02:41Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago international audience.
02:44And of course, our brothers and sisters in Grenada.
02:47It is Friday, yes.
02:50It's the end of yet another work week.
02:52And we are in a new month, but either way, we hope that you'll have an enjoyable day today.
02:57And today, we have a special guest with us, a gentleman again that I'm always pleased to have here.
03:02And he's always willing to be on the show.
03:04We have DCP Benjamin here with us.
03:09And we'd like to welcome you.
03:10And first of all, I want to find out from you, how was your independence long weekend?
03:16Wow.
03:17Well, it was hectic, but it was wonderful.
03:21Yes.
03:22I really sensed that level of pride.
03:24I was, you know, there, you know, watching the troops.
03:28And I think I was really proud of Trinidad and Tobago because in a new venue, I thought that, you
03:34know, persons might not have come.
03:36Yes, yes.
03:37But it was amazing to see how people, you know, the citizens really rallied around and showed that level of
03:44patriotism.
03:45I felt proud of being a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago.
03:48And I just want to commend Trinidad and Tobago for just a job well done.
03:52And also, all those who participated in the independence celebrations, I think it was a wonderful time.
03:59Well, they looked sharp.
04:00Yes, certainly.
04:01And most importantly, it was clear that you all received praises with regards to, you know, the hard work that
04:08you all continue to put in the TTPS.
04:11That is, because we are the other services, but part of the military service, but we're speaking more of the
04:16TTPS.
04:16And let me just say, I mean, we have taken time when we were seeing, you know, we have gotten
04:23a lot of, you know, licks, you know,
04:25but sometimes it's just really good to be on the better side where people at least appreciate the fact that
04:32we have been working hard
04:33and we've seen some small fruits, and for that, we are grateful.
04:38We're always humble.
04:39But nevertheless, I would always say, you know, given all commissioners mandate to us, we're never really satisfied because there
04:46is so much more.
04:47Every murder we see is one murder too much, so we really need to work on it.
04:50But I think that it's good to know that people appreciate the work that we're doing, and we're grateful.
04:56And what I'm happy to say as well is that the incidents were like none.
05:00And we had CPL as well on the night or the day, I should say, of independence that evening, and
05:06things were flowing,
05:07so persons were able to get the cultural show, enjoy themselves, and persons who wanted to participate in the cricket,
05:13they were able to as well.
05:15Yes, and I must commend, first and foremost, the goal commander, the CP Martin and her team.
05:21I think it's a team effort, all the different parts working together to ensure that the independence plus the CPL,
05:30everything runs smoothly.
05:31But I think that we must also commend, you know, the citizenry because it shows that we are law-abiding
05:38citizens.
05:38And I'm really grateful to be part of this great country and nation called Trinidad and Tobago because I'm really
05:45proud of all people.
05:46And I think that, you know, this is a step in the right direction as we continue to be law
05:50-abiding citizens.
05:51Now, the major conversation, we always hear the TTP as being in the news, may it be good or even
05:57bad,
05:57but in this case, we are hearing from the Minister of Homeland Security when it is coming to Pirine Drain.
06:03That is serious, a serious take where persons may not understand how this could affect the performance of the officers.
06:13Yeah, well, I think more and more we recognize that we are seeing our officers leaving the service,
06:20and the reason that we are leaving the service is because especially some of these officers are at the point
06:26where they are on the brink of,
06:28once they are promoted from the second division to the first division,
06:33at least they would have an extra five years or so within the service at this point in time.
06:37When we have these officers who have a wealth of experience because of either court matters or so forth,
06:45they are unable to at least experience, you know, what is rightfully theirs in terms of promotion.
06:54It really brings that brain drain because it means that there would be that loss of knowledge that we believe
07:01can be passed on to the younger police officers.
07:04And it is something that we are looking at.
07:07We continue to really hope and pray that there would be a speedy solution to all the matters that we
07:13have in the court system
07:15so that officers can be promoted and that at least, you know, we can save, you know,
07:21the remnants of those of us that are remaining to ensure that there is some level of experience that we
07:27continue to pass to the next generation.
