00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:50Give us this day our daily bread.
03:53Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 18
05:02He said,
05:03I love you, Lord, my source of strength.
05:07The Lord is my high ridge, my stronghold, my deliverer.
05:11My God is my rocky summit, where I take shelter, my shield, the horn that saves me, and my refuge.
05:20I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I was delivered from my enemies.
05:27The waves of death engulfed me, the currents of chaos overwhelmed me.
05:33The ropes of shale tightened around me, the snares of death trapped me.
05:39In my distress I called to the Lord, I cried out to my God.
05:45From his heavenly temple he heard my voice, he listened to my cry for help.
05:51The earth heaved and shook, the roots of the mountains trembled, they heaved because he was angry.
06:00Smoke ascended from his nose, fire devoured, as it came from his mouth.
06:05He hurled down fiery coals.
06:09He made the sky sink as he descended, a thick cloud was under his feet.
06:16He mounted a winged angel and flew, he glided on the wings of the wind.
06:21He shrouded himself in darkness, in thick rain clothes.
06:26From the brightness in front of him came hail and fiery coals.
06:32The Lord thundered in the sky, the Most High shouted.
06:36He shot his arrows and scattered them, many lightning bolts, and routed them.
06:42The depths of the sea were exposed.
06:45The inner regions of the world were uncovered by your battle cry, Lord,
06:50by the powerful breath from your nose.
06:54He reached down from above and took hold of me.
06:57He pulled me from the surging water.
07:00He rescued me from my strong enemy, from those who hate me, for they were too strong for me.
07:08They confronted me in my day of calamity, but the Lord helped me.
07:13He brought me out into a wide open place.
07:17He delivered me because he was pleased with me.
07:21The Lord repaid me for my godly deeds.
07:24He rewarded my blameless behaviour.
07:27For I have obeyed the Lord's commands.
07:31I have not rebelled against my God.
07:34For I am aware of all his regulations, and I do not reject his rules.
07:40I was innocent before him and kept myself from sinning.
07:46The Lord rewarded me for my godly deeds.
07:49He took notice of my blameless behaviour.
07:53You prove to be loyal to one who is faithful.
07:57You prove to be trustworthy to one who is innocent.
08:02You prove to be reliable to one who is blameless.
08:06But you prove to be deceptive to one who is perverse.
08:11For you deliver oppressed people, but you bring down those who have a proud look.
08:18Indeed, you light my lamp, Lord.
08:21My God illuminates the darkness around me.
08:25Indeed, with your help, I can charge against an army.
08:29By my God's power, I can jump over a wall.
08:35The one true God acts in a faithful manner.
08:38The Lord's promise is reliable.
08:41He is a shield to all who take shelter in him.
08:47Indeed, who is God beside the Lord?
08:50Who is protector beside our God?
08:54The one true God gives me strength.
08:56He removes the obstacles in my way.
09:00He gives me the agility of a deer.
09:03He enables me to negotiate the rugged terrain.
09:07He trains my hands for battle.
09:10My arms can bend even the strongest bow.
09:15You give me your protective shield.
09:18Your right hand supports me.
09:20Your willingness to help enables me to prevail.
09:24You widen my path.
09:26My feet do not slip.
09:28I chase my enemies and catch them.
09:31I do not turn back until I wipe them out.
09:35I beat them to death.
09:37They fall at my feet.
09:40You give me strength for battle.
09:42You make my foes kneel.
09:45You make my enemies retreat.
09:48I destroy those who hate me.
09:51They cry out, but there is no one to help them.
09:55They cry out to the Lord, but he does not answer them.
09:59I grind them as fine wind-blown dust.
10:04I beat them underfoot like clay in the streets.
10:08You rescue me from a hostile army.
10:11You make me a leader of nations,
10:13people over whom I had no authority,
10:16are now my subjects.
10:19When they hear of my exploits,
10:21they submit to me.
10:23Foreigners are powerless before me.
10:25Foreigners lose their courage.
10:27They shake with fear as they leave their strongholds.
10:31The Lord is alive.
10:33My protector is praiseworthy.
10:35The God who delivers me is exalted as king.
10:40The one true God completely vindicates me.
10:44He makes nations submit to me.
10:47He delivers me from my enemies.
10:50You snatch me away from those who attack me.
10:54You rescue me from violent men.
10:57So, I will give you thanks before the nations, O Lord.
11:02I will sing praises to you.
11:04He gives his king magnificent victories.
11:09He is faithful to his chosen ruler,
11:12to David and his descendants forever.
11:15Glory be to the Father and to the Son
11:17and to the Holy Spirit,
11:19as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
11:23world without end.
11:25Amen.
11:31The Book of Job, Chapter 9
11:34Then Job answered,
11:36Truly I know that this is so,
11:38but how can a human be just before God?
