Can our Golden Retriever Gain the Trust of These Rescue Puppies?

Our Golden Retriever Kobe was amazing with our 2 rescue dogs! He was so gentle with them, and our Doberman, Moki, also did such a great job!

00:00This is our newly rescued puppies, Sandy and Pickle.
00:03When they first met our dogs, they were terrified.
00:11But will they all be friends after seven days?
00:14Well, the journey to hopefully get into this started on day one.
00:18Both Sandy and Pickle completely shut down when they first met our dogs.
00:23Kobe and Moki were really curious, but the rescues wanted nothing to do with them.
00:28Moki, ayy, ayy, Moki, no.
00:33Moki, come. Moki, come.
00:36Good girl.
00:44That's better.
00:47Moki, come. Good girl.
00:50Oh, you alright there, Pickle?
00:52Bit confused.
00:54Moki, nicely. Moki, nicely. Good girl.
01:00Moki, ayy, Moki. Moki, oh.
01:03It felt really tense between all the dogs, but there's always a secret trick we always have on standby.
01:10As soon as we brought the treats out, you could see Sandy was all of a sudden looking a bit
01:14more interested.
01:17Good girl.
01:18Moki, come.
01:19Moki, come.
01:20Moki, come.
01:20Moki, come.
01:21Moki, come.
01:22Oh, do you want some?
01:23Um, Pickle?
01:24Good boy.
01:26Oh, that's putting you out of the shell, hasn't it?
01:29I guess it doesn't matter if you're a dog or a person.
01:32Food can bring all of us together.
01:34We then decided to separate the dogs to give Sandy and Pickle some time to themselves.
01:39Hello, Pickle.
01:42Hello.
01:44Hello.
01:44Is it?
01:45Hello, Pickle.
01:46They came out their shell a lot more.
01:48I think it's just going to take time until they're comfortable with our dogs.
01:52When they tried to come back into the house, they were really unsure again.
01:56This is probably because Sandy was found in a cardboard box near rubbish bins in Belarus.
02:01She clearly has trust issues with other dogs.
02:04We then showed Sandy and Pickle where they'll be sleeping for the night.
02:09Pickle's chosen the bigger crate.
02:19She left with a good look at herself.
02:24They were both so tired.
02:26What a crazy first day that must have been for them.
02:28I thought it was time for bed.
02:31Oh my god, yes.
02:32We know how crazy you are.
02:41That's the high five.
02:42Pickle.
02:48Pickle.
02:49Pickle.
02:53Pickle.
02:57And then we noticed Sandy was looking bloated.
03:00We were a bit worried, but it's probably because of all the stress she's been through.
03:04So we spoke to the rescue who got her over here and made some morrow carrot soup for her.
03:08This would help settle her stomach.
03:11Yes.
03:13Good girl.
03:14We also offered some to Pickle, but she was also probably too stressed to eat.
03:20They finally settled for the night.
03:22I wonder if they'll be feeling any more confident in day two.
03:25Kobe and Moki were out on a walk, which gave these two some time to get more comfortable around us
03:29and the house.
03:38They were clearly feeling good, so then they came to wake Ella up.
03:47And then our two dogs came back.
03:56We let Kobe out first as he's more gentle, but Sandy still wasn't sure.
04:05It's okay.
04:08You can tell that Kobe really wanted to comfort Sandy.
04:11He was really patient with her and was trying his best to show her he's not a threat.
04:20After laying down, Sandy was still unsure, so I tried to act as a peacemaker.
04:25And when I petted the both of them, she felt comfortable enough to go up to him and sniff his
04:29butt.
04:37And now that Sandy and Pickle were slowly becoming more trusting of Kobe, there was still one hurdle.
04:43A one-year-old mini horse that gets a bit excited and reads the room wrong every now and then.
04:48But before we get into that, I wanted to tell you guys about something that I've never discussed on the
04:52internet before.
04:53And it ties in amazingly with the paid partner of today's video, BetterHelp.
04:57I've suffered with depression for years.
04:59At one point it got so bad, I was actually admitted into an acute day treatment centre to make sure
05:04I kept myself safe.
05:05My mental health can get really bad.
05:07I get really bad anxiety and don't like going into public places.
05:11And I can start to worry about literally anything and everything.
05:15Whilst having the dogs was a massive part of helping me get through my depression,
05:19the biggest difference I saw was actually when I started talking to a therapist.
05:22When we first started our therapy sessions, I found it pretty hard to open up.
05:26And in all honesty, pretty uncomfortable.
05:28It's never easy telling someone everything you're going through.
05:31But it wasn't long until my therapist started to help me understand why I was feeling the way I was
05:36feeling.
05:37And began to give me professional advice on how to deal with this.
05:40You falling asleep?
