00:00Back at it on a wonderful Thursday.
00:03Couldn't have sandwiched a vacation any time better.
00:05Worked one day, went away for seven, come back, work for two, get a holiday on day one.
00:09I know, I was thinking that yesterday, like you did.
00:11That's a veteran move right there.
00:12That is as veteran a move as they go.
00:14I thought I was getting away with it by taking off next Friday after, you know, the Labor Day or
00:19the Memorial Day holiday.
00:21You planned it perfectly, though.
00:22One day, seven off, two days on, holiday weekend.
00:25That is a veteran move.
00:27To say that I planned it would be a lie.
00:29Okay.
00:30That is a good old-fashioned luck.
00:32That's the veteran move right there, man.
00:35Sandwich it around a holiday weekend.
00:36Way to go.
00:39Yeah, so back from Jamaica.
00:41Didn't get torched.
00:44But the sun did kiss you a little bit longer on the, closer to the equator.
00:50It looks like you managed it, though.
00:51He looks fine.
00:52Yeah, he doesn't look like Alex Gold went outside on a Tuesday.
00:55I mean, no, seriously.
00:56You got some tan.
00:56Looks like the sun actually was there.
00:58You were obviously outside.
00:59He died, but it was not unhealthy.
01:00Good job.
01:01Mm-hmm.
01:01From the 913, Dusty, what is Jamaican you the most upset about this Royals team?
01:09That's the one for the day.
01:10That's it.
01:12Texters, that's it.
01:13Don't keep him coming.
01:15Get back.
01:19Yes.
01:22I'm dying.
01:23That is hysterical.
01:25Somebody goes, did you have that moment where you thought, I could just stay here and not go back?
01:30Yes, every time you go somewhere.
01:32Right.
01:33Yeah.
01:36I don't know, man.
01:37Jamaica's fun for tourists.
01:39I will say that.
01:40It was very devastating to see what the hurricane had done to their native land back in the fall.
01:45Not a roof, really, on the house.
01:47They drove us.
01:47We went to this place called the Black River.
01:49They call it that because the river underneath is black.
01:53The water, obviously, clear and transparent, but the reflection of it makes it look like it's a black river.
01:57That's where the crocodiles were.
01:59Did you get in?
02:00Who?
02:01Absolutely not.
02:01But I got really damn close to a crocodile that was 15 feet long.
02:05His name was Hunter.
02:06Wow.
02:07Hunter and Phillip were the two gators we saw.
02:09And they literally would be like, come, come, come, and yell at it.
02:13And it would come close to the ship.
02:15Obviously, he had, or the boat, he had food.
02:17And he got down.
02:18It was like chicken on a stick or something like that?
02:19No, it was raw chicken in his hand.
02:21In his hand.
02:21And he would slap the nose or the snout of the croc.
02:25And then the croc would eat it.
02:26And then as he ate it, he would pet underneath it.
02:29Braver man than I.
02:30No chance would I get anywhere near that.
02:32So very cool that way.
02:34But, yeah, it was a fun time.
02:36It was a great time.
02:37But somebody who didn't have a great time while I was gone was for She Rice.
02:42And, guys, I know it's not going to happen.
02:46I know he's going to play this year for the Kansas City Chiefs.
02:48I don't think he's going to play after this year for the Kansas City Chiefs.
02:50But I think you all have already hit this nail on top of the head.
02:54I mean, what is the message to your team with the Rasheed Rice?
02:58Does this mean that everybody gets multiple chances?
03:01Does this mean that everybody?
03:02Because to me, and range bait comes out today.
03:05So keep your eye out for that around noon on our socials, it's Rasheed Rice-based.
03:10And the way I compared it to it, and maybe I'm wrong on this analogy, maybe I'm not.
03:16But it seems like you've been in a relationship before that kind of is like Rasheed Rice,
03:22whether it's the guy or the girl or whoever.
03:25And if you were to have, like, a situation where something doesn't go right or let's say that, you know,
03:31your girlfriend or whatever says, you know, sorry last night, didn't call you, just kind of went away.
03:36I didn't, you know, all right, strike one, whatever.
03:38But it happens again, you're a dumb yo if you're just like let it keep happening because then it's like,
03:44well, what's the limits of, you know, that I can go?
