00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:56Psalm 27
04:59The Lord delivers and vindicates me.
05:02I fear no one.
05:04The Lord protects my life.
05:06I am afraid of no one.
05:09When evil men attack me to devour my flesh,
05:12when my adversaries and enemies attack me, they stumble and fall.
05:18Even when an army is deployed against me, I do not fear.
05:22Even when war is imminent, I remain confident.
05:27I have asked the Lord for one thing.
05:30This is what I desire.
05:31I want to live in the Lord's house all the days of my life,
05:36so that I can gaze at the splendour of the Lord and contemplate in his temple.
05:42He will surely give me shelter in the day of danger.
05:46He will hide me in his home.
05:48He will place me on an inaccessible, rocky summit.
05:53Now I will triumph over my enemies who surround me.
05:56I will offer sacrifices in his dwelling place and shout for joy.
06:00I will sing praises to the Lord.
06:05Hear me, O Lord, when I cry out.
06:07Have mercy on me and answer me.
06:11My heart tells me to pray to you.
06:14And I do pray to you, O Lord.
06:18Do not reject me.
06:20Do not push your servant away in anger.
06:23You are my deliverer.
06:25Do not forsake nor abandon me,
06:27O God who vindicates me.
06:31Even if my father and mother abandoned me,
06:34the Lord would take me in.
06:36Teach me how you want me to live, O Lord.
06:39Lead me along a level path,
06:41because of those who wait to ambush me.
06:45Do not turn me over to my enemies,
06:47for false witnesses who want to destroy me testify against me.
06:54Where would I be if I did not believe I could experience the Lord's favour in the land of the
07:01living?
07:02Rely on the Lord.
07:04Rely on the Lord.
07:04Be strong and confident.
07:06Rely on the Lord.
07:08Glory be to the Father,
07:10and to the Son,
07:11and to the Holy Spirit,
07:13as it was in the beginning,
07:15now and ever shall be,
07:18world without end.
07:20Amen.
07:25To you, O Lord,
07:26I cry out.
07:27My protector,
07:29do not ignore me.
07:30If you do not respond to me,
07:32I will join those who are descending into the grave.
07:37Hear my plea for mercy when I cry out to you for help,
07:41when I lift my hands toward your holy temple.
07:45Do not drag me away with evil men,
07:48with those who behave wickedly,
07:50who talk in such a friendly to their neighbours,
07:54while they plan to harm them.
07:57Pay them back for their evil deeds.
08:00Pay them back for what they do.
08:02Punish them.
08:03For they do not understand the Lord's actions,
08:06or the way he carries out justice.
08:10The Lord will permanently demolish them.
08:14The Lord deserves praise,
08:16for he has heard my plea for mercy.
08:19The Lord strengthens and protects me.
08:22I trust in him with all my heart.
08:25I am rescued,
08:26and my heart is full of joy.
08:28I will sing to him in gratitude.
08:32The Lord strengthens his people.
08:34He protects and delivers his chosen king.
08:38Deliver your people.
08:40Empower the nation that belongs to you.
08:43Care for them like a shepherd,
08:45and carry them in your arms at all times.
08:48Glory be to the Father,
08:50and to the Son,
08:51and to the Holy Spirit,
08:53as it was in the beginning,
08:54is now, and ever shall be.
08:57World without end.
08:59Amen.
09:02Psalm 29
09:05Acknowledge the Lord,
09:07you heavenly beings.
09:08Acknowledge the Lord's majesty and power.
09:12Acknowledge the majesty of the Lord's reputation.
09:15Worship the Lord in holy attire.
09:19The Lord's shout is heard over the water.
09:22The majestic God thunders.
09:24The Lord appears over the surging water.
09:28The Lord's shout is powerful.
09:30The Lord's shout is majestic.
09:33The Lord's shout breaks the cedars.
09:35The Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon.
09:39He makes Lebanon skip like a calf,
09:42and Syrian like a young ox.
09:45The Lord's shout strikes with flaming fire.
09:49The Lord's shout wakes the wilderness.
