00:03Hello, Queensland and New South Wales.
00:05This is your weather forecast for October the 18th.
00:07All right, there is, as you can see, a lot of rain on the way,
00:10if you'll get over there.
00:11A possible 100 to 150 mils could fall in localised area
00:16in central Queensland.
00:18That's a lot of rain.
00:19This is being delivered largely by,
00:21if we look onto our daily rainfall charts,
00:23we have a stationary high pressure system here sitting in the Tasman.
00:26Now, while that's delivering northerly flows,
00:28so adding or contributing to that warm weather,
00:30it's also bringing those onshore flows,
00:32which is why there's constant days of rain,
00:33because that is a very stationary system sitting there.
00:36So it's just not relenting.
00:37And we also have quite a lot of troughs moving through
00:40that are bringing that sort of pressure component
00:42that's conducive to that rainfall as well.
00:45All right, let's have a day-by-day breakdown.
00:46So we can see this sort of centralised blob.
00:49I'll pop up the legend so that we can follow that along each day.
00:52The light green is 5 to 10, the dark green is 10 to 15,
00:55and the yellow is 15 to 25.
00:56So that's concentrated in central southern Queensland
00:59and northern New South Wales coastal areas.
01:02And then we also have some onshore flow up the top end as well.
01:05All right, moving into Tuesday,
01:07it's very, very similar distributions there as well.
01:10And for Wednesday,
01:11it extends a little bit further into this central region.
01:14Okay, most areas 5 to 10 mils.
01:17Brisbane, 15 to 25 possible there as well,
01:20but relatively dry in the top end.
01:22And also southern New South Wales.
01:24Southern New South Wales actually this week stays fairly dry
01:26because of the direction of this flow,
01:28but it's going to be very hot.
01:30Okay, moving into Thursday.
01:32Again, similar patterns here,
01:33a stronger sort of centre of this 15, 25.
01:36There is, if you zoom in here,
01:37we can see a little possibility 25 to 50 mils.
01:40So just showing that there is that chance
01:41of quite severe rainfall in localised areas.
01:45Okay, moving ahead into Friday now,
01:47similar conditions here in Queensland,
01:49although that troffiness is really extended throughout the state.
01:52So there's a really widespread chance here of storms.
01:56Northern New South Wales still getting rainfall there as well.
01:59All right, Saturday, similar conditions,
02:01intensifying more areas of that 25 to 50 mils possible.
02:04And then Sunday, similar as well.
02:06So really, there's not a lot of detail in this forecast
02:10because it's just every day this week,
02:13these chances of some pretty moderate to heavy rainfall,
02:15if I'm honest.
02:16And because of the warmth that's also associated with this
02:19and the troughs moving through the country,
02:21there is a lot, a very, very high chance
02:23of storms associated with this.
02:25So very strong rain, possibly large hail, thunder, lightning,
02:30and possibly some strong gusty winds there as well.
02:32That's something to definitely be keeping your eye out,
02:35take into account with your safety measures
02:37for this week moving forward.
02:38Okay, please do be safe.
02:40Have a great week and I'll see you next time.