07:29So can I ask this quickly then, for persons who are being promoted and one, let's say we have five
07:35persons who are supposed to be promoted
07:36and out of the five, one person was not able to be promoted because of obviously not passing,
07:42I'm assuming the exams that are required to reach that promotional stage, correct?
07:48Yes.
07:49Right, that is the way in which it is done, I'm asking.
07:52Yes, so you must pass an examination.
07:55All right, after you've passed an examination, you then wait until we have an interview for the position.
08:04Then when interviewed, a person is placed on a merit-based system.
08:09And from that merit-based system, the commissioner, when he so desires to have persons that based on the vacancies,
08:19he would promote from that number, right?
08:23Okay, and the promotion happens and one of the persons out of the five did not get the position
08:30and I decide I am going to court now because of that one person taking legal action.
08:35That means everything has to stop or go on pause?
08:40Well, it all depends on the decision of the judge in that particular case
08:48because what you recognize is some people ask for a judicial review.
08:52Yes.
08:53In so doing, they might cause the whole process to stop to ensure that the process was done properly.
08:59All right, in some cases, you will find that they ask either for the list to be stayed
09:06or in some cases, they will put the process on hold until a decision is made in relation to ensure
09:14fairness
09:15for at least the person or persons who have applied, you know, to have the judicial review or for the
09:22matter.
09:23All right, it's a legal system.
09:27But nevertheless, we are saying that the number of systems or cases that we have in the courts
09:34sometimes can stymie the process because as we are waiting for the judgment,
09:40it means that persons are slowly exiting the organization
09:45and more and more experienced and knowledgeable police officers are meeting their full quota in terms of time.
09:53And this is something that we are saying that we really would like to see some level of, you know,
10:00alacrity in terms of dealing with these situations so that we can at least have these officers, you know,
10:07get their due benefits in terms of being promoted and also being able to contribute more to the police service.
10:13Well, I hope we get there soon because I'm fed up saying acting, acting, acting.
10:18It's not acting class.
10:19We're not in Hollywood, right?
10:20But let's talk about the men's brew because we know that is something that is brewing.
10:24And let's just take a quick look because there's a lot we could discuss on it.
10:27But tell us a little bit more about this.
10:29Yes.
10:29So today we had a wonderful time.
10:33We went to what we call the NOTF.
10:37They had a wellness seminar day and they had different people.
10:42They had persons from the hospital, social workers, etc.
10:47But he also asked us as the men's brew to come.
10:50And we were really just having, you know, some wonderful activities showing men the importance.
10:56One of the things you see, they were building some things and what we were really doing is really showing
11:02them the importance of working together.
11:04And how, you see, if we work together, there's much more that we can accomplish.
11:08But it was really good meeting the guys and sharing and, you know, talking with them.
11:13You recognize that they also gave their contribution, how we can improve the men's brew.
11:17And it's something very positive.
11:19They even had the time when we had to, they had some health drinks.
11:22Yes.
11:23So, I mean, I even sampled the drinks.
11:25But you are right now.
11:26Hello.
11:27And I tell you, I think I got a bit in because it was really healthy.
11:31But it was wonderful.
11:32It was a wonderful thing.
11:33I want to just commend all those, you know, I think it's Inspector Petty and all those of there for
11:43doing a tremendous job in putting that health and wellness program together.
11:47And all those who contribute, Dr. Francis and her team and, you know, the social workers, everybody, job well done.
11:54Yes.
11:54And it was just good sharing with them and, again, seeking to, you know, help the men become better men.
12:01Stronger.
12:01And we have stronger men will bring stronger police service, which brings stronger communities.
12:06Yes.
12:06And we need strong men out there.
12:07Yes, certainly.
12:07For those who may beg to differ.
12:09We do.
12:10Yes.
12:10We need, we don't want, we need.
12:11We need.