11:42If someone wants to contend with him,
11:45he cannot answer him one time in a thousand.
11:49He is wise in heart and mighty in strength.
11:52Who has resisted him and remained safe?
11:56He who removes mountains suddenly,
11:58who overturns them in his anger.
12:01He who shakes the earth out of its place,
12:04so that its pillars tremble.
12:06He who commands the sun and it does not shine,
12:10sealing up the stars.
12:12He alone spreads out the heaven
12:14and treads on the waves of the sea.
12:16He makes the bear or rile and apply these
12:20and the constellations of the southern sky.
12:23He does great and unsearchable things
12:26and wonderful things without number.
12:30If he passes by, I cannot see him.
12:33If he goes by, I cannot perceive him.
12:36If he snatches away, who can turn him back?
12:40Who dares to say to him,
12:42What are you doing?
12:44God does not restrain his anger.
12:47Under him the helpers of Rahab lie crushed.
12:51How much less, then, can I answer him
12:54and choose my words to argue with him?
12:59Even though I am innocent, I could not answer him.
13:02I could only plead with my judge for mercy.
13:05If I summoned him and he answered me,
13:08I would not believe that he would be listening to my voice.
13:11He who crushes me with a tempest
13:14and multiplies my wounds for no reason.
13:18He does not allow me to recover my breath,
13:20for he fills me with bitterness.
13:24If it is a matter of strength,
13:26most certainly he is the strong one.
13:29If it is a matter of justice, he will say,
13:32Who will summon me?
13:34Although I am innocent,
13:36my mouth would condemn me.
13:38Although I am blameless,
13:40it would declare me perverse.
13:44I am blameless, I do not know myself.
13:47I despise my life.
13:50It is all one.
13:52That is why I say,
13:54He destroys the blameless and the guilty.
13:58If a scourge brings sudden death,
14:00he mocks at the despair of the innocent.
14:03If a land has been given into the hand of a wicked man,
14:07he covers the faces of his judges.
14:10If it is not he, then who is it?
14:13My days are swifter than a runner.
14:16They speed by without seeing happiness.
14:19They glide by like reedboats,
14:21like an eagle that swoops on its prey.
14:25If I say,
14:26I will forget my complaint,
14:28I will change my expression and be cheerful.
14:31I dread all my sufferings,
14:34for I know that you do not hold me blameless.
14:38If I am guilty,
14:39then why weary myself in vain?
14:43If I wash myself with snow water
14:45and make my hands clean with lye,
14:48then you plunge me into a slimy pit
14:51and my own clothes abhor me.
14:54For he is not a human being like I am,
14:57that I might answer him,
14:59that we might come together in judgment.
15:02Nor is there an arbiter between us
15:04who might lay his hand on us both,
15:07who would take his rod away from me,
15:09that his terror would not make me afraid.
15:13Then I would speak and not fear him.
15:16But it is not so with me.
15:20This is the word of the Lord.
15:23Thanks be to God.
17:00The Second Epistle of St John
17:05I, a ruler in the Church,
17:07send word to the noble sister
17:09who is of God's selection
17:11and her children,
17:12for whom I have true love.
17:15Not only I, but all
17:17who have knowledge of what is true,
17:19because of this true knowledge
17:21which is in us
17:22and will be with us forever.
17:26May grace, mercy and peace
17:28be with us from God the Father
17:30and from Jesus Christ the Son of the Father
17:33in all true love.
17:37It gave me great joy to see
17:38some of your children walking
17:40in the true way,
17:41even as we were ordered to do
17:43by the Father.
17:45Now, my sister,
17:46I make a request to you,
17:48not by sending you a new law,
17:50but the law which we had
17:52from the very first,
17:53that we have love for one another.
17:56Love is in the keeping of his laws.
17:59This is the law which was given to you
18:01from the first,
18:02that you might keep it,
18:04because a number of false teachers
18:06have gone out into the world
18:08who do not give witness
18:09that Jesus Christ came in the flesh.
18:13Such a one is a false teacher
18:15and antichrist.
18:18Keep watch over yourselves
18:19that you do not make our work
18:22of no effect,
18:23but may get your full reward.
18:26Anyone who goes on
18:27and does not keep to the teaching
18:29of Christ has not God.
18:31He who keeps to the teaching
18:33has the Father and the Son.
18:36If anyone comes to you
18:37not having this teaching,
18:39do not take him into your house
18:41or give him words of love.
18:43For he who gives him words of love
18:46has a part in his evil works.
18:51Having much to say to you,
18:52it is not my purpose
18:54to put it all down
18:55with paper and ink,
18:56but I am hoping to come to you
18:58and to have talk with you
19:00face to face,
19:01that your joy may be full.
19:04The children of your navel sister,
19:06who is of God's selection,
19:08send you their love.
19:11This is the word of the Lord.
19:14Thanks be to God.
