00:03Hello, it is Sunday the 18th of October and this is your weather forecast for WA for the week ahead.
00:07It's mostly dry in WA as ridging dominates the state. However, there is a possibility of rain
00:12towards the end of the week in the south, but there's a lot of uncertainty around that. Up in
00:17the north, I think the wet season has really started, so there's some showers throughout the
00:20week there. So let's get in the day-by-day breakdown. All right, starting here on Monday,
00:23this is that ridging across the south, which is keeping the southern part of the state nice and
00:27dry. Light showers in the north, 2 to 5 mils. Here on Tuesday, similarly dry in the south,
00:32but this 2 to 5 mils extends across other regions in the north. Wednesday, the south is starting to
00:38get the next front sort of moving through. Now, only 1 to 2 mils here. This is really about timing.
00:44I could see that arriving late Wednesday, early Thursday, so the day of Wednesday should be
00:48mostly dry there in the south. But up in the north, we have a trough system delivering anywhere between
00:545 and 25 mils in these central areas, as it extends out 2 to 5 mils there.
00:59Okay, Thursday, this is that front sort of moving through. Again, there's not much behind it,
01:042 to 5 mils is possible, but it doesn't extend deep within the state.
01:09Up in the north, we continue with this trough action, centred here around the top end.
01:14There's a possible localised 15 to 25 mils, but for the most part, 5 to 10.
01:19Moving ahead to Friday now, it's relatively similar patterns there. Now, Saturday, this is where the
01:24sort of uncertainty that I'm seeing in the models comes from. So particularly, I'll just show you that
01:29in this, this is our sort of AI composite model. So this is what Jane's Weather is producing as the
01:34most
01:34likely forecast, but it's a composite of different models. So when I look at the sort of breakdown
01:42here, if I move this over, we're looking here at Minganue, and we can see Minganue is showing like
01:48dry throughout the week until Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. But if we look at the ranges there,
01:54we've got 0 to 12 mils, 0 to 18, 0 to 42, 0 to 25, right? And if we look
01:59at our Jane's Weather Pro version,
02:00we can see that, for example, on Sunday, it's pretty much just the US model throwing this rain.
02:05Maybe the Canadian model is showing a little bit at the start. The Australian model has this sort
02:09of rain system arriving more on Monday. So there is possible rain there towards the end of the week,
02:16but the harvest, the harvest weather at the start of the week is actually pretty good. So just keep
02:21your eye out on how fast that forecast changes towards the end there. All right. Lovely. We'll just
02:27quickly look at Sunday just to show you that this is some possibilities, but again, not a lot of
02:30certainty there. As for temperature, it is quite warm this week as that ridge settles in. We'll have
02:37a look here. This is Monday, so this is tomorrow. We're looking here at 1 p.m. Australian Eastern
02:43Standard Time. Down in the south, 15 to 20 degrees, 20 to 25. Then this orange is 25 to 30
02:49degrees,
02:49and then we have a nice big band, 40 to 45 degrees there. So definitely warming up this week.
02:54Um, and that also means that when we're getting rain because of that warmth,
02:59that is the possibility that it develops into thunderstorms. So that's what I'd be
03:03checking out, especially in the top end, um, on some of those earlier days that had the stronger
03:07rainfall, that there's a chance that there could be, uh, severe winds, hail, rain, and, uh, lightning
03:14and thunder. So something to consider as well with your planning. All right. Finally, just looking at the
03:18winds currently. So, um, there was obviously a front that moved through sort of yesterday for
03:23you. Now that was associated with some strong winds down there on the southern coast, 40 to 63 kilometers
03:28an hour, and then also some strong winds here in the central coast. These largely drop off into Monday.
03:34Um, but there is some more wind on the way throughout the week, especially as that front arrives sort of
03:40Wednesday into Thursday. Here we go. So looking at Thursday here, you can see gusts 63 to 90 kilometers
03:46an hour. So yeah, there is some rain on the way. Beautiful. That is it for WA. Have a fantastic
03:54week.
03:54If you're, uh, doing some grain harvesting, good luck. Um, other than that, stay safe, have a good one, and
04:01we'll see
04:01you next time. Bye.
