00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart, to the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his
01:31infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands, to give him most worthy praise, to
01:52hear his most holy word,
01:54and to ask those things which are truly necessary, as well for the body as the soul.
02:03Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:10voice, to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:45But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind, in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace,
03:24that they may be cleansed from all their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind, through Jesus Christ our
03:32Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
04:39as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
04:43world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
04:56Psalm 27
04:59The Lord delivers and vindicates me.
05:02I fear no one.
05:04The Lord protects my life.
05:06I am afraid of no one.
05:09When evil men attack me to devour my flesh,
05:13when my adversaries and enemies attack me,
05:15they stumble and fall.
05:18Even when an army is deployed against me,
05:21I do not fear.
05:23Even when war is imminent,
05:25I remain confident.
05:28I have asked the Lord for one thing.
05:30This is what I desire.
05:31I want to live in the Lord's house all the days of my life,
05:36so that I can gaze at the splendor of the Lord and contemplate in his temple.
05:42He will surely give me shelter in the day of danger.
05:46He will hide me in his home.
05:48He will place me on an inaccessible, rocky summit.
05:53Now I will triumph over my enemies who surround me.
05:56I will offer sacrifices in his dwelling place and shout for joy.
06:01I will sing praises to the Lord.
06:05Hear me, O Lord, when I cry out.
06:08Have mercy on me and answer me.
06:11My heart tells me to pray to you.
06:15And I do pray to you, O Lord.
06:18Do not reject me.
06:20Do not push your servant away in anger.
06:23You are my deliverer.
06:25Do not forsake nor abandon me,
06:27O God who vindicates me.
06:31Even if my father and mother abandoned me,
06:34the Lord would take me in.
06:36Teach me how you want me to live, O Lord.
06:40Lead me along a level path,
06:41because of those who wait to ambush me.
06:45Do not turn me over to my enemies,
06:48for false witnesses who want to destroy me
06:51testify against me.
06:54Where would I be if I did not believe
06:57I could experience the Lord's favour
06:59in the land of the living?
07:03Rely on the Lord.
07:04Rely on the Lord.
07:04Be strong and confident.
07:06Rely on the Lord.
07:09Glory be to the Father,
07:10and to the Son,
07:11and to the Holy Spirit,
07:13as it was in the beginning,
07:16now and ever shall be,
07:18world without end.
07:20Amen.
07:23Psalm 28
07:25To you, O Lord, I cry out.
07:28My protector, do not ignore me.
07:31If you do not respond to me,
07:32I will join those who are descending
07:35into the grave.
07:37Hear my plea for mercy
07:39when I cry out to you for help,
07:41when I lift my hands
07:43toward your holy temple.
07:45Do not drag me away with evil men,
07:48with those who behave wickedly,
07:50who talk in such a friendly
07:53to their neighbours
07:54while they plan to harm them.
07:58Pay them back for their evil deeds.
08:00Pay them back for what they do.
08:02Punish them.
08:03For they do not understand
08:05the Lord's actions
08:06or the way he carries out justice.
08:10The Lord will permanently demolish them.
08:14The Lord deserves praise,
08:16for he has heard my plea for mercy.
08:20The Lord strengthens and protects me.
08:22I trust in him with all my heart.
08:25I am rescued,
08:26and my heart is full of joy.
08:28I will sing to him in gratitude.
08:32The Lord strengthens his people.
08:34He protects and delivers his chosen king.
08:38Deliver your people.
08:40Empower the nation that belongs to you.
08:43Care for them like a shepherd
08:45and carry them in your arms at all times.
08:49Glory be to the Father
08:50and to the Son
08:51and to the Holy Spirit,
08:53as it was in the beginning,
08:55is now and ever shall be,
08:57world without end.
08:59Amen.
09:02Psalm 29
09:06Acknowledge the Lord,
09:07you heavenly beings.
09:09Acknowledge the Lord's majesty and power.
09:12Acknowledge the majesty of the Lord's reputation.
