36:10public so i appreciate that contribution and that is what i like about the program you can call in and
36:15share your suggestions and your ideas and i will certainly advance it um with respect to the ful and
36:22i hope persons can get a further appreciation coming out of this incident that it is a lesson for all
36:27in so
36:28many ways as to the rigorous process and i think one of the things that we could also add probably
36:34is
36:34continuous psychometric evaluation and random investigations to ensure because situations change
36:41yes sometimes you you at the point of the application you may be single
36:47but then you you things go good with you and you know you god bless you it's a blossom with
36:53a family
36:54with that with a wife and a family bible say he who finds a wife finds a good thing full
36:58stop
36:59totally those are watching full stop but um yeah i think continuous um psychometric evaluation is
37:07necessary and random investigations we went to the neighborhood and ask hey tell me what's going on
37:12here tell me what's going on here because things happen and persons do change sometimes persons have a
37:18experience something in life and they they turn to the alcohol and when they consume that alcohol they
37:25become a violent person because we all know these drugs have a chemical reaction and it changes the
37:30way you behave and the way you think and stuff like that so some person they may he all right
37:34you know
37:34it's when you when you drink yeah you know that's all right you know and these are the excuses that
37:38we
37:39make and with respect to the life certificate call i i i hear you and i i i know that
37:44what we can do as
37:46well as the county legal police service we could seek to take care of our own yeah and have a
37:51list of
37:51all the retired police officers within the division and we could probably take one day in the month or
37:58based on how things go and probably send out some staff from the office or some way that could go
38:03and
38:03have these life certificates because we cannot just have them not be verified and authenticated because
38:11it's a requirement from the government yes what we can do we could come to you so it's something that
38:16we could definitely look into and i would advance it all right we have another call caller good evening
38:25hello hello hi hi good afternoon good evening good evening sir yes um i don't want to
38:34okay okay rossel could you give my yes or no answer regarding why does it take five and six years
38:45from the date to pass the exam or recruitment to be still waiting in a waiting list is that acceptable
38:55in
38:55this day all right all right so you are speaking to enlistment yes enter the ttps
39:07yes
39:11five and six years five and six years you're waiting waiting waiting waiting waiting waiting
39:17okay um did you succeed in all the exams scholar or if you know the person there yeah they're
39:23succeeding the first um exam they succeed and and the process from psychometric polygraphs
39:32all these things and and they are now waiting list
39:38yes i think i think that investigation should be launched for the interest of transparency for the
39:45young people who want to join the police service to find out why does it take five years
39:52and manual anyhow let me say this i want to say the other part um
39:58there's a lot of comments regarding the the police and vessels and crash vehicles in the compound of the
40:08police station i think somebody on the executive we have an executive in the police station
40:14in the police the executive had to make a serious stand and get rid of these vehicles there
40:22through the legal work that is necessary and get these vehicles outside of them because
40:28there are police officers coming to work and they come and they are parking in the station they have to
40:33park on the road and sometimes they're parking and the road now has no entry sign and the police and
40:39them
40:39parking right here it don't look good for the public here let the executives do their job because if the
40:47executives don't do their job you that will shut down in the ranks and people and the third thing i
40:54i
40:54i'm not sure how you all integrate the young people who is coming in this with this now because we
41:00have to look at um
41:01people who are retired and uh the training that these people should undergo you cannot have the experience
41:09guys leaving and not passing on that information to the younger one we cannot be making the same mistakes
41:17over and over and over i'm not sure if you will have manual that uh the young guys and then
41:24look at
41:25the three cases that have been decided by the court let them go through that let them see the mistakes
41:33that were made and and let's move on this is 2026 this is not 1908 or 1950 thank you very
41:44much all right
41:45thank you so much color yes please right so i know i cannot answer the first thing with a yes
41:51or no yes
41:52because there are different things that cause the db that cause the delay it's a process um it's it's a
42:00lot that goes in you have plenty different aspects of it you have examination you have interview you have
42:06physical you have um psychometric you have polygraph whatever information has given that they have an
42:14investigation not only that there are some persons and and and people would and i'm not saying this is the
42:21case but there are times persons tell you one part and you don't get the other part um we need
42:27police
42:27officers yeah but training of police officers is something based on the budget so you must have the
42:33budget for the training it cost us to train police officers in the case of a female to every 200
42:41men or so
42:42there's only 40 females so the females do take a longer while yes okay it speaks to the job markets
