00:00The weather you're getting today really does depend on where you are in the UK.
00:04There's some hefty, thundery rain in the north.
00:07Meanwhile, towards the south-southeast, it's hot and it's humid still.
00:11But looking at the earlier satellite imagery, you can see the swirl of cloud.
00:15That's because there's an area of low pressure sitting currently just over the Republic of Ireland,
00:20but it's edging its way northeastwards.
00:22And there's a whole frontal structure in association with this.
00:25And it's this that's bringing some fairly persistent rain across northern parts of Scotland already
00:30and also some hefty downpours.
00:33Now, these downpours are likely to turn increasingly thundery as we go through the afternoon,
00:38particularly across parts of Northern Ireland, also central eastern parts of Scotland.
00:42We could see maybe 30, 40 millimetres of rain building up over just a few hours.
00:47Hail, gusty winds, those kind of things.
00:49They're what we need to be looking out for.
00:51All the while, there'll be some blustery winds, some persistent rain across northern parts of Scotland.
00:56England and Wales having a drier picture.
00:58Not totally dry.
00:59A few showers dotted around.
01:01But towards the southeast, actually here, it should stay dry.
01:05Decent amount of sunshine.
01:06Some cloud here and there.
01:08So maybe a bit bright rather than sunny at times.
01:10But a fair amount of sunshine.
01:12And as I mentioned at the start, it is still hot and humid.
01:16Temperatures for many places, especially in the west, will be dropping compared to yesterday.
01:20But in the east, southeast, we're still looking at highs around 32, possibly 33 Celsius.
01:26So yes, feeling hot and humid here still.
01:29Later on, the more persistent rain across parts of Scotland.
01:32That edge is a little bit further northwards, but it does continue for a fair one.
01:36Actually, it's not going to clear Orkney and Shetland any time soon.
01:39Elsewhere, there'll be a few outbreaks of showery rain here and there, mainly towards the west.
01:44Eastern parts have a greater chance of staying dry with some clear skies as well.
01:48It is going to be a warm night, especially in the southeast.
01:52Temperatures holding up in high teens Celsius.
01:55Elsewhere, mid-teens for most towns and cities.
01:57So yes, not fresh at all.
01:59Some more persistent rain will push into western parts of Northern Ireland as we go through the early hours of
02:05tomorrow morning.
02:06That will then become more widespread through Wednesday morning.
02:09And we're going to see some heavy bursts with this.
02:12But the heaviest, most thundery rain will be across, again, central eastern parts of Scotland.
02:16Here, potentially 50 millimetres building up in around five to six hours.
02:22So that could cause some problems, as well as the ongoing risk of hail and gusty winds and frequent lightning
02:27with the thunderstorms that will be developing.
02:30Again, England and Wales seeing a few showers, particularly towards the northwest.
02:35But central, southern, eastern parts of England actually having a fine dry day.
02:40Plenty of sunshine.
02:41But that slightly fresher air will be coming through.
02:43So whilst temperatures will still be getting to the mid, possibly high 20s in the southeast, it's not going to
02:48be as hot or as humid as it will have been today.
02:51Worth bearing in mind, it will be quite breezy for many places.
02:54Actually, breezy is underplaying it across some parts of northern England, perhaps southern Scotland, where it could be quite windy.
03:00Also across parts of Northern Ireland, some strong winds here.
03:03The lightest winds, though, will be across central and northern parts of Scotland, where they will have eased down a
03:08fair bit compared to today.
03:10Later on this weekend, we kind of stick with the north-south split of sort.
03:14There will be further rain or showers to come across northern parts.
03:18Meanwhile, in the south, well, it's staying largely dry.
03:21The theme of this summer really continues through much of this week.
03:25And it is going to be a bit cooler than of late.
03:27But worth bearing in mind, you know, it is August.
03:29So if you catch any sunshine, it is still going to feel pretty warm indeed.
03:33Just not as hot as it has been recently.
