00:02It is Sunday the 2nd of August and this is your weekly weather update Tasmania.
00:07So a front is arriving with some decent rainfall tonight, so Sunday night into Monday.
00:14It then is replaced by a high pressure system so we're going to get some cooler mornings but
00:18lovely calm days and then the next front arrives Saturday and Sunday and that has much stronger
00:26rainfall totals associated with it. So let's have a quick look day by day. This is Monday so
00:33the front has already passed which was if I scroll back here it is here. The front's passed on Sunday
00:40night but it's delivering most of its rainfall so 10 to 15 mils up here in the north a little
00:45less
00:45down in the south. Tuesday there are still some showers remaining from this but a high pressure
00:50system starts to come in place and then Wednesday that high is there with cool calm mornings up
00:58until this next system. You can see it developing over here and that starts to arrive on Saturday.
01:04So Saturday again up in the north 10 to 15 mils but Sunday it's delivering much higher totals 25 to
01:1050
01:11mils on Sunday there. Now there will be strong winds associated with this second front but they won't
01:17be very cold winds but because of that rain and because they're quite strong they'll feel cold
01:22but they shouldn't be that cold because the wind is coming from more of a northerly direction as you
01:28can see here on the Saturday. Okay there will also likely be more cold air behind that so I'm assuming
01:36that the start of next week will also be quite chilly as well. Let's have a quick look just at
01:41this is
01:42Tuesday mornings temperatures so you can see we've got this small pool in the centre negative 5 to 0
01:48degrees but for most of the state it's 0 to 5 degrees so there is likely a risk of frost
01:54and fog
01:54from Tuesday through to about Friday for Tassie. Okay let's have a quick look at our city in focus
02:00which is Devonport. So we can see Monday 10 mils top of 12 degrees so quite cool Monday and then
02:08the minimums get down to 2 to 3 degrees from Tuesday to Friday but nice sunny days with very
02:15little rain and then Saturday we get 13 mils high of 13 and Sunday 20 mils with a high of
02:2312 degrees
02:24celsius. You can see this is the fog risk for Tuesday but let's go down to Saturday or even Sunday
02:32yeah cool so Sunday this is when a lot of that stronger breeze arises. The temperatures are quite
02:41high though like they're 10 degrees in the morning but they don't get very high so kind of what if
02:46you
02:46start off with in the morning on Sunday is what you'll get for the rest of the day but that's
02:50a week
02:50ahead but there definitely is that front arriving. Okay so that's our summary for the week you can see
02:57that the northwest is going to get about 25 to 75 mils and then down in the southeast we're more
03:04getting scattered showers maybe five mils there. Okay so front arrives Monday then we get clear calm
03:12stable Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday before the next front arriving Saturday and Sunday which
03:17is the stronger of the two. Have a great week stay safe and we'll see you next time.