09:16Worship the Lord in holy attire.
09:19The Lord's shout is heard over the water.
09:22The majestic God thunders.
09:24The Lord appears over the surging water.
09:28The Lord's shout is powerful.
09:30The Lord's shout is majestic.
09:33The Lord's shout breaks the cedars.
09:36The Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon.
09:39He makes Lebanon skip like a calf
09:42and Syrian like a young ox.
09:45The Lord's shout strikes with flaming fire.
09:49The Lord's shout wakes the wilderness.
09:52The Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
09:56The Lord's shout bends the large trees
09:59and strips the leaves from the forest.
10:01Everyone in his temple says,
10:04majestic.
10:06The Lord sits enthroned over the engulfing waters.
10:10The Lord sits enthroned as the eternal king.
10:14The Lord gives his people strength.
10:16The Lord grants his people security.
10:20Glory be to the Father and to the Son
10:23and to the Holy Spirit.
10:25As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be.
10:29World without end.
10:31Amen.
10:39The second book of Chronicles, chapter 20.
10:44Later, the Moabites and Ammonites,
10:47along with some of the Mayonites,
10:50attacked Jehoshaphat.
10:53Messengers arrived and reported to Jehoshaphat,
10:56a large army is attacking you
10:58from the other side of the Dead Sea,
11:00from the direction of Edom.
11:03Look, they are in Hazazon, Tamar,
11:07that is, in Jedim.
11:09Jehoshaphat was afraid,
11:11so he decided to seek the Lord's advice.
11:15He decreed that all of Judah
11:17should observe a fast.
11:20The people of Judah assembled
11:22to ask for the Lord's help.
11:24They came from all the cities of Judah
11:27to ask for the Lord's help.
11:31Jehoshaphat stood before the assembly of Judah
11:34and Jerusalem at the Lord's temple,
11:36in front of the new courtyard.
11:39He prayed,
11:40O Lord God of our ancestors,
11:42you are the God who lives in heaven
11:44and rules over the kingdoms of the nations.
11:48You possess strength and power.
11:51No one can stand against you.
11:54Our God,
11:55you drove out to the inhabitants of this land
11:57before your people Israel
11:59and gave it as a permanent position
12:02to the descendants of your friend Abraham.
12:06They settled down in it
12:08and built a temple to honour you,
12:09saying,
12:10If disaster comes upon us
12:12in the form for military attack,
12:15judgment, plague or famine,
12:17we will stand in front of this temple before you,
12:20for you are present in this temple.
12:23We will cry out to you for help in our distress,
12:27so that you will hear and deliver us.
12:32Now the Ammonites, Moabites
12:34and the men of Mount Seir are coming.
12:38When Israel came from the land of Egypt,
12:41you did not allow them to invade these lands.
12:44They bypassed them and did not destroy them.
12:47And look how they repay us.
12:50They come to drive us out of our allotted land,
12:53which you assigned to us.
12:57Our God, will you not judge them,
13:00for we are powerless against this huge army
13:03that attacks us.
13:05We do not know what we should do,
13:08and so we look to you for help.
13:12All the men of Judah were standing before the Lord,
13:15along with their infants, wives and children.
13:21Then in the midst of the assembly,
13:23the Lord's Spirit came upon Jacaziel,
13:26son of Zechariah, son of Benaniah,
13:28son of Jehiel, son of Mataniah,
13:31a Levite and descendant of Asaph.
13:34He said,
13:35Pay attention, you people of Judah,
13:39the residents of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat.
13:44This is what the Lord says to you.
13:47Do not be afraid.
13:49Do not panic because of this huge army.
13:52For the battle is not yours, but God's.
13:59Tomorrow, march down against them
14:01as they come up the ascent of Ziz.
14:04You will find them at the end of the ravine
14:07in front of the deserts of Jeruel.
14:11You will not fight in this battle.
14:14Take your positions,
14:16stand and watch the Lord deliver you,
14:19O Judah and Jerusalem.
