Well Organizer of the Carnival of Speed and Speed Paradise events Robert Farrier is satisfied with the outcome of both events which took place this past weekend. The event saw a few local athletes gathering International Cycling Union ranking points and a display of sprinting brilliance by international competitors.

00:00Pick your lane. On the track of the velodrome in Coover, cyclists made their mark in the three-day event
00:06which featured over 100 local, regional and international athletes from 20 countries.
00:12We had a well-run competition, very well managed. We had world-class athletes at our world-class facility. We
00:22had athletes from 18 nations, so sport tourism was well represented.
00:26We did not attract the spectators' attendance that we were looking for, but as a conversation, we'll have to do
00:34on our post-mortem and see how we can improve in that area.
00:38Robert Faria believes despite the turnout, the athletes gave a good showing.
00:41In terms of standout, we had Makara, Wallace and Sweet Paradise podiuming in the sprints and also Jesse and Phillip
00:50doing podium on the sprint in Sweet Paradise.
00:55In the Carnival of Sweet competition, we had Zan, Polydor and Kwesi Brung representing. We had Kwesi Brung in the
01:06final of the Speed Paradise, Karen.
01:09We had Zan, Polydor in the final of the Carnival of Sweet, Karen. We had Kyra Williams also in the
01:17final of the Carnival of Sweet, Karen event.
01:20You know, so in terms of representation, all of our athletes were well represented.
01:26Faria says it was crucial for local athletes as well.
01:29All of our athletes that competed would have gotten valuable UCI points in terms of their placing and their ranking.
01:36So in terms of that, it was very beneficial to our local athletes who competed at the event.
