00:00Whilst there will be some pretty wet weather across northern parts through today and into the weekend,
00:05further south it's staying dry. That's because we have high pressure here, keeping things largely settled.
00:12Further north there are fronts toppling over the top of this and that's why we're seeing more unsettled weather here.
00:18There's already been a fair amount of rain that's pushed in overnight and we have some showers across western parts
00:23of England and Wales this morning,
00:24but they will push a bit further eastwards before fizzling out as we head into the afternoon.
00:29So across much of England and Wales, even northern Ireland and southern parts of Scotland,
00:33it's looking dry through much of this afternoon with some bright sunny periods as well.
00:38Central parts of Scotland seeing some rain, but the heaviest rain likely to be towards the north and northwest as
00:44well.
00:44We could see some relatively high rainfall totals building up through today.
00:48If we add in the rain that we've already seen overnight and then taking the totals forecast for today into
00:53tomorrow,
00:54parts of the northern western Isles, the highlands, could be looking at 30 to 50 millimetres,
00:59perhaps somewhere like Skye could see 75 millimetres. That's enough to cause a little bit of disruption.
01:05Temperatures are going to be a little bit higher than yesterday in the south.
01:08Whilst it was low 20s really, at highest yesterday, we're looking at mid 20s, 25, 26 Celsius.
01:14It seems quite likely today, especially as we see more sunshine developing through the afternoon.
01:18A fresher feel to things for sure towards the northwest, especially because of the winds and the cloud and the
01:23rain here as well.
01:25That wet weather then continues across parts of the northwest through the night,
01:29and there could be some further pulses of heavier rain at times coming through.
01:33Potential for a bit more cloud and a bit of rain to feed into parts of Northern Ireland as we
01:37head into dawn as well.
01:39But elsewhere, for the bulk of England and Wales and also southern, perhaps even some eastern parts of Scotland,
01:44a dry night, clear skies, and as a result, again, it could be a bit of a fresh night.
01:49Temperatures widely in the towns and cities just about holding up in double digits,
01:53but across some parts of England and Wales, rural locations, more prone spots to being a bit chillier.
01:59Well, we could get to mid single figures, four or five Celsius perhaps in a few spots.
02:04So a bit of a fresh start, yes, for many on Saturday, but for most it is going to be
02:09another dry, often sunny day.
02:12Still wetter weather towards the northwest, a bit more rain around perhaps compared to today.
02:16So Northern Ireland seeing some rain pushing through, and there's more wet weather then building up across northern and western
02:22parts of Scotland,
02:23which is why we will see those higher rainfall totals here.
02:27Eastern areas of Scotland may avoid the heaviest, more persistent rain, but a few outbreaks of rain will push through.
02:33Temperatures are going to rise even further.
02:35So whilst it's still feeling relatively fresh in the northwest with the cloud and the rain,
02:39and temperatures peaking in the mid to high teens Celsius further south and east,
02:43well, it looks like we're going to get back into the high 20s.
02:46We've had a few fresher days, but the heat is returning as we drag in some hot air from the
02:51south.
02:52A quick look towards Sunday then, and that wet weather across northwestern parts will have edged a little bit further
02:58southwards.
02:59There is a bit of uncertainty as to exactly what this frontal system is going to do,
03:03but at the moment it does look like it will push across more widely parts of Northern Ireland, Southern Scotland,
03:09and also into parts of Northern England.
03:10So looking quite wet here, perhaps a bit drier across Northern Scotland compared to what we're seeing through today and
03:16tomorrow.
03:16All the time, however, the bulk of England and Wales are staying dry, lots of sunshine and even hotter air
03:22coming in.
03:23There's the potential that we're going to get back into the low 30s across parts of the southeast.
03:27We just do need to watch out for the potential, it's not particularly likely,
03:31but there is the potential for a few showers to develop in some parts of the immediate southeast.
03:36Kent, perhaps the London area Essex could see a couple of showers.
03:40What happens as we go into next week?
03:43Well, there are signs that we could see the heat building even further again across parts of the south.
