Transcript
00:00In this FreeCAD video, you learn how to create multiple solids from one sketch in the part
00:05design workbench.
00:07And yes, you will learn to solve this error.
00:10Together with this, some sketch tips will be shown.
00:22First create a new sketch in the part design workbench.
00:28And select the XY plane to sketch on.
00:33Select the rectangle tool.
00:42Create a rectangle of 20 by 20 millimeters.
00:49Also draw another rectangle without dimensions.
00:54Click the right mouse button to exit the rectangle tool.
00:58Select those three lines by just clicking on the lines.
01:00Add an equal constraint to add the same length to the selected lines.
01:06Click these two vertices and then the vertical axis.
01:09Then you can add a symmetrical constraint.
01:14Do the same with the horizontal axis.
01:22Somehow, there's a redundant constraint.
01:25To select the redundant constraint, click on the number here and press delete to remove the constraint.
01:32One horizontal dimension is needed to fully constrain this sketch.
01:35Select the dimension tool.
01:38Click on these two vertices and add a dimension of 40 millimeters.
01:44Click on close to exit the sketch.
01:48Consider subscribing if you like my content.
01:50Thanks.
01:51Now select the pad feature to extrude the rectangles.
01:55Leave all settings and click on OK to apply.
01:59At the moment, multiple solids are not allowed to extrude.
02:03Click on OK and then on cancel.
02:07Now click on the body.
02:10In the data tab of the property view, you can see the option allow compound.
02:16Click on the box to enable this.
02:20Now select the sketch and go to the pad tool again.
02:26Click on OK to apply the extrusion.
02:28And you see the two rectangles are extruded with one pad feature.
02:36Let's show the sketch with the two rectangles to highlight this.
02:44Double click on the sketch to edit it.
02:47And add a circle at the center.
02:54Click on close to exit the sketch.
02:58And you see the circle was also extruded.