12:12We need strong men out there, right?
12:14Now, there was an RTA that took place today and this was in the Coover area on the northbound and
12:21there were six cars involved and this happened around 1.10 this afternoon.
12:26And again, TCP, we have been standing here along with the TTPS, not just being on this show, but also
12:34on your platforms to let persons know taking your time, being observant, vigilant on the roads.
12:40Because these things happen, accidents happen, yeah?
12:43But this is a huge inconvenience.
12:46Yes.
12:46Yes, yes, yes, yes.
12:47And you can ask too.
12:48And I think that we really need to urge our persons to really take their time on the road.
12:55It is so important that even as we drive on the nation's road, you have to be considerate and so
13:01maybe you have to anticipate what another person will do.
13:05So you don't need to drive for yourself, you drive for the next person.
13:08We have bumps, right?
13:09Because I call them.
13:11And there is something about speed.
13:13I don't know, everybody will leave right on the back of persons.
13:17And we know from even when we went to do our license, it's three car lengths.
13:21Length, correct.
13:22So that even if there is a sudden stop, you have no excuse for at least coming into the rear
13:29of another vehicle.
13:30So therefore, I am saying to, you know, let us practice the regulations.
13:36Let us be, you know, law-abiding citizens.
13:39And if we do that, I am saying we can stop, you know, the majority of accidents that we see
13:44on the nation's road.
13:45And I think that we are also going to also save lives in the process.
14:17And I hope that we are able to definitely do that.
14:19And I think that this is what we are saying, you know, when you bring the intelligence, when we have
14:23the intelligence, the police service, we are going to execute and we are going to ensure that we get these
14:30drugs out the street.
14:31Because this is exactly what happens when these drugs will then either go out and be sold, money comes in,
14:39more firearms on the road.
14:41And therefore, when we seek to at least, you know, get those drugs out, we are stopping a whole lot
14:46of what we call, you know, crime that, you know, is yet to come.
14:50So with that being said, let's see our SOE update as of September 4th, 2026.
14:58Number of operations, 12,725.
15:02Number of targets prior to offenders, 3,277.
15:07Searches conducted, 4,420.
15:10Traffic operations, 7,929.
15:14Total persons arrested, 5,605.
15:18Total persons charged, 1,325.
15:22Firearms recovered, we see an increase with the pistols, revolvers, and a total of 309.
15:28Ammunition recovered, we're seeing an increase with the 9mm, also the .22, a total of 6,305.
15:38And dangerous drug sees, we are seeing the increase with the cannabis, and now a major spike with the grams
15:45of cocaine.
15:46And it shows that, as you know, a police service, we are working, we are working tirelessly to ensure that
15:55at least, you know, we capitalize at this time on the SOE, and also in terms of the operations that
16:02we are doing.
16:02What we want to, I want to take the opportunity, again, just to congratulate all, you know, the different divisions
16:10for the hard work.
16:11This is certainly not a result of just one division, but it is a collaboration of the police service and
16:18the various divisions working together with the DCP operations.
16:22And also, let's not forget, DCP INI, DCP George, and her team as well, given the level of intelligence to
16:33ensure the full success of this.
16:35So, this is really an all-wrong, I should say, result that you're seeing here.
16:40And this must be, I think it would be remiss of us not to really congratulate or even recommend or
16:49commend our commission of police, who is the one that is spearheading this.
16:53He's doing a tremendous job in holding this service together at this time, and I really want to take the
16:58opportunity here just to say kudos to my commissioner.
17:01All right, so kudos to the commissioner.
17:03We just leave it.
17:04Yes, P. Russell, we give you all a round of applause.
17:05Yeah, hello.
17:06Yeah, yeah, so we will give you all that.

20:00We cover it all.
20:23And we are back.
20:24If you're now joining us, we have DCP Benjamin here with us this evening.
20:29And, of course, on Stranger to the Show, we continue with some of the issues that we are seeing that
20:34the public continues to face, DCP.
