00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts. I am forever conscious of my sin. Hide your face from my
00:41sins. Wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:02Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart, to the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his
01:31infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands, to give him most worthy praise, to
01:52hear his most holy word,
01:54and to ask those things which are truly necessary, as well for the body as the soul.
02:03Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:10voice, to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together,
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:45But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind, in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace,
03:24that they may be cleansed from all their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind, through Jesus Christ our
03:32Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
04:39as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
04:43world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
04:56Psalm 32
05:00How blessed is the one whose rebellious acts are forgiven,
05:04whose sin is pardoned,
05:07How blessed is the one whose wrongdoing the Lord does not punish,
05:11in whose spirit there is no deceit.
05:15When I refused to confess my sin,
05:17my whole body wasted away while I groaned in pain all day long.
05:23For day and night you tormented me.
05:26You tried to destroy me in the intense heat of summer.
05:30Then I confessed my sin.
05:32I no longer covered up my wrongdoing.
05:35I will confess my rebellious acts to the Lord.
05:39And then you forgave my sins.
05:43For this reason, every one of your faithful followers
05:46should pray to you while there is a window of opportunity.
05:51Suddenly, when the searching water rises,
05:53it will not reach them.
05:56You are my hiding place.
05:59You protect me from distress.
06:02You surround me with shouts of joy from those celebrating deliverance.
06:08I will instruct and teach you about how you should live.
06:12I will advise you as I look you in the eye.
06:16Do not be like an unintelligent horse or mule,
06:20which will not obey you unless they are controlled by a riddle and pit.
06:27An evil person suffers much pain,
06:30but the Lord's faithfulness overwhelms the one who trusts in him.
06:36Rejoice in the Lord and be happy, you who are godly.
06:40Shout for joy, all you who are morally upright.
06:45Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
06:49as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
06:54world without end.
06:56Amen.
06:59Psalm 33
07:02You godly ones, shout for joy because of the Lord.
07:06It is appropriate for the morally upright to offer him praise.
07:12Give thanks to the Lord with the heart.
07:15Sing to him to the accompaniment of a ten-stringed instrument.
07:19Sing to him a new song.
07:22Play skillfully as you shout out your praises to him.
07:26For the Lord's decrees are just, and everything he does is fair.
07:32He promotes equity and justice.
07:34The Lord's faithfulness extends throughout the earth.
07:39By the Lord's decree the heavens were made,
07:42and by the breath of his mouth form the starry hosts.
07:46He piles up the water of the sea.
07:49He puts the oceans into storehouses.
07:53Let the whole earth fear the Lord.
07:55Let all who live in the world stand in awe of him.
08:00For he spoke, and it came into existence.
08:03He issued a decree, and it stood firm.
08:06The Lord frustrates the decisions of the nations.
08:11He nullifies the plans of the peoples.
08:14The Lord's decisions stand forever.
08:17His plans abide throughout the ages.
08:22A blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
08:25the people whom he has chosen to be his special possession.
08:30The Lord watches from heaven.
08:32He sees all people.
08:35From the place where he lives, he looks carefully at all the earth's inhabitants.
08:40He is the one who forms every human heart and takes note of all their actions.
08:47No king is delivered by his vast army.
08:50A warrior is not saved by his great might.
08:54A horse disappoints those who trust in it for victory.
08:57Despite his great strength, it cannot deliver.
09:03Look, the Lord takes notice of his loyal followers,
09:06those who wait for him to demonstrate his faithfulness
09:10by saving their lives from death and sustaining them during times of famine.
09:15We wait for the Lord.
09:17He is our deliverer and shield.
09:21For our hearts rejoice in him.
09:23For we trust in his holy name.
09:26May we experience your faithfulness, O Lord.
09:30For we wait for you.
09:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
09:37As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.
09:41World without end.
09:43Amen.
09:47Psalm 34
09:49I will praise the Lord at all times.
09:52My mouth will continually praise him.
09:55I will boast in the Lord.
09:57Let the oppressed hear and rejoice.
10:01Magnify the Lord with me.
10:03Let's praise his name together.
10:06I sought the Lord's help, and he answered me.
10:09He delivered me from all my fears.
10:13Look to him and be radiant.
10:15Do not let your faces be ashamed.
10:18The oppressed man cried out, and the Lord heard.
10:21He saved him from all his troubles.
10:25The Lord's angel camps around the Lord's loyal followers, and delivers them.
10:31Taste and see that the Lord is good.
10:33How blessed is the one who takes shelter in him.
10:37Fear the Lord, you chosen people of his.
10:40For those who fear him lack nothing.
10:44Even young lions sometimes lack food and are hungry.
10:48But those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
10:52Come, children, listen to me.
10:54I will teach you what it means to fear the Lord.
10:58Do you want to really live?
11:01Would you love to live a long and happy life?