09:52The Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
09:55The Lord's shout bends the large trees,
09:58and strips the leaves from the forest.
10:01Everyone in his temple says,
10:04Majestic.
10:05The Lord sits enthroned over the engulfing waters.
10:09The Lord sits enthroned as the eternal King.
10:13The Lord gives his people strength.
10:16The Lord grants his people security.
10:20Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
10:23and to the Holy Spirit,
10:24as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
10:29world without end.
10:31Amen.
10:37The Book of Job, Chapter 13
10:42Indeed, my eyes have seen all of this.
10:45My ears have heard, and understood it.
10:49What you know, I also know.
10:51I'm not inferior to you.
10:54But I wish to speak to the Almighty.
10:57I desire to argue my case with God.
11:00But you, however, are inventors of lies.
11:03All of you are worthless positions.
11:07If only you would keep completely silent.
11:10For you, that would be wisdom.
11:13Listen now to my argument,
11:15and be attentive to my lips' contention.
11:19Will you speak wickedly on God's behalf?
11:22Will you speak deceitfully for him?
11:25Will you show him partiality?
11:28Will you argue the case for God?
11:32Would it turn out well if he would examine you?
11:35Or as one deceives a man,
11:37would you deceive him?
11:40He would certainly rebuke you
11:42if you secretly showed partiality.
11:46Would not his splendour terrify you,
11:48and the fear he inspires fall upon you?
11:52Your maxims are proverbs of ashes.
11:56Your defences are defences of clay.
12:00Refrain from talking with me,
12:02that I may speak.
12:04Then let me come,
12:05what come to me, what may.
12:08Why do I put myself in peril,
12:10and take my life in my hands?
12:13Even if he slays me,
12:15I will hope in him.
12:17I will surely defend my ways to his face.
12:21Moreover, this will become my deliverance,
12:24for no godless person would come before him.
12:28Listen carefully to my words.
12:30Let your ears be attentive to my explanation.
12:34See now, I have prepared my case.
12:37I know that I am right.
12:40Who will contend with me?
12:42If anyone can, I will be silent and die.
12:47Only in two things spare me, O God,
12:50and then I will not hide from your face.
12:54Remove your hand far from me,
12:56and stop making me afraid with your terror.
13:00Then call,
13:01and I will answer,
13:03or I will speak,
13:04and you respond to me.
13:07How many are my iniquities and sins?
13:10Show me my transgression and sin.
13:14Why do you hide your face and regard me as your enemy?
13:18Do you wish to torment a wind-blown leaf,
13:21and chase after dry chaff?
13:24For you write down bitter things against me,
13:27and cause me to inherit the sins of my youth.
13:31You put my feet in the stocks,
13:33and you watch all my movements.
13:36You put marks on the soles of my feet,
13:39and so I waste away like something rotten,
13:42like a garment eaten by moths.
13:46This is the word of the Lord.
13:49Thanks be to God.
14:03Mary said,
14:04My soul exalts the Lord,
14:07and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
14:11because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
14:17For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
14:21because he who is mighty has done great things for me,
14:25and holy is his name.
14:28From generation to generation
14:30he is merciful to those who fear him.
14:34He has demonstrated power with his arm.
14:38He has scattered those whose pride wells up
14:41from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
14:44He has brought down the mighty from their thrones,
14:47and has lifted up those of lowly position.
14:51He has filled the hungry with good things,
14:54and has sent the rich away empty.
14:57He has helped his servant Israel,
15:00remembering his mercy,
15:02as he promised to our ancestors,
15:05to Abraham,
15:06and to his descendants for ever.
15:10Glory be to the Father,
15:12and to the Son,
15:13and to the Holy Spirit,
15:14as it was in the beginning,
15:17is now,
15:18and ever shall be,
15:19world without end.
15:21Amen.
15:29The Epistle of Saint Jude
15:32The Epistle of Saint Jude
15:34Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ,
15:36and the brother of James,
15:38to those of God's selection,
15:40who have been made holy by God the Father,
15:43and are kept safe for Jesus Christ,
15:46may mercy,
15:47peace,
15:48and love,
15:48be increased in you.
