00:03Hello, it is Sunday, the 4th of October, and this is your weather forecast for Victoria and New South Wales
00:07for the week ahead.
00:08Obviously, a lot of active weather in the region over the last few days.
00:11We'll still see some of this on Sunday, but by Monday, it should ease.
00:15We're seeing a lot of these totals from Saturday to Saturday here are driven by this Saturday and Sunday rainfall.
00:21So it's a little bit different as the week goes on.
00:23And there's also some frost and some severe wind on the way as well.
00:27So we're just going to look at this day by day instead of the whole overview.
00:30So starting here on Sunday, this is the leftovers of that low pressure system that was delivering a lot of
00:34this active weather.
00:35You can still see in Gippsland, 25 to 50 mils is possible here on the Sunday, but it's concentrated in
00:40that area.
00:41For Monday, it's mostly dry across the two states, a little bit of rain up in the north and New
00:45South Wales.
00:46And then in Tuesday, this system is still off in the Tasman because of the way that the wind is
00:50blowing that day.
00:51Northern New South Wales is going to get anywhere between sort of 2 and 10 mils there.
00:55All right. Wednesday, we're still seeing that onshore flow.
00:58So 5 to 10 mils up in the north there.
01:00And then Thursday, it's dry across both states.
01:02You can start to see this next system, this front moving through.
01:05It doesn't arrive for most of the states on Friday.
01:07It does if you are in Western Victoria.
01:10But it's really Saturday that we're seeing this system arrive across all parts of New South Wales and Victoria.
01:16You're going to see anywhere between 1 and 15 mils of rain.
01:19I bring this as though sort of a caveat is that this forecast is six to seven days out.
01:25It looks quite disorganized from this map view, which is telling me that maybe there's not very strong model confidence
01:32here.
01:33What I would say is that it definitely looks like there is rain on the way.
01:36As for how that system organizes itself, the speed that it moves at, I would really be hesitant to call
01:41anything just yet.
01:42But I'd keep my eye out on it because it's also delivering some strong winds.
01:46Sunday, it appears that that system does move over and establishes itself a little bit more in the Alpine regions.
01:51What I also want to draw your attention to is particularly Tuesday and Wednesday.
01:55While there might not be strong rain days across those two states, we're definitely seeing some severe temperature and wind
02:03conditions.
02:03So quick dive into that. We're looking here at Tuesday.
02:06And what I want to draw your attention to is that we have gusts between 63 and 90 kilometres an
02:10hour across this east coast.
02:13And then up into these states, we're still getting gusts at 30 to 40 kilometres an hour.
02:18And in the Alpine regions, 40 to 63.
02:20So there's strong wind gusts on Tuesday as a front moves through.
02:23This shows us, this sort of shows up on Wednesday.
02:26We've got this cold air that's being moved into the area.
02:29And then a high establishes itself is that there's quite cool conditions Wednesday morning.
02:34In Victoria, you can see there's very large patches of 0 to 5 degrees or negative 5 to 0 degrees,
02:39smaller areas.
02:40So I definitely could see some frost or fog being established there on Wednesday morning.
02:45All right.
02:45That is it this week for Victoria and New South Wales.
02:49What I would suggest is because there's such active weather, it's quite transient.
02:53In some areas, there might be thunder or lightning storms, and there are still going to be flood warnings issued
02:58across these states.
02:59I would be checking my local weather app, like Jane's Weather, just to see how these conditions really establish themselves
03:06as the week progresses.
03:07OK, do be safe.
03:09Have a great week and we'll see you next time.
03:10Bye.
03:11Bye.