11:04Then make sure you don't speak evil words or use deceptive speech.
11:10Turn away from evil and do what is right.
11:12Strive for peace and promote it.
11:15The Lord pays attention to the godly and hears their cry for help.
11:20But the Lord opposes evildoers and wipes out all memory of them from the earth.
11:27The godly cry out and the Lord hears.
11:30He saves them from all their troubles.
11:33The Lord is near the brokenhearted.
11:36He delivers those who are discouraged.
11:39The godly face many dangers, but the Lord saves them from each one of them.
11:45He protects all his bones, and not one of them is broken.
11:50Evil people self-destruct.
11:52Those who make the godly are punished.
11:55The Lord rescues his servants.
11:58All of those who take shelter in him escape punishment.
12:03Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
12:07As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.
12:11World without end.
12:13Amen.
12:20The second book of Chronicles, chapter 22.
12:27The residents of Jerusalem made his youngest son, Ahaziah king in his place.
12:32For the raiding party that invaded the city with the Arabs had killed all the older sons.
12:39So, Ahaziah son of Jehoram became king of Judah.
12:44Ahaziah was 22 years old when he became king, and he reigned for one year in Jerusalem.
12:52His mother was Athaliah, the grand-daughter of Omri.
12:57He followed in the footsteps of Ahab's dynasty.
13:01For his mother gave him evil advice, and he did evil in the sight of the Lord, like Ahab's dynasty.
13:09Because after his father's death, they gave him advice that led to his destruction.
13:16He followed their advice and joined Ahab's son, king Joram of Israel, in a battle against king Hazael of Syria
13:24at Ramoth-Gilead, in which the Syrians defeated Joram.
13:31Joram returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds he received from the Syrians in Ramoth-Gilead, when he fought
13:38against king Hazael of Syria.
13:44Ahaziah, son of king Jehoram of Judah, went down to visit Joram, king of Ahab, in Jezreel, because he had
13:52been wounded.
13:57God brought about Ahaziah's downfall through his visit to Joram.
14:02When Ahaziah arrived, he went out with Joram to meet Jehu, son of Nimshi, whom the Lord had commissioned to
14:11wipe out Ahab's family.
14:16While Jehu was distributing punishment to Ahab's family, he discovered the officials of Judah and the sons of Ahaziah's relatives,
14:26who were serving Ahaziah, and killed them.
14:30He looked for Ahaziah, who was captured while hiding in Samaria, and they brought him to Jehu, and then executed
14:37him.
14:40They did give him a burial, for they reasoned, he is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought the Lord with
14:47his whole heart.
14:50There was no one in Ahaziah's family strong enough to rule in his place.
14:57When Athaliah, the mother of Ahaziah, saw that her son was dead, she became determined to destroy the entire royal
15:05line of Judah.
15:07And so Jehosh Sheherbath, the daughter of king Jehoram, took Ahaziah's son, Jehosh,
15:15and hid him away from the rest of the royal descendants, who were to be executed.
15:22She hid him and his nurse in the room where the bed covers were stored.
15:29So Jehosh Sheherbath, the daughter of king Jehoram, wife of Jehoiada the priest, and sister of Ahaziah,
15:38hid him from Athaliah so that she could not execute him.
15:43He remained hiding in God's temple for six years, while Athaliah was ruling over the lamp.
15:51This is the word of the Lord.
15:55Thanks be to God.
16:12Mary said,
16:13My soul exalts the Lord, and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
16:20because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
16:26For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
16:30because he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
16:37From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
16:43He has demonstrated power with his arm.
16:47He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
16:53He has brought down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up those of lowly position.
17:00He has filled the hungry with good things, and has sent the rich away empty.
17:06He has helped his servant Israel, remembering his mercy,
17:11as he promised to our ancestors, to Abraham, and to his descendants for ever.
17:19Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
17:23as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
17:30Amen.
17:40The Epistle to the Hebrews, Chapter 11
17:46By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac.
17:51He had received the promises, yet he was ready to offer up his only son.
17:57God had told him, through Isaac, descendants will carry on your name.
18:03And he reasoned that God could raise him, even from the dead.
18:08And in a sense, he received him back from there.
18:13By faith also, Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning the future.
18:18By faith Jacob, as he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph,
18:23and worshipped as he leant upon his staff.
18:28By faith Joseph, at the end of his life, mentioned the exodus of the sons of Israel,
18:34and gave instructions about his burial.
18:39By faith, when Moses was born, his parents hid him for three months,
18:43because they saw the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king's edict.
18:50By faith, when he grew up, Moses refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter,
18:57choosing rather to be ill-treated with the people of God,
19:00than to enjoy sin's fleeting pleasures.
19:04He regarded abuse suffered for Christ to be greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt,
19:10for his eyes were fixed on the reward.
