00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and
00:24right, he will preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:40Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:48The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will
00:57not reject.
01:02Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and
01:09confess our many sins and wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God our Heavenly Father, but
01:19confess them with a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart, to the end that we may obtain
01:28forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly
01:42when we assemble and meet together, to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his
01:48hands, to give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which
01:56are truly necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:03Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart
02:09and humble voice, to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:33We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which
02:38we ought not to have done, and so there is no health in us.
02:45But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ
03:01Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous,
03:10and sober life, to the glory of your holy name.
03:14Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people pardon and peace, that they may
03:25be cleansed from all their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind, through Jesus Christ
03:31our Lord.
03:33Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread, forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass
03:57against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever.
04:11Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
04:41is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 22
04:59My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?
05:04I groan in prayer, but help seems far away.
05:10My God, I cry out during the day, but you do not answer, and during the night my prayers
05:15do not let up.
05:18You are holy.
05:19You sit as king, receiving the praises of Israel.
05:23In you our ancestors trusted.
05:25They trusted in you, and you rescued them.
05:29To you they cried out, and they were saved.
05:33In you they trusted, and they were not disappointed.
05:37But I am a worm, not a man.
05:39People insult me, and despise me.
05:42All who see me taunt me.
05:44They mock me, and shake their heads.
05:48They say, commit yourself to the Lord.
05:51Let the Lord rescue him.
05:53Let the Lord deliver him, for he delights in him.
05:58Yes, you are the one who brought me out from the womb, and made me feel secure on my mother's
06:05breast.
06:06I have been dependent on you since birth.
06:09From the time I came out of my mother's womb, you have been my God.
06:15Do not remain far away from me, for trouble is near, and I have no one to help me.
06:21Many bulls surrender me.
06:25Powerful bulls of Bashan hem me in.
06:29They open their mouths to devour me, like a roaring lion that rips its prey.
06:35My strength drains away like water.
06:38All my bones are dislocated, my heart is like wax.
06:42It melts away inside me.
06:46The roof of my mouth is as dry as a piece of pottery.
06:51My tongue sticks to my gums.
06:53You set me in the dust of death.
06:57Yes, wild dogs surround me.
06:59A gang of evil men crowd around me.
07:02Like a lion, they pin my hands and feet.
07:07I can count all my bones.
07:08My enemies are gloating over me in triumph.
07:13They are dividing up my clothes among themselves.
07:16They are rolling dice for my garments.
07:20But you, O Lord, do not remain far away.
07:24You are my source of strength.
07:26Hurry and help me.
07:29Deliver me from the sword.
07:31Save my life from the claws of the wild dogs.
07:35Rescue me from the mouth of the lion and from the horns of the wild oxen.
07:41You have answered me.
07:43I will declare your name to my countrymen.
07:46In the middle of the assembly I will praise you.
07:50You loyal followers of the Lord, praise him.
07:53All you descendants of Jacob, honour him.
07:56All you descendants of Israel, stand in awe of him.
08:01For he did not despise or detest the suffering of the oppressed.
08:06He did not ignore him.
08:08When he cried out to him, he responded.
08:12You are the reason I offer praise in the great assembly.
08:15I will fulfil my promises before the Lord's loyal followers.
08:20Let the oppressed eat and be filled.
08:23Let those who seek his help praise the Lord.
08:26May you live for ever.
08:29Let all the people of the earth acknowledge the Lord and turn to him.
08:33Let all the nations worship you.
08:37For the Lord is king and rules over the nations.
08:41All of the thriving people of the earth will join the celebration and worship.
08:46All those who are descending into the grave will bow before him, including those who cannot preserve their lives.
08:55A whole generation will serve him.
08:58They will tell the next generation about the Lord.
09:02They will come and tell about his saving deeds.
09:06They will tell a future generation what he has accomplished.
09:10Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
09:17is now and ever shall be, world without end.
09:21Amen.
09:25Psalm 23
09:28The Lord is my shepherd.
09:30I lack nothing.
09:32He takes me to lush pastures.
09:35He leads me to refreshing water.
09:37He restores my strength.
09:39He leads me down the right paths for the sake of his reputation.
09:44Even when I must walk through the darkest valley, I fear no danger.
09:49For you are with me.
09:51Your rod and your staff reassure me.
09:55You prepare a feast before me in plain sight of my enemies.
10:00You refresh my head with oil.
10:02My cup is completely full.
10:05Surely your goodness and faithfulness will pursue me all my days, and I will live in the Lord's house for
10:12the rest of my life.
