03:00Last
03:00Last
03:01Last
03:01Last
03:03This
03:03Thing is about to break
03:08For you
03:09Three hours in Gethsemane
03:10He dragged that tire called
03:12Salvation for man
03:16Lift my eyes unto the hills
03:18We only have one place to go for help
03:22Hallelujah
03:24So I celebrate in Jesus
03:26There's a king
03:29Who leads his people to victory
03:32We are destined
03:37Walk into your new season
03:53Good evening
03:53Trinidad and Tobago
03:54And of course our international audience
03:56This is Beyond the Tape
03:58I'm your host Whitney Husbands
03:59Now we have arrived at the end of a work week
04:01And I know most of you are saying already
04:03Yes it is
04:03It's a short week
04:04Because tomorrow
04:06Which is the 20th
04:07Friday the 20th of March
04:08We will be celebrating
04:10With our brothers
04:11And sisters
04:12Of the Muslim faith
04:13We will be celebrating
04:14Eid
04:14So with that being said
04:15We send love
04:16Peace
04:17And of course I hope that they have an enjoyable day
04:19Tomorrow
04:20Now apart from that
04:22Persons will be able to rest
04:23Others may not
04:24Like the media
04:25And surely
04:26Not the TTPS
04:27Because they will be working
04:28Extremely hard
04:29Regardless if there's a holiday or not
04:31To talk to us a little bit more
04:33On what's taking place
04:33For the TTPS
04:34And the crime situation
04:35One of our favorite co-hosts
04:37From the TTPS
04:38We have ASP Russell here with us
04:40This evening
04:40Good evening to you sir
04:41Good evening Ms. Husbands
04:43Good evening Sharon Tobago
04:44On behalf of the Commissioner of Police
04:46Deputy Commissioners
04:47Assistant Commissioners
04:49And 1st and 2nd Division officers
04:50Of the
04:51Esteem
04:52And let me start by taking my time
04:55To wish
04:57My Muslim brothers and sisters
04:59A happy Eid Mubarak
05:02Mrs. Husbands
05:03You had to be careful
05:04Yeah very careful
05:05Very very careful
05:06Don't call your own holiday
05:07Of course
05:08Yes yes
05:08You don't ever go away
05:09You take your time
05:10You take your time
05:10I am taking my time
05:11Yes and we appreciate that
05:13And you know
05:14Regardless of us having
05:16The moments of rest
05:18Many of us may have
05:19As I mentioned before
05:20Persons may not have that opportunity
05:22Because they have to get up and work
05:23Like your officers
05:25Who will be out and about
05:26Especially on the holiday
05:27Where persons will be out
05:28Celebrating and being
05:30Operating with their families
05:32Throughout the country
05:32Well this is a great opportunity
05:35To see how much
05:36Trinidad and Tobago
05:37Have learned
05:38Yes
05:39From our presence here
05:40And how they behave
05:41Themselves tomorrow
05:43And throughout the weekend
05:45We want the motorists
05:47To take your time please
05:48We will be out here
05:49With our speed guns
05:50We have
05:52We are still in a state
05:53Of an SOE
05:53We will have exercises
05:55We will have roadblocks
05:56We will have things going on
05:58Tomorrow
05:58God's spare life
05:59And throughout the weekend
06:01Some asking the persons
06:02To please behave yourself
06:03So you wouldn't be ticketed
06:06Or arrested
06:07Yes
06:07Or jailed
06:09And just to remind also
06:10To the public
06:11That when we had Captain
06:12On Monday
06:13Captain Rambrath
06:14He mentioned that
06:15From the Thursday
06:16We would have been
06:17Still in a yellow alert
06:18Coming out of
06:19You know
06:20The wind that we see
06:21The high winds
06:21And of course
06:22What is going on
06:23At the beaches
06:23So please be careful
06:24When you decide to make that
06:26Today is Thursday
06:27So you don't need to rush
06:28If you do go on the beach
06:29Make sure the water is by your ankles
06:31Just for safety purposes
06:33And the beach has been
06:34Very rough indeed
06:35So I'm asking persons
06:36Especially when you go
06:37With the younger ones
06:38When you go with the children
06:39Please exercise that
06:40Care and caution
06:41Alcohol
06:42And seawater
06:43They do not
06:45Play
06:47Well
06:47Yes
06:48I am asking persons
06:49To be vigilant
06:50I'm asking persons
06:51To really take
06:52That time
06:53Make that effort
06:54To protect the young ones
06:56Out there
06:56Your supervision
06:58Is necessary
07:01We don't want
07:02Any sad stories
07:04Coming out
07:05Of this weekend
07:06And especially
07:07Friday is a day
07:08Of peace and love
07:09Right
07:09So we have to make sure
07:10That we preserve that
07:12And use that as an example
07:14Moving forward
07:15As we celebrate
07:15With our Muslim brothers
07:17And sisters
07:17Now
07:18You have any update
07:19With regards to
07:20The kidnapping victim
07:21Cody Narine
07:22No not at the moment
07:24Okay so I assure you
07:25You will keep us up to the end
07:26Yes as soon as I
07:27We have further information
07:28I will let you know
07:28But what I'm certain
07:29About is that my officers
07:30Are indeed out there
