00:03Hello Northern Territory and Queensland. It is Sunday the 23rd of August and this is your
00:07weather forecast for the week ahead. There is a cutoff flow system that's really dominating
00:11a lot of the weather and bringing rainfall to the southern part of the Northern Territory at
00:16the start of the week and into Queensland in a few days time. Alright so let's discuss it. This
00:21is Sunday we're seeing 15 to 25 mils here down in the south and that continues and extends a
00:28little bit further east on Monday there as well. By Tuesday the cutoff flow is actually moved down
00:34here to the southeast but it extends and brings that rainfall with a trough associated with it
00:39up into southern Queensland bringing a possibility of 15 to 25 mils but more likely across the south
00:44anywhere between sort of 2 and 10 mils is more likely. On Wednesday here it's moved down into
00:50the Tasman and still bringing a little bit of rainfall into the sort of southern coastal regions
00:54of Queensland but only sort of 1 to possibly sort of 10 mils is likely there. By Thursday it clears
01:01out we have this high pressure system move in which is starting to bring some frosty and foggy conditions
01:06and that lasts through the rest of the week. We do have this little low pressure that could see a
01:12little bit of rainfall in this very very tip of Northern Territory but it's mainly concentrated in WA and
01:18South Australia so yeah not likely to see a lot of that in those states. Okay let's have a look
01:24here at
01:24the wind fields associated let's go to Tuesday when we have that cutoff low because in Queensland we do
01:30see in small pockets some very strong wind gusts associated and so now here we're having a look at
01:36Toowoomba just to show you those wind fields on Wednesday so we've got above 40 kilometre hour gusts
01:41on Wednesday but they do calm and settle after that as the high moves through. All right so Toowoomba
01:46we're talking um southeast Queensland we can see getting a little bit of rain anywhere between sort
01:51of 1 and 10 mils across Tuesday and Wednesday each day and then it settles as that high moves in
01:56um just showing here this is the Friday fog risk Saturday Sunday so there's definitely fog on the way
02:02as the week moves through and quickly here looking at Alice Springs to show you this Monday rainfall um
02:08anywhere between sort of 2 and 15 mils there uh this is the spread of the models just to show
02:15you I
02:16suppose that you know concentrated sort of this Sunday night Monday morning and then more scattered
02:20showers for the rest of the day there and then it clears and stabilizes across the rest of the week
02:26with some possible fog on the way as well. So that's it for Northern Territory and Queensland um
02:33this cutoff low bringing rain to these states and it's quite you know interesting to see this u-shape as
02:38the low moves across the southeast and then delivers a trough up into Queensland on the way. So yeah be
02:44careful with those systems they do have some strong wind gusts and thunderstorms associated with them
02:49but that should clear out by Thursday at the latest for a settled weekend ahead. Alright stay safe have
02:56a great week and we'll see you next time.