20:37And one in particular, it seems like the home invasions continue to be a major issue.
20:43Now, we have another victim.
20:44And in this case, this home invasion in the Bonaventure area.
20:49Now, elderly couple, they were robbed of cash, a vehicle, and the food they prepared by three armed intruders on
20:58Tuesday.
20:58The person is an 81-year-old man.
21:03And he recounted this.
21:04And this is what he had to say.
21:06And I want you to tell us, son.
21:09We came home about 12 o'clock.
21:12The cement will grow up there.
21:14They will sleep at about 12 o'clock on a Tuesday.
21:16So, it was here before, just before the young muscle grow.
21:20And, well, we had food to eat, so we went and eat the food at the night, and we put
21:25the veterinarian on the bed, while she seen about the other things in the Yaksajana.
21:30But with the Bible goods, by Galapaluri, so we buy enough goods for both of us now.
21:36So, when she went, I got to sit down, she went to my Bonaventure too.
21:40Yeah.
21:40Right.
21:41So, I go to bed and I woke up, I see, boy, between sleep and wake, I said, you want
21:46bowling in the kitchen.
21:48So, I said, she wants me to see some kind of kitchen in the kitchen and bowling, right?
21:53So, I said, I get up, the fellow down, the fellow down, come and come and come down.
21:57Put a gun by me here, you know.
22:00I've got this size of that gun, a black gun.
22:02Put him by me here, and he tie me up.
22:05I had the thing, he had to tie me up with.
22:07And they bring the lady, the entire shoe of the two.
22:12But, I tell myself, so I can't see the fellow face, and the fellow who tie me up,
22:18he haven't taken a thing right down, from head to the shoe, so you know, he throw away from him.
22:23Right?
22:23But he must be like, he in size, but shorter.
22:27Like, that's how he cannot get him to cut out of that when they put myself around.
22:30Right?
22:31I think, and the man think, um, one of the, um, pillow case,
22:37we will kiss, and so I put him in my mouth, so I can't go.
22:41Right?
22:41And after that, well, they bring the lady, and they charge the lady, the two against the bed.
22:46So, she will see how, when the girl was ready to put, you know.
22:49Right?
22:49And, and they say, well, but before that, before I wake up, the car, they don't go in from below
22:54the house.
22:56Yeah, the car, they pack the, it's a good thing, the lady, they don't empty the car.
22:59They just go with everything, we are not into it.
23:03Yeah.
23:05Yeah.
23:05Yeah.
23:05We didn't know that bother me, but I thought he's crying for that.
23:08You know.
23:09The man put the gun by me as well, you know.
23:12And I, under the excitement, and, while I done, ten, eleven, set up, I said,
23:17I pull the damn trigger and I'll be finished, he gets on.
23:20Yeah?
23:22And he, let me tell you something, I, since I was born, I lived in a nice life.
23:26Look, the neighbor came back to see him, he said, the man came back to the trip home.
23:32the police come up my house here and they didn't find me and then they ring back again
23:37and then the police come in the evening.
23:38I bought a load with money.
23:41We just come out the bank and things, right?
23:43How much?
23:45Well, it's a few thousand, I can't remember how much now.
23:47But we spent a good bit on there too, because we went to the pharmacy, they had spent about
23:51$200 or $300 in things, because we put 44 years good too now, and she buy too, but she
23:57bought herself.
23:57The other set up, which is set up here.
23:59And here, that's how I knew, you know, the only thing, the cabin's thing, with the room
24:04and the bumper in front of her, they end up here.
24:10A sad situation to be in having the...
24:16I will toss it to you, DCP, because I really am lost to words.
24:20Persons can't cook in a home.
24:22They can't take a nap on these demons.
24:26The man said, the man said, tell him.
24:29He told the gentleman, well, not even the gentleman, but the monster.
24:33Pull the damn trigger that we dismissed this case and done, you know?
24:38Yeah, yeah.
24:40I think that's it.
24:42People are fed up.