07:31I will tell you something
07:32Once there's a kidnapping
07:34And the kidnapping unit
07:36At AKU has been activated
07:38They go relentlessly
07:40Without rest
07:42Until
07:43That person
07:44Yes
07:46Is formed
07:47Now you're seeing
07:48Spike now
07:48I know you can't give us
07:49Too much information
07:50On what is taking place
07:51Now
07:52Where kidnappings
07:53Clearly
07:53It's like picking up
07:54This trend
07:55Of serious momentum
07:56And persons are feeling
07:57Very free and comfortable
07:59Committing some of these acts
08:01And we're seeing also
08:02Non-nationals participating
08:03Where are we with
08:04Those two things
08:05With the kidnapping spike
08:06And the non-nationals
08:07Who feel comfortable
08:08To commit crime
08:10In our country
08:10Well I am saying
08:11I am always careful
08:13How we use the word spike
08:14You know
08:17Sometimes you may have
08:18A particular crime
08:19And they may have
08:19Zero for the same period
08:20That's how statistics
08:21Are measured
08:22One
08:24May not necessarily
08:25Mean a spike
08:26Yes
08:27You know what I'm saying
08:28So when we're talking
08:28Spike we need to ensure
08:29That spike is comparable
08:30With the same period
08:32Understood
08:32As the previous year
08:34So that in mind
08:35When you speak about
08:37Non-nationals
08:38That is the same situation
08:38That we see in Tobago
08:40At times
08:41Where if somebody
08:42Comes into the country
08:43And they don't know
08:44The country
08:46It's our locals
08:47Right
08:48Who are teaching them
08:49The ropes
08:51Our locals
08:51Who are showing them
08:52Where to pass
08:53What to do
08:54Our locals
08:55Are the ones
08:55Doing the hiring
08:57So we are asking
08:58Our locals
08:58To stop their nonsense
09:00So that we can
09:01Make you know
09:01And Tobago
09:02A safer place
09:03You see
09:03It goes back to
09:04The same thing
09:04I'm saying
09:05Persons offer bribe
09:06And then say
09:07Taking bribe
09:07And we need to start
09:09Prosecuting the persons
09:10Who are offering the bribe
09:12People have to take
09:13Accountability
09:14For their behavior
09:15And their contribution
09:18To the crimes
09:19That we are having
09:20Even a person
09:21Who decides
09:21To turn a blind eye
09:22By you
09:23Omitting to give
09:24The information
09:25You would have also
09:26Contributed to the crime
09:27Because when persons
09:28Are comfortable
09:29That hey
09:30And we would have had
09:31Incidents of this before
09:32Where
09:33You would have seen
09:34Shooting in broad daylight
09:35In the capital
09:37Sometimes you go
09:38No one saw
09:39Yes
09:39No one
09:40No one
09:41Never sees
09:41No one saw
09:42However
09:43If it's something
09:44That the police do
09:45Is a wreck
09:46It's an arrest
09:48Is a search
09:50Everybody sees
09:51Well they know
09:52You all can't harm them
09:53In some way
09:54So I mean
09:55That's why they feel
09:56Comfortable
09:56Knowing that
09:57You will be held
09:58Comfortable
09:58Not saying
09:59As an excuse
09:59Because then you allow
10:01Any criminal element
10:02To run wild
10:02To run wild
10:03And it could be you
10:04Next
10:04Or your family
10:05Your relative
10:07So we are asking
10:08For the continued support
10:09And cooperation
10:10Of the public
10:11We have the public
10:12Interest at hand
10:13We don't have
10:14All the resources
10:15Our resources
10:16Are not infinite
10:17But we try to do
10:19The best with what we have
10:21We understand
10:21The state and the economy
10:22Not only in Trinidad
10:23But throughout
10:24The entire world
10:25Is in some level
10:26Of debt right now
10:27And we all need
10:28To manage our resources
10:29So if we could have
10:30More eyes
10:30And more airs
10:31Out there
10:31To help us
10:32To make our jobs easier
10:34We would appreciate that
10:36And I know
10:37They will come
10:37Yes they will
10:38There are some
10:38Corrupt officers
10:40Every organization
10:41Have within it
10:41Some element
10:42Of corruption
10:43We are human beings
10:44We are dealing with
10:44But it's less than more
10:46It is less than more
10:48And for those
10:49Who have information
10:50On corrupt officers
10:51We always ask
10:52That you bring it
10:52Because we would have
10:54Seen recently
10:54Of course
10:55How we treat
10:55With our own
10:56When we have enough
10:57Evidence
10:57And we find them
10:58We arrest them
10:59And put them
11:00Before the court
11:00So we are asking you
11:01To continue to support us
11:02Now some information
11:03From the TTPS
11:04According to the
11:05Media release
11:06Now kidnapping
11:07Victim released
11:08The Trinidad
11:09And Tobago
11:09Police Service
11:10Confirmed the safe
11:11Recovery
11:11Of kidnapping
11:13Victim
11:13Suraj Ramlakan
11:15Following an
11:17Intelligence led
11:17Multi-agency
11:19Operation conducted
11:20On the night
11:21Of Wednesday
11:2119th March
11:222026
11:23Within the
11:24Central Division
11:25Now Ramlakan
11:2757
11:28Was kidnapped
