00:00There's more thundery rain to come across some parts of Scotland through this afternoon.
00:05Meanwhile, in the south, where we're in desperate need for some significant rain, it's staying largely dry.
00:11The earlier satellite imagery, while it shows this wraparound of cloud, which is going around this area of low pressure,
00:17sitting over northern parts of the UK, bringing the more unsettled weather.
00:21Also notice the tightly packed isobars.
00:23They're indicating we have strong gusty winds, gusts of around 30 to 40 miles per hour across some parts of
00:29Northern Ireland,
00:30Northern England in particular, as we go into the afternoon.
00:33Western parts of Scotland, seeing that wraparound occlusion, bringing some persistent rain here,
00:38and outbreaks of rain feeding across parts of Northern Ireland, Southern Scotland into Northern England,
00:43perhaps even North Wales, seeing a bit of rain.
00:46But it's across the eastern parts of Scotland where we have those heavy thundery downpours.
00:51They're going to pep up through the afternoon and into the evening.
00:54There is a warning out because we could see rainfall totals, well, up to 40 millimetres, perhaps,
00:59and watch out for some large hail as well as frequent lightning.
01:03Further south, central southern parts staying dry.
01:05Lots of sunshine across areas towards the southeast.
01:08Worth noting, however, with slightly fresher air coming through, a change in our wind direction,
01:13we're seeing temperatures markedly lower than we had yesterday.
01:17Instead of the low 30s, we're looking at mid-20s, at highest towards the southeast and further northwest.
01:23Well, temperatures, if anything, could be a little bit below average for some.
01:26And when you factor in those gusty winds, well, it could even feel a bit fresh.
01:31Into the evening, and there's more hefty, thundery rain across eastern parts of Scotland for a little while yet.
01:37But overnight, the heaviest rain, the more persistent rain, that is going to break up and clear away towards the
01:43east.
01:43So, whilst it is going to stay quite cloudy across Scotland and northern parts of England,
01:48and, yes, some cloud at times across northern Ireland and western parts of England and Wales,
01:52and there will still be some rain, it isn't going to be as wet as it has been through the
01:57bulk of the day.
01:59Drier with clearer skies across central, east and south-eastern parts of England.
02:03But for all, it is actually going to be a bit fresher.
02:06We have that fresher air that I mentioned.
02:07And so, temperatures down several degrees through this coming night than they have been through recent nights.
02:13Not as warm, not as uncomfortable for sleeping.
02:15Some people may be grateful for that.
02:18Into tomorrow, and it is a drier day than we've had so far this week across northern parts.
02:23Yes, there will be some rain around, particularly during the morning,
02:25but a lot of that is going to break up and clear away.
02:28And then, apart from a few spots of rain here and there across northern Ireland,
02:31perhaps western parts of Scotland,
02:33and then the odd bit of rain here and there otherwise, it's looking largely dry.
02:37Lots of bright weather, some sunshine in the north, not a huge amount, more cloud here,
02:42but further south, lots of bright, sunny weather to be had.
02:46But even still, well, we have even fresher air across us,
02:49keeping with that change in our wind direction,
02:52temperatures peaking in the low 20s at highest towards the south-southeast.
02:56And further north, we're looking at mid to high teens Celsius.
03:00Lighter winds than we have today, so here it's probably going to feel a bit warmer,
03:04especially because it will be a lot drier, with a greater chance of seeing some brightness.
03:08Then, as we go through Friday and into the weekend,
03:11well, Friday's looking largely dry for many of us,
03:13but by the weekend there's going to be some wetter weather in the north.
03:17Good chance that we'll see the winds picking up as well.
03:19Meanwhile, in the south, while some of that rain in the north will feed further southwards,
03:23it is generally going to stay pretty dry here,
03:26and we need to watch out for the potential that we could tap into some hot air again across southern
03:31parts.
03:31So once more, we could see temperatures in the high 20s, if not low 30s, perhaps.
03:36For more information about what we can expect through this weekend and beyond,
03:40well, check out our 10-day trend, which Annie will be bringing to you later on.
03:43I'll see you again soon. Bye-bye.
