00:00Here is how you can use one sketch and only extrude a selected shape.
00:09Let's create the master sketch first.
00:11Select the part design workbench and create a new sketch.
00:16Click on a plane to sketch on.
00:23And select the Circle to Center tool.
00:30Click on the horizontal axis and draw the circle.
00:33Enter a diameter of 20 mm, for example, and press Enter.
00:39Also draw a centered rectangle on the horizontal axis.
00:50To add the dimensions, enter a number.
00:54Press Tab, enter the other number, and press Enter to apply.
01:00Click on Close to exit the sketch.
01:05When you select the Pad feature to extrude both shapes,
01:10it can result in this error.
01:15Click on OK and on Cancel to exit the menu.
01:24What will work is selecting one shape and extruding it.
01:28The error appears because of extruding multiple shapes at once.
01:33Now expand the Pad feature and make the sketch visible by clicking the eye icon next to it.
01:38Select the rectangular shape while holding the Control key.
01:43Go to the Pad tool, leave all settings, and click on OK.
01:47The same error appears.
01:48Click on OK and on Cancel to exit the menu.
01:53Consider subscribing if you like my content. Thanks!
01:56To solve the error, select the body.
02:01Or, right-click it and go to Properties.
02:07In this example, the Property menu is always visible after selecting.
02:14To solve the error, make sure the Allow Compound box is checked.
02:24Select the rectangular shape again while holding the Control key.
02:29Go to the Pad tool, enter a different length and click on OK.
02:35OK.
02:36And now it works.
02:38A second Pad has been created.
02:41Edit the Master Sketch and draw a new circle at the origin.
02:47Enter a diameter of 20mm, for example, and press Enter.
02:51Click on Close to exit the sketch.
02:54Now make the Master Sketch visible again and select this circle.
03:00Select the Pad tool.
03:03Enter a different length and click on OK.
03:07And a third Pad has been created from one Master Sketch.
03:11So the Allow Compound feature is something you may always want to turn on.
03:14You can do this in the model settings of the Part, Part Design tab in the Preferences menu.