11:29On Saturday
11:3014th March
11:312026
11:32And a ransom
11:33Was subsequently
11:34Demanded
11:35For his
11:35Safe release
11:37So we have
11:38Some good news
11:39There
11:39Good news
11:39Always to the
11:40Family
11:40And good news
11:41And thank you
11:42TTPS
11:43And all the
11:44Other apparatus
11:44Of the Ministry
11:45Of National Security
11:45That would have
11:46Assisted in that
11:47Exercise
11:47Because I will
11:48Tell you something
11:49Something you would
11:49Hear
11:49They say
11:51The victim
11:52Has been released
11:53But 99%
11:54Of the time
11:55The victim
11:56Has been released
11:57As a result
11:57Of the pressure
11:59Placed on the
12:00Individuals
12:01Or that particular
12:01Area
12:03That caused them
12:05To release the victim
12:06And I'll mention
12:06This also
12:07That I didn't mention
12:08In the release
12:08The police are still
12:09Investigating the matter
12:10Because a ransom
12:11Was paid
12:11So obviously
12:12They want to
12:13Apprehend these
12:13Individuals
12:14Who committed
12:15This crime
12:16For them not to
12:17Feel comfortable
12:17Enough to do
12:18This again to
12:19Another family
12:20Or even come back
12:21To the same family
12:22And we still
12:22Don't know
12:23Further
12:23Until we get
12:24Updates
12:24From the
12:25TTPS
12:25We would
12:26Work on it
12:26And we would
12:27Give the public
12:27An update
12:28When the time
12:29Is coming
12:29Now more from
12:30The TTPS
12:30Fraud alert
12:32Scammers
12:33Impersonating police
12:34And bank officials
12:35We need you all
12:35To please listen
12:36To this
12:36The TTPS
12:37Is warning
12:38Members of the
12:38Public
12:39To be vigilant
12:40Following a report
12:41Of an elderly
12:42Woman being
12:42Defrauded
12:43Of over
12:44$11,000
12:44TT
12:45By a scammer
12:46Posing as a
12:47Police officer
12:48Yes someone who
12:49Looks like
12:50Our officer
12:51Nothing khaki
12:52Yeah
12:52Impersonating him
12:53Yes nothing khaki
12:55But they tried
12:55Now the victim
12:56And listen to the
12:57Ages
12:58An 80 year old
12:59Resident of West
13:00Moran's
13:00Receiving a phone
13:01Call from a
13:02Woman claiming to
13:03Be attached to
13:04The TTPS
13:04Fraud squad
13:05The caller
13:06Alleged that
13:06There were
13:10Irregularities
13:11Sorry with the
13:12Victim's bank
13:13Account and
13:14Requested
13:14Verification of
13:15Sensitive banking
13:16Information
13:17During the
13:18Calls the
13:19Victim was
13:19Sent verification
13:20Codes to
13:21Her phone
13:22And was
13:23Instructed to
13:24Share them
13:25Believing the
13:26Request is
13:26Legitimate she
13:27Complied
13:28Subsequently the
13:30Checks revealed
13:31The unauthorized
13:32Online transfers
13:33Totaling
13:33$11,226.77
13:37TT were made
13:39From the
13:40Account to
13:40Another account
13:41Without her
13:42Consent
13:43Now the
13:44TTPS advise
13:44The public
13:45Please pay
13:46Attention to
13:47This
13:47Do not share
13:48Verification codes
13:49Pins or
13:51Banking information
13:51With anyone over
13:53The phone or via
13:54Text message
13:55Banks and
13:56Police officers
13:57Will never request
13:58Sensitive financial
13:59Information in
14:00This manner
14:01Be cautious of
14:03Calls claiming
14:03Urgency or
14:05Threatening account
14:05Issues to
14:06Pressure you
14:07Into acting
14:08Quickly
14:09Always verify
14:10Directly with
14:11Your bank using
14:12Official contact
14:13Numbers if you
14:14Receive suspicious
14:15Calls if you
14:17Receive such a
14:17Call hang up
14:18Immediately
14:19Yes
14:20And you know
14:21I want to
14:22Reiterate and
14:23Emphasize the
14:24Fact that the
14:25Bank would
14:27Never ask you
14:28To give out
14:28Your personal
14:29Information via
14:30The telephone
14:31Trinidad and
14:32Tobago we
14:32Have been
14:32Speaking about
14:33This time and
14:34Time again as
14:35We try to
14:35Make you more
14:36Aware
14:37I'm asking that
14:38In situations
14:39Like this
14:40You go into
14:41The bank
14:42Say okay
14:43No problem
14:44I'm coming
14:44Into the bank
14:45And you go
14:45Into the bank
14:46You know where
14:47Your home
14:47Branch is
14:47Go into your
14:48Bank with
14:49The relevant
14:49Documents to
14:50See what
14:50Happens
14:50The most that
14:51I have ever
14:52Received from
14:52The bank is
14:53Probably with
14:53Respect to
14:55Verification of
14:56A credit card
14:57Transaction and
14:58Even in that
14:59Case they
14:59Don't ask
15:01Any number
15:01Any personal
15:02Information so
15:03I am
15:04St. John
15:04Antibagos we
15:05Need to be
15:05Vigilant we
15:06Need to be
15:06Wise we
15:07Cannot always
15:07Be falling
15:08Victim to
15:08The same
15:09Thing the
15:10The fact that
15:11The person
15:11Is 80
15:12Years
15:12Old I'm
15:13Wondering
15:15Because
15:16Clearly the
15:17Age is
15:18A factor
15:18And they
15:18Expected that
15:19Person not
15:20To be
15:20Too hip
15:21To the
15:21Trend
15:21Or to
15:22Catch
15:22On
15:22This is
15:23Why we
15:23On the
15:24T.P.C.
