00:03Hello, it is Sunday the 18th of October and this is your national weather forecast for the week
00:07ahead. We have a lot of heat building over the continent this week with some very warm
00:12temperatures that honestly is starting to look like the start of summer, not October. We also
00:16have a fair amount of rain on the way as the stationary high in the Tasman is delivering
00:21onshore flows into Queensland and New South Wales. We have some troughs moving through which are able
00:26to generate some of the conditions ready for moisture and those rain systems and the warmth
00:32together are likely to deliver storms. So there's definitely a possibility of strong rain, large
00:38hail, thunder, lightning and strong winds with those rain systems. We'll have a look at this day by day.
00:44All right, starting out on Monday, it's relatively a calm day compared to what we're going to see this
00:49week but you can see that onshore flow into Queensland and northern New South Wales and the
00:53trough system in South Australia there. For our cropping or grain regions in southern WA and
00:57Victoria in southeast, it's pretty dry. All right, similar for Tuesday although this little trough has
01:03moved across and we're starting to develop some rainfall across the top end of WA and NT. Similar
01:08set of circumstances for Wednesday but it's definitely intensifying with these two systems having the
01:13possibility to bring anywhere between 5 and 15 mils daily across both of these regions. So we have this
01:19onshore flow here around Brisbane in central Queensland and also in the central areas of WA.
01:26All right, moving through to Thursday, this rain or trough system extends throughout the top end
01:30seeing that there are going to be showers across most of these areas and then intense falls 15 to 25
01:35in Queensland. Definitely a chance of some severe thunderstorms with that one. We're drying out here on
01:41Thursday though in these southern areas with a possible little trough or a front moving through
01:45in southern WA. All right, Friday, WA is relatively dry although the east is pretty soaked there on
01:52Friday and the same for Saturday and for Sunday. I will say though looking at the confidence in these
01:59models that Friday, Saturday, Sunday system is showing me across most places anywhere between 0 and
02:05some places are showing 40 mils. Most places between sort of 0 and 12 or 0 to 20 mils. Now
02:10I'm not surprised,
02:11again this model is pretty far out but I think it's worth noting that especially if you're in those
02:17harvesting regions, harvest conditions do seem better for the most part at the start of the week
02:22with the exception for example for Victoria on Tuesday. Some areas there's a single day of
02:26exception but it does look like harvest conditions are looking slightly better at the start of the week
02:29rather than the end of the week. And we have those continuing moderate to heavy rainfalls across
02:35Queensland and northern New South Wales almost every day this week so that could contribute to some
02:39pretty high totals. All right, having a very brief look into the temperature as I said it's hot this
02:45week. It's because of this stationary system over here we've got a lot of northerly flow down into the
02:50south so Victoria seeing temperatures I've seen in the low 30s in some places that's pretty warm for
02:58October. In South Australia we've got some places getting up into the 40 degrees and then if we look at
03:03the very top of WA we've got 40 to 45 degrees there as well and even our friend Tassie down
03:09in the south
03:0925 to 30 degrees so it is a warm week so as much as the rain might not be consistent
03:15across the country
03:16the hot temperatures are they're pretty much staying for most of the week. You can see these
03:21cooler temperatures here in the east coast this is largely driven by that radiational cooling as we
03:26have that cloud from the convective systems there. Okay everyone that is it for this week
03:31do be safe if you are harvesting have a great harvest and other than that have a good week.
03:36All right we'll see you next time. Bye.