14:21Don't be afraid and don't panic.
14:24Tomorrow, march out toward them.
14:27The Lord is with you.
14:32Jehoshaphat bowed down with his face
14:34toward the ground
14:35and all the people of Judah
14:37and the residents of Jerusalem
14:39fell down before the Lord
14:40and worshipped him.
14:43Then, some Levites
14:45from the Cahathites
14:47and the Korathites
14:48got up and loudly praised
14:50the Lord God of Israel.
14:54Early next morning,
14:55they marched out
14:56to the desert of Tecun.
14:59And when they were ready to march,
15:01Jehoshaphat stood up and said,
15:03Listen to me,
15:04you people of Judah
15:05and residents of Jerusalem.
15:08Trust in the Lord your God
15:10and you will be safe.
15:12Trust in the message of his prophets
15:14and you will win.
15:19He met with the people
15:21and appointed musicians
15:22to play before the Lord
15:24and praise his majestic splendour.
15:28As they marched ahead of the warriors,
15:30they said,
15:31Give thanks to the Lord
15:32for his loyal love endures.
15:38When they began to shout
15:39and sing praises,
15:41the Lord suddenly attacked
15:42the Ammonites,
15:43Moabites,
15:44together with the men
15:46of Mount Seir
15:47who were invading Judah
15:48and they were defeated.
15:51The Ammonites
15:52and the Moabites
15:54attacked the men
15:54from Mount Seir
15:55and annihilated them.
15:57And when they finished off
15:59the men of Seir,
16:00they attacked
16:00and destroyed one another.
16:03When the men of Judah
16:04arrived at the observation post
16:06overlooking the desert,
16:07I looked at the huge army.
16:10They saw dead bodies
16:12on the ground.
16:14There were no survivors.
16:18Jehoshaphat and his men
16:19went together
16:20to collect the plunder,
16:23finding a huge amount
16:24of supplies, clothing
16:25and valuable items.
16:28They carried away
16:30everything they could.
16:32There was so much plunder
16:34it took them
16:35three days
16:36to take it away.
16:40On the fourth day
16:42they assembled
16:42in the valley of Berachah
16:44where they praised the Lord.
16:47So that place
16:48is called
16:48the valley of Berachah
16:50to this very day.
16:51Then all the men
16:53of Judah
16:53and Jerusalem
16:54returned
16:54in joy to Jerusalem
16:56with Jehoshaphat
16:58leading them.
17:00The Lord
17:01had given them
17:02reason
17:02to rejoice
17:03over their enemies.
17:05They entered Jerusalem
17:07to the sound
17:08of stringed instruments
17:10and trumpets
17:11proceeding
17:13to the temple
17:13of the Lord.
17:17All the kingdoms
17:18of the surrounding lands
17:20were afraid of God
17:21when they heard
17:22how the Lord
17:22had fought
17:23against Israel's enemies.
17:27Jehoshaphat's kingdom
17:28enjoyed peace.
17:29His God
17:30made him secure
17:32on every side.
17:34This is the word
17:36of the Lord.
17:37Thanks be to God.
17:52Mary said
17:53My soul
17:55exalts
17:56the Lord
17:56and my spirit
17:58has begun
17:58to rejoice
17:59in God
17:59my Saviour
18:01because he
18:02has looked
18:02upon the humble
18:04state
18:04of his servant.
18:07For from now
18:08on all generations
18:09will call me
18:10blessed
18:10because he
18:12who is mighty
18:13has done
18:13great things
18:14for me
18:15and holy
18:16is his name.
18:18From generation
18:19to generation
18:20he is merciful
18:21to those
18:22who fear him.
18:24He has demonstrated
18:25power
18:26with his arm.
18:28He has scattered
18:29those whose pride
18:30wells up
18:30from the sheer
18:31arrogance
18:32of their hearts.
18:34He has brought
18:35down the mighty
18:35from their thrones
18:36and has lifted
18:38up those
18:38of lowly
18:39position.