15:24To educate
15:24The masses
15:25However
15:27Sometimes when
15:28I hear things
15:28Like that I
15:29Wonder who
15:30Was really
15:30Involved who
15:31Would have
15:32Said whether
15:33It's a
15:33Family member
15:34A friend
15:34Or somebody
15:35Within the
15:35Confines of the
15:36Banking institution
15:37Or somebody
15:38You hire
15:39To say
15:39Target this
15:40Person
15:41So again
15:43I'm asking
15:43That we
15:44Be careful
15:44Of those
15:46We have
15:46Around us
15:47Be
15:47Careful
15:49Alright
15:50At this time
15:50Let's take a
15:51Look at
15:51What's making
15:52The update

16:41Well today
16:42We are seeing
16:43That no
16:43Additional
16:43Fire
16:44Is recovered
16:44However
16:45We still
16:45See an increase
16:46With respect
16:46To the
16:47Ammunition
16:47And the
16:49Drugs
16:49And the
16:50Just
16:50As a
16:50Continuous
16:51Sign
16:51As to
16:53What we
16:53Are facing
16:54In the
16:54Country
16:55And that
16:55We need
16:56An all
16:56Hands
16:56On deck
16:57Approach
16:57To really
16:58Combat
16:58This
16:59Scourge
16:59Of

21:35let's move to the world as I'm going to get a lot of early coming, right,
21:36and I'm going to have a big release of you.
21:37All right, neat, all right, you've been with you.
21:48You're just a big influence and you've seen the world as well, I'm going to have a big
22:06Who cares, who cares, who really cares, who cares, I care because I know that tobacco
22:13use is the single largest preventable cause of cancer related that's real life, smoking
22:18cigarettes has been found to harm almost every organ and organ system in your body, you
22:23can do something about that, don't smoke, if you do, stop, I care because cancer doesn't.
22:48And we're back, remember you can give us a call at 623-1711, extension 1996 and 1997.
22:55If you're now joining us, we have my course with me, ASP Russell.
22:58Now, you always mention on the show when we are on ASP that, you know, the good old days
23:04and you remember how parents and the village used to raise us and the importance of us
23:09as a community making sure that we hold our children accountable for their actions along
23:14with the parents.
23:16Where are we with that?
23:17How do you feel about that as we continue this conversation?
23:19Well, you know, as we spoke about bringing back the old time days, you know, it's something
23:24that we really need to go about.
23:26And I'm talking positive influence, I'm sure, and Tobago, not the so-called gang, as I'm
23:30speaking about positive influence, you know, for the teachers in the community to come out
23:36and give that lesson for the parents, the grandparents, the community activities.
23:40Remember a long time when we were East Antin, you're short of a little cricket, a little
23:44football competition.
23:46We need to get back these things into the community, you know.
23:49Maybe the stakeholders and maybe the government could do a little more investment, you know,
23:53but we need the community to bring the proposals and come and attempt to do something for yourself
23:58to show that you yourself have that love and that buy-in in your community to make
24:02your community a better place.
24:03No, I will say this, there are many persons within the communities that we may not be
24:06aware of that they continuously make sure that they step up in the community for persons
24:12and we commend, yes, you all for that.
24:14But it's not just your sentiments that you feel like that alone.
24:17No.
24:17You've seen some international artists who feel the same way and who has a lot of Caribbean
24:21blood in them.
24:22Take a look at this video.
24:23My beautiful mother and my hard-working father, two very disciplined, old-fashioned Jamaican
24:36people.
24:39I've been doing this for 35 years professionally.
24:47First thing I want to do, I want to big up Spliff and I want to big up Scratch-A
24:51-Tour.
24:56Because I knew them before I moved to Long Island and got with leaders of the new school.
25:04And when leaders of the new school kicked me out of the group, I came back to them.
25:09Spliff is a Trini, Scratch-A-Tour is a Belizean.
25:15I know these brothers since I was seven years old.
25:19And we was raised by a community at the time when community used to raise children.
25:24And the community was a Westernian community.
25:28It's like manners and respect was super important.
25:33We was around hustlers.
25:35They sell their weed or whatever.
25:37They're doing whatever they're doing in the street.
25:40They smoke a Spliff and drinking or whatever.
25:43But when the parents got off the bus, everybody put out their cigarette, put out their weed.
25:49You straighten up and you...
25:52The high instantly goes away because you want to make sure that you look proper and you ain't
25:57misrepresenting your family.
26:00I come from a time where our Caribbean community gave our neighbors permission to bust your ass if
26:07you misbehaved.
26:11And then when your parents came home, they bust your ass again.
26:15I got a lot of heroes in this room that raised me through music.
26:19Muju Bantan is one of them.
26:23He's one of my heroes.
26:26And I know we in similar age group, but I grew with him.
26:29I grew with Sizzler.
26:31I grew with Bounty.
26:34I grew with Ninja Man.
26:36I grew with Papa-san and Lieutenant Stitchy.
26:42Lecturer, Professor Nuts, Tiger.
26:45And I remember buying a Sting Clash from 1986.
26:50And it was Papa-san versus Lieutenant Stitchy.
26:54And that's the first time I saw speed rap.
26:59And I was like, these dudes are superheroes to me.
27:03I want to be like that.
27:05So I learned how to speed rap.
27:08And I performed at the Apollo Theater when I was 16 with leaders of the new school and
27:12we got booed.
27:14And my father was happy.
27:18See it there?
27:19Yeah, we're standing like a rapper boy business and I'm going to sit down on our own tread.
27:27Long story short, I just want to thank everybody that still believes that the importance of
27:34raising a child as a community, especially in the Caribbean community.
27:43I want to thank y'all for not deviating from something that was needed and it was super important.
27:52Now that's one of the top hip-hop artists in the world, Busta Rhymes.
27:56And as he said, his both parents are Jamaican.
27:59And some of his closest friends, one of his closest friends are from Trinidad and Tobago.
28:04Yes, T.
28:05Miss Husband, so you'll recognize that the problem that we are seeing, and he was raised
28:09by a Jamaican family.
28:11Yes.
28:11So we know it's a Caribbean phenomenon.
28:13Correct.
28:14When I saw it, I saw it on my batch chat and I sent it for Jackie because I believe
28:18it could
28:19help to inspire.