24:43People are frustrated.
24:45And I think we need to understand that when we see these things, it just shows you how
24:53much, I think, Trinidad and Tobago, we had enough.
24:57Some people just had enough.
24:58And it's something when people come into your home and it's like they literally, they violate, you feel violated.
25:07And they literally come and they, you know, they disturb the sanctity of your home.
25:12To go in peace.
25:12And I want to say that the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, all response to that, I am saying, must
25:19be immediate.
25:20It must be professional, but it must also be victim-centered.
25:25And therefore, we cannot be everywhere at the same time.
25:28Sometimes, you know, we might not be able to even be there.
25:32But I'm saying, we are using our intelligence-led information to help us to predict where these situations are taking
25:40place
25:40so that at least we will have greater police visibility to deal with these things.
25:45But I am saying, even when these things happen, we need to ensure that even how we deal with these
25:52situations
25:53must be one where the victims must feel that sense of appreciation that at least the police is here
26:01and we are concerned about them.
26:03We have the victim and witness program there that is also geared towards assisting the victims, you know,
26:14through this level of trauma because it is very traumatic.
26:18The man said he lived a good life.
26:19Yes.
26:20This is something you can't imagine.
26:22So I think that we have to find all these ways to try to help the society.
26:27But that being said, we also need to ensure that as we go into these areas, as much information,
26:33and this is what I want to just tell, you know, the public, that you need to help us.
26:39It is important to have cameras if that, you know, so at least there's something that we can see without
26:45any evidence.
26:48We cannot go further.
26:49So we need that.
26:50And the failure to have that, I'm saying that it's important for persons to take note of certain things as
26:57much as possible.
26:58Even though you're looking at the individual, see if there's a tattoo, something that can identify, you know, the individuals
27:05so that we can, in our investigation, have enough information that we can turn into evidence, you understand,
27:13that we can at least find the perpetrators and really bring them to justice.
27:18Because it is really overbearing at this time for so many people.
27:23It is, as I say, if you put your big two days open season, yes?
27:26Sorry, that's irresponsible.
27:27You have a caller.
27:28Caller, good evening.
27:31Good evening, Ms. Osborne, and a very, very good evening to DCP Benjamin.
27:37Good evening, good evening, sir.
27:38All right, sir.
27:39I have a couple of questions to you.
27:41Mm-hmm.
27:43The Minister Alexander, Homeland Minister, identified the human resources of the police service
27:53probably has been lost because of the stalled process of promotion.
28:01We are all aware that there are judgments against the police service with respect to promotion.
28:09There was one for ASPs that was halted by a judge.
28:17And in his judgment, he identified senior officers who were responsible for the promotional aspect of it.
28:29Operations, I believe.
28:30Operations, I believe.
28:30I won't call names.
28:32He identified, I think, the second division president at that time.
28:37He identified the external authority who were helping in the process.
28:42And he said everything was flawed because the process used by the police service was flawed, that is, was halted.
28:51I want to know if the police service has taken the necessary action to discipline those people or to retrain
29:01them or to move them out of this position because the police service has caused the problem from my vantage.
29:07The second question.
29:09The second question.
29:09When you were last here, I pointed a question to you.
29:13There was an issue that, as a citizen, I'm waiting to hear.
29:17An investigation into a kidnapping in Barbados.
29:20Two attorney generals, two court judgments say it was wrong.
29:24A senior police officer was investigating.
29:27He passed some 97 questions to the senior, senior officer who was in the middle of that, who went about
29:35it.
29:36We have not heard anything.
29:38It is for the CTPS to cleanse themselves.
29:41And you're not going to have to cleanse the junior officers.
29:44You have to cleanse the senior officers if they are doing on to work or if they do not understand
29:53their profession.
29:54And it's no fear.
29:56Thank you so much, caller, GCP.
29:58Yes.
29:59So, first of all, let me thank the caller.
30:01I really, I enjoy, I enjoy coming here.
30:04I know.
