00:04This first video is about creating the tabletop with threaded holes.
00:08In the next videos you will learn how to create a leg and assemble it to the tabletop.
00:18Let's start in the part design workbench and create a new sketch.
00:27Select the XY plane to start sketching.
00:33Click on the small arrow and select the Centered Rectangle tool.
00:38Start at the origin and make both sides 350mm long.
00:54Click on Close to exit this sketch.
01:00Now select Pad to extrude the rectangle.
01:05Select Symmetric to extrude it to both sides.
01:10Enter a length of 30mm.
01:14Click on OK to apply the pad.
01:18Select these four edges at the corners while holding the CTRL key.
01:26Click on the Fillet tool and enter a radius of 50mm.
01:32Click on OK to apply the fillets.
01:36Now select the top and bottom faces while holding the CTRL key.
01:43Select the Chamfer tool.
01:46Enter a size of 5mm and click on OK to apply.
01:51Now that the base shape has been finished, it's time to create a new plane to sketch on.
01:57First click the eye icon next to the origin planes.
02:01And select the XZ plane.
02:05Select Datum plane to create a new plane.
02:11Enter 45 degrees for the rotation around the Y axis.
02:17Click on OK to create the new plane.
02:21Now select the new plane and create a new sketch.
02:28To hide all planes, click on the eye icons next to the datum plane and the origin planes.
02:35Select the Polyline tool.
02:40And draw this rectangular shape.
02:50Select two lines and add a perpendicular constraint.
02:58Repeat this for these other lines.
03:03Drag a vertex to see what is still loose.
03:08Another perpendicular constraint has to be added.
03:14Now the shape is completely perpendicular.
03:19Select the Dimension tool.
03:21And add the following dimensions to define the shape.
03:36When the sketch is fully constrained, click on Close to exit the sketch.
03:44Here you see where the sketch is located.
03:48Click on the Revolve tool.
03:51And choose Select Reference for the axis.
03:55Click on this sketch line and you see the preview changes.
04:00Click on OK to apply.
04:03Now it's time to create a threaded hole.
04:05Click on this face and create a new sketch.
04:12Then go to the External Projection tool.
04:15Select this circle to project it inside this sketch.
04:19Go to the Circle from Center tool.
04:22Click on the center point and create a circle with a diameter of 36 millimeters.
04:28Click on Close to exit the sketch.
04:31Select the Hole tool.
04:36Leave the first setting as it is and select Isometric Regular for the standard.
04:44Select M36 for the size.
04:49Leave the depth at 25 millimeters.
04:52And for the hole type, select Modeled thread.
04:57Finally, check this box to add a clearance.
05:01Enter a clearance of 0.4 millimeters.
05:04This is ideal for 3D printed threads that need to fit together.
05:10Click on OK to apply.
05:14Here you see the modeled thread.
05:19To make the part stronger, a chamfer is needed.
05:23Select this edge and go to the Chamfer tool.
05:27Enter a size of 5 millimeters and click on OK to apply.
05:31The next step is creating a polar pattern.
05:34Make sure to select all these 3 items in the design tree.
05:37Hold the Control key for this.
05:39Go to the Polar Pattern tool.
05:44Enter 4 occurrences.
05:47And choose the base Z axis as the rotation axis.
05:52The Z axis is blue here.
05:55Click on OK to apply the pattern.
05:59The tabletop has been finished.
