00:00The hot weather is going to continue through the rest of this week. In fact, many days will feel a
00:05bit like Groundhog Day with big similarities between each of them.
00:09It's because the high pressure which is sitting to the north of the UK, I mean, it's shifting a little
00:13bit in its position and that is important for both cloud amounts and also our temperatures.
00:19But it is sticking around until Thursday, Friday when it starts to ease before another area of high pressure towards
00:25the northwest develops instead.
00:27And that's still going to bring plenty of sunshine. More on that in a second.
00:31Back to this evening and like we've seen through recent nights, a lot of the low cloud, which has been
00:36nagging some north sea coastal areas through today, that will spread a bit further west and southwestward.
00:42So many central parts, even into parts of Wales, will turn a bit cloudy.
00:47There will be clearer skies, though, towards the far west and also towards the south.
00:51For all, it is going to be a pretty warm night, especially so towards the south, where temperatures will hold
00:57up in the mid to high teens further north.
00:59A bit fresher than this, a bit more comfortable, perhaps some places could even get into single digits.
01:04Now, through this evening overnight, there's always the chance of one or two showers, particularly towards parts of Cornwall.
01:10And you can't rule out a few showers through tomorrow as well here.
01:13But on the whole, it is going to be a dry day and turn increasingly sunny again, similar to today,
01:18really.
01:18We're going to see most of that low cloud becoming confined just to immediate coastal parts of northeast England, eastern
01:25Scotland and also affecting Orkney and Shetland as well.
01:28With all that sunshine, do watch out for some very high UV levels.
01:32And again, we're going to see temperatures rising low 30s or high 20s, low 30s in the south, mid 20s
01:40further north.
01:41But around those North Sea coastal parts where we have that nagging low cloud or temperatures here will be a
01:47bit lower, a little bit below average, in fact, for some places.
01:50There is going to be a bit of a breeze towards the south.
01:53That's not going to take too much off the temperatures.
01:55It's a little bit lighter than earlier on in the week.
01:58Through the evening and overnight, we stick with the largely dry things.
02:01Still just one or two showers can't be ruled out towards the southwest.
02:04But again, like we've seen through recent nights, some low cloud will be drifting in from the east.
02:09And so whilst west and southern parts have a greater chance of sticking with the clear skies, a fair few
02:14other places will see some cloud pushing in.
02:16Temperatures again not dropping a huge amount mid to high teens in the south, low teens further north.
02:21So a fairly warm night for most of us.
02:23Still fairly difficult for sleeping.
02:26Into Thursday and once more, we will see most of the low cloud retreating back to those northeastern coastal parts
02:32with lots of sunshine then through the bulk of the day for the majority of us.
02:36All the time, still the potential for a few showery bursts in the southwest.
02:40And if they do develop and if they do spread in, they could be thundery.
02:45So do watch out for those.
02:46But otherwise, yes, it's looking dry and still hot.
02:50Temperatures may be a degree or so down compared to some recent days.
02:54But I still think there's a reasonable chance we'll get into the low 30s for somewhere in the south.
02:58And then mid to 20s across many parts towards the north.
03:01Just still fresher towards those north sea coastal parts.
03:05Now, I mentioned that high pressure towards the northwest of us, and that's important as we go later in the
03:10week.
03:11That's because the position of it will help dictate where our air is coming from.
03:15At the moment, it's been coming a bit from the east, whereas because of that high pressure being dominant, we
03:19get more of a northerly flow.
03:21And what that means for our temperatures, well, it means they are going to drop a little bit.
03:25By Friday, the drop won't be particularly huge.
03:28It's still going to be pretty hot.
03:29But by the weekend, well, things could be a little bit more comfortable.
03:33Still very warm, and there will be plenty of sunshine around, but just not as hot as it has been
03:37recently.