28:20It could help to motivate.
28:21It could help to probably bring some impetus into the society as to show us, to illustrate
28:28where we would have gone wrong so that we could get back on the right track.
28:31Let me tell you something.
28:32I think I am a product of that where when persons tell my mother what I did wrong, I
28:39would get an additional.
28:40Yes.
28:41When my mother, she's going to laugh crazy when she got home and when she's watching.
28:46And I remember those days and now persons who feel to discipline their own always meet
28:53my mother and commend her about the good job she did.
28:56But it's not just my mom.
28:57It's the community of Picton, the community of Eastern Quarry that would have told my mother
29:02that is how I ended up here.
29:04Because I could have well had a record because I would have partooking, you know, and stuff
29:12like that.
29:12So I am saying that when I stand here, I stand as an example to tell the single parents, to
29:20tell the fathers remaining in children's life, to tell the single parents, don't give up.
29:25My mother would have tried to give up, but I was her one son, still her one son, and she
29:31just couldn't let me fall by the wayside.
29:34And parents, your words are powerful.
29:37Be careful what you tell your children.
29:39I totally agree with that.
29:40Speak positivity.
29:41Speak love.
29:42Speak ambition.
29:44Yes.
29:44Yes.
29:45Yes.
29:45Yes.
29:47It would not work because it would stick with them and all.
29:49Of course.
29:50And it takes a lot of strength.
29:51My mother used to say anything come to her mind.
29:54Anything.
29:56I know she's watching, but say what?
29:58She would say anything that comes to her mind, hurtful or otherwise.
30:01Yes.
30:02She would pelt anything that comes in her hands.
30:03What's close.
30:04That is close.
30:04What's close to her.
30:05But you know what?
30:06I thank God that my mother never gave up on me.
30:10I have an aunt who used to tell me, when I travel, she said, you could go here one Saturday
30:14night, but Sunday morning, Brooklyn Tabernacle, and I say, I am 17, 18, 19, and I had to go
30:21to church.
30:22Of course.
30:22And I joined the police service at 18, and I was already at police.
30:26My mother said to me, she said, you ain't no police in this house.
30:29I'm the police.
30:30I still had chores.
30:31Imagine you're a big man looking at people on your chores.
30:34Still had to do what we had to do.
30:36Yes.
30:36So I became a man when I moved into my own house, and I want to read me there.
30:41Yeah, yeah, yeah.
30:41Correct.
30:42But you're going to be with a serious note, though, and, and,
30:44that is an international rapper, and you could see where it came from.
30:48Let's see how best we could get back to those days.
30:51Now, we are losing to many youths.
30:53We have seen 40-year-olds before the court, and the youths have so much talent.
30:57All they want to feel is that loving of them.
31:00Just want to know, somebody care.
31:02Do not let the gang tell your children that they are the ones that care.
31:07Because they don't.
31:08I beg of you.
31:10All right.
31:10We take that short break.
31:11We'll be back.
31:12All right.
31:30We'll be back.
31:31Oh, yeah. Now take it back. Let me see you. Rock off. Rock off. Shake off. Shake off. Let me
31:37see you. Rock off. Rock off. Let me see you. Kick right. Now kick left. Now step forward. Now step
31:42back. Luke's aid. Bring the energy.

33:15Good day, Trinidad and Tobago. A safer nation begins with you standing up, speaking out, and doing your part. As
33:21your commissioner of police, I am prepared to do my part. Are you prepared to do your part? Get on
33:27board. Are you on board?
33:28I am Bishop Ezekiel Clark, President of the Coover Police Station Community Council. And I am proud to say that
33:37I am on board with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service in their fight against crime in Trinidad and Tobago.
33:44I am Panis Dean Galston. And I am Panis Johan Jokri. And crime prevention is everybody's business.
33:53Hi, I am Sajina Khadir, Attorney at Law and Team Lead for the Attorneys for the TTPS Community Justice Clinic.
34:00We support the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service in the fight against crime.
34:04Crime prevention is everybody's business. I am Shiraz Khan. I am a farmer. I support the TTPS in the fight
34:11against crime.
34:12My name is Maldok Maraj, President of the Shavonna's Chamber of Industry and Commerce. Crime fighting is everybody's business.
34:20We are all in board.
34:37And we are back. And remember, the phone lines are open. You can give us a call at 623-1711,
34:42extension 1996 and 1997.
34:45ASP, with a mid-release here, that, again, the officers are working extremely hard.
34:50Say that again.
34:51Not just their work. The officers are working extremely hard. All right.
34:55And let me just say, with the report that we have here, a Canaan man fined $100,000 for firearm
35:02and ammunition offenses.
35:03A 50-year-old businessman of 50, 5-0, of Golden Grove.
35:08The officer of Canaan has been fined $100,000 after pleading guilty to firearm and ammunition charges at the Scarborough
35:15Magistrate Court.
35:16Now, Nigel Anderson appeared before senior magistrate on Thursday, March 19, 2026, where he admitted to being in possession of
35:26two revolvers and 12 rounds of .38 ammunition.
35:30Anderson must fined $100,000 with an alternative sentence of five years hard labor if the fine is not paid.
35:39He has been granted 18 months to pay the fine.
35:43Now, great news here, ASP. I've not given you a round of applause yet.
35:49But the reason why I've not given you a round of applause yet, after all this hard work that the
35:55officers did here,
35:57why is the court allowing this person to pay $100,000 to go his way?
36:03And 18 months to pay it? 18 months.
36:07Now, I know that you all are just doing what you apprehend the individual to bring them before the court,
36:12and then the court takes over.
