The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) continues to be unfairly criticised in its fight against crime.

This from Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro as he spoke in Tobago on Friday, at the Shirvan Road Police Station. Guevarro said when it comes to murders the statistics continue to trend lower.

00:00And now for the same comparative period as for last year, we are still trending lower.
00:08So even though it is marginally lower, what I want everyone to consider is that the last time Triangileo has
00:15seen homicide and serious crime rates this low was in 2011.
00:22Talk for that.
00:53When we climbed to 626 in 2024, the police were blamed as if we were outside killing people.
01:02But when we utilized the measures implemented and powers given to us by the states of emergency,
01:11which we know as war and death entry and preventative detention of us, and we increased our operational posture and
01:21executed what I would consider some of the greatest operational and strategic plans that the TTPS has ever done.
01:35He said members of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, TTPS, continue to be criticized despite going beyond the call
01:44of duty.
02:13But guess what?
02:14He put brains all over the ground.
02:17They never had to face the dangers that you face everything.
02:21And they never had to deliver adept notice to her father, mother, brother, sister, niece, nephew to say, hey, you're
02:30not going to come to the room tonight.
02:32And you'll never see that person again.
02:35They never had to do that.
02:36But you know what they will do?
02:37They will go on Facebook, Instagram, and they will criticize the police.
02:41He said house arrest is now the latest task, seeming to refer to Star Sabga, who is under house arrest.
02:51They're calling for more patrols, more prisons in schools.
02:54They want prisons and ponies in every street corner, in every shopping area.
03:00Now they even want us in the prison.
03:04And the latest task that they have given to us now is that they want us to put people on
03:09house arrest.
03:12Yeah, let me hear you correctly.
03:14So people don't want to make the jail in their own house.