30:05You have to face the tough questions and, I mean, that's all, that's all fine.
30:09And so, let's say, the very first question, in terms of what transpired with the, that matter, my understanding is
30:19that even in the ESP officers,
30:24or persons there, that matter, there is part of that that is still before the court.
30:28Which I know.
30:29So, we are still awaiting to see exactly what is the final outcome in relation to that.
30:36And we are hoping that very soon we can have a proper result.
30:40Yes.
30:41In the judgment, certain things will mention.
30:44I want to tell you, as the DCP administration and operational support, we continue to learn.
30:52And I want to make it absolutely clear.
30:53We look at these court cases and what we're doing, even as an attorney myself, we look to see what
31:01are the areas that we need to improve.
31:04So that when we do it again, we want to not, you know, repeat the sins of the past.
31:12So, therefore, when these matters go to court, sometimes it reveals certain things.
31:17It shows probably areas that probably was done wrong and that we could improve.
31:23And that is something, it's a learning process.
31:25So, we continue to learn.
31:27However, we are putting those structures in place from all the court cases to ensure now that as we move
31:33forward that we do not repeat some of those things.
31:35So that we will be much better equipped so that we can at least have a more successful and a
31:42process with less litigations going forward.
31:44All right.
31:45So, in terms of the second matter, that is under investigation presently.
31:51This is in Congress.
31:51We can discuss that.
31:52Yeah, we can deal with that like that.
31:54Yes.
31:54But I just want to say thank you for bringing it up.
31:57And it is at least having its due in terms of the investigation process.
32:04Yes.
32:04And a lot of matters that are before the court.
32:06Please remember as well that many things that we cannot discuss on national television.
32:11All right.
32:11We need to take that break.
32:12We'll be back.

33:05You want something?
33:08Can I have a drink?
33:11I don't want anything.
33:14I love you.
33:14Perfect you, back.
33:19That's exactly what we need.
33:21Honey, the pool is too sweet.

34:16We bring you exclusive interviews with decision makers and in-depth analysis of the issues affecting your life.
34:23From Parliament to the community, from policy to people.
34:27That's what 90 minutes each night gives us.
34:30More time, more context, more of what matters.
34:57And we are back now.
34:59DCP, Benjamin, we had the opportunity yesterday where we highlighted the licensing division.
35:05And, you know, usually when persons see that uniform, they, oh gosh, there's problems.
35:11They tense up.
35:12What is going on here?
35:13But in this case, it wasn't for that.
35:16They were given back in a huge way.
35:19And we have more to show with what was taking place with the Transport Commissioner and, of course, his licensing
35:24officers.
35:25So let's continue to take that look.
35:50So when the commissioner said, don't talk on your cell phone while driving, right?
36:04And what's your name?
36:07Mr. Duncan too?
36:08Oh, that's your brother?
36:09Oh, great man.
36:11So congratulations on your wonderful school term.
36:14Study well.
36:38I must say today is a very special day for the licensing authority.
36:45It's also a special day for us because we enjoy when we work along with the TPS, more so we
36:52enjoy when we work along in the communities.
36:55But today is a unique day because the licensing office, through two senior staff, have come up with a wonderful
37:04idea and we decided to take that idea and make it a reality.
37:09And that is to have a school book drive.
37:11I want to take the opportunity also to point out these two staff who came up with that brilliant idea
37:17because I believe in transferring ideas into reality.
37:21And this is what we are here today to do, to meet out the persons in the communities, children, parents,
37:30have a discussion with them.
37:31And not their stock.
37:33We are here to provide opportunities that can help them through school.
37:36We have also recognized that persons are in need sometimes of book bags, of school accessories, of rulers, pen, folders,
37:44etc.
37:44And we have come up together and team up with our stakeholders to make this a reality for a number
37:50of persons within the community.
37:51But there's another twist to it.
37:53And that twist is not just about the book bags and school accessories, but we are here to promote safety.