36:14But after all that hard work, I have to give you all the clappers for the job well done.
36:19Job well done, Tobago.
36:20After all that hard work with the linkers, everything is linked.
36:24After all that hard work, a fine is a traffic offense.
36:31Mrs. Asp.
36:32A fine, you know?
36:34Mrs. Asp.
36:35I'm certain you see me wearing a car.
36:37I represent the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
36:40I cannot speak on behalf of the judiciary.
36:43However, the judiciary could only use what is before them and written in the law books as the sentencing.
36:50But how much?
36:51Two revolvers and 12 rungs of ammunition.
36:53I hear you.
36:55After all that work?
36:57Mrs. Husbands, I hear you.
37:01And the judiciary is an independent body.
37:04Yes.
37:05And they will continue to remain independent.
37:07Right, Mrs. Husbands?
37:07Yes.
37:08And I'm hoping that the lawmakers who watch the show, because I'm sure they do, that they see this.
37:13This is craziness.
37:14That means persons who are caught with illegal firearm will feel comfortable now.
37:20I have $100,000.
37:21So, I'll get somebody to pay $100,000 for me.
37:23And I can make my way off.
37:24Because I wouldn't have to serve duty.
37:26I'm going to have like about 18 months to pay it off.
37:28Well, let me tell you something.
37:30Just to get even further, and we will continue to search and continue to be diligent and steadfast in our
37:35job to get the illegal firearms off the street, right?
37:39Now, when we continue to search this individual or his premises from time to time, he may want to say
37:46we're targeting him.
37:47Mm-hmm.
37:48Right, but, I mean, look at what we found.
37:49Yeah.
37:50Now, there is a code outside on the streets that some of the persons who carry these illegal firearms off
37:59the opinion, better the police catch me with it than enemies catch me without it.
38:06And it just goes to show the society that what exists out there.
38:10So, when we tell you to bring the information and you think, I'm not telling the police anything, you're also
38:16doing yourselves.
38:18Yeah, but here my take, right, quickly before we get to the phone lines.
38:21After a person does that, give you all that information, and when the person goes before the court now, and
38:27they have the money to pay for it,
38:29the same person who gave you the information, watching the person, like a day in headlights, but how you reach
38:36out here and I...
38:37They may have gotten barely the same day.
38:39Exactly.
38:40As they put the court.
38:41So, listen, it can't be all putting in all this work, and the judicial system is not put in place.
38:47Where they are making sure, after all that hard work, that persons remain behind bars and understand the consequences.
38:55That's not, this is not consequences.
38:57I can have a fire, I'm not saying, I have a fire.
39:00And go before the court, and they can give me an up.
39:03It's all in honor, I don't know.
39:06But let me like the possible, if not.
39:09Let me like the possible, 50,000 and jail time.
39:13We have a caller.
39:13Call a good evening.
39:14Crazy.
39:17Hello?
39:18Finish round.
39:19Good evening.
39:20Yeah, disturbing.
39:21Good evening, ma'am.
39:22Good evening.
39:22And, officer, I would like to draw something to your attention.
39:29And, that is, on Sunday, the 15th of March, I've been trying to reach you all for the last couple
39:35of days and couldn't get you.
39:37But, on the 15th of March, at approximately 1.30 or so, we were heading west along the St. James
39:45Main Road, in the vicinity of where the licensing office used to be.
39:51And, there is an ambulance, screaming, coming, heading into Port of Sphere.
40:00So, obviously, you have to do the right thing.
40:03The legal thing is to get on the side and allow.
40:06So, there's a gentleman driving a wing road, registration number PDA601 blue.
40:19And, instead of the man pause so that my daughter, who is driving our vehicle, could make room for the
40:27ambulance to pass, he is rushing her on the left side.
40:32And, the ambulance is coming directly toward us.
40:35And, he will not move.
40:36Now, I am saying, everybody, it's something that all of us know, the police always wicked.
40:47But, behaviors like that needs to be addressed with alacrity.
40:55Because, you cannot and ought not to be doing that.
41:00You are putting lives in danger.
41:04I cannot say whether it was a female driver or a male.
41:08That is irrelevant.
41:10The registration number of the vehicle is PDA601.
41:17It's a blue wing road.
41:20And, I strongly suggest, we want to live like how we were 400 years ago, under the watchful eye of
41:31the man.
41:31And, if that is what people want, then I suggest that we give it to them.
41:39I was really annoyed, really angry.
41:44And, had it been someone else, someone who doesn't have self-control, you could have ended up with another situation
41:54right on the road that would have attracted the attention of the police at a totally different level.
42:01So, thank you, have a good evening.
42:03Thank you so much, ma'am.
42:04Yes, we can hear the frustration and anger.
42:06Not only the frustration, but the hurt.
42:08Because, I mean, you don't know who is in that ambulance.
42:11And, I'm almost certain that ambulance was going to the St. James Infirmary.
42:14And, if you are hearing the ambulance and you are seeing people trying to pull aside, why not create that
42:20space?
42:20Today, I was driving and a police vehicle was trying to get through.
42:25And, the vehicle in front of me also pulled aside.
42:27And, while others were trying to race up just to pass the vehicle, I cannot sit too long and tell
42:32them to come back out.
42:33Yes, yeah.
42:34Because, he needs to merge back into the traffic.
42:36And, this is what we are saying.
42:37The love and the care and the compassion, the consideration.
42:42That is all we are asking for, you know.
42:44That is all we are asking for.
42:46And, I'm certain that other driver heard and saw the ambulance because the ambulance was coming in an opposite direction.
42:52Trinidad and Tobago, we are asking, come on, let us make our country a better place.