42:49as well
42:50so it means that there is an issue with jobs out there yeah but that shouldn't be the reason why
42:55you
42:55join the ttbm let me tell you that should not be the reason because your intentions are not to really
43:01do what is needed as an officer it's to get a check let me tell you an interesting piece of
43:07information
43:07right people would tell you what to say in the i i really wanted to protect and serve and time
43:13went for
43:13the rubber to meet the road you hear all sorts of complaints and i am saying to you that everybody
43:21have a different reason for joining the organization some may have even been bullied in school and they
43:27see it as a form of authority to not be on the upper hand people have different reasons sometimes you
43:32don't always get the entire reason until you're done showing that person and stuff like that sometimes in
43:39between the process and i know we could be at fault for communication or lack thereof at point in time
43:44saying maybe that this person male or female may have failed some part coming down to the end or we
43:49may have some information that we need to have verified before we give them a yes or no so there
43:55are
43:55different things i really couldn't answer the caller yes or no caller sorry for that um with respect to
44:01the police vehicles and the crash vehicles on the compound they are indeed a head hazard
44:05and i mentioned it last week and you know we may have to explore some sort of legal framework
44:10to see how we could dispose of these vehicles integration of the young persons and into the service
44:18and the passing on of the experience the academy our police training academy excuse me is accredited
44:29so for those who didn't it's an accredited institution so we meet that standard that threshold
44:35to have that educational body within trying to make a police service training would continuously change
44:43change change change so sometimes it's not just about passing on because you may have done something
44:4710 years ago but the system would have changed laws are amended laws are daily so it's not just about
44:53just
44:53passing on what it's about looking at the new ways the new trend the new way to apply for it
44:57the way we apply for warrants back then as opposed to now have changed the evidential threshold and
45:04burden by applying for warrants that too more is required of you know yeah so it's not just as simple
45:11as passing on yes it might be with the parts on some of the basics but change is daily the
45:15only thing
45:16constant in life is change so we have to be careful how we're doing that with respect to the manuals
45:21we have
45:22pilots right now trying to update the performance management appraisal system we have panels that are
45:27looking at treating with the department the standing orders and improving things so i hear the
45:33caller and yes the basics could be passed on but there's so much more even the police exam we don't
45:39have
45:39a management component yes so there's so much to discuss and of course as we continue we try our best
45:45to
45:45do what is good right so we take that break we'll be back
45:52we take that break we'll be back

48:13last last
48:14fast i'm coming in fast first place you coming in last
48:35and we are back sp russell here now there are some situations where we will see right here in
48:41trinidad and tobago where matters will be brought to light and years will pass right and sometimes
48:47people say where's the justice and this just goes to show it does not just happen in trinidad and tobago
48:53alone but also around the world and with that being said there was a story that is circulating our
48:59ny serial killer pleased guilty to trinny's murder now the serial killer yes they pleaded guilty in new
49:07york to killing a sangra grande woman and seven others from in and around the american city now rex humamon
49:17a hulky six foot four inch tall manhattan architect husband and father of two lived a double life as
49:28he tortured and killed women for three decades before he was arrested in 2023 now sandra costello
49:36previously sandra rajkumar was 28 when she was tortured and killed by huamon her body was discovered by two
49:46hunters in the north sea area of long island and why on november 20th 1993 she's believed to be his
49:54earliest victim now 62 year old human would have been 29 when he murdered her and now the case has
50:04been
50:04sold after three decades well a cold case that was brought to light and evidence and justice was served
50:15and we too have a cold case unit here insurance to be good police service where the homicide department
50:22but it brings the reality that the solving of the crime that we witness on the various shows on television
50:30that the crimes are always solved yes within 40 minutes with ads is really fiction and even in the first
50:40world countries where they have all this technology all this intelligence all this experience we see the
50:46legs he did lay here in solving the crimes so we are asking persons to understand that there's just a
50:54lot of things that goes into investigations especially when it speaks to murders there is the forensic part
51:00there is the analyst analyst part there is the investigation part and all of these come together
51:06different clues different ideas different investigations different aspects that come together to make a successful
51:14matter matter and at the end what you're looking for is to secure conviction before the courts of law
51:19and a person must be judged by his or her own peers yes you know so we must have that
51:24evidential threshold
51:25we have a call on the line caller good evening
51:31hello hello hi good evening good evening good evening good evening caller yes you russell good evening ma'am um