18:40He has filled
18:41the hungry
18:42with good things
18:43and has sent
18:44the rich
18:45away empty.
18:46He has helped
18:48his servant
18:48Israel
18:49remembering
18:50his mercy
18:51as he promised
18:52to our ancestors
18:54to Abraham
18:55and to his
18:57descendants
18:57forever.
18:59Glory be
19:00to the Father
19:01and to the Son
19:02and to the Holy
19:03Spirit.
19:04As it was
19:05in the beginning
19:06is now
19:07and ever
19:08shall be
19:08world without
19:10end.
19:11Amen.
19:19The Epistles
19:20of the Hebrews
19:21chapter 11
19:26Now faith
19:27is being certain
19:28of what we
19:29hope for
19:29being convinced
19:31of what we
19:32do not see
19:33for by it
19:34the people
19:35of old
19:35received
19:36God's
19:37commendation.
19:39By faith
19:40we understand
19:40that the worlds
19:41were set in order
19:42at God's command
19:43so that the visible
19:44has its origin
19:45in the invisible.
19:48By faith
19:49Abel
19:50offered God
19:51a greater sacrifice
19:52than Cain
19:53and through
19:54his faith
19:55was commended
19:56as righteous
19:56because God
19:58commended him
19:58for his offering.
20:01Through his faith
20:02he still speaks
20:03though he is dead.
20:05By faith
20:06Enoch was taken up
20:08so that he did not
20:09see death
20:10and was not
20:11to be found
20:11because God
20:12had taken him up.
20:14For before
20:15his removal
20:16he had been
20:17commended
20:18as having
20:18pleased God.
20:21Now without
20:22faith
20:22it is impossible
20:23to please him
20:24for the one
20:25who approaches
20:26God must believe
20:27that he exists
20:28and that he rewards
20:29those who seek him.
20:32By faith
20:33Noah
20:34when he was
20:35warned
20:35about things
20:36not yet seen
20:37with reverent
20:38regard
20:38constructed
20:39an ark
20:40for the deliverance
20:41of his family.
20:43Through faith
20:44he condemned
20:45the world
20:45and became
20:46an heir
20:46of righteousness
20:47that comes
20:48by faith.
20:50By faith
20:51Abraham
20:52obeyed
20:53when he was
20:53called
20:53to go out
20:54to a place
20:55he would later
20:55receive as an
20:56inheritance
20:58and he went out
20:59without understanding
21:01where he was going.
21:03By faith
21:04he lived
21:04as a foreigner
21:05in the promised land
21:06as though it were
21:08a foreign country
21:09living in tents
21:10with Isaac
21:11and Jacob
21:11who were
21:12fellow heirs
21:13of the same promise
21:15for he was
21:16looking forward
21:17to the city
21:17with firm foundations
21:19whose architect
21:20and builder
21:21is God.
21:23By faith
21:24even though
21:25Sarah herself
21:26was barren
21:27and he was too old
21:28he received
21:29the ability
21:30to procreate
21:31because he regarded
21:32the one
21:33who had given
21:33the promise
21:34to be trustworthy.
21:36So in fact
21:37children were
21:38fathered by one man
21:39and this one
21:40as good as dead
21:41like the number
21:43of stars in the sky
21:44and like the innumerable
21:45grains of sand
21:46on the seashore.
21:49These all died in faith
21:50without receiving
21:51the things promised
21:53but yet
21:54they saw them
21:55in the distance
21:55and welcomed them
21:57and acknowledged
21:58that they were strangers
21:59and foreigners
22:00on the earth
22:01for those who speak
22:02in such a way
22:03make it clear
22:05that they are
22:06seeking a homeland.
22:09In fact
22:10if they had been
22:12thinking of the land
22:12that they had left
22:13they would have had
22:14an opportunity
22:14to return
22:16but as it was
22:17they had spired
22:19to a better land
22:20that is
22:20a heavenly one.
22:23Therefore God
