00:00You've been asking for it, and yes, there will be some rain around this weekend, but particularly towards the south,
00:06not a huge amount.
00:08And there's also a change to something a bit fresher.
00:10That's because we have a frontal system that's going to be making its way southwards as we go through the
00:15weekend.
00:15And yes, that's bringing a bit of rain, albeit less and less rain as it makes its way southwards.
00:20And then we have that fresher air coming in behind it, so a slight drop in our temperatures too.
00:24Another weather system that arrives overnight Saturday into Sunday, that's perhaps going to bring a bit more rain, but even
00:30still, those rainfall totals aren't building up especially high.
00:34Back to the here and now, and it's a cloudy, wet end of the day across parts of Scotland and
00:38Northern Ireland, with that rain edging its way further southwards into parts of Northern England, perhaps North Wales.
00:43But it's really breaking up as it goes, so not bringing a huge amount of rain to many places.
00:48Watch out for a few thundery showers across the Western Isles in particular through the evening, and then a swathe
00:53of heavier, more persistent rain pushes into northwestern parts of Scotland.
00:57And with that, well, there's a relatively deep area of low pressure for the time of year sitting just to
01:02the north of the UK, so there will be some strong gusty winds, coastal gales in some parts of Northern
01:08Scotland, perhaps.
01:09Further south, it's a much drier, calmer picture.
01:11Quite a warm night to come, despite the clear skies, temperatures for many holding up in the mid to high
01:17teens Celsius, the odd pocket of mist and fog, perhaps, over past Wales, southwest England.
01:21But this should all burn back quite quickly, first thing on Saturday morning.
01:25So, southern areas, they wake up to a fine sunny start on Saturday.
01:29It's a wetter story further north, outbreaks of rain feeding further southwards.
01:34By the time that we get to, well, middle of the afternoon, we sort of end up with four zones
01:39of weather, if you will.
01:40A lot of fine sunny weather towards the south of the UK, central parts of England and Wales under this
01:45front, where there will be some rain.
01:47The odd heavier burst, perhaps, but, as I mentioned, that front breaking up as it pushes southwards.
01:52And then there will be some drier weather developing across much of Scotland and Northern Ireland, even the far north
01:58of England, with most of that rain clearing away towards the south.
02:01So, yes, drier, perhaps even brighter, sunnier than earlier on in the day.
02:05And then the fourth zone, we have some showers continuing for the far northeast of Scotland, Orkney and Shetland.
02:10And here, it is still going to be quite windy, some strong gusty winds to watch out for.
02:14Now, with the front that's pushing through, yes, it's bringing some rain, but, as I alluded to earlier, it's bringing
02:20slightly fresher air.
02:21So, whilst southeastern parts of the UK will still be pretty hot with the sunshine, temperatures in the high 20s,
02:27low 30s, perhaps elsewhere, a bit of a drop in temperatures compared to recent days.
02:33If we compare Saturday's highs to Friday, so today's highs, you can see the blues indicating most places will be
02:39a few degrees lower than they have been recently.
02:42Perhaps most notable around some central parts of England where we have those bursts of rain possible, so temperatures suppressed
02:48as a result.
02:49But also worth highlighting, some areas in the southeast, coastal parts of Norfolk, Sussex, maybe Essex and Kent, are seeing
02:56temperatures a fair few degrees higher than on Friday.
02:58So, feeling a bit hotter here with some decent sunshine as well.
03:02That front continues its progress east-southeastwards through Saturday evening and overnight, a few spots of rain here and there.
03:09But then that next zone that I mentioned earlier, that comes in and that's going to bring some more widespread
03:15rain for many places through Saturday night into Sunday.
03:18Especially towards the northwest, it could be a bit heavy, a bit persistent, and down the western side, some heavier
03:24bursts of rain.
03:24Some parts of Wales, southwest England are likely to see more rain through Saturday night into Sunday than they have
03:30done so far this month.
03:32Another warm night to come. Temperatures, if anything, a little bit higher than this coming night.
03:37High teens widely in the south, low to mid-teens across northern parts.
03:41It's unsurprising that it's not going to turn particularly cool with all the cloud and the rain around.
03:46So, a bit of a changeable, relatively unsettled start to the day.
03:50On Sunday, there will be outbreaks of showery rain for many places.
03:53A lot of the rain, though, will clear away towards the east.
03:57It's going to break up.
03:58Not totally clearing, not at all.
04:00There will still be a fair scattering of showers, especially across Scotland, Northern Ireland, and northern parts of England and
04:06Wales.
04:06But just a bit less rain than earlier on in the day, and there should be some sunshine breaking out
04:11between the showers.
04:12More sunshine, though, across southern parts, looking largely fine by the time that we get to the afternoon here.
04:17But with that fresher air that's coming in behind the frontal system, well, temperatures are going to be down a
04:22few degrees compared to what we've seen of late.
04:24If we, again, compare Sunday's highs to this coming Saturday's, and you can see most places will be a couple
04:31of degrees lower than on Saturday.
04:34So, a bit of a fresher feel.
04:35Some of you may be a bit grateful for that, for us to see temperatures just peaking in the mid
04:40-20s rather than high-20s or low-30s.
04:43However, there are signs that we're going to see high pressure building from the south.
04:47So, some rain in the north, yes, but high pressure in the south, meaning more dry weather next week, and
04:51we could see the return of the heat.