03:47And now we've seen the car incident, the domestic incident that got, you know, taken away or whatever.
03:54And then you see, hey, man, just stay out of trouble.
03:57Don't do anything dumb.
03:59You can't smoke weed.
03:59I know it sucks.
04:00Weed's legal everywhere, medicinal or recreational, whatever you want to call it.
04:03But, like, not for you.
04:06And your job's on the line.
04:07Your career is on the line.
04:08All of this you think would be, like, these things that would lead you to be, I'm good.
04:13I don't need that right now.
04:14Like, weed's great.
04:15I'm not going to lie.
04:16How you doing?
04:17Love it.
04:18I got $80 million on the line for the next two years.
04:21I don't think I have to smoke marijuana because I know what my life is going to be.
04:26And so, like, for me, it's like at some point you have to break away.
04:29Like, it's just not healthy.
04:31It's not sending the right message relationship-wise.
04:34Man, you're still dating that lady, Dusty?
04:35Didn't she, like, do this and do that?
04:37Yeah, but she's all right.
04:38She'll be fine.
04:39What's the message sending to everyone else around you?
04:41And it's a distraction, and it just never goes away, and it just doesn't seem to find its
04:47place.
04:47And with Rasheed Rice, it's like, is he ever going to get away from this?
04:50And fool me once, right?
04:51The shame.
04:52Yeah, right.
04:52Well, this is, like, fool me 10 times now with this guy, you know?
04:55So I just, I, yeah, it's just, to me, it's just frustrating.
04:57I don't need it.
04:58I thought Carrington's thing was hilarious.
05:01Yeah.
05:01I thought Cody, what Bob said yesterday was hilarious, where Cody just, like, put his
05:04hands there, like, really?
05:05Like, we're doing this again?
05:07So I don't know how you fellas think about it, but out of mind, out of sight is the way
05:11I feel about it.
05:11Well, the way that I feel about it is really, like, three, four, five-fold.
05:15I mean, there's so many different tentacles and angles to this whole thing.
05:18Number one, the guy's not an adult, and so I'll approach it from that angle first.
05:21You don't have many opportunities in life that are great and many opportunities where
05:26you can really change your life and potentially change lives of generations that come after
05:30you.
05:31And this was one of those opportunities.
05:33Like, Rasheed Rice is never going to have an opportunity like this again.
05:36You were drafted as a second-round wide receiver with the greatest head coach and the greatest
05:39quarterback of the generation, potentially, of all time, depending on how you want to describe
05:43all that.
05:43And all you had to do was come out here and just, you know, play football, just catch the
05:48football.
05:48That's all you had to do.
05:49I was talking to my buddy Jim again last night about this, and he says to me, he goes,
05:53look, he goes, all these guys had to do, Rasheed Rice had to do, was just play pitch
05:56and catch with Patrick Mahomes, and he would have had a great contract, a great career.
06:00I can't help people who don't have an idea of what it's like to be an adult.
06:05And that's where we need to go with Rasheed Rice first.
06:07It's not about football.
06:08This guy does not understand how to be a normal citizen in society.
06:12Like, he does not know how to walk around with others and behave himself.
06:16And so that's where we need to focus all of the attention.
06:20I think for him right now, let's teach this guy how to be an adult because he's already
06:25blown many opportunities.
06:26He's not getting a contract when he's done playing here, whether it's from the Kansas City
06:30Chiefs or anybody else, unless it's a Tyreek Hill type of contract where you make roster
06:35bonuses, because you can't, literally cannot afford to invest in this guy right now.
06:42You just can't afford to make that mistake.
06:44And right now, you need Rasheed Rice because you don't have anybody else on your roster today
06:49to play that position of wide receiver.
06:52But after this season, you really need to focus on that position and really recreating
06:56that position.
06:57Because I think the Chiefs ultimately have done a subpar job at developing wide receivers.
07:01Other than Tyreek Hill, they've really struggled at that position.
07:04It's time to put the money and the effort, I think, into that wide receiver position.
07:08I know they don't want to spend the big bucks, but sometimes you get to the point where you
07:12have to spend those big bucks and you have to use your money and resources to fix something.
07:17And I think that's where the Chiefs are right now.
07:18I'd love to see him do it with a trade with A.J.