51:39this is the first time caller welcome i'm just calling to give a bit of information to asu russell and
51:48the ttps
51:51is concerning their retirees who have to pull out a life certificate ever so often yes ma'am now i
52:00am i am a retired
52:02public servant and as far as i know the entire public service has signed a memorandum of agreement with the
52:10registrar general's department under whose portfolio falls red registration of death now the nib also has
52:22also signed that agreement so therefore public servants no longer need to fill out and
52:28uh um a life certificate because their database directly linked to the director general's database of death so as soon
52:41as the person dies and you go and register your information is uploaded to the original general department
52:47and therefore your your pension stops so you don't need to follow uh uh um life certificate anymore this
52:57was done some time ago that was done some time ago similarly with the nib as well as soon as
53:03you go to
53:03make your first claim for a debt benefit your information is uploaded to the general general department
53:11your pension stops so there's no way people can continue collecting their pension all right on the other
53:19hand the people who are collecting pensions and live abroad they still have to file this um life certificate
53:26but once you are living locally here you no longer have to fill a life certificate so after the esp
53:32and
53:32the management of the ctps they explore that possibility of engaging with the western general department
53:40and the nid as well as so that they can have um they will no longer have to follow this
53:46back
53:46certificate thank you so much mom yes p well i thank the caller for the information because i saw the
53:54signs
53:55as well the and the urgency that we were asking we had officers to come in to sign so i
54:01am happy for this
54:02information i'm in the admin that's where my office is based so it's something that we can look into yes
54:09so i hope that we are able to help those and have the necessary adjustment i don't know if i
54:14mean i don't
54:16know if we are guided under something else but if this is a new arrangement is something that
54:20we should look into and should do the necessary amendments we bring to light of course to the public
54:26as well thank you very much ma'am we have a caller on the line caller good evening hello hello
54:33hi hi good
54:35evening yes you're live good evening caller yes just want to make a small contribution um i had caused the
54:44drive to the city of good afternoon to my husband and mr russell good evening sir i have to drive
54:50to the
54:50city on two occasions this week here and it was very refreshing to see like the police has relaxed the
54:57parking restrictions on the brian mara promenade south between charlotte and henry street both sides
55:04parking along that and it was also at warming to see apparently the mayor has granted permission to the
55:14double vendor who has put up 210 the length of which occupies a lane a full lane of traffic on
55:25brian lara
55:26promenade south um never mind i spent just 20 minutes in traffic from the cathedral to henry street
55:33boys okay i glad to see we have some kind of relaxation and um minimal enforcement in this year for
55:41the
55:41of other area done thank you color saoтор asb well i'm trying to understand if it is if it's sarcasm
55:51or
55:51whatnot but i i i hear you caller i i hear you um um i'm not certain about the relaxing
56:01of the parking
56:01restrictions however i i note your comments until the doubles vendors i i i
56:11I guess everybody's trying to make a living if they are granted the necessary permission
56:15no that's what I'm gonna ask you is it that if it's not a doubles vendor or any other vendor
56:19they could pull up anywhere and start selling no you can't and you're not you're not supposed to
56:25just occupy an entire lane I don't think like that and I you know it but you you know when
56:34the city
56:34cooperation go are the doubles vendor or the persons who are vending illegally just out crying
56:42the public they're just trying to make a honest dollar and Trinidad and Tobago have this tendency
56:48of trying to make an honest and honest dollar by doing the wrong thing so is the dollar really
56:53honest we are rubbing nobody but not because they're not rubbing anybody means that you have
56:58the authority to intimidate persons on the highway by trying to wash their glass or have a double
57:04stand or tent on a man legally establish is in a parking space or on the streets where you know
57:11you have no no permission so we ask him for continuous enforcement but when enforcement
57:17doesn't align with your practices or your business then you complain and children and Tobago you all
57:24have been spoilt enough some of your need to know what you all want enforcement is enforcement and I
57:30would love to see deteriorate the bigger police service police everything but then when we stop it
57:35you go tell me go around on the real criminal and that the double's vendor may have made you stay
57:40in
57:40traffic 20 minutes or 30 minutes so you vexed with the double's vendor but if you were coming from an
57:45event and you were hungry and decided I can eat that was you because that double's vendor is there for
57:51a
57:51reason because we visualize them yes so we support the wrongdoing now and so many ways and then we
58:00complain self-introspection I guess yeah I can't please every everyone right it's right wrong is wrong
58:08and as usual ASP when you see something say something and we appreciate you taking your time and effort being
58:14here with us you'll be back tomorrow because it's Friday yeah so we get ready for news coming up next
58:21TNT
58:21continue being a hot target god bless we're out
