00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:03Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name.
03:14Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace,
03:24that they may be cleansed from all their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind, through Jesus Christ our
03:32Lord.
03:33Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
04:10Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
04:39as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
04:43world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 53
05:00Fools say to themselves, there is no God.
05:03They sin and commit evil deeds.
05:06None of them does what is right.
05:10God looks down from heaven at the human race,
05:13to see if there is anyone who is wise, and seeks God.
05:18Everyone rejects God.
05:20They are all morally corrupt.
05:23None of them does what is right.
05:25Not even one.
05:28All those who behave wickedly do not understand.
05:31Those who devour my people, as if they were eating bread,
05:36and do not call out to God.
05:39They are absolutely terrified,
05:42even by things that do not normally cause fear.
05:46For God annihilates those who attack you.
05:49You are able to humiliate them,
05:52because God has rejected them.
05:55I wish the deliverance of Israel would come from Zion.
05:59When God restores the well-being of his people,
06:02may Jacob rejoice.
06:04May Israel be happy.
06:08Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
06:13as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
06:16world without end.
06:18Amen.
06:24Psalm 54
06:28O God, deliver me by your name.
06:31Vindicate me by your power.
06:34O God, listen to my prayer.
06:36Pay attention to what I say.
06:38For foreigners attack me.
06:41Ruthless men who do not respect God
06:43seek my life.
06:46Look, God is my deliverer.
06:49The Lord is among those who support me.
06:52May those who wait to ambush me
06:54be repaid for their evil.
06:57As a demonstration of your faithfulness,
06:59destroy them.
07:02With a freewill offering,
07:03I will sacrifice to you.
07:06I will give thanks to your name, O Lord,
07:08for it is good.
07:11Surely he rescues me from all trouble.
07:15And I triumph over my enemies.
07:19Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
07:24as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
07:28world without end.
07:30Amen.
07:34Psalm 55
07:38Listen, O God, to my prayer.
07:41Do not ignore my appeal for mercy.
07:44Pay attention to me and answer me.
07:47I am upset and distressed.
07:49I am beside myself because of what the enemy says,
07:53and of how they wicked pressure me.
07:57For they hurl trouble down upon me
08:00and angrily attack me.
08:03My heart beats violently within me.
08:06The horrors of death overcome me.
08:10Fear and panic overpower me.
08:12Terror overwhelms me.
08:16I say, I wish I had wings like a dove.
08:19I would fly away and settle in a safe place.
08:24Look, I will escape to a distant place.
08:27I will stay in the wilderness.
08:30I will hurry off to a place that is safe
08:33from the strong wind and the gale.
08:38Confuse them, O Lord.
08:40Frustrate their plans,
08:41for I see violence and conflict in the city.
08:45Day and night, they walk around its walls,
08:48while wickedness and destruction are within it.
08:53Disaster is within it.
08:55Violence and deceit do not depart
08:57from its public square.
09:00Indeed, it is not an enemy who insults me
09:03or else I could bear it.
09:05It is not one who hates me arrogantly
09:07who taunts me,
09:09or else I could hide from him.
09:13But it is you, a man like me,
09:15my close friend in whom I confided.
09:20We would share personal thoughts with each other.
09:24In God's temple,
09:25we would walk together among the crowd.
09:29May death destroy them.
09:31May they go down alive in shale,
09:33for evil is their dwelling place
09:35and in their midst.
09:38As for me,
09:39I will call out to the Lord
09:41and the Lord will deliver me.
09:44During the evening, morning and the noontime,
09:47I will lament and moan
09:48and he will hear me.
09:51He will rescue me and protect me
09:53from those who attack me,
09:55even though they greatly outnumber me.
09:59God, the one who has reigned as king
10:02from long ago,
10:03will hear and humiliate them.
10:06They refuse to change
10:08and do not fear God.
10:11He attacks them,
10:12he breaks his solemn promises to them.
10:16His words are as smooth as butter,
10:19but he harbors animosity in his heart.
10:23His words seem softer than oil,
10:25but they are really like sharp swords.
10:30Throw your burden upon the Lord
10:32and he will sustain you.
10:35He will never allow the godly to be shaken.
