00:00It's been a bit blustery today and there have been a fair few showers around and for some
00:04they're going to continue through the evening and overnight but not everywhere. Towards
00:08the south and east actually it's going to stay largely dry. It's all because of this
00:12area of low pressure which is now clearing away through towards the North Sea and actually
00:18behind it we do have a ridge of high pressure that's building in so the showers should gradually
00:23ease somewhat through Wednesday but notice the high pressure well it's actually relaxing
00:28it's flattening and so that's then going to allow for another frontal system to come in
00:32particularly towards north-northwestern parts later on Wednesday. More on that in a second.
00:37Back to this Tuesday evening and yes a fair few showers around. You can see the swirl of rain
00:43because that low pressure system clearing away and as a result the showers are going to be easing but
00:48still through much of the night some places likely to see quite a few of them parts of eastern north
00:53eastern Scotland seeing showers continuing and also across northern Ireland some showers feeding in
00:59through the Irish Sea across parts of western England and much of Wales. Elsewhere a lot of
01:03drier weather some clearer skies and worth highlighting you've probably noticed it's not quite as humid now
01:09as it was to start the week. As a result things are going to be a little bit fresher overnight.
01:16That being said it's still going to be pretty mild for the time of year but temperatures well
01:20towns and cities holding up in double digits but in parts of Scotland could get to low single figures
01:25and in the south we're talking mid to high single figures in some rural areas. Then let's look at
01:31this next weather system that's arriving through Wednesday. There's an area of low pressure it's
01:35actually quite far away to the north of us but you can see the isobars getting closer together
01:39as they head towards the UK so it is going to be again quite blustery and there's some rain to
01:44come
01:44but before that on Wednesday well a few showers continuing in those similar areas so feeding in
01:49through the Cheshire Gap and some of them could be a bit on the heavy side five to ten millimetres
01:54in an hour or so in a few places and maybe 20 millimetres building up in a couple of spots
01:59where
01:59we see a few of those showers continuing. Most areas though having a good deal of dry weather even
02:04if you catch some showers they should move through fairly quickly. Eastern parts of Scotland once the
02:10morning showers clear away and towards the southwest also some drier weather by the afternoon albeit not
02:15especially sunny. Worth highlighting that temperatures are down a few degrees compared to
02:20how we started the week you know we had high 20s on Monday and mid 20s on Tuesday so mid
02:26to high teens
02:27or just about scraping into the low 20s for Wednesday yes that's a bit of a drop. Most notable of
02:33a drop
02:33across the central southern parts where temperatures will be around six seven degrees lower on Wednesday
02:41than they were on Tuesday some parts towards north are going to be similar in fact the far north of
02:46Scotland
02:46actually temperatures up a couple of degrees. Later on Wednesday that next weather system I highlighted
02:51that pushes its way in across parts of Northern Ireland and much of Scotland so the wind strengthening
02:56heavy persistent rain actually the rain doesn't look especially heavy but persistent rain arriving
03:00and that whole system makes its way southeastward so across England and Wales through the early hours
03:05of Thursday morning it's turning cloudier blustery and it will be wet at times as well. Something a bit
03:11drier clearer following in behind for a time but also then plenty of showers piling into particularly
03:16northwestern parts of Scotland. Under the cloud and rain temperatures won't drop a huge amount through
03:22the early hours of Thursday morning for much of England and Wales but a little bit fresher towards the
03:27northwest where we have some clearer drier weather albeit the strengthening winds will stop temperatures from
03:33dropping especially low. Then Thursday itself a cloudy damp start for much of England and Wales but the rain
03:40clears away towards the southeast may take a wee while to clear away from the far southeast but should do
03:45by early afternoon and then something a bit brighter following in here although there will be more showers
03:51coming in across many parts of Scotland especially towards the west and a few showers for some parts of
03:55northern western England and Wales as well. Some sunshine in between the showers but temperatures well they look
04:01fairly similar to Wednesday really so mid to high teens in the north high teens or just about low 20s
04:07towards
04:08the south. Yes some sunshine but also those blustery winds some fairly brisk winds gusts of maybe 40 possibly
04:1550 miles per hour towards some exposed spots towards the northwest. We have then more showery rain to come
04:22through the end of the day on Thursday but that will gradually ease with a slight ridge of high pressure
04:28calming things down first thing on Friday morning not totally dry and then another system arrives from
04:34the west. It's sort of rinse and repeat in as much as yes there is some drier weather at times
04:39this week
04:40but there will always be another spell of rain waiting to make its way in from the Atlantic. Fairly standard
