00:00We're the Golden Kobe family and in this series we're going to attempt to rescue

00:0430 dogs in 30 days with your help and this is how our morning went so far.

00:09Dog poo. We're picking up dog poo. This is gonna have to be a routine that we do every single

00:15morning for obvious reasons. There's so many dogs here but whilst we're picking up the dog poo,

00:21let's go over everything that happened with the dogs last night. So last night we put the dogs

00:26in their crates for the first time. They did cry at first but they did eventually settle

00:31and before we put them to bed we actually let them all out to go to the toilet and they

00:36pretty

00:36much all did. Like every single dog went to the toilet which was perfect. It literally looks like

00:41we've got a zoo here at the moment. There's just so many dogs. We are going to be putting Kobe

00:46and Moki

00:46upstairs to sleep every night. Basically it's important to remember that this is also their

00:51home and they're going to want time away from the dogs so this way they get their own space at

00:55night

00:55and we can also put them in that room during the day if they want some space away from the

00:59dogs to

01:00make sure they have a good rest. Kobe looks absolutely exhausted, pleasant. So we went to

01:05put the dogs to bed but they looked like they wanted one last play and Jockey looks like she's really

01:11starting to come out her shell already. She must have been really badly abused at the shelter before

01:15she came to Happy Shelter because she looks like the cheekiest girl. We can't wait to see what she's

01:20like at the end of this 30-day series. Becca then stole a shoe. So yes, we have a shoe

01:25thief.

01:26What have you got? Hmm? And when we told her off for it, her reaction was the cutest thing ever.

01:34What have you got?

01:37Becca, what's this? Becca, shoe thief. Becca, what's this?

01:42She's ignoring it.

01:42We put all the dogs in the crates and then we gave them some pets for some positive

01:46association. They were a bit unsure at first, you know, moving around, not too much crying,

01:51but they did eventually settle for the night. By the way, this is a video and they are literally

01:57out, like every single one of them, which is perfect. We have only got blankets in the crates

02:02at the moment because we know what it's like with rescues. They may destroy beds and stuff.

02:07So until they can prove that they don't destroy beds. And so that brings us to this morning

02:11and this is what they were like when we came downstairs.

02:25Come on, Jocky. Hello, Jocky.

02:28Good girl. Oh, my God.

02:35Stop these. Come on, dogs, out. Come on. Come on, dogs, let's go out. Come on.

02:38Come on, good dogs. Go on, toilet time.

02:44She's got a bit unsure about you.

02:46Yeah, I know, but she already looks like she's coming out of show, doesn't she?

02:57That's all the poo picked up for today. We're going to feed them breakfast.

03:01We need to be pretty quick because we are having a dog behaviorist come in for the first time

03:07to work with probably Ivy to try and get her to stop jumping on the table while we're eating food.

03:13Let's feed the dog's breakfast.

03:15All of their food is ready.

03:17We're going to feed them a little bit differently than we did last night.

03:20Chloe and Moki are getting fed in the conservatory.

03:22Oh, Ivy, come here.

03:30It's breakfast time.

03:32Right. We're going to put Lola in her crate to eat.

04:02And last but not least, the mum.

04:12And that's how you feed six dogs.

04:17This is how all the dogs are getting on in the house so far.

04:21Becca is absolutely knackered.

04:23Like, just really tired.

04:25I think she's recovering from the two-day journey from Macedonia.

04:34Oh, she's so tired.

04:39Jockey, she's gone a little bit backwards today.

04:41You can see she's a little bit more cautious.

04:43Obviously, we're just going to give her a space.

04:46She's probably a bit confused, right?

04:47Yeah, I think she is.

04:49Because obviously, she's in a completely new place.

04:52Bless her.

04:54So yeah, she was showing some little signs yesterday of

04:58starting to come out of her shell.

04:59But you know, whenever you rescue a dog, it's never just like one straight upwards line of

05:06they're getting better every day.

05:07So there's going to be setbacks.

05:08There's going to be ups and downs.

05:09What's good is she's kind of scared of us.

05:12She's not really scared of the other dogs.

05:14Like, she gets on really well with them.

05:16Which is good.

05:16Mum and daughter, Loli and Ivy.

05:20Lola and Ivy, they kind of speak for themselves.

05:24They're just going absolutely nuts, as always.

05:27But one thing we have noticed is if I walk out of the room now.

05:32I'm about to knock it.

05:33There you go.

05:34Lola is pretty attached.

05:36So like if Ella walks out.

05:38She's like, where are you going?

05:39Where are you going?

05:39Can I come?

05:40She gets FOMO.

05:41Ready?

05:43And she's like, oh, let me come through.

05:49And even now, I'll come through the other door.

