Transcript
00:00Hello and a very good morning to you on this Tuesday morning which is chilly and dry across the south,
00:07showery further north.
00:08In fact overnight this weather front moved in from the northwest of Scotland bringing more cloud outbreaks of rain.
00:13Through the day it will weaken as it extends towards more southern areas introducing more clouds for a time.
00:19And then low pressure slides down the country towards the North Sea.
00:22So yet again on Wednesday we'll see a showery rain regime.
00:25Some of these showers will be heavy with the risk of thunder and the air is coming from a cool
00:30direction with some strength to the wind particularly towards the north into Thursday.
00:35Let's pick up on some detail then.
00:37Well through the morning if you're stepping out first thing across England and Wales it's mostly dry.
00:42Certainly some sunshine across more southern areas.
00:44A little rain just nudging in across Cumbria as well as Northumberland down towards Pennines.
00:49Now for Northern Ireland you're seeing a lot of cloud and also a little rain first thing.
00:54Showers following and showers across much of Scotland as the rain clears eastern Scotland through the next few hours.
01:00This weather front here as I said will weaken even so.
01:04Introducing more cloud for a time across Northern England and North Wales by around mid-morning.
01:09Brighter skies further south there with some sunshine and the sun will come out further north as these showers become
01:15a little bit more scattered through the afternoon.
01:17Notice this weather front is mostly cloud with a little showery rain through the latter part of the day and
01:23the wind will be fairly strong across the western side of Scotland into Northern Ireland.
01:28As temperatures arrive around 13 in the north probably 16 in the south so a degree or so higher than
01:33yesterday.
01:35Through this evening and overnight that rain and cloud fades away but notice more showers gather towards the north.
01:42This is low pressure bringing some unstable air. Those showers will be heavy as we head into Wednesday morning.
01:48A dry morning across the far south but those showers gradually pushing in there merging to form longer spells of
01:54rain and in fact those showers could turn heavy with the risk of thunder through the day.
01:59Here are your temperatures overnight. Still chilly to start the day even with a touch of frost in one or
02:04two sheltered spots but showers never too far away.
02:07Through the morning then you can see some sunshine across southern counties but showers gradually sinking southwards.
02:13Through the morning then those showers becoming more scattered further north.
02:17This is an occlusion there allowing those showers to emerge to form a longer spell of rain from time to
02:22time.
02:22But they will be heavy in places through the afternoon once that sun really gets to work.
02:27So expect again the risk of thunder and also some hail with a brisk wind coming down that western side
02:33towards Irish Seacoast and the North Channel.
02:36Temperatures will be lower than today 11 to 14 degrees Celsius feeling chilly in that breeze.
02:42So that's the picture through Wednesday afternoon.
02:46The showers will continue through Wednesday evening and in fact as we head through Wednesday night you can see more
02:51streaming in from the north.
02:53Low pressure by this point is sitting towards the east there so those showers will be orientated north to south
03:00extending down the country into Thursday morning.
03:04Notice across Ireland more clouds and some outbreaks of rain which could push down towards the west country into Thursday
03:10morning.
03:11Thursday perhaps some drier weather to start the day showers never too far away and certainly through the afternoon most
03:18places seeing a scattering of showers with temperatures struggling yet again.
03:21Into the weekend with fewer showers on Friday and then on Saturday after a bit of a frosty start some
03:28rain will move in from the west.
03:30We'll hang on to some drier weather further east but certainly turning changeable as we head through the latter part
03:35of the weekend.
03:36All in all yes stay tuned to the forecast there'll be a lot of detail to just unravel as we
03:41head through the next few days and I'll see you again soon.