15:51My loved ones,
15:52while my thoughts were full of a letter,
15:54which I was going to send you,
15:55about our common salvation,
15:58it was necessary for me to send you one,
16:00requesting you with all my heart,
16:02to go on fighting strongly,
16:03for the faith,
16:04which has been given to the saints,
16:06once and for ever.
16:09Certain men have come among you secretly,
16:12marked out before in the holy writings,
16:15for this evil fate,
16:16men without the fear of God,
16:19turning his grace,
16:20into an unclean thing,
16:22and false to our only Master and Lord,
16:24Jesus Christ.
16:26Now it is my purpose to put you in mind,
16:29though you once had knowledge,
16:31of all these things,
16:32of how the Lord,
16:33having taken a people safely out of Egypt,
16:37later said destruction of those who had no faith,
16:40the angels who did not keep to their kingdom,
16:43but who went out from the place which was theirs,
16:47he has put in eternal chains,
16:49and in dark night,
16:50until the great day of the judging.
16:53Even as Sodom and Gomorrah,
16:56and the towns near them,
16:57having like these given themselves up,
17:00to unclean desires,
17:02and gone after strange flesh,
17:04have been made an example,
17:05undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.
17:10In the same way,
17:11these dreamers make the flesh unclean,
17:14having their respect for authorities,
17:16and say evil of rulers.
17:22When Michael,
17:23one of the chief angels,
17:24was fighting the evil one for the body of Moses,
17:27fearing to make use of violent words against him,
17:30he said,
17:31May the Lord be your judge.
17:34But these men say evil about such things,
17:38as they have no knowledge of.
17:40Things of which they have natural knowledge,
17:42like beasts without reason,
17:45are the cause of their destruction.
17:47A curse on them.
17:49They have gone the way of Cain,
17:51running uncontrolled into the error of Balaam for reward,
17:55and have come to destruction by saying evil against the Lord,
17:59like Korah.
18:01These men are unseen rocks at your love feasts,
18:05when they take part in them with you.
18:08Keepers of sheep,
18:09who without fear take the food of the sheep.
18:13Clouds without water,
18:14rushing before the wind.
18:17Wasted trees without fruit,
18:19twice dead,
18:20pulled up by the roots.
18:22Violent waves of the sea,
18:24streaming with their shame.
18:27Wandering stars,
18:28for whom the darkest night is kept in store forever.
18:33The prophet Enoch,
18:35who was the seventh after Adam,
18:37said of these men,
18:39The Lord came with tens of thousands of his saints,
18:42to be the judge of all,
18:44and to give a decision against all those
18:46whose lives are unpleasing to him,
18:48because of the evil they have done,
18:51and because of all the hard things
18:53which sinners without fear of God
18:55have said against him.
18:57These are the men who make trouble,
19:00ever desiring change,
19:02going after evil pleasures,
19:05using high-sounding words,
19:07and respecting men's position
19:09in the hope of reward.
19:12You, my loved ones,
19:14keep in memory the words
19:15which were said before by the apostles
19:17of our Lord Jesus Christ,
19:20how they said to you,
19:22In the last days there will be men
19:24who, guided by evil desires,
19:26will make sport of holy things.
19:29These are the men who make divisions,
19:33natural men,
19:34not having the Spirit.
19:36But you, my beloved ones,
19:38building yourselves up
19:39on your most holy faith,
19:41and making prayers in the Holy Spirit,
19:43keep yourselves in the love of Christ,
19:46looking for life eternal
19:48through the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ.
19:52Have pity on those who are in doubt.
19:55To some give salvation,
19:57pulling them out of the fire.
19:59On some have mercy with fear,
20:02hating even the clothing
20:03which is made unclean by the flesh.
20:08Now to him who is able to keep you from falling,
20:11and to give you a place in his glory,
20:13free from all evil,
20:15with great joy,
20:17to the only God our Saviour,
20:19through Jesus Christ our Lord,
20:21let us give glory,
20:23honour,
20:24authority,
20:24and power,
20:26before all time,
20:28now,
20:28and for ever.