10:39But you, O Lord,
10:40will bring them down to the deep pit.
10:44Violent and deceitful people
10:45will not live even half a normal lifespan.
10:50But as for me,
10:52I trust in you.
10:54Glory be to the Father
10:56and to the Son
10:57and to the Holy Spirit,
10:59as it was in the beginning,
11:01is now and ever shall be,
11:03world without end.
11:05Amen.
11:14The second book of Chronicles,
11:16chapter 30.
11:19King Hezekiah sent messages
11:21throughout Israel and Judah.
11:24He even wrote letters to Ephraim and Manasseh,
11:27summoning them
11:28to come to the Lord's Temple in Jerusalem
11:30and observe a Passover celebration
11:33for the Lord God of Israel.
11:36The King,
11:37his officials
11:38and the entire assembly in Jerusalem
11:40decided to observe the Passover
11:43in the second month.
11:45They were unable to observe it
11:47at the regular time
11:48because not enough priests
11:50had consecrated themselves
11:52and the people
11:53had not assembled in Jerusalem.
11:56and so the proposal
11:57seemed appropriate
11:58to the King
11:59and the entire assembly.
12:03So they sent an edict
12:05throughout Israel,
12:06from Beersheba to Dan,
12:09summoning people to come
12:10and observe a Passover
12:11for the Lord God of Israel
12:13in Jerusalem,
12:15for they had not observed it
12:17on a nationwide scale
12:18as prescribed in the law.
12:23Messengers delivered the letters
12:24from the King
12:25and his officials
12:26throughout Israel
12:27and Judah.
12:30The edict read,
12:33O Israelites,
12:35return to the Lord God
12:36of Abraham,
12:37Isaac and Israel,
12:38so that he may return to you
12:41who have been spared
12:42from the kings of Assyria.
12:45Do not be like your fathers
12:47and brothers
12:47who were unfaithful
12:48to the Lord God
12:49of their ancestors,
12:51provoking him
12:52to destroy them
12:53as you can see.
12:56Now don't be stubborn
12:57like your fathers.
12:59Submit to the Lord
13:00and come to his sanctuary
13:02which he has permanently consecrated.
13:06Serve the Lord your God
13:08so that he might relent
13:10from his raging anger.
13:13For if you return to the Lord,
13:15your brothers and sons
13:17will be shown mercy
13:18by their captors
13:19and return to the land.
13:21The Lord your God
13:23is merciful and compassionate.
13:25He will not reject you
13:27if you return to him.
13:32The messengers journeyed
13:34from city to city
13:35throughout the land
13:36of Ephraim and Manasseh
13:37as far as Zebulun
13:39but people mocked
13:41and ridiculed them.
13:43But some men
13:45from Asher,
13:46Manasseh
13:47and Zebulun
13:48humbled themselves
13:49and came to Jerusalem.
13:52In Judah,
13:53God moved the people
13:54to unite
13:55and carry out
13:55the edict
13:56that the king
13:57and the officers
13:58had issued
13:58of the Lord's command.
14:01A huge crowd
14:02assembled in Jerusalem
14:03to observe
14:04the feast
14:04of the unleavened bread
14:06in the second month.
14:08They removed
14:09the altars
14:10in Jerusalem.
14:11They also removed
14:12all the incense altars
14:13and threw them
14:14into the Kidron Valley.
14:17They slaughtered
14:19the Passover lamb
14:20on the fourteenth day
14:21of the second month.
14:23The priests
14:24and Levites
14:24were ashamed
14:25so they consecrated
14:26themselves
14:27and brought
14:28burnt sacrifices
14:29to the Lord's table.
14:31They stood
14:32at their posts
14:33according to the regulations
14:34given in the law
14:35of Moses,
14:36the man of God.
14:38The priests
14:40were splashing
14:40the blood
14:41as the Levites
14:42handed it to them.
14:45Because many
14:46in the assembly
14:47had not consecrated
14:48themselves,
14:49the Levites
14:50slaughtered
14:50the Passover lambs
14:51of all
14:52who were ceremonially
14:53unclean
14:54and could not
14:55consecrate
14:56their sacrifice
14:57to the Lord.
