00:00There has been some heavy thundery rain across northern parts today and there is more of that
00:05to come tomorrow. What will be different between today and tomorrow is in the southeast where it's
00:10been hot and humid today when we see a change in our wind direction. So today coming from the south
00:16southwest through tomorrow we're going to see the winds changing to come more from the northwest
00:20while as a result we're going to see things turning a fair bit fresher, a bit cooler, perhaps
00:25more comfortable depending on how you feel about the heat. It is however going to state largely
00:29dry towards the south and southeast really as we go through this week with the majority of the rain
00:35staying across more northern parts. Back to this evening and there's still some hefty persistent
00:40rain across parts of northern Scotland through the next few hours. That becomes confined to the
00:45very far north of Scotland, Orkney and Shetland in particular overnight and then yes there are some
00:50outbreaks of rain. Some of them could be quite heavy particularly across some parts of northern
00:54England, southern Scotland, western areas as well. More likely to see a few outbreaks of rain compared
00:59to more eastern parts where it's going to be drier with clearer skies. It is still going to be a
01:04warm night, temperatures quite widely holding up in the mid to high teens Celsius, especially in the
01:10more built-up areas and later on in the night there's a bit more rain that's going to push into
01:15some western
01:16parts of Northern Ireland. Both this rain and also the rain across northern, northwestern parts of Scotland,
01:22all of that is going to feed a bit further south and eastwards through the day and into the afternoon.
01:28There's also potential for some hefty, showery downpours to develop. Across central eastern
01:33parts of Scotland we could see some heavier downpours than we've seen through today, potentially 30 to 50
01:39millimetres of rain building up in just three to six hours and that along with the thunder risk,
01:45the frequent lightning, hail, that could cause some problems. Also some showery rain then through the day
01:51across parts of Northern Ireland and further south across parts of Southern Scotland, parts of Northern
01:55England, Western England and some parts of Wales as well seeing some showery bursts of rain. It is
02:02going to be quite blustery, quite breezy for most of us. Northern parts of England, parts of Northern
02:08Ireland, Southern Scotland here the winds will be strongest, that's where it's going to be particularly
02:12windy. Actually across some central northern parts of Scotland the winds a little bit lighter here
02:16and and southern parts of the UK it's a bit breezy yes but not as windy as a bit further
02:22north. Here
02:23however we do have largely sunny skies particularly by the afternoon. That being said temperatures will
02:29be down a few degrees compared to today instead of the low 30s we're looking at the mid 20s really
02:35so as I mentioned before perhaps feeling a bit more comfortable further north mid to high teens
02:40perhaps low 20s so temperatures near normal for the time of year. Further bouts of rain to come
02:46through across particularly northern northeastern parts overnight into Thursday morning but a lot of it will
02:52clear away. We will see the winds dropping out as well and yes towards the south and again mainly the
02:58southeast it is going to be a dry night to come with some clear skies. Most other places could see
03:03a few
03:03spots of rain pushing through at times. Temperatures will be markedly lower through Wednesday night than this
03:10coming night with that change in our wind direction we have slightly fresher air across us so we're looking at
03:15low
03:15teens to mid teens depending on where you are north to south so temperatures down a fair few degrees
03:21perhaps that's welcome use depending on how you find sleeping when it is rather warm. Then Thursdays
03:27perhaps a drier day for northern parts compared to the rest of the week so far there will still be
03:33some
03:33rain around across northern Ireland few outbreaks of rain and feeding into parts of Scotland and perhaps
03:38some parts of northern western England and Wales and maybe down the the north sea coastal parts could see
03:44a bit of rain but it doesn't look as heavy as thundery as frequent as what we've seen through the
03:49last couple of
03:49days and what we'll see at times through Wednesday. Central parts again having a dry day lots of sunshine
03:55perhaps some high level cloud keeping the sunshine a bit hazy a bit milky but generally it is going to
04:01be a bright day
04:01and with our winds changing even more perhaps a slightly fresher day yet low possibly mid 20s I think low
04:0920s really at best
04:10towards the south and high teens towards the north. As we go later on in the week and head towards
04:17the weekend
04:18there is high pressure towards the south keeping things largely settled here all the time there's the potential for more
04:23outbreaks of rain to affect northern parts but really in the south where it has been so very dry through
04:29much of this summer
