00:00Here we go.
00:00We got the schedule out.
00:01We'll talk to Mitch Holtis about that.
00:03Coming up in 20 minutes here on Mitch's thoughts.
00:06Well, if he's not 17 and I'm going to be very disappointed with him as well,
00:10because that's what the Chiefs are going to go.
00:12Again, as I peruse the schedule and I continue to look at this schedule,
00:15I just don't see a loss anywhere on this schedule.
00:19I don't really see the Chiefs giving up any points as well.
00:22I think this is going to be 17 and 0,
00:24and they're going to win every single game 35 to nothing.
00:27And so when you have a team that's capable of doing that,
00:29you go out there and you do that.
00:31Let me ask you this question,
00:33and I'm being serious as a heart attack on this one, Max,
00:35so don't laugh because it's not funny.
00:37Okay.
00:38Where would you put your money?
00:41Royals to make the playoffs or the Chiefs to go 17 and 0?
00:48Royals to make the playoffs.
00:49Really?
00:5017 and 0 is so – it's more unlikely.
00:52If you look at the AL, like, yeah, the Royals, the way they're playing,
00:55it's so, so bad, but it's such a long season.
00:58The AL sucks.
00:59Do I think the Royals make the playoffs?
01:00No.
01:01Do I think they're a good baseball team?
01:02No.
01:03But 17 and 0?
01:04Tough it is, right?
01:05That is so difficult.
01:06Football's hard, man.
01:07And the margin between a good team and a bad team
01:10isn't what it is in baseball or even in, like, the NBA.
01:12Like, the Browns, as bad as they are,
01:15they had a top-five defense last year.
01:16You couldn't score against them.
01:18Sure, you're going to win, but it's going to be 14 to 10.
01:20Right.
01:20It's going to be a close, ugly game.
01:22And that's a bad, bad team.
01:24And that's the way the NFL kind of is right now.
01:25So, yeah, it is.
01:27No, it is.
01:28I mean, other than, like, the Jets and the Raiders
01:30who didn't get any primetime games
01:32or really any national games for that matter, right?
01:35I think the Jets.
01:36Jets, Raiders, and Titans.
01:37Jets, Raiders, and Titans, they all have,
01:39all noon games are 3.05, 4.05 games, right?
01:41There's no national window for any of those teams.
01:44And that's good.
01:44The NFL used to say, well,
01:45everybody's going to play a Thursday night game.
01:47We don't need to be exposed to these bottom feeders.
01:50Now, that's why we have that schedule flexibility
01:52later in the season.
01:53If a team that is not good today is good then,
01:56well, then you put them in that window
01:58or you see if a team is bad,
01:59they remove them from a primetime window
02:01and you find yourself with that schedule flex,
02:04which is, you know, ultimately good.
02:06But I think right now you've got to go 20-0, right,
02:08to win the Super Bowl?
02:10Yeah.
02:1120-0.
02:1120-0.
02:1120-0 to win the Super Bowl, right?
02:13If you go 20-0, you're the Super Bowl champs.
02:15Let me ask you this question.
02:16Who has more wins this year, the Royals or the Chiefs?
02:20Who has more wins?
02:21What do you mean?
02:21Well, the Chiefs go 20-0.
02:23The Royals are sitting at 19.
02:31Do the Royals win a game before the Chiefs play?
02:34Before the Chiefs play.
02:35Yeah.
02:359-1-3-5-8-6-7-9-6-5.
02:38Oh, they're going to win.
02:39Line them up and get on the phone.
02:40No, obviously, I mean,
02:41you're not going to lose the rest of the season.
02:43I mean, it's simple math.
02:45But no, no, I looked at the schedule a lot.
02:48I've pretty much memorized the whole damn thing right now.
02:51And I love it.
02:52I think it sets up very well.
02:54There's some challenges along the way, too.
02:56But there are also some of those breaks along the way.
02:58They set up the beginning part of the schedule
03:00for the Chiefs to make sure Patrick Mahomes is 100% healthy.
03:03And they set up the beginning part of the schedule
03:05to give the Chiefs an opportunity to really, really capitalize
03:08and put themselves in the driver's seat
03:10before we reach the 10th day of October, Mac,
03:13because that's the bye week.
03:14Let me tell you something, Mac.
03:16So we're in a position where we can be 3-0 in the division,
03:225-0 overall, 5-0 against the AFC
03:25in the first five games of the season,
03:28first six weeks of the season.