38:00Because these young ones we are seeing here today, they are the drivers of tomorrow.
38:06And sometimes the little message we send today will benefit and save someone's life in a couple of years to
38:12come.
38:12So while we focus on just the academia side of things, we are concerned about safety on the nation's world.
38:19And we think this is a wonderful initiative in bringing safety to the homes and into the communities.
38:24Again, I thank you very much and one more time I must say congratulations to all of the staff of
38:30licensing office who decided to make this a reality.
38:33I am really pleased and honored to be part of this initiative that was brought about by the licensing authority.
38:39And we are very happy that they chose the Valencia Station District and particularly the Clarence Trace area to be
38:47part of this wonderful initiative.
39:04We are partnering today with the licensing officers on a book drive because at the end of the day, one
39:11of the root causes of crime is the social issues.
39:15And we are doing as best as we can to see if we can assist us at that level so
39:23that they can accuse a dictator on the crime.
39:25We are going to continue to work hard.
39:28Yes.
39:38Okay.
39:39Okay.
39:47Yes.
39:49Yes.
39:51Yes.
39:53That's right.
40:06Mr.
40:18A commissioner, another, Commissioner, of course, you saw the Transport Commissioner, the Mr. Clerk.
40:23And on the phone, that was the commissioner of the TTPS, Mr. Alistair Guevara, along with the inspector Callender, who
40:32was there, DCP.
40:33I tell you, I feel so proud. I feel so, so, so proud.
40:37Beautiful shot.
40:38I mean, it was just wonderful.
40:40This is exactly, I think, you know, what makes the job really meaningful.
40:44That even as we work with our other, you know, brothers in arms that, you know, and other stakeholders, you
40:52know, it's about seeing how we can make a difference in the world.
40:56And I want to just commend, you know, Commissioner Clark and his team.
41:00And also, again, I think it's Eastern Division and their team working together and really trying, you know, showing that
41:10difference.
41:10Because sometimes we don't recognize what family goes through.
41:14And just by helping with some books, some, you know, whatever little you give, it goes a long way in
41:19really building a greater relationship.
41:22And what I love about it is the fact that he's leading from the front.
41:25Yes.
41:26And he's also telling them, you know, things that they could do, even as children, to help make, you know,
41:32the place a safer place, even while you're driving.
41:34And hold the adults accountable as well.
41:37Awesome, awesome, awesome.
41:39So we need to take that break.
41:40When we come back, we will take your calls and more.

42:27Keeper none is at the goal.
42:52Keeper none is at the goal.
42:56But who is this?
48:41And it just shows you the heights, you know, of, the mindsets of, of, our young people.
48:48Yeah.
48:48We have to, we have to do what we have to do.
48:50And we are saying, in order to deal with this, though, we must deal with it lawfully,
48:55all right.
48:55And we cannot take the law into our own hand.
48:57We are saying that the way to deal with it is that we need to get the evidence so that
49:02we can put those persons behind us.
49:06And we are saying, it's not just about individuals.
49:08We recognize that some of these individuals are tied to gangs and so forth.
49:13But the only way that we are able to get that information and turn it into intelligence
49:19is by persons, again, being observant, especially victims,
49:22so that they can have, from their statement, enough evidence there to point us to exactly who are these individuals.
49:32All right, we have another call.
49:33Kola, good evening.
49:35Hi.
49:36Good evening.
49:37Hi.
49:38Hello, good evening.
49:39Yes, how are you?
49:41You're live.
49:42All right, I'm on.
49:43Good, good, good, good, good.
49:44My dog's a barking.
49:46Yes, I've got several dogs.
49:49Police.
49:50I don't know where to declare the word stupidity,
49:53but I've always said police wicked since they were into ourselves and short paths.
49:59And, Mr. Osborne, let me give you an idea of what I'm talking about.
50:03A balance came onto my property.
50:06He put his whole body onto my property and he began to dig.
50:10I love that piece of concrete behind him and he destroyed my louvers completely.
