00:00In this FreeCAD tutorial, you'll create a stylish honeycomb pattern using the multi-transform tool in FreeCAD 1.
00:09First, start a new sketch in the part design workbench on the bottom XY plane.
00:17Select the centered rectangle tool.
00:21And draw a rectangle of 97 by 56 millimeter at the origin.
00:30Click close to exit the sketch. Now select the pad feature.
00:36Enter a length of 5 millimeters and check the reversed box. Click on OK to apply the extrusion.
00:42Select the top face and go to the shape binder tool.
00:51Hide the extrusion by clicking the eye icon. Now you can use the geometry of the extrusion in another sketch.
00:57Let's create that sketch.
01:00And hide the extrusion again.
01:04The shape binder face always equals the dimensions of the extruded rectangle.
01:08Select the Create External Geometry tool.
01:11And select the lower edge of the shape binder.
01:16Then select the hexagon tool.
01:24Click somewhere and drag the mouse.
01:26Click again to create an undefined hexagon.
01:32Draw another one below the first hexagon.
01:36The third one can be placed on the projected edge.
01:39Now select all circles and make them equal.
01:51Select two circles and add a tangent constraint.
01:58Do the same for these two hexagons.
02:00Select the dimension tool and click on a circle.
02:10Enter a diameter of 8 millimeters.
02:12Right-click to exit the dimension tool.
02:19These two circles must also have a tangent constraint.
02:22Then all circles are connected to each other.
02:27Select these two center points and add a vertical constraint.
02:31Select the projected vertex and this center point.
02:42And add another vertical constraint.
02:48Select this edge and add a horizontal constraint.
02:51Do the same for the other two hexagons.
03:05Click on Close to exit the sketch.
03:08Hide the shape binder face and make the extrusion visible.
03:11Select the sketch and go to the pocket tool to create a cut.
03:23Choose through all and click on OK.

03:30Thanks.
03:32Now select the pocket and go to the multi-transform tool.
03:36Right-click here and add a linear pattern.
03:45Select Offset for the mode.
03:51Enter 6.9282 millimeter for the offset.
03:56This will be explained later.
04:02Then enter 8 occurrences.
04:06When you double-click on a pattern, you can edit it if you want.
04:36Click on OK to apply both patterns.
04:44Expand the pocket and edit the sketch.
04:49Select the dimension tool.
04:52Click on these two vertices and drag the mouse to the downside.
04:57Click to apply and check the reference box.
04:59When you uncheck it, the sketch will become redundant.
05:08Check it again and it will be fully constrained.
05:11Click on OK to apply.
05:13You see, this dimension was entered as the linear pattern offset.
05:17Click on Close to exit the sketch.
05:19You just created an endless honeycomb pattern in FreeCAD.

05:30Click on the map to typeοΏ½οΏ½.
05:30And wait.
05:32That seems nice to me.