42:57The country by itself, we are the country, you know.
43:00Yes.
43:01The country is as good as we make it.
43:06Yep.
43:07We take that short break.
43:08We'll be back.

43:10Go!
43:15Go!
43:16Go!

45:17Shut up!
45:17I've had enough of all of you.
45:20You are great.
45:21I'm bad enough for you.
45:22You took us from our countries under false pretends.
45:24I was working day and night like slaves and expect us to be grateful.
45:28You promised you $15, Laura, and you'll pay much less than that.
45:32And even if you don't want to take the rent out of your poor salaries.

46:10Human trafficking is a crime.
46:13Identify it.
46:14Report it.
46:15Stop it.
46:16A message from the counter-trafficking unit of the Ministry of National Security.
46:33And we are back.
46:34We'll be heading back to the phone line shortly now.
46:36We had some RTA incidents that took place, ASP,
46:39where we saw throughout the week where this,
46:41and this one in particular was by the Coover Hospital,
46:45the Coover Children's Hospital.
46:46And again, we continue to ask individuals to take your time.
46:50When you see this ASP.
46:52Wow.
46:54Of course, there would be some level of speed involved,
46:57and it's the highway.
46:59So you tend to find persons,
47:01some persons tend not to want to drive within the speed limit.
47:05And then they wonder why, you know,
47:08the wicked police keep giving people tickets for speeding.
47:12You know, you're an advocate for no tickets.
47:14Me?
47:15No, you.
47:17Not me at all.
47:18Miss Husbands.
47:19At all.
47:19There's an advocate for no tickets.
47:22But, and this is why we have to emphasize
47:25that we will be out there this weekend,
47:28because it's trying to be a tent a while out of our long weekend.
47:31I don't know what happens to our society on our long weekend.
47:35And we have quite a few.
47:36We have quite a few coming up.
47:39So we will be out there to try our best to keep you safe on the nation's road.
47:45But let me say something.
47:46Safety on the road, which starts with you,
47:49and for persons who have vehicles that are still not roadworthy,
47:53especially smooth tires,
47:55because rain is falling.
47:57It's like there's no longer rainy season or dry season,
47:59because sometimes you're getting some hard showers.
48:01Yes, yes.
48:02So you cannot say, well, I don't need to rush to change your tires.
48:05You know, keep your vehicle roadworthy,
48:07because that can only save you.
48:08If you have to swerve, if you have to avoid something,
48:11keep your vehicle serviceable, keep your vehicle roadworthy,
48:13and pay attention.
48:16Put down the cell phones.
48:17And be in the speed limit, because that could also save your life.
48:19Drive within the speed limit, Channel Island, Tobago.
48:23Please and thank you.
48:24All right.
48:24Now we have to Tobago, where there's a different angle,
48:27and this accident took place on March 12th,
48:30and this is with the fire officer on the motorcycle, Jerome Jack.
48:37Yeah, this was really sad.
48:40Jesus Christ.
48:41Yeah.
48:43Somebody was on the wrong side.
48:45Well, I am not sure from what we are looking at here from this angle.
48:53The bigger object is a vehicle.
48:56So it has to be that the officer was in his lane.
49:01It looks like he was in his lane.
49:03He was in his lane.
49:04Surely in his lane.
49:05Yeah.
49:05Because he's on the left side.
49:06Come in that way.
49:07Or he is more to the right.
49:08Yeah.
49:09Yeah.
49:09Because he's on your left side.
49:10Correct.
49:10Come in that way.
49:11Yeah.
49:12Because look at space to the left.
49:13Look at space to the left.
49:14Wow.
49:17Is this a manslaughter situation, yeah?
49:21Yes, husbands, when an accident occurs,
49:24the train to be the police say we will do our investigation.
49:28And because it's a fatal, a ranked officer has to do that investigation
49:32because of the experience and the knowledge,
49:34there would be a lot of things to take place.
49:36There will be photographing of the scene.
49:38The DMO has to come to the scene.
49:39There will be marking of the spots.
49:41There will be measurements of the spot.
49:42And a comprehensive report is done at the end of the investigation
49:47where certain recommendations would be made.
49:50I cannot stand here and say whether it will be a manslaughter.
49:52Of course not.
49:53I just ask.
49:54Because of what we saw.
49:55But whoever is deemed responsible for the accident
50:03will have to account for their misgivings.
50:07Yeah.
50:08All right.
50:08So with regards to that accident,
50:11there are, of course, condolences.
50:12Yes, condolences to the family.
50:12Yes, condolences to the family and all of the persons, yes.
50:15And loved ones and friends of Mr. Jack.
50:18Now, we are going from a somber moment into a moment
50:22where life is very important and it's priceless.
50:25And we have a young man who is eight years old today.
50:29And that is Shiv Ramsume.
50:32And he's celebrating his birthday today
50:33on behalf of the entire Beyond the Tape family.
50:36We send birthday greetings to you.
50:38And we hope that you enjoy your day to the fullest.
50:40A very vibrant, intelligent young man.
50:44And I could see he has a bright future.
50:46Well, that is important and that is good.
50:48Happy birthday, Mr. Shiv Ramsume.
50:50Yes.
50:50And I call you Mr.
50:51So full respect you.
50:53Yes, of course.
50:55All right.
50:55We get ready to head back to the phone line.
50:56Remember, you could give us a call.
50:58And at 623-17-11 and the extension is 1996 and 1997.
51:04Now, ASP, let's talk a little bit more of what we are seeing happening
51:09where persons now are realizing that it doesn't matter which area you live.
51:15It could be gated.
51:16It could be a space where persons say, you know, we don't have any issues.
