00:00Hello and welcome to your afternoon weather update from the Met Office. Well, many of
00:05us saw some rain this morning and this is all due to weather fronts sinking their way
00:09south eastwards across the UK. Low pressure continuing to dominate our weather picture
00:14throughout the next few days, but generally starting to sink south eastwards as we head
00:19towards the end of the week, such that by Friday, high pressure across the Atlantic will
00:24start to have a little bit more of an influence on our weather, helping to settle things down
00:28as we head into the weekend. But looking back at the detail for the rest of this afternoon,
00:34rain from this morning will have cleared the southeast, allowing for some brighter spells
00:38across southern Wales and the south coast of England. Still quite murky further north though,
00:43with some showers across Northern Ireland and northwest England, with the heaviest rain continuing
00:48across northern Scotland, particularly across Orkney, where we can see some quite heavy bursts at
00:53times. Feeling quite warm still across the south though, and particularly in any sunny spells,
00:59temperatures could reach 26 or 27 this afternoon. Cooler though further north, with highs still into
01:05the teens, maybe 19 across some parts of Northern England and Scotland. Through tonight though, we're
01:11going to see a band of rain making its way in from the Atlantic across Northern Ireland and into England
01:17and Wales as we head through Tuesday and into the early hours of Wednesday, such that most of England and
01:22Wales will have seen some rain. Nothing particularly heavy for many though, by the time we get to the start
01:28of Wednesday. Some heavier bursts, particularly across high ground across Northern England, where it
01:34will also be quite murky to start the day on Wednesday. Some clearer spells there across Wales and central parts
01:41of England into the early hours of Wednesday morning, but greater clear spells across Scotland, where it could
01:47feel quite cool in places, particularly rural areas, though that rain still just clinging on to the far
01:53north as heavier bursts will have eased by the time we get to Wednesday. Rain across the southeast though to
02:00start Wednesday morning, generally clearing away as we go into rush hour to allow for some brighter spells.
02:07Few showers though starting to develop across England and Wales, but the heaviest and most frequent showers on
02:12Wednesday will be across Scotland and Northern Ireland, where we could see some thunder, lightning and
02:18some hail, so we could see some localised impacts here. The best of the sunshine will be across England
02:25and Wales, particularly further east you are on Wednesday, but still a chance of some heavy showers.
02:32A cooler feel to the day though for the midweek, with highs of around 24 in any sunny spells across
02:39the south.
02:41Through Wednesday evening though, showers generally clearing away to the southeast and becoming
02:45more focused down Irish seacoasts, and these could merge into some longer spells of rain at times.
02:53And notice though, wind changing to a more northerly direction, so feeling quite
02:57fresh across the far north of Scotland to end the day on Wednesday. But as I say, a chance of
03:02some
03:02localised impacts in places on Wednesday with those heavy showers, so do keep up to date with our latest
03:08weather updates on YouTube, and I'll see you later. Bye for now.