19:14By faith, he left Egypt without fearing the king's anger,
19:19for he persevered as though he could see the one who was invisible.
19:24By faith, he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of the blood,
19:29so that the one who destroyed the firstborn would not touch them.
19:34By faith, they crossed the Red Sea as if on dry ground,
19:38but when the Egyptians tried it, they were swallowed up.
19:43By faith, the walls of Jericho fell after the people marched around them for seven days.
19:50By faith, Rahab the prostitute escaped the destruction of the disobedient,
19:56because she welcomed the spies in peace.
20:01What more should I say?
20:04For time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel and the prophets.
20:13Through faith, they conquered kingdoms, administered justice,
20:18gained what was promised, shut the mouths of lions, quenched raging fire,
20:24escaped the sword and gained strength in weakness,
20:28becoming mighty in battle, putting foreign armies to flight,
20:32and women received back the dead raised to life.
20:38But others were tortured, not accepting release,
20:42to obtain resurrection to a better life.
20:45Others experienced mocking and flogging,
20:49even chains and imprisonment.
20:51They were stoned, sawn apart, murdered with the sword.
20:56They went about in sheepskins and goatskins.
20:59They were destitute, afflicted, ill-treated,
21:03that the world was not worthy of them.
21:06They wandered in deserts and mountains,
21:09caves and openings in the earth.
21:12These were all commended for their faith,
21:14and yet they did not receive what was promised.
21:17For God had provided something better for us,
21:20so that they would be made perfect together with us.
21:26This is the word of the Lord.
21:28Thanks be to God.
21:42Now according to your word, Sovereign Lord,
21:46permit your servant to depart in peace.
21:50For my eyes have seen your salvation,
21:52that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
21:57a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
22:00and for glory to your people Israel.
22:05Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
22:08and to the Holy Spirit,
22:09as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
22:14world without end.
22:15Amen.
22:21I believe in God the Father Almighty,
22:25maker of heaven and earth,
22:26and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
22:30who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
22:33born of the Virgin Mary,
22:35suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
22:38was crucified, dead, and buried.
22:41He descended into hell.
22:44On the third day he rose again from the dead.
22:48He ascended into heaven,
22:50and is sitting at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
22:55From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
22:59I believe in the Holy Spirit,
23:02the Holy Catholic Church,
23:04the communion of saints,
23:05the forgiveness of sins,
23:07the resurrection of the body,
23:10and the life everlasting.
23:12Amen.
23:18The Lord be with you,
23:21and with your spirit.
23:25Let us pray.
23:28Lord, have mercy upon us.
23:32Christ, have mercy upon us.
23:36Lord, have mercy upon us.
23:43Our Father, who is in heaven,
23:46holy is your name.
23:49May your kingdom come.
23:51May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
23:56Give us this day our daily bread.
23:58Forgive us our trespasses,
24:01as we forgive those who trespass against us.
24:05Lead us not into temptation,
24:07but deliver us from evil.
24:10For yours is the kingdom,
24:13the power and the glory,
24:15for ever and ever.
24:18Amen.
24:23O Lord, show your mercy upon us,
24:26and grant us your salvation.
24:31Protect and guide those in authority over us,
24:36and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
24:42Endure your ministers with righteousness,
24:45and make your chosen people joyful.
24:50O Lord, save your people,
24:54and bless your inheritance.
24:59Give peace in our time,
25:01O Lord,
25:03because there is none other who fights for us,
25:05but only you, O God.
25:09O God, make clean our hearts within us,
25:14and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
25:26Let us pray.
25:29O God, the strength of all who put their trust in you,
25:34mercifully accept our prayers,
25:37and because through the weakness of our mortal nature,
25:40we can do no good thing without you,
25:43grant us the help of your grace,
25:45that in keeping your commandments we may please you,
25:49both in will and deed.
25:52Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
25:55Amen.
26:03O God, from whom all holy desires,
26:08all good counsels, and all just works proceed,
26:11give to your servants that peace which the world cannot give,
26:17that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments,
26:21and also that, by you,
26:24we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
26:28may pass our time in rest and quietness.
26:32Through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour.
26:35Amen.
26:40Lighten our darkness, we beseech you, O Lord,
26:44and by your great mercy defend us all
26:47from perils and dangers of this night.
26:51For the love of your only Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
26:55Amen.
26:59Almighty God, who has given us grace at this time with one accord
27:04to make our common supplications to you
27:07and promises that when two or three are gathered together in your name,
27:12you will grant their requests.
27:16Fulfill now, O Lord,
27:18the desires and petitions of your servants
27:21as may be most beneficial for them,
27:25granting us in this world knowledge of your truth
27:29and in the world to come life everlasting.
27:33Amen.
27:37With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
27:39and the love of God
27:40and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
27:43be with us all evermore.
27:46Amen.