14:59The majority
15:01of the many people
15:02from Ephraim,
15:03Manasseh,
15:04Issachar
15:04and Zebulun
15:05were ceremonially
15:07unclean
15:07and yet
15:09they ate
15:09the Passover
15:10in violation
15:11of what is
15:12prescribed
15:13in the law.
15:15For Hezekiah
15:16prayed for them
15:17saying,
15:18May the Lord
15:19who is good
15:20forgive anyone
15:21who has determined
15:22to follow God,
15:23the Lord God
15:24of his ancestors,
15:26even if he is
15:27not ceremonially
15:29clean according
15:30to the standards
15:30of the temple.
15:33The Lord
15:34responded
15:34favourably
15:35to Hezekiah
15:36and forgave
15:37the people.
15:40the Israelites
15:41who were in Jerusalem
15:42observed the feast
15:43of the unleavened bread
15:44for seven days
15:45with great joy.
15:48The Levites
15:49and the priests
15:50were praising God
15:51every day
15:51with all their might.
15:55Hezekiah
15:55expressed his appreciation
15:57to all the Levites
15:58who had demonstrated
16:00great skill
16:01in serving the Lord.
16:03they feasted
16:04for the seven days
16:05of the festival
16:05and were making
16:07peace offerings
16:07and giving thanks
16:08to the Lord God
16:09of their ancestors.
16:12The entire assembly
16:14then decided
16:14to celebrate
16:15for seven more days
16:17and so they joyfully
16:18celebrated
16:19for seven more days.
16:22King Hezekiah
16:23of Judah
16:23supplied
16:241,000 bulls
16:26and 7,000 sheep
16:27for the assembly
16:28while the officials
16:30supplied them
16:31with 1,000 bulls
16:32and 10,000 sheep.
16:35Many priests
16:37consecrated themselves.
16:39The celebration
16:41included
16:41the entire assembly
16:42of Judah
16:43the priests
16:44the Levites
16:45and all those
16:46who came from Israel
16:48the resident foreigners
16:50who came from
16:50the land of Israel
16:51and the residents
16:53of Judah.
16:55There was a great
16:57celebration in Jerusalem
16:58quite unlike anything
17:00that had occurred
17:00in Jerusalem
17:01since the time
17:03of Solomon
17:03king
17:05son of
17:06David of Israel.
17:10The priests
17:11and Levites
17:12got up
17:12and pronounced
17:14blessings
17:14on the people.
17:16the Lord
17:17responded
17:18favorably
17:19to them
17:19as their prayers
17:21reached
17:21his holy dwelling place
17:23in heaven.
17:25This is the word
17:26of the Lord.
17:28Thanks be to God.
17:43Mary said
17:44my soul
17:46exalts the Lord
17:47and my spirit
17:49has begun
17:49to rejoice
17:50in God
17:50my Savior
17:52because he
17:53has looked
17:53upon the humble
17:54state
17:55of his servant.
17:57for from now
17:59on
17:59all generations
18:00will call me
18:01blessed
18:01because he
18:03who is mighty
18:03has done great
18:05things for me
18:05and holy
18:07is his name.
18:09From generation
18:10to generation
18:11he is merciful
18:12to those
18:13who fear him.
18:15He has demonstrated
18:16power
18:17with his arm.
18:18He has scattered
18:19those whose pride
18:21wells up
18:21from the sheer
18:22arrogance
18:22of their hearts.
18:24He has brought
18:25down the mighty
18:26from their thrones
18:27and has lifted
18:28up those
18:29of lowly position.
18:31He has filled
18:32the hungry
18:33with good things
18:34and has sent
18:35the rich
18:35away empty.
18:37He has helped
18:38his servant Israel
18:40remembering
18:41his mercy
18:42as he promised
18:43to our ancestors
18:44to Abraham
18:46and to his
18:47descendants
18:48forever.
18:50Glory be
18:51to the Father
18:52and to the Son
18:53and to the Holy Spirit
18:54as it was
18:56in the beginning
18:57is now
18:58and ever shall be
18:59world without end.
19:01Amen.