07:20Brown, with George Pickens, and invest that way into the wide receiver position.
07:23Because I look at it as with A.J.
07:26Brown or George Pickens, if you can make a trade for them, it's not an investment for this
07:29year.
07:29It's an investment for this year and moving forward.
07:31And now you've got that number one target for Patrick Mahomes.
07:34And I also think at this point in time, don't do what the Royals are doing to Bobby Witt
07:38and surround him with nothing.
07:39Make sure you have guys around Patrick Mahomes at 30 years old now, staying ahead of the
07:45game and not getting to the point where Patrick Mahomes is Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay.
07:49So I look at it as, because I'm glad you mentioned George Pickens, because I thought about this
07:52yesterday.
07:53Like, I would rather have, like, an on-the-field issue with a teammate than I would an off-the
07:58-field
07:59issue.
07:59And what is George Pickens really ever done?
08:02No, that's what he's saying.
08:03Off-the-field.
08:03Nothing.
08:04He's just on the field.
08:05Like, he's not been a problem.
08:06Well, he was a headache for Tomlin in Pittsburgh because the message in that organization at
08:11the time for him wasn't what he wanted to hear, wasn't what he was doing.
08:14So he was pouting.
08:15It was frustrating, right?
08:16Drama queen.
08:16A.J.
08:17Brown, right?
08:17Reading a book.
08:18Doesn't like what's going on.
08:19Doesn't like the message.
08:20Okay.
08:21I can deal with that.
08:22That's fine.
08:22I can even deal with Jamar Chase, you know, being called a problem because he says things
08:28like, I'm not going to say his name.
08:30I don't think they have anybody.
08:31Okay, cool.
08:32Yeah, I'll deal with that.
08:33I'll deal with that.
08:33That's fine.
08:33You can deal with that.
08:34That's not a detriment to your team.
08:36I'll even take Jalen Carter spitting on Dak Prescott.
08:39He missed a game.
08:41And he hasn't done anything off the field since the draft, so I'm cool with that.
08:44And did he miss any games after the spitting itself?
08:47No.
08:48He changed himself.
08:49Okay.
08:49Yeah.
08:49That's stuff that can be controlled.
08:52What they do outside is the problem.
08:55And for some reason, it always seems to hit this franchise.
09:00Tyreek, Kareem, Rasheed Rice.
09:02There is a narrative building here.
09:05Whereas guys like Jamar Chase are like, ah, F that guy.
09:07I'm like, what's he do outside of it?
09:09What's he do outside the gridiron?
09:11So he stirs the pot because that's what you want is more hate and sports, more love in
09:15the world, right?
09:15That's the Danny Parkins line that he said one time when he worked here.
09:18And I think that rings true to this conversation.
09:20Like, Carter missed one game.
09:23Jamar Chase, yeah, he cost his team a game, maybe against the Chiefs a couple years ago
09:26with the – have we seen him act like that since, though?
09:30Now, again, their seasons haven't been of note.
09:31We'll get to Joe Burrow's comments a little bit later on today because they're great.
09:34But, again, like, I would take that sort of distraction where I can trust Andy Reid when
09:40they're around him, but it seems when they get away from the organization, they fall into
09:44these patterns.
09:45And guys like Jamar Chase, Jalen Carter, and guys like George Pickens, those are issues
09:51that I'm okay with because they might do something dumb on the field and miss, like, a half or
09:55a game.
09:56Right.
09:56Rasheed Rice missed seven games due to a suspension.
10:00He's been injured as well, not his fault.
10:02And then I don't know what will happen now.
10:04I don't know if he missed seven games.
10:05As of right now, I don't think anything.
10:07I think this is –
10:08No, nothing's going to happen.
10:09They've already ruled on this case.
10:10No, nothing's going to happen.
10:10They've already ruled on this case.
10:12And the 30-day sentence was because if he violated – he had to do the 30 days, but
10:16he may not have had to if he could have stayed clean.
10:18Right, if he could have stayed clean.
10:18And violated probation, so he had to go.
10:20So, clearly, 30 days in jail.
10:22You know what?
10:24Two days in jail would have me being a choir guy.
10:27Yeah, right.
10:28Two hours in jail.
10:29Two minutes in jail.
10:31I'd be quoting Bible verses on my sofa being like, I don't need to do anything.