19:25Now, according to your word,
19:28Sovereign Lord,
19:29permit your servant
19:30to depart in peace.
19:32For my eyes have seen
19:34your salvation
19:35that you have prepared
19:37in the presence of all peoples,
19:40a light for revelation
19:41to the Gentiles
19:43and for glory
19:44to your people Israel.
19:48Glory be to the Father
19:49and to the Son
19:50and to the Holy Spirit,
19:52as it was in the beginning,
19:54is now and ever shall be,
19:56world without end.
19:58Amen.
20:03I believe in God,
20:05the Father Almighty,
20:07maker of heaven and earth,
20:09and in Jesus Christ,
20:11his only Son,
20:11our Lord,
20:13who was conceived
20:14by the Holy Spirit,
20:16born of the Virgin Mary,
20:18suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
20:21was crucified,
20:23dead,
20:24and buried.
20:25He descended into hell.
20:26On the third day
20:28he rose again
20:29from the dead.
20:31He ascended into heaven
20:33and is sitting
20:34at the right hand
20:35of God the Father Almighty.
20:38From there he shall come
20:39to judge the living
20:40and the dead.
20:42I believe in the Holy Spirit,
20:45the Holy Catholic Church,
20:46the communion of saints,
20:48the forgiveness of sins,
20:51the resurrection of the body,
20:53and the life everlasting.
20:55Amen.
21:01The Lord be with you
21:04and with your spirit.
21:08Let us pray.
21:11Lord, have mercy upon us.
21:15Christ, have mercy upon us.
21:19Lord, have mercy upon us.
21:26Our Father,
21:27who is in heaven,
21:29holy is your name.
21:32May your kingdom come.
21:34May your will be done
21:36on earth as it is in heaven.
21:39Give us this day
21:40our daily bread.
21:42Forgive us our trespasses,
21:43as we forgive those
21:45who trespass against us.
21:48Lead us not into temptation,
21:50but deliver us from evil.
21:53For yours is the kingdom,
21:56the power and the glory,
21:58for ever and ever.
22:01Amen.
22:06O Lord,
22:07show your mercy upon us,
22:09and grant us
22:11your salvation.
22:14Protect and guide
22:16those in authority
22:17over us,
22:19and mercifully hear us
22:21when we call upon you.
22:25Endue your ministers
22:26with righteousness,
22:28and make your chosen people
22:31joyful.
22:33O Lord, save your people,
22:37and bless your inheritance.
22:42Give peace in our time,
22:44O Lord,
22:45because there is none other
22:47who fights for us
22:48but only you,
22:50O God.
22:52O God,
22:53make clean
22:54our hearts
22:55within us,
22:57and take not
22:58your Holy Spirit
22:59from us.
23:06Let us pray.
23:10O God,
23:11the protector
23:12of all that trust in you,
23:14without whom
23:14nothing is strong,
23:16nothing is holy,
23:18increase and multiply
23:19upon us your mercy,
23:22that you being
23:22our ruler and guide,
23:24we may so pass
23:25through things temporal,
23:27as we finally lose
23:28not the things eternal.
23:30Grant this,
23:32O Heavenly Father,
23:33for the Jesus Christ's sake,
23:35our Lord.
23:36Amen.
23:44O God,
23:46from whom all holy desires,
23:48all good counsels,
23:50and all just works
23:51proceed,
23:52give to your servants
23:54that peace
23:55which the world cannot give,
23:57that our hearts
23:59may be set to obey
24:00your commandments,
24:02and also that,
24:03which by you,
24:04we,
24:05being defended
24:06from the fear
24:07of our enemies,
24:08may pass our time
24:10in rest and quietness,
24:11through the merits
24:13of Jesus Christ,
24:15our Saviour.
24:16Amen.
24:21Lighten our darkness,
24:22we beseech you,
24:23O Lord,
24:24and by your great mercy
24:26defend us all
24:27from perils
24:29and dangers
24:29of this night.
24:31For the love
24:32of your only Son,
24:33our Saviour,
24:34Jesus Christ.
24:36Amen.
24:40Almighty God,
24:41who has given us grace
24:43at this time
24:43with one accord
24:44to make our common
24:46supplications to you,
24:48and promises
24:49that when two or three
24:50are gathered together
24:51in your name,
24:53you will grant
24:54their requests.
24:57Fulfill now,
24:58O Lord,
24:58the desires
24:59and petitions
25:00of your servants,
25:02as may be
25:03most beneficial
25:04for them,
25:06granting us
25:07in this world
25:07knowledge of your truth,
25:10and in the world
25:11to come
25:11life everlasting.
25:14Amen.
25:17With the grace
25:18of our Lord Jesus Christ,
25:20and the love of God,
25:21and the fellowship
25:22of the Holy Spirit,
25:24be with us all
25:25evermore.
25:26Amen.