19:11The Epistle
19:12of St. James
19:13Chapter 2
19:16My brothers
19:17and sisters
19:18do not show
19:19prejudice
19:19if you possess
19:20faith in our
19:21glorious Lord
19:22Jesus Christ
19:23for if someone
19:24comes into your
19:25assembly
19:26wearing a gold
19:27ring and fine
19:28clothing
19:28and a poor
19:29person enters
19:30in filthy clothes
19:31do you pay
19:33attention to the
19:33one who is
19:34finely dressed
19:35and say
19:35sit here
19:37in a good
19:38place
19:38and to the
19:39poor person
19:40you stand
19:41over there
19:42or sit
19:43on the floor
19:45if so
19:46have you not
19:47made distinctions
19:48amongst yourselves
19:48and become judges
19:49with evil motives
19:53listen
19:53my dear brothers
19:54and sisters
19:55did God
19:56not choose
19:56the poor
19:57in the world
19:57to be rich
19:58in faith
19:59and heirs
20:00of the kingdom
20:00that he promised
20:01to those
20:02who love him
20:04you have
20:05dishonoured
20:06the poor
20:07are not
20:07the rich
20:08oppressing you
20:09and dragging you
20:10into the courts
20:11do they not
20:12blaspheme
20:13the good name
20:13of the one
20:14you belong to
20:17if you
20:18fulfil the royal
20:19law as expressed
20:20in this scripture
20:22you shall love
20:23your neighbour
20:23as yourself
20:26you are doing
20:27well
20:27but if you
20:28show prejudice
20:29you are committing
20:30sin
20:30and are convicted
20:32by the law
20:33as violators
20:34for the one
20:35who obeys
20:36the whole law
20:36but fails
20:37in one point
20:38becomes guilty
20:39of all of it
20:44he who said
20:46do not commit adultery
20:47also said
20:49do not murder
20:51now if you
20:52do not commit adultery
20:53but do commit a murder
20:54you have become
20:56a violator
20:57of the law
20:59so speak and act
21:01as those who will be judged
21:02by a law
21:02that gives freedom
21:04for judgment
21:05is merciless
21:06for the one
21:06who has shown
21:07no mercy
21:09but mercy
21:10triumphs
21:11over judgment
21:15what good is it
21:16brothers and sisters
21:17if someone claims
21:19to have faith
21:19but does not have
21:21the works
21:22can this kind
21:23of faith
21:24save him
21:27if a brother
21:28and sister
21:28is poorly clothed
21:30and lacks
21:30daily food
21:31and one of you
21:31says to them
21:33go in peace
21:34keep warm
21:35and eat well
21:36but you do not
21:37give them
21:38what their body
21:38needs
21:39what good
21:39is it
21:41so also faith
21:42if it does not
21:44have works
21:44is dead
21:45by itself
21:48but someone
21:49will say
21:49you have faith
21:51and I have works
21:52show me your faith
21:53without works
21:54and I will show you
21:55faith
21:56by my works
21:59you believe
22:00that God
22:00is one
22:01well and good
22:02but even the demons
22:04believe that
22:05and tremble
22:05with fear
22:09would you like
22:10evidence
22:11you empty
22:12person
22:12that faith
22:13without works
22:14is useless
22:16was not Abraham
22:18our father
22:19justified
22:19by works
22:20when he offered
22:21Isaac his son
22:22on the altar
22:24his faith
22:25was working
22:26together
22:26with his works
22:27and his faith
22:28was perfected
22:29by his works
22:32the scripture
22:33was fulfilled
22:34that says
22:35now Abraham
22:36believed God
22:37and it was
22:37counted to him
22:38for righteousness
22:40and he was
22:41called
22:42God's friend
22:44you see
22:45that a person
22:46is justified
22:46by works
22:47and not
22:48by faith
22:49alone
22:51similarly
22:51was not
22:52Rahab
22:53the prostitute
22:54also justified
22:55by works
22:56when she welcomed
22:57the messengers
22:58and sent them
22:59out by another way
23:02just as the body
23:03without spirit
23:04is dead
23:04so also faith
23:06without works
23:07is dead
23:09this is the words