50:19He tried to come in, but my dogs were there waiting for him.
50:24Right?
50:24I called 999 and the station called me.
50:28I said, there's a bandit in my yard because I know he spent some time in Golden Grove already.
50:34They said, how do you know he's a bandit?
50:38What?
50:39That is the first inclination I heard of holy stupidity.
50:42Right?
50:43I didn't answer the policeman at the other end.
50:45They said, we'll send the patrol.
50:46They did.
50:47The patrolman asked me, do you have documents for the property?
50:53I mean, just say, do I need to have documents for the property to repel a stranger?
50:58Really?
50:59That's not how it works.
51:01The SRP at his side began to, he started murder, but he didn't finish.
51:06And he was sweating heavily like he was drunk.
51:10Honestly, I couldn't answer them because it's a state of emergency and they could have put
51:15me on the job, cut my skin, and still charge my position, arrest, obscene language, or whatever
51:21they do.
51:23Because they're very cruel.
51:25So what area is this?
51:27So what area is this?
51:29Hello?
51:30What area is this?
51:31I prefer not to see at the moment.
51:33Do you mind?
51:34Well, that's fine.
51:35If you could tell us off here, it would be great.
51:37Sure, no problem.
51:38Okay.
51:38The police, the SRP told the guy, bring the stone.
51:42The guy went to fix that stone from somewhere, he brought it.
51:46SRP then asking me, this is the stone?
51:49I just have to watch him.
51:51Because that was the stone in serious stupidity I heard.
51:55Right?
51:55I have to watch him.
51:56I said, I love that stone, I said.
51:57In any case, he said, he hit me.
52:02He said, where?
52:03On my arm.
52:05Right?
52:06He said, go and get a medical.
52:08I want you to get a medical.
52:09He told me, I will lock you up.
52:13All right.
52:13We will take that information.
52:15So we will.
52:17Yes.
52:17I mean, we are going based on what.
52:20Yeah.
52:20What is being said.
52:21And let me just say, based on what is being said.
52:24And I want to say, assuming that that is so, I want to start off by apologizing.
52:30Because that is not the standard of the Toronto League Police Service.
52:34That is the case.
52:35I'm saying, yeah.
52:35I'm saying that is the case.
52:37Yes.
52:37You understand?
52:37I'm saying that is not the standard.
52:39And therefore, I believe, and so many times, persons probably have been hurt by situations.
52:44And I am saying that is certainly not all standard.
52:47And therefore, I apologize if that has happened.
52:49Because that is not what we support at all within the police service.
52:53Nevertheless, we are saying, if something like that has happened, you need to make a report.
52:59And the police service, as I said before, we must respond to these things immediately with a level of professionalism.
53:07And I want to make it quite clear, with a level of victim-centered approach.
53:12Where we must seek to treat victims, you know, with that level of compassion.
53:19Understanding that they are going through a traumatic experience.
53:23Yes.
53:23And therefore, our attitude cannot be very dogmatic.
53:26Now, we have less than 20 seconds, DCP.
53:29And I know we'll be starting, Mark, school on Monday.
53:32I just want you to talk to the young ones quickly before we wrap things up.
53:36Well, first of all, to those of you going out in a new secondary school or a new school, all
53:42the best.
53:42Congratulations.
53:42We want you to make sure that you continue to, if you're leaving, going to school, coming from school,
53:49make sure you call, tell your parents so you know what car you're going in.
53:53And therefore, be safe outside there.
53:56Safety is your responsibility.
53:57And the police is here to help you if you're ever in trouble.
54:01Thank you so much, DCP, for being here with us.
54:03We get ready for news up next.
54:04TNT, have an enjoyable weekend.
54:05We'll be back on Monday.
54:07Same time, same place as we move forward.
54:09God bless.
54:10We're out.
54:12We're out.
54:13We're out.
54:15We're out.
54:16We're out.
54:18We're out.
54:19We're out.
54:23We're out.
54:24We're out.
54:25We're out.