51:20We are usually a safe community.
51:22But now it's coming to you.
51:24What could persons continue to do to make sure to protect themselves
51:28even though they may feel comfortable enough in the community in much detail of it?
51:31Well, let me tell you something.
51:33It goes back to the same thing community, comradery community,
51:36the same thing Buster Rines was saying.
51:37We had to be our brother's keeper.
51:40And, you know, you can introduce a neighborhood watch group.
51:43I know Mr. Carmichael has played a significant role throughout China and Tobago
51:49in assisting residents to forming neighborhood watch groups.
51:53And we commend them for that as well.
51:55Know your police officers in your station.
51:57Have the police, the station numbers on your phone.
52:01Yes.
52:02That could be easily accessible so that when things happen,
52:06you can notify the police easily.
52:09Your security, you cannot put a price on your security.
52:14And if it's a community where persons are well off and they could probably even jump up together
52:20and put together for some sort of private security as well, some kind of private mobile,
52:25because there are communities that do that.
52:27Yes.
52:28All these things would go a long way, because you want to make sure that when you're home, you can
52:35relax.
52:36You don't want to be walking around in a constant state of alertness.
52:39You need, God, I would send you crazy, you need some level of relaxation, some level of downtime.
52:43And if you cannot relax at home, I don't know where again you would be able to relax.
52:49I'm asking that you do all in your power.
52:51For the neighborhood watch group is an effective tool.
52:54And we ask some persons, you know, Mr. Carmichael, he has played a significant role in helping a lot of
53:00communities,
53:00even where I live in Cleaver Heights, to set up and stuff like that.
53:03But what happens is maintenance of it, because some persons, this one watching, this one didn't come out,
53:08this one didn't come out last night.
53:10So it's really a group effort.
53:11And we cannot allow things to fall by the wayside because of our selfishness.
53:16So I'm asking that we really be our brother's keeper and you help us.
53:19Yes.
53:19Because when you form those neighborhood watch groups, you're also helping us.
53:21That's one less community that we'd have to be able to redeploy our resources to cheat with other things.
53:27We still come and look for you.
53:28We still pass and make sure everything is everything.
53:31But we get to put it to areas where we have a bigger problem.
53:35Yes.
53:36We have back to the phone.
53:36We have a call on the line.
53:37Caller, good evening.
53:39Yes.
53:40Good evening.
53:41And how are you, young lady?
53:42I'm all right, sir.
53:43How are you today?
53:44Well, I'm doing all right, you know.
53:46I just wanted to speak to the gentleman that I named him, officer.
53:50Good evening, sir.
53:51I'm going to ask him a question.
53:53You can go ahead, sir.
53:56It's regarding, I listened to him, I think it was yesterday, and about people offering officers drinks and all that,
54:09and they could be charged.
54:11And that's a good point he brought up.
54:15And then, I want to ask him another question in relation to that.
54:22Go ahead, sir.
54:24Yes?
54:25Yes, you can go ahead.
54:26What is the other question?
54:29Well, the question is, people want to offer an officer a drink and all that, and they could be charged.
54:38Okay.
54:38Not a problem with that.
54:39So, what I'm thinking now, I've been in many bars, and people come and, oh, officer, come and have a
54:45drink and all that, and he will never refuse.
54:49He will take the drink, and whatever, it's been by history.
54:54So, what is their comment, officer?
54:58All right.
54:58Thank you so much, Sue.
55:00Yes, please.
55:00And I'm happy that you said that, because I hope my officers that are listening would understand that when their
55:07friends call them for a drink in the bar, your friend cannot see you in your uniform with a firearm
55:13on you and call you in a bar to have a drink that does not look good on you.
55:18You are incapable of handling that firearm when you're under the influence of alcohol.
55:23You are disrespecting the uniform for each other and to make a police service.
55:27You are eroding the trust that we are trying to build with the public, and it's your same friend who's
55:33going to go back and say, them police drinking on the walk, them police just take bribe.
55:37The same person that will offer you the bribe, or the drink for you to turn the blind eye, or
55:42the money for you to turn the blind eye is the same person that's going to go and say, all
55:45the police call up, and they sit with their friends and then the bar talk us.
55:49But we are also complicit in that both the persons who are making the offer and those who are accepted.
55:54So I'm saying to my officers out there, drink on your spare time.
55:59Not on the police side.
56:00Do not go into the bars and you pop up, because every, and I'm saying, these things are things of
56:06old, because now everybody have a camera phone, everybody has security cameras, and as you go on, you're same friend.
56:13You're a good friend, you know, who call you in the bar.
56:15Or your partner who own the bar, who say, you're in your bar is an outsider, pass you and drink
56:19something now.
56:20Yes.
56:21So he's using you there for security one time, because he wants to say, my bar saved the police, always
56:25there.
56:25He gives you something to drink, and then he posts the video, watch them the drinking on the walk.
56:29Tell me how that is, your friend.
56:30But they could drink water.
56:31They could drink water.
56:32Yes.
56:32Even if they go into an establishment and they offer them water, they could, right?
56:36Water's okay.
56:37Yeah.
56:38But you want not to offer the offer.
56:40Yeah.
56:40Still be careful.
56:41You know, you're off, and I know there are officers who don't even take out water from persons.
56:44There are quite a few.
56:45And that is what I was saying.
56:46They don't take it.
56:47What do you offer sapling?
56:48They're just protecting themselves, and I understand that.
56:51Of course.
56:51So, ASP, it's a pleasure as usual having you here with us.
56:54It's just a short week.
56:55I know you'll be working tomorrow.
56:56Sure be.
56:57And those of you will be out for the holiday.