10:15Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
10:22is now and ever shall be, world without end.
10:26Amen.
10:35The second book of Chronicles, chapters 16 and 17
10:42In the thirty-sixth year of Esau's reign, King Basha of Israel attacked Judah and established Ramah as a military
10:52outpost to prevent anyone from leaving or entering the land of King Esau of Judah.
11:00Esau took all the silver and gold that was left in the treasuries of the Lord's temple and of the
11:05royal palace and sent it to King Ben-Hadad of Syria, ruler in Damascus, along with this message.
11:13I want to make a treaty with you like the one our fathers made.
11:18See, I have sent you gold and silver.
11:21Break your treaty with King Basha of Israel so that he will retreat from my land.
11:29Ben-Hadad accepted King Esau's offer and ordered his army commanders to attack the city of Israel.
11:37They conquered Ijon, Dan, Abel, Maim and all the storage cities of Nabthali.
11:46When Basha heard the news, he stopped fortifying Ramah and abandoned the project.
11:53King Esau ordered all the men of Judah to carry away the stones and wood that Basha had used to
11:59build Ramah and used the material to build up Jeba and Mitpah.
12:07At that time Hanani, the prophet, visited King Esau of Judah and said to him,
12:15Because you relied on the king of Syria and did not rely on the Lord your God, the army of
12:21the king of Syria, as escaped from your land.
12:26Did not the Kashaits and Libyans have a huge army with chariots and a very large number of horsemen?
12:34When you relied on the Lord, he handed them over to you.
12:39Certainly, the Lord watches the whole earth carefully and is ready to strengthen those who are devoted to him.
12:48You have acted foolishly in this manner and from now on you will have war.
12:56Esau was so angry with the prophet, he put him in jail.
13:01He also oppressed some of the people at that time.
13:06The events of Esau's reign from start to finish are recorded in the scroll of the kings of Judah and
13:14Israel.
13:15In the thirty-ninth year of his reign, Esau developed a foot disease.
13:22Though his disease was severe, he did not seek the Lord but only the doctors.
13:29And he passed away in the forty-first year of his reign.
13:34He was buried in the tomb he had carved out in the city of David.
13:40They laid him to rest on a beer covered with spices and assorted mixtures of ointments.
13:46And they made a huge bonfire to honor him.
13:53His son Jehoshaphat replaced him as king and solidified his rule over Israel.
14:01He placed troops in all of Judah's fortified cities and posted garrisons throughout the land of Judah and in the
14:09cities of Ephraim that his father Esau had seized.
14:14The Lord was with Jehoshaphat because he followed in his ancestor David's footsteps at the beginning of his reign.
14:22He did not seek the Balaam but instead sought the God of his ancestors obeying his commands unlike the Israelites.
14:34The Lord made his kingdom secure and all of Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat and he became very wealthy and
14:43greatly respected.
14:45He was committed to following the Lord even removing the high places and Asherah poles from Judah.
14:55In the third year of his reign he sent his officials Ben-Hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanael and Micaiah to teach
15:04in the cities of Judah.
15:07They were accompanied by the Levites, Shemaiah, Nethanael, Zebediah, Ashael, Shemeremoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah and Tob-Adonijah and by the
15:21priests Elishamah and Jehoram.
15:24They taught throughout Judah taking with them the scroll of the law of the Lord and they traveled to all
15:32the cities of Judah teaching the people.
15:37The Lord put fear into all the kingdoms surrounding Judah and they did not make war with Jehoshaphat.
15:45Some of the Philistines brought to Jehoshaphat a tribute including a load of silver.
15:52The Arabs brought him 7,700 rams and 7,700 goats from their flocks.
16:03Jehoshaphat's power kept increasing and he built fortresses and storage cities throughout Judah.
16:10He had many supplies stored in the cities of Judah and an army of skilled warriors were stationed in Jerusalem.
16:21This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
16:43This is the word of the Lord.
16:43And my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour because he has looked upon the humble state of
16:52his servant.
16:54For from now on all generations will call me blessed because he who is mighty has done great things for
17:02me and holy is his name.
17:05From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
17:11He has demonstrated power with his arm.
17:15He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
17:21He has brought down the mighty from their thrones and has lifted up those of lowly position.
17:27He has filled the hungry with good things and has sent the rich away empty.
17:34He has helped his servant Israel, remembering his mercy as he promised to our ancestors, to Abraham and to his
17:44descendants forever.
17:47Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
17:53is now and ever shall be, world without end.
17:58Amen.