10:34I'm not taking a sip of booze.
10:36I'm not taking a puff of weed.
10:37I'm not doing anything because I have to because it matters to, A, myself and my family, B, my
10:45franchise that has given me multiple chances, and C, my clout.
10:49Like, this, to me, is more of a slap in the face to the organization and the people that
10:53have supported him as opposed to, like, what he's done to his career.
10:56Well, yeah, you're right about that.
10:58These people have all gone to bat for you numerous times now in this organization when
11:02you've been through all of this stuff.
11:03But, again, maybe that's the problem right there is everybody constantly going to bat
11:07for athletes.
11:08What do you mean going to bat?
11:09What has the organization done?
11:10I'm not saying they haven't.
11:11I'm just standing up for him, you know.
11:12How have they done that?
11:13Well, I mean, allowing him to still be on the team and play and do all this stuff.
11:17There's been no, I mean, you know, there's no penalties for him.
11:20I know he was suspended by the league.
11:22I get all of that.
11:23But, I mean, there's going to be a penalty now.
11:24Now he's not going to be paid.
11:25He's not going to get, you know, a long-term contract.
11:28I think right now, if you had a better wide receiver room, I think they would consider
11:31cutting Rasheed Rice.
11:32I do.
11:33But you're in a spot right now where you don't have anybody.
11:35You actually need him more than he needs you at this point in time.
11:39You know, you need him more than he needs you at this point in time.
11:42But I think, you know, the organization, though, has shown if you cross them, they will punish
11:47you.
11:47They cut Kareem Hunt.
11:48They traded Tyreek Hill.
11:50You know, I don't think Rasheed Rice is going to be back here.
11:53I think he's going to have to sign some sort of one-year sort of prove-it deal, not on
11:57the
11:57field, but off-the-field type prove-it deal.
11:59But back to the original point, it's not necessarily just the Chiefs.
12:02It's sports in general.
12:03I've talked about this for years.
12:04We celebrate these athletes so much.
12:06We cover up for these athletes so much that they think they can get away with anything.
12:10And Rasheed Rice is a prime example of that.
12:12Like, if he faced punishment after that car accident right away, maybe he's not at this
12:18point in time where he's still doing other things.
12:21He's looking at it.
12:22He goes, I got away with that.
12:23Well, I'm going to go do other things.
12:25How many times has he been in the news since then, right?
12:27The club incident, the incident with his girlfriend, all those things that came out.
12:32Now, this one.
12:34Like, sometimes athletes just need to face the price and understand that for their whole lives,
12:40we're not going to cover up for you.
12:41We're not going to make grades better.
12:42We're not going to promote you.
12:43We're not going to do this.
12:44We're not going to do that because you're a good athlete.
12:46You eventually have to learn consequences.
12:49And I don't know that Rasheed Rice has ever been told or forced to learn a consequence.
12:55And now, 30 days in jail?
12:57Good Lord.
12:58If you don't shape up after that, there's nothing that can be done.
13:00Because I praised him when he came out last year.
13:02I think it was training camp, right, when he spoke?
13:05And he said something about, like, yeah, I got with a mentor.
13:07I got with.
13:08That was nice to hear.
13:09What does that say to that mentor now?
13:12Well, do you wonder if it was true?
13:13It was all baloney.
13:14No, it was all bogus, in my opinion.
13:16Yeah.
13:16Yeah.
13:16And I don't think.
13:17And I think he did face the price.
13:18I mean, there was a whole thread on Twitter.
13:20Like, he's got no money.
13:21He's faced a lot of prices.
13:23He's faced legal action.
13:24The league, yeah, if you want to talk about games missed and what the Chiefs have done, sure.
13:27But there have been consequences.
13:28So I don't want to go, oh, well, if this would have happened more harsh, maybe it wouldn't be.
13:32Or no, no.
13:32Like, this guy has proven who he is.
13:33But this should have been starting in high school, like, with him.
13:36Yeah, sure.
13:36But I'm just not giving him the benefit of the doubt.
13:38He's a grown-ass man.
13:39He's proven who he is.
13:40No, no, no.
13:40I'm not giving him the benefit of the doubt at all.
13:42Yeah, but like, oh, if we would have done this last year, maybe we wouldn't be here.
