00:00In many respects, this afternoon's weather is looking pretty similar to yesterday's.
00:05Plenty of showers around and a cool, blustery feel to things as well,
00:09because we have low pressure sitting over Scandinavia,
00:12and it's this low that's dragging in a cooler northerly air across the country.
00:16And that northerly air is also bringing plenty of showers.
00:19We've already seen a fair few this morning,
00:21even some rumbles of thunder over eastern parts of England,
00:24and there are more showers to come through the day.
00:27They're going to be pretty widespread, some heavier ones, some thundery,
00:32even a bit of hail mixed in, and that hail could be relatively large,
00:35diameter of around a centimetre for some of us.
00:39Now, the showers are going to be very widespread.
00:41Most of us, if not all of us, likely to see some showers,
00:44and as I mentioned, they could be quite intense.
00:46But there will be some drier, perhaps even a bit sunnier breaks in between.
00:52Not a huge amount of sunshine. It's going to be fairly limited.
00:55Temperatures are on the low side, a little bit below average for the time of year.
00:59And with those brisk northerly winds,
01:01it's going to feel even cooler than these temperatures suggest.
01:04So, yes, a cool feel out there for sure,
01:07unless you're sheltered from the breeze and you do get any of those sunny spells,
01:10in which case it should feel relatively warm.
01:13Through the end of the day, we are going to see the showers easing a little bit.
01:17Not everywhere, though, across areas exposed to that northerly flow.
01:20Those showers are going to continue overnight,
01:22so northern parts of Scotland, northern parts of Northern Ireland,
01:24and also down the western side of England and Wales,
01:26and also some eastern coastal parts.
01:28Showers continuing here.
01:30Elsewhere, turning mostly dry.
01:32Lots of clear weather, a bit more cloud towards the southeast.
01:35Elsewhere, lots of clear weather.
01:36And where you get those clear skies,
01:38and again, in areas sheltered from that northerly breeze,
01:41it could turn a little chilly.
01:43Temperatures getting close to maybe a degree or so below freezing in a few prone spots.
01:48So a touch of frost can't be ruled out.
01:50Most of us, though, seeing temperatures holding up a few degrees above freezing.
01:54Nonetheless, a bit of a cool start to the day tomorrow.
01:57Again, similar to what we've seen through some recent mornings.
01:59But there will perhaps be slightly fewer showers than we've seen through recent days.
02:04That being said, across areas exposed to that northerly breeze,
02:07we'll still see showers.
02:08So northern Ireland, northern parts of Scotland,
02:11and also eastern and western parts of England and Wales.
02:14There's also likely to be a swathe of showery rain pushing its way southwards,
02:18initially across central parts of England and Wales,
02:20and then feeding into more southern areas through the afternoon.
02:23But on the whole, more dry weather, more sunshine than we've seen through some recent days.
02:29And whilst temperatures will be similar to today,
02:32a degree higher in some places, a degree lower in others,
02:35the winds will be easing.
02:37And with more sunshine as well,
02:38it's probably going to feel ever so slightly less cool for many of us
02:42compared to what it has done recently.
02:44Now, as we go into the weekend,
02:46there will be some rain around.
02:47It doesn't look especially heavy,
02:49but also plenty of fine weather,
02:51so not a total washout by any means.
02:53And whilst we are sticking with this rather cool theme,
02:56there is a warming trend,
02:58albeit it may take well until next week, really,
03:01before we see things warming up significantly.
03:03For more information about what we can expect with this weekend's weather,
03:06well, check out our weekend forecast,
03:08which Claire Nazir will be bringing to you this week.
03:11I'll see you again soon. Bye-bye.