18:10The epistle to the Hebrews chapter 10
18:16Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by the fresh
18:25and living way that he inaugurated for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh and since we have
18:36a great high priest over the house of God,
18:38let us draw near with a sincere heart in the assurance that our faith brings to us, because we have
18:46had our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water.
18:55Let us hold unwaveringly to the hope we confess, for the one who made the promise is trustworthy.
19:04Let us take the thought of how to spur on one another to love and good works, not abandoning our
19:11own meetings as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and even more so because you
19:20see the day drawing near.
19:23For if we deliberately keep on sinning, receiving the knowledge of the truth, no further sacrifice for sin is left
19:32for us, but only a certain fearful expectation of judgment and a fury of fire that will consume God's enemies.
19:43Someone who rejected the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three
19:49witnesses.
19:51How much greater punishment do you think a person deserves who has nothing but contempt for the Son of God,
19:58profaning the blood of the covenant that made him holy and insulting the spirit of grace?
20:07For we know the one who said, vengeance is mine, I will repay, and again, the Lord will judge his
20:14people.
20:17It is truly a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
20:25But remember the former days when you endured a harsh conflict of suffering after you were enlightened.
20:32At times you were publicly exposed to abuse and afflictions, and at other times you came to share with others
20:40who were treated in the same way.
20:43In fact, you shared the sufferings of those in prison, and you accepted the confiscation of your belongings with joy,
20:51because you knew that you certainly had a better and lasting possession.
20:58So do not throw away your confidence, because it has great reward, for you need endurance in order to do
21:06God's will, and so receive that which is promised.
21:12For just a little longer, and he who is coming will arrive and will not delay.
21:18But my righteous one will live by faith, and if he shrinks back, I take no pleasure in him.
21:25We are not among those who shrink back and thus perish, but are amongst those who have faith, preserving their
21:34souls.
21:36This is the word of the Lord.
21:39Thanks be to God.
21:53Now according to your word, Sovereign Lord, permit your servant to depart in peace.
22:00For my eyes have seen your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
22:07a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.
22:15Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
22:21is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
22:31I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our
22:39Lord,
22:40who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
22:48was crucified, was crucified, dead, and buried.
22:52He descended into hell.
22:54On the third day he rose again from the dead.
22:58He ascended into heaven, and is sitting at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
23:05From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
23:10I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection
23:19of the body, and the life everlasting.
23:23Amen.
23:28The Lord be with you, and with your spirit.
23:35Let us pray.
23:38Lord, have mercy upon us.
23:42Christ, have mercy upon us.
23:46Lord, have mercy upon us.
23:53Our Father, who is in heaven, holy is your name.
23:59May your kingdom come.
24:01May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
24:06Give us this day our daily bread.
24:09Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
24:15Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
24:20For yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever.
24:28Amen.
24:33O Lord, show your mercy upon us, and grant us your salvation.
24:42Protect and guide those in authority over us,
24:46and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
24:52Endue your ministers with righteousness,
24:56and make your chosen people joyful.
25:01O Lord, save your people, and bless your inheritance.
25:09Give peace in our time, O Lord,
25:13because there is none other who fights for us but only you, O God.
25:19O God, make clean our hearts within us,
25:24and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
25:35Let us pray.
25:38Almighty and everlasting God, who has given us your servant's grace,
25:44by the confession of a true faith,
25:46to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity,
25:50in the power of your divine majesty to worship the unity.
25:54We beseech you that you keep us steadfast in this faith,
25:59and evermore defend us from all adversities,
26:03who lives and reigns, one God, world without end.
26:07Amen.
26:16O God, from whom all holy desires, all good counsels, and all just works proceed,
26:24give to your servants that peace which the world cannot give,
26:29that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments,
26:33and also that, by you, we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
26:40may pass our time in rest and quietness,
26:44through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour.
26:48Amen.
26:53Light in our darkness we beseech you, O Lord,
26:56and by your great mercy defend us all from perils and dangers of this night.
27:03For the love of your only Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
27:08Amen.
27:12Almighty God, who has given us grace at this time with one accord,
27:17to make our common supplications to you,
27:19and promises that when two or three are gathered together in your name,
27:24you will grant their requests.
27:28Fulfill now, O Lord, the desires and petitions of your servants,
27:33as may be most beneficial for them,
27:38granting us in this world knowledge of your truth,
27:41and in the world to come life everlasting.
27:46Amen.
27:49With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
27:51and the love of God,
27:53and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
27:55be with us all evermore.
27:58Amen.