13:44Like, no, dude.
13:44This is what he has done, the situation that he's put himself in.
13:47And honestly, when I saw the report, I went, oh, and continued on.
13:50Because he's an idiot.
13:51He's shown us who he is.
13:52And to me, it changes nothing for 2026 or beyond.
13:54We knew wide receiver was already the top priority on this team.
13:57We knew that was probably going to be a first-round pick next year.
14:00We knew he wasn't signing here long-term because of the off-field actions that he's done.
14:05And it's not going to change anything from a football perspective this season.
14:08I'm speaking more of athletes in general.
14:10We do not discipline and hold athletes accountable from the time we realize they're good athletes.
14:15And we let them get away with everything.
14:16And then we get to this Rasheed Rice situation.
14:19He's the poster child for why we can't just continue to turn the other cheek when athletes do things that
14:25aren't acceptable.
14:26Because they continue to push the envelope and push the envelope and push the envelope.
14:30Look at this guy.
14:31I mean, you would think after that first time, he would have learned.
14:35But he didn't.
14:37Because he always thought somebody would be there to take care of anything.
14:40I can do what I want.
14:41Because my whole life, I've been told I'm great at football.
14:43And the teachers have taken care of me.
14:46Coaches have taken care of me.
14:47I've never had to have self-responsibility.
14:50Today, yesterday, whenever it happened, Wednesday, Monday,
14:53that's the first day Rasheed Rice finally has to face responsibility
14:57and being an adult and suffering consequences for your actions.
15:02And it is.
15:02It's not.
15:03But it is.
15:04He's going to jail, Mac.
15:05Yeah, but he's paid millions of dollars.
15:08I'll be honest with you, man.
15:10Sometimes that doesn't register.
15:11Sometimes 30 days in jail is what people need to turn this whole thing around.
15:15You said consequences.
15:16He's absolutely had major consequences.
15:18Are there consequences that you and I would have?
15:19No.
15:19But if you're facing these consequences, like this guy has shown over these years, right?
15:25Losing all of your money, knowing that you're at the end of the line in the NFL,
15:31why are you continuing to push the envelope?
15:33Because maybe those weren't the right consequences for him.
15:36And now, being 30 days in jail, if this doesn't change this guy,
15:40then there's nothing you can do to change him.
15:4230 days ain't not a lot of time.
15:45I mean, it is in jail.
15:46No, no, no, no.
15:47Bob, let me finish.
15:48I had to spend three hours in the slammer.
15:51Sucked.
15:51Made some bad decisions a few years back, right?
15:54Nothing big.
15:54Just had to go.
15:55Get it done.
15:56Worst thing ever.
15:57So I'm not saying it's not going to feel like an eternity.
15:59But you know better than us, Bob, what time is.
16:0230 days in the grand scheme of life is nothing.
16:06It is going to take something from him inside of him to change himself.
16:09It's not going to take a consequence.
16:11But wouldn't you be able to find that?
16:13You're 30 days in jail.
16:15It's not like you're 30 days on house arrest and you can kind of roll your eyes at it.
16:20Or, you know, maybe they slapped you on the wrist again and you walk out of the courtroom.
16:23You go, it got away with it again.
16:25Thank God.
16:25You're going to jail for 30 days.
16:27I would imagine eating gruel, sleeping on a mattress, looking at cockroaches, whatever happens inside the slammer.
16:34I would imagine after leaving that place after 30, like didn't three hours change your life, right?
16:40Three hours change your life.
16:41We did scared straight in high school.
16:43I've told the story.
16:43Changed my life.
16:45I mean, I didn't need the three hours that it was before that even happened.
16:48And we have texts coming in.
16:50Went to prison four times or went to prison three times.
16:52It wasn't until the fourth until it changed me.
16:54Wow.
16:55Wow.
16:56This guy's 20.
16:57Also, he's 20, what, four?
16:58I guess I know how I would be.
17:00The minute I saw that prison, I, like, I'd drive by the prison sometimes in Olathe, downtown Olathe.
17:05I look, I go, I never want to be in there.
17:07Like, I don't know.
17:08Maybe I'm just wired different, man.
17:09But I know if I went to jail, I would be done doing whatever that was because I don't want
17:13to be back in that place.
17:16Yeah, it's just, it's just sad to see talent wasted.
