00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday morning weather update from the Met Office. A breezy
00:06day but also a warm one, if not very warm, across more southern areas. The air is moving
00:11in from the near continent. We do have a weak weather front here bringing a little bit more
00:15cloud and also some sporadic bursts of rain. But towards the west, a deep area of low pressure
00:21which is slow moving will gradually edge in and that means the winds will strengthen even
00:26further. Even so, temperatures today will be well above average for this time of year,
00:31particularly for England and Wales. But a real squeeze on the ice of ours through this evening
00:35and overnight and this rain band here will turn heavy with the risks of some intense bursts
00:41as we head into Wednesday and then some showers following behind as well. For the time being,
00:47if you're stepping out, it's a chilly one across northern and eastern areas of Scotland,
00:52northeast England, even with some mist and fog across valleys or glens. But it will be clear
00:58across many eastern areas, the north of England, a bit more cloud perhaps further west but it's
01:04all drifting northwards so you should see some a brighter weather coming through. Some sunshine
01:09to start the day across Northern Ireland but windy here. Further south, you can see this weather
01:15front, that's the cloud and as I said, some patches of rain. Could even see the odd heavier
01:21one but there will be some drizzle in the breeze as well as the low cloud gradually pushes northwards.
01:26So lots of weather out there but the theme of today's conditions will be that breeze which
01:32will strengthen particularly across western and southwestern areas and also some warmth in the
01:38air which will mean temperatures will rise very quickly once this cloud and rain pushes northwards.
01:43So we will watch as this cloud rolls into Northern England, breaking up all the while. Some sunshine then
01:49emerges across Scotland and some sunshine further south through the afternoon. Bits and pieces of rain
01:56can't be ruled out. Some showery bursts though also developing across Northern Ireland ahead of this
02:02rain band which will eventually reach Cornwall through around four or five o'clock this afternoon
02:07and a strong wind is pushing up from a very mild direction. So temperatures through the afternoon are
02:14likely to rise quite quickly, helped with some sunshine later on in the day. So we're likely to see probably
02:2026 towards the southeast of England. Mid Wales seeing 22 to 24 Celsius. For Northern England probably 20 or 21.
02:29The high teens for Northern Ireland as well as the central belt of Scotland and you remain under brighter
02:34skies across the northeast of Scotland. Temperatures here probably around the mid-teens. But notice this wind
02:41which will continue to strengthen through this evening and overnight. So we watch as this rain moves in.
02:47Notice it's going to be heavy in places through the evening time across the west country then Wales,
02:53also Northern Ireland by late evening into the early hours of the morning. The rain then extends towards
02:59the Midlands, northwest England as it approaches western Scotland into the early hours of tomorrow morning.
03:05Those winds also will mean some high waves as we head into Wednesday into tomorrow and a lot of cloud
03:12to start the day.
03:13So it will be a mild one, if not warm across central and southern areas of England and Wales.
03:20But a wet and windy start anywhere from eastern and central parts of Northern Ireland, western parts of Scotland
03:25towards the Highlands, certainly the northwest of England, Wales, central southern England with some heavy downpours.
03:31But look at these temperatures. 18 or 19 across central and southern parts of England and Wales, East Anglia.
03:38So a warm night, a muggy night. 17 for Northern England, 14 or 15 for Northern Ireland, 16 for the
03:45central
03:45belt of Scotland and even up towards the northeast of Scotland we'll see probably 12 or 13 degrees Celsius.
03:51So let's pick up on that rain band as we head through tomorrow. It will eventually push its way eastwards
03:57quite quickly.
03:58Brighter skies to follow and also some blustery showers and then the winds tend to ease into Thursday.
04:06Some sunshine on the cards before we see the arrival of some showers through Friday.
04:11So here's your outlook on Wednesday. That band of rain eventually clearing all but the northeast of Scotland.
04:17And those heavy showers to follow but also some sunny spells. And in that sunshine temperatures yet again 22 to
04:2324 degrees Celsius across central
04:25southern areas of the country. Further north yes 18 to 20. Into Thursday a quieter day.
04:34Yes there will be a few showers around towards the west but also some sunny spells as temperatures again probably
04:40around the mid-teens towards the northwest.
04:42Probably 2021 towards the southeast. But the onset of those showers continues on Friday. So there will be some showery
04:50bursts around.
04:51We probably won't see any towards the southeast of England where temperatures will arrive at 21 Celsius.
04:56And still above average for the north and northwest with some sunshine coming through wherever you are.