20:30So be it.
20:32This is the word of the Lord.
20:35Thanks be to God.
20:49Now according to your word,
20:51Sovereign Lord,
20:52permit your servant
20:53to depart in peace.
20:55For my eyes have seen your salvation
20:58that you have prepared
21:00in the presence of all peoples,
21:03a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
21:06and for glory to your people Israel.
21:11Glory be to the Father,
21:13and to the Son,
21:14and to the Holy Spirit,
21:16as it was in the beginning,
21:17is now,
21:18and ever shall be,
21:19world without end.
21:22Amen.
21:27I believe in God,
21:29the Father Almighty,
21:30maker of heaven and earth,
21:32and in Jesus Christ,
21:34his only Son,
21:34our Lord,
21:36who was conceived
21:37by the Holy Spirit,
21:39born of the Virgin Mary,
21:41suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
21:44was crucified,
21:46dead,
21:47and buried.
21:48He descended into hell.
21:50On the third day
21:51he rose again
21:52from the dead.
21:54He ascended into heaven
21:56and is sitting
21:57at the right hand
21:58of God the Father Almighty.
22:01From there
22:02he shall come
22:02to judge
22:03the living
22:03and the dead.
22:05I believe
22:06in the Holy Spirit,
22:08the Holy Catholic Church,
22:10the communion
22:10of saints,
22:11the forgiveness
22:12of sins,
22:13the resurrection
22:15of the body,
22:16and the life everlasting.
22:19Amen.
22:24The Lord be with you
22:27and with your spirit.
22:31Let us pray.
22:34Lord, have mercy upon us.
22:38Christ, have mercy upon us.
22:42Lord, have mercy upon us.
22:49Our Father,
22:50who is in heaven,
22:52holy is your name.
22:55May your kingdom come.
22:57May your will be done
22:59on earth
22:59as it is in heaven.
23:02Give us this day
23:03our daily bread.
23:04Forgive us
23:05our trespasses
23:06as we forgive those
23:08who trespass against us.
23:11lead us not
23:12into temptation
23:13but deliver us
23:15from evil.
23:17For yours
23:17is the kingdom,
23:19the power
23:20and the glory
23:21for ever
23:22and ever.
23:24Amen.
23:29O Lord,
23:30show your mercy upon us
23:31and grant us
23:34your salvation.
23:37Protect and guide
23:39those in authority
23:40over us
23:42and mercifully hear us
23:45when we call upon you.
23:48Endue your ministers
23:49with righteousness
23:52and make your chosen
23:53people joyful.
23:57O Lord,
23:58save your people
24:00and bless
24:01your inheritance.
24:05Give peace
24:06in our time,
24:07O Lord,
24:09because there is
24:10none other
24:10who fights for us
24:11but only you,
24:13O God.
24:15O God,
24:16make clean
24:17our hearts
24:18within us
24:20and take not
24:21your Holy Spirit
24:22from us.
24:31Let us pray.
24:35Grant, O Lord,
24:36we beseech you
24:36that the course
24:38of this world
24:38may be so peacefully
24:40ordered by your governors
24:42that your church
24:43may joyfully serve you
24:45in all godly quietness
24:47through Jesus Christ
24:49our Lord.
24:50Amen.
24:59O God,
25:00from whom
25:01all holy desires,
25:03all good counsels
25:04and all just works
25:05proceed,
25:07give to your servants
25:08that peace
25:09which the world
25:10cannot give,
25:12that our hearts
25:13may be set
25:14to obey
25:15your commandments
25:15and also
25:17that by you
25:18we,
25:20being defended
25:20from the fear
25:21of our enemies,
25:22may pass our time
25:24in rest
25:25and quietness
25:26through the merits
25:28of Jesus Christ
25:29our Saviour.
25:30Amen.
25:35Lighten our darkness
25:37we beseech you,
25:38O Lord,