05:41And so when BetterHelp reached out to work with us, we were so excited.
05:45BetterHelp is a platform where therapists and people like yourself can communicate effectively and get the most out of therapy.
05:51It's really easy to get started with BetterHelp too.
05:54You just need to fill out a questionnaire and they'll match you with a suitable therapist.

06:03you can easily switch to another one until you find someone that you really connect with.
06:07So if you're struggling right now and think you would like to give therapy a go, think about giving BetterHelp
06:12a try.
06:12You can use our link betterhelp.com forward slash the golden Kobe family and get 10% off your first
06:18month of therapy.
06:19And I'll put the link in the description as well.
06:22And now back to Moki, completely misreading the room.
06:25Moki, she's like staring so intensely at Paul.
06:28She wants to have a sniff.
06:31She's also got a workout.
06:35She's more than...
06:37She doesn't want to know.
06:48You're not doing anything wrong about you.
06:50You're just trying to say hi.
06:53But she is learning.
06:56Good girl.
06:58So Kobe and Moki fell asleep.
07:00Sandy and Pickle have somewhat of a newfound confidence,
07:03but they're a bit too scared to go past the open gate.
07:06So we opened the gate a bit more and tried to give them some confidence.
07:10They did manage to make it past the gate and we were so proud of them.
07:14They then continued to tiptoe around the sleeping dogs, which we found really funny.
07:24Pickle's in our own little world.
07:29Pickle had her harness on for the first time, so we were doing some reward training with them.
07:33They were both really smart and then we tried to teach Sandy to sit.
07:36Sit.
07:39Yes.
07:40Sit.
07:42Yes.
07:42And then all the dogs showed their first sign of bonding.
07:45Well done, Ella.
07:49Oh my god, look.
07:52Oh god, it's not for you, is it?
07:54Well done, Pickle.
07:55Oh, you're the bravest of them all.
07:57Haha.
08:02Oh, that was good.
08:03Did you see that?
08:04Yeah.
08:06Just gonna tell you off, Moki.
08:12This confidence definitely stayed with them, because in the morning of day 3, whilst Kobe and Moki were out, the
08:18dogs really started to show their true selves.
08:27Pickle's dominating her.
08:29He's like, listen mate.
08:31I'm the boss here.
08:34You want some?
08:35You want some?
08:36Yeah?
08:37True.
08:37I'll give it to you.
08:40Oh my god.
08:42Sandy, come back.
08:43Sandy, come on.
08:45Sandy.
08:47Sandy, come on.
08:49Good girl.
08:50Because of all the playing, the dogs absolutely hoovered their food down, and when Kobe and Moki came back, there
08:56was definitely a change.
08:58Come on then.
09:03Oh, brave girl.
09:05Come on.
09:06Come on.
09:07Come on.
09:08Brave girl.
09:09Well done.
09:16Moki.
09:26Good girl.
09:27Good girl.
09:28Doing very well.
09:30Well done.
09:31Well done.
09:32Things were looking up, but there was definitely more work to do.
09:39Moki, out.
09:41Moki, out.
09:44They're not all best friends yet, but in day four, things started to look a bit different.
09:50With the dogs getting more comfortable, we decided to take them on a walk.
09:54But we did keep Pickle in a carrier.
09:56She's still small and a bit more scared, so we wanted to ease her into things.
10:00This meant Sandy didn't have her playmate, so she was a bit unsure at first.
10:06But Kobe and Moki played to show her it's okay.
10:09Then Sandy started to gain some confidence.
10:12What?
10:13What?
10:14Yeah, what?
10:15I'm sorry.
10:16Good girl, Pickle.
10:18Good girl, Pickle.
10:20Done, Sandy.
10:20You're not scared.
10:21I'm excited.
10:27Careful, Sandy.
10:28Woo!
10:29Hello, Moki.
10:38How are you doing Pickle erasable on an airplane?
10:43Well done, Sandy.
10:45What are you doing?
10:49Oh, Sandy.
10:51Oh, good girl.
10:53Yeah, well done.
10:54Mum's going to clean that up, too.
10:56Pickle.
10:57Come on, Sandy.
11:09And when we got home, you could instantly see that was a massive bonding experience for all dogs.
11:15Yes, good dogs.
11:19Oh, Sandy.
11:21Give him Moki kisses.
11:23Oh, good dogs.
11:26This meant by day five, the dogs were starting to act like they've been here all their life.
11:31That was until we took them on their second walk in a little bit.
11:35Hello, Pickle.
11:39Hello, Pickle.
11:40Go on.
11:40Get up.
11:41Go on, Pickle.
11:42Get up.
11:42Go on, Pickle.
11:44Dogs.
11:45Dogs.
11:46Dogs.