05:54She's like, oh, the human is back.

05:56So you can see Ivy's also curious, but like not as bad.

06:00Whereas Lola's like, I'm going to follow you everywhere.

06:02Yeah.

06:02I think I've got separation anxiety.

06:05She wants to be your shadow.

06:07Yeah, basically.

06:08Even when I sit up here, we have this up so that the dog's

06:11can't muddy up the sofa.

06:13And this one is up.

06:16Oh.

06:17Oh.

06:20No.

06:20That's not even Ivy, it's Lola.

06:22Kobe's time to do that.

06:23Oh, you're a good boy for your mum.

06:26Aren't you?

06:27Yeah.

06:28So you can see like, even if I'm walking out,

06:30I'm just walking towards the door.

06:31I'm not actually walking into Jockey, bless her.

06:34And she's kind of like this all day.

06:35Like just a little bit skittish, which is fine.

06:38She's going to have her ups and downs.

06:39Hopefully she will come out of her shell more.

06:41She's got plenty of time to do it, which is good.

06:44And then you've got this one.

06:45Hello, sleepy.

06:47This one's really recovering.

06:49She's still, I think, a little bit within herself.

06:52I think she's still going to come out of her shell more.

06:54But other than that, the dogs are getting on really, really well.

06:57Come on, Jockey girl.

07:00So she has, there you go.

07:02You can see the ups and downs, like you're walking around scared.

07:04Then she'll like, come up to you.

07:06And so we'll see how they get on over the next two weeks.

07:11Because of course, in two weeks time, we will be rescuing another four dogs.

07:17So next we've got Dilnaz coming, who is our professional dog behaviorist,

07:22who is going to be helping us with this one.

07:26So this is Dilnaz.

07:28She is a professional dog behaviorist, who's going to be helping us throughout the series.

07:34We decided to work with Ivy today, with Dilnaz.

07:38Because yesterday, when we were trying to eat our food,

07:41you could see her literally just like jumping up, begging for food.

07:45And so we want to train that out of her.

07:47So the first thing Dilnaz said to do is basically work on a exercise,

07:51where you get the dog to give you eye contact.

07:55And then every time they do that, you give them a treat.

07:57It's so that basically they learn to pay attention to you,

08:00so they can learn what the next step is that you want to teach them basically.

08:04Because there's a lot of distractions.

08:07And so that's why Dilnaz wanted to focus on that first.

08:10Once she had that, then she wanted to associate the mat with something positive

08:14and get Ivy onto the mat.

08:16So she did something where she guided Ivy onto the mat and then put the treat like

08:21right onto the mat to associate that with something positive.

08:25And we placed the treat right in front of her nose and mouth, bring her onto the mat.

08:30Yes.

08:31And then the treat goes to the mat, raising the value of the mat.

08:36And she essentially kept repeating that until it was more clear to Ivy on what to do.

08:41Me and Ella were literally shocked at how quickly Ivy was able to pick up to go onto the mat.

08:46Like she's super, super smart.

08:48I'm going to look at the mat.

08:49I'm not going to look at her, see if she can work it out.

08:52If she can't, we're going to go back to luring.

08:55Yes.

08:55Oh my God.

08:57Okay.

08:57And also you've got to bear in mind that these dogs have never been trained before.

09:01They obviously just live outside in that rescue.

09:04And so to be able to just like have one at one time with a professional behaviorist

09:08is just really, really nice for them.

09:10Okay.

09:10So after that, then she just started bringing in the word mat and pointing at the mat.

09:15So we would say Ivy, mat.

09:17So notice I haven't asked, yes, I haven't given the cue mat or anything yet.

09:23Okay.

09:24Why?

09:25Because she didn't know what we were trying to achieve.

09:27Yeah.

09:27So by using the word mat, she didn't, she wouldn't know what that meant.

09:30Yeah.

09:31Now, because she's consistent.

09:32Yeah.

09:33I can introduce the word to her.

09:34So I asked her to come up.

09:37Mat.

09:38Yes.

09:40And there it is.

09:42Right.

09:42So then you introduce the cue.

09:44Yeah.

09:44Ella then jumped in and started to have a go.

09:47And Ivy was getting really, really good.

09:49At this point, we're about half an hour into the training session.

09:53And so Dylan has then decided to actually test this being next to the dining table,

09:58which is obviously the natural place of where it'll be.

10:00And Ivy didn't get it at first, but Dylan has made it just like a little bit easier by

10:04moving over the bed to a different angle.

10:08And then eventually we got to a point where Ivy was doing this.

10:11Ivy.

10:13Mat.

10:15Yes.

10:16Now see how changing the orientation of the mat has helped you as well.

10:20Yes.