17:20Yeah, it sucks.
17:21At the end of the day.
17:21It's just, yeah.
17:22The other thing, too, it's not like he's Justin Jefferson.
17:25No.
17:26No, he's not the best receiver in the league.
17:27Like, so to take two things that aren't on this team, it's not like he's a top five wide receiver
17:33where you're like, man, it's just, it's there.
17:35It sucks.
17:35I know.
17:36But the other thing, too, is like, you don't have anybody else.
17:40That's where we are.
17:41He is our Justin Jefferson, you know.
17:43To give this topic, the Chiefs and Rasheed Rice are both handcuffed in this situation.
17:46They are.
17:47They really are.
17:48The Chiefs don't really have any other option.
17:49But again, it's like, at what point is the game more than the game?
17:53But that's also their fault that they don't have any other options.
17:55They didn't plan appropriately, again, at that position with Rasheed Rice.
18:00I would have said, and I don't know if this is being said or not, but, like, if you're the
18:04general manager of that team, if you're Brett Veach, you have to think, we've got to draft a wide receiver.
18:09Not a fifth-round wide receiver, but a top-wide receiver.
18:12Because even if Rasheed Rice goes out there, we have shown that we don't pay wide receivers, right?
18:18You're going to be looking for that next wide receiver.
18:20That's why I was a little perplexed we didn't draft one a little bit higher in the draft.
18:24But again, we sit here.
18:26If there's an A.J. Brown trade, if there's a George Pickens trade or something like that, then we know
18:31why they didn't go out there in the draft and make a move for a top-wide receiver.
18:36But, look, this position with the Chiefs has been terrible since the franchise has existed.
18:42We talked about it yesterday.
18:43You had Otis Taylor and you've had Tyreek Hill, and that's been it at that position.
18:47They've done a terrible job as a franchise finding the wide receivers.
18:52And so I think they really need to put in that work and really develop that position at this point
18:56in time because they just don't have anybody.
18:58And you don't want to be in this situation where you have a guy go to jail 30 days before
19:04the start of the season, and you're going, all right, what are we going to do now?
19:07We don't have enough wide receivers on this team.
19:10Yeah, it just sucks, man.
19:13If you had to take a bet right now that he doesn't see trouble anymore the rest of his career,
19:19is there any chance you'd say that you'd take that bet?
19:21No.
19:22No, exactly.
19:22I don't know if I would take the bet for this season, but the rest of the 26th year, 2026
19:28to December 31st.
19:30I don't know if I would take that bet.
19:31Yeah, I wouldn't take that bet.
19:32I'll take it for the next 30 days.
19:34My thing is, like, it just doesn't change anything for the Chiefs this season.
19:36They knew that what we were dealing with, he's going to ball out this season.
19:39The 30 days rehabbing doesn't mean anything.
19:42He's in a nice jail in Texas on the third floor in the medical unit being seen the whole time.
19:47This is not the jail that you and I would be at.
19:49I was always going to the county.
19:50Yeah, that's the county jail.
19:52You're right, because I read the exact same thing.
19:54He's on, like, the third floor, and that's where the medical wing is or something like that.
19:57He's being taken care of.
19:58This is not where you and I would be staying.
19:59Right.
20:00Again.
20:00So, yeah, I just think football-wise for the Chiefs, there's nothing to worry about.
20:04This is the same case.
20:07This season, the only thing I'm worried about football-wise is him behaving off the field in week seven,
20:11and, you know, you're six and two.
20:13And that was the case before this.
20:14Yeah.
20:15Right.
20:16But it doesn't also fix what's going on in the future, because this time next year,
20:21this wide receiver position needs to look completely different than what it looks like right now,
20:26because you've got guys that are going to be free agents,
20:28and you also need to go out there and find ways to make this position deeper and better.
20:33And that's a tough task to do if you're not going to invest the money in that position.
20:37Maybe an easy, quick response.
20:38If they would have gotten Carnell Tate out of Ohio State, is Rasheed Rice cut?
20:43I don't think so.
20:44No, I don't think so either.
20:45Okay.
20:46No.
20:47Don't forget, you want to listen today.
20:49Again, he's a pennies-on-the-dollar player, you know.
20:51That's fair.
20:51That's fair.