11:48Oh, my God.
11:51Because Pickle felt so comfortable now, we thought this was the perfect time for her first walk.
11:56Pickle, come on.
11:57She was so brave from the very beginning, that was until Sandy and Pickle saw another dog for the first
12:02time.
12:07It's okay. It's okay.
12:10It was just an adorable car-moled dog. Pickle wasn't too bad, but you could tell Sandy was really unsure.
12:16We just hoped she didn't shut down again after.
12:27But, they continued their walk, which was really good, until we saw another dog.
12:32Hello.
12:34Yeah.
12:40Well done, Sandy.
12:45Sandy, come here. Sandy, who's this?
12:48Good job, yes.
12:50She did so much better. We were so proud of how they were all coming along.
12:54All the bonding on the walks, and Kobi and Moki showing them the outside is safe, has now meant that
12:59all dogs get along now.
13:02Moki, out. Moki, out.
13:05But, maybe not all dogs. Pickle still didn't like Moki.
13:08But, you won't believe what happens with these two in the next couple days.
13:13Moki didn't give up, though. She's a Doberman, and Dobies are really stubborn.
13:17She made it her mission to become best friends with Pickle.
13:20Moki, nicely.
13:22All of this playing and stimulation really tired out our dogs, and then, Ella found a way to help Moki
13:28bond with Pickle.
13:41And, of course, Kobi being the older and more calm dog, they were completely fine around him now.
13:46In day six, the dogs felt at home. They went absolutely nuts in the morning.
13:50Come on, then. Good morning, dogs.
13:53Okay, yeah. Very exciting.
13:56Sandy.
13:58Come on. Come on, dogs. Out.
14:00Come on.
14:01Come on, Moki.
14:04Come on.
14:05Yeah, hello, Kong.
14:06But, Pickle still did not like Moki.
14:08I'm very...
14:11So, Moki kept trying with her.
14:13This was her last ditched attempt to win over Pickle's heart.
14:17But when Moki realized Pickle's bite attempt towards her became more gentle,
14:21she knew it was only a matter of time before she had a new buddy for life.
14:49It's amazing that Pickle is able to trust again because she was left in a carrier near a rescue in
14:54Belarus.
14:55She's only around eight months old and already been through so much.
15:01Pickle is probably so loving now because she's subscribed to the channel.
15:05If you could too, that would be amazing.
15:08Moki, down.
15:09Good girl.
15:11Good girl, Moki. You're doing really well.
15:14And they end up playing all night together until day seven arrived.
15:20Kobe is not a morning dog and so he tells everyone off because he just wants to start his day
15:26in peace.
15:33Sandy decides she would like to play with Moki's toy but is still unsure how to ask Moki how to
15:38play together.
15:40Moki.
15:42Moki.
15:43Zina, look up.
15:48Over the next week, the dogs played and played.
15:51They really became a pack.
15:52But we are only fostering Sandy and Pickle.
15:55And I know they have formed an amazing bond with our two dogs.
15:58But if we were to keep them, we wouldn't have been able to help out our previous fosters.
16:02Rusa.
16:02Or Sheila.
16:03Or Zippy.
16:05This is always the hardest part.
16:07We vetted all potential new adopters and someone finally came to meet Pickle on day 14 of having her.
16:13Pickle was a little unsure at first.
16:15This is the first time someone new has come into the house.
16:19But it didn't take long for her to start warming up to her potential new family.
16:24They didn't want to be named so we're just going to be calling them the family.
16:27We somehow ended up forming like a comfort circle for Pickle.
16:30It was adorable and you could tell Pickle felt really safe and loved.
16:34The family went away and not surprisingly decided they wanted to adopt Pickle.
16:38We only had a few days left with her and this was really hard.
16:41By the way, if you're wondering who that massive new dog is, that's our latest foster.
16:45Be sure to subscribe to watch our future video on her.
16:48We make it our job to foster these pups and help them get their confidence back.
16:52But when they leave, it is really emotional.
16:54The family were a perfect match for Pickle.
16:57Very gentle and loving.
16:58And although this seems like this is the end for Pickle, this is actually just the start.
17:02She's come all the way from a rescue in Belarus to RPAC here in the UK.
17:06Learning to bond with a dog 10 times the size of her.
17:09And now finding her forever family.
17:11She is only 8 months old and she has her whole life ahead of her now.
17:16We are still looking for suitable adopters for Sandy.
17:18But for Pickle, this is goodbye for now.
17:21Thank you for being the bravest little dog we have ever had.
17:24We got some photos from her new family and they've said she's settling in really well.
17:28Which brings a happy tear to my eye.
17:30YouTube has chosen this video for you to watch next.
17:32So give it a tap or a click.
17:34Thanks for watching.
17:34Bye.