10:21So when problems come up, you want to think about what might be, okay, causing it.

10:26So it was a pretty successful first training session.

10:29Ivy seems really, really smart.

10:31We didn't do training for too long with her because she is a rescue

10:34and she's never had training before.

10:36Like it's a lot of stimulation and she's already learned so much today, which is great.

10:40And so a massive thank you to Dilnaz for coming today.

10:44You'll be seeing a lot more of her.

10:46And we're going to continue to keep training these dogs

10:48so that when they eventually do go to their forever homes,

10:51they're the best dogs that they can be.

10:53We don't usually introduce toys to the rescues until probably at least about a week in

10:58because we don't want them resource guarding.

11:00But seeing how they are, they're pretty good.

11:02So should we try and give them some toys?

11:04Yeah.

11:05Let's do it.

11:06Let's go out here.

11:06Moki apparently is very excited.

11:09Oh, Moki, be careful.

11:12Stupid dog, you're right Ivy.

11:14So the whole reason that we're doing this series with all of these dogs

11:17is because this is a fundraiser for the shelter that these dogs came from,

11:22which is Happy Shelter.

11:23And we're going to tell you a little bit more later on,

11:26on how you can donate and help fundraise £30,000 for Happy Shelter.

11:55And as you can see, they're not really bothered,

11:57which is kind of exactly what you want because they're not fighting over it.

11:59The most bothered dog is Moki.

12:25So now I'm going to check in on Ella and see how she's getting on.

12:28So me and Moki are actually feeling exhausted.

12:31It is day two, got a whole lot of days to go.

12:36And unfortunately, I have started my time of the month.

12:41So I'm feeling exhausted from that alone.

12:45And oh, Becca.

12:50And obviously, as much as these dogs are a little dream,

12:53that it is very tiring looking after six dogs 24 hours of the day.

12:57But yeah, I am enjoying it a lot.

13:00It's very fulfilling, but it's also very exhausting.

13:02And I think people don't really see that.

13:04And so I'm just keeping it real.

13:06So I feel like Moki is mimicking me.

13:09She can kind of, she's probably feeding off my emotions a bit.

13:12She's whining quite a lot today.

13:14She's not really been able to settle.

13:17Yeah, she's...

13:18You feeling a sleepy girl and a needy girl, aren't you?

13:22Yes, you like mama.

13:23Yes, good girl.

13:24Although I'm tired, obviously, this is very, very worth it.

13:28And we really hope to be able to raise the £30,000 for Happy Shelter.

13:33But obviously, we need your guys' help.

13:36And we've also got something to show you.

13:37We have gotten a trophy made, which says, oh, got a bit of dirt on it.

13:42Most improved rescue, 30 dogs in 30 days.

13:45So at the end of the series, we are going to award this to a rescue dog.

13:50And hopefully, by the time they also get adopted,

13:53their new owners can also take this with them.

13:55And I don't know, it's just cool, right?

13:58It's pretty cool.

13:59Who's going to get it?

14:00So my guess is, my little shoe-in, my guess,

14:02is it's probably going to go to you.

14:04Because it can't really go to Ivy and Lola right now.

14:07Because, I mean, they're just, they're already, like, completely fine.

14:10Whereas this one, you can see, needs quite a lot of work, don't you?

14:14But don't forget, we do have another four dogs coming in a couple of weeks' time.

14:18So you never know, one of those could win it.

14:20And although we've got all of these rescues here and they're getting on great,

14:23we can't forget that there's still a lot of rescues at the shelter that need your help.

14:28And so we're going to now go to Macedonia and you can meet Bruno.

14:32He's around four years old and somebody one night actually broke into the shelter

14:38and hit Bruno with a stick until he nearly died, which is just insane.

14:42So I think he's got some kind of, like, brain damage.

14:44You can see he's, like, really slow.

14:46He was once a happy puppy.

14:48Bruno suddenly became immobile and unable to walk, moving only with great pain.

14:52His chance of survival was very slim.

14:54He had to fight for his life.

14:55He had to re-learn how to walk, eat, sit and jump.

14:58He still shows slight neurological issues, but can now walk, run, jump and play just at a slower pace.

15:04So despite his past, Bruno is still gentle and loving.

15:07Bruno!

15:08Oh, he's eating.

15:09Oh, you got happy.

15:10But, you know, it's just amazing what Happy Shelter has done with him.

15:13What?

15:15Because if he was out on the streets, he wouldn't have stood a chance.

15:18So yeah, you can see he's a bit slower.

15:21Oh, his little tailwags.

15:23I know, they are slow motion.

15:24They're so cute.

15:26Good boy.

15:27He's still a very good boy.

15:29Oh, yes.
