00:00Hello there and a very good morning to you on this Wednesday morning, which yet again
00:05is a heat wave for many parts of the country. However, overnight we have seen clouds drift
00:11in from the North Sea. It will burn back to the coast. The other feature of the weather,
00:15we could see one or two isolated thunderstorms just moving in across the far south west into
00:21Thursday as well. But the heat remains on Thursday, peaking across many areas before
00:26things subtly change through Friday and into the weekend. Now this morning there is some
00:32cloud around the Midlands, East Wales, East Anglia and certainly along this eastern side
00:37of England as well as Scotland pushing in through the glens and valleys. However, it is burning
00:42back to the coast and we will find for most it's a fine morning with strong sunshine. And
00:48even along northeastern coastlines there will be some sunshine coming through. One or two
00:53spots though continue to be under that cloud, making it feel rather cool. And a bit of a
00:58fresh breeze coming in from the northeast across East Anglia as well as the southeast. But even
01:03so, we're likely to see some very high temperatures here. Through the afternoon, strong sunshine elsewhere
01:09as well. It's a fine day, but a very warm day if not hot one, particularly across central and
01:15southern parts of England and Wales. 30, 31 degrees Celsius and the high twenties across western
01:21Scotland, the mid-twenties for Northern Ireland. Now through this evening and overnight, notice these
01:27isolated thundery downpours just about clipping the far southwest. They will be hit and miss.
01:33At the same time through the evening, that cloud again rolls in from the North Sea. And so we will
01:38see a cloudier start to Thursday across some parts of the country as temperatures hold across England
01:45and Wales, particularly central southern areas, 17 to 19 Celsius, a warm night. For Northern Ireland
01:51inland, we'll see temperatures around 15 or 16, but a fresh one to come yet again across central and
01:57northern areas of Scotland. And certainly in the glens of Scotland, temperatures could actually dip
02:01to around the mid-single figures. So a chilly morning here. Through Thursday morning, yet again,
02:07we are chasing cloud first thing. And what that means, a cool start to the day where you do see
02:13that
02:13cloud, particularly with an onshore breeze. But like the last few days, with the strength of the sun,
02:18it will break up and burn away quite quickly inland and along the coast, hit and miss anywhere from
02:25the Thumberland towards Aberdeenshire. Now through the morning into the afternoon, notice for places
02:30such as Orkney, you could see that cloud break up, particularly across more western parts. And we could
02:35see one or two brighter skies coming through in shelter across Shetland. Through the day though, yes,
02:41most places seeing that sunshine through the afternoon. One or two isolated
02:47boundary downpours are possible towards the southwest. And here are your temperatures.
02:52So it is the peak of the heat. So we could see 27 across western Scotland, perhaps even higher than
02:58that, certainly the mid-20s for Northern Ireland. For the far northeast of Scotland, particularly along the
03:03coastline 17, but track inland, temperatures rising very quickly to places such as Braemar could see a 22, 23.
03:10And for the bulk of England and Wales, it's the high 20s or creeping into the 30s across central and
03:16southern areas. And even where you see a bit more cloud, high base cloud and the chance of a shower
03:22towards the southwest, still a very warm day here. So all in all, yes, the heat wave continues for many
03:28areas away from that eastern side. But the wind direction will slowly change through Thursday and into
03:35Friday. There'll be more cloud across the far northwest of Scotland. In shelter across the central
03:41belt, it will feel warmer on Friday and further south. Temperatures again, probably the high 20s,
03:47perhaps just about peaking across the far southeast at 30 degrees Celsius. But where you find the sunshine,
03:53it's going to be pleasantly warm along this eastern side. Stubborn cloud though for the far northeast of
03:58Scotland. So that's the picture on Friday. That high pressure is just sitting just behind me here.
04:04So the centre of the high has changed. And that means into the weekend, there'll be a little bit
04:09more cloud. Still a very warm day on Saturday with temperatures comfortably into the mid 20s,
04:15if not the high 20s towards the south. The central belt seeing 22, 23. For the far north of Northern
04:21Ireland, probably the high teens, a similar situation for western and northwestern areas of Scotland. But
04:25there will be holes in the clouds across the Northern Isles. But that breeze is coming in from
04:30more of a northerly direction, setting the scene for Sunday as well. So that's the information so far.
