00:00There are two zones of significant weather across the country at the moment.
00:05There's blustery, sherry weather in the north, and if we look at the earlier satellite imagery,
00:10we can see a swirl of cloud. That's the low pressure that's bringing that unsettled weather here.
00:15But further south, we have a swathe of cloud, and this is a frontal system that's brought some fairly persistent
00:21and at times heavy rain across many southern areas overnight and earlier on today as well.
00:27Now, it's fair to say the models underplayed this rain a little bit, both in intensity and also how widespread
00:34it was.
00:35But in reality, we've had a trophy feature digging into it, and that's pepped the rain up.
00:40We've had some further heavy bursts of rain across southern areas through the morning,
00:44and there's still likely to be a bit more across parts of the southeast early this afternoon,
00:49and actually it looks like it will take a little bit longer to clear away than some earlier model runs
00:53suggested.
00:53Nonetheless, it should clear by early evening away from the far east-southeast of England.
00:58There will then be some dry weather following around, so some sunshine as well across parts of England, perhaps Wales
01:04at times.
01:05But we do need to watch out for a fair few showers.
01:08For Northern Ireland, parts of northern western England and Wales, the showers will be quite scattered,
01:12but still the odd heavy one can't be ruled out.
01:15Across Scotland, however, here the showers are going to be pretty frequent.
01:19Some heavy, some thundery ones, risk of hail and lightning quite likely, and we need to watch out for the
01:24gusty winds.
01:25The winds will actually be easing, moderating a little bit through the day, but nonetheless,
01:30gales and exposed spots, gusts of 40, 50 miles per hour perhaps, pushing their way eastwards.
01:35And inland areas, a little bit less windy than this, but still gusts in excess of 30 to 40 miles
01:42per hour perhaps.
01:43Temperature-wise, around average for the time of year, especially towards the north, mid-teens, higher teens, low 20s towards
01:50the south.
01:50Once the rain clears away, lighter winds here in the sunshine, well, not feeling too bad for early autumn.
01:57That rain, as I mentioned, does eventually clear away from the southeast.
02:00And then overnight, with high pressure pushing its way in, we're going to see both the winds easing and also
02:07the showers dropping out as well.
02:08They won't drop out entirely. There'll be a few continuing around some eastern coastal parts, a few for northern Scotland,
02:14and a few dotted around towards the west as well, but much fewer showers than we've seen through the bulk
02:18of the day, and then clearer skies as well.
02:21Whilst the winds will be easing, there's still going to be a bit of a breeze around, so that will
02:26stop temperatures dropping especially low.
02:29That being said, some parts of Scotland, the Shelter Glens, for example, could get to low single figures.
02:34A touch of grass frost, not out of the question.
02:38Tomorrow, then, looks like a largely fine day for many.
02:41Yes, there will be a few showers towards the east and some showers piling into western areas as well,
02:45but these aren't going to be as frequent or as heavy as the ones that we've seen through today across
02:50many places.
02:51Lots of sunshine through the morning, perhaps a bit more cloud developing,
02:55especially for parts of Northern Ireland and England and Wales by the time that we get to mid to late
03:00afternoon.
03:00Meanwhile, Scotland actually having often sunny skies, and with lighter winds, more sunshine than today,
03:07it's going to feel markedly warmer, even if temperatures aren't that much higher.
03:12We're again looking at mid to possibly high teens in the north, high teens low 20s towards the south.
03:18Later on, on Wednesday, it's staying mostly fine.
03:21In fact, worth highlighting that through Wednesday night and into Thursday, it could turn a bit chilly,
03:26fresher than many nights recently, more widely seeing a touch of grass frost in prone rural spots.
03:32And then our attention turns to a weather system out in the west.
03:36That's going to push its way in at least across western, northwestern parts as we go into Thursday.
03:41So later this week, yes, there will be more rain to come, like I say, towards the north, northwest and
03:46towards the west on Thursday.
03:48Friday's looking drier before more rain towards the northwest over this weekend.
03:53Saturday looked quite, quite wet and windy towards the northwest of the UK in particular.
03:58And at the same time, we're going to see a gradual warming up, not a huge rise in temperatures.
04:03But yes, things will turn, particularly by night, less fresh than they're going to be through the next couple of
04:08nights.
04:09But we'll be keeping you up to date with all that over the next few days.
04:12So stick around on our YouTube channel.
04:14Bye bye.