03:29They have set the Chiefs up to have themselves
03:31a really good start to the season.
03:33And that's what excites me so much.
03:35Yeah, Denver's going to be tough.
03:36I'm not a fool.
03:39I know the Denver Broncos game is going to be tough.
03:40Chargers games are probably going to be tough this year.
03:43Seattle, obviously, the defending Super Bowl champs.
03:46But that beginning part of the schedule shapes up beautifully.
03:49Denver off a bye to start the season.
03:51Andy Reid, 33-8 in his career off of bye weeks.
03:55Yeah, and at home, yeah.
03:56Chargers off the bye week.
03:58Those are two of your biggest competitors this year.
04:02Yeah, because the week six, yeah.
04:03Week five, yeah, that is nice.
04:04That is nice to have the bye week before the Chargers.
04:06So you get your two biggest games of the year
04:09from a divisional standpoint that are at home,
04:12essentially both coming off bye weeks.
04:14Think about that for a minute, man.
04:17As good as Andy Reid is coming off those bye weeks,
04:21week one and week six, that's incredible.
04:25And then after you take on the Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving,
04:29you get that entire week now to get ready for the Rams.
04:33And then you have 10 days to get ready for the Bengals.
04:36And so you're getting some built-in time towards the end of the season
04:40that I think is going to be good for rest and good for everybody.
04:43And then, of course, being 16-0,
04:45you don't have to worry about playing guys in the last week of the season
04:48as you go for, you know, clinching that number one overall seat.
04:51Yeah, like it definitely – I like the beginning of it,
04:54the two home games, the prime time.
04:56It's a good way to have momentum.
04:57I love the first two road games being Dolphins and Raiders.
04:59That's straight BBL stinky.
05:00And I think you look at the schedule before the bye week,
05:043-1 is the floor, and there's no exception for anything less.
05:08And frankly, 4-0 is imperative, in my opinion, to start out 4-0,
05:11get that win against the Broncos, start off 2-0 in the division,
05:14and then you know what Andy Reid is off the bye.
05:16You're looking at a probable 5-0, and that's where the season would really start.
05:20Because I do look at it as a murderer's row when you start on November 26,
05:26that Thanksgiving day against the Bills.
05:27From then on out until you get to that last game against the Raiders on January 10th,
05:31you have got a rough road to hoe because you've got the Bills, the Rams, the Bengals.
05:36And I know you mentioned some rest, but I'll tell you,
05:38that Bills game is the third game within 11 days.
05:41So you're going to be worn out.
05:43You're going to be tired.
05:44You're going to be coming to Atlanta, then to Kansas City,
05:47then over to the new Buffalo Stadium off 11 days.
05:51Then you've got the Rams, the Bengals, both on the road.
05:52Then you host the Patriots, the Niners, and then you go to L.A.
05:56to take on the Chargers.
05:57That six-week stretch has got to be contending with any six-week stretch
06:01any team has in the NFL season.
06:02Okay, so let me ask you this.
06:03Of those teams on that schedule right now, Bills were in the playoffs.
06:07Rams were in the playoffs.
06:08Patriots were in the playoffs.
06:1049ers were in the playoffs.
06:11Chargers were in the playoffs, right?
06:13Yeah.
06:14Which one of those teams is not making the playoffs?
06:16Because one of those teams will not be in the playoffs.
06:18Which one do you think it's going to be?
06:20I'm leaning on the Niners.
06:21Okay.
06:22It's the Niners or the Patriots right now.
06:24I'm leaning towards the Patriots on that one.
06:26I'm going age for the Niners, and I know Shanahan's going to be able to just make magic,
06:31which is what he does.
06:31But that division's really good.
06:33The NFC's pretty solid.
06:34I haven't looked at their schedule.
06:36Obviously, I'd have to see how tough that schedule is.
06:38But yeah, I just think they're going to deal with injuries.
06:41A CMC, a Kittle goes down.
06:42I don't know who their wide receivers are.
06:45I'm struggling to, I think their window is closed.
06:47Okay.
06:48That's fair.
06:48And you know what?
06:49That is fair to say about that team, because they seemingly had their window open for a very long time.
06:55They've done so much other than winning the Super Bowl inside that window.
06:59I've really become a believer in Kyle Shanahan.
07:01And that says a lot.
07:02Yes, that does.
07:03You weren't exactly his biggest fan.
07:05No, no, not at all.
07:06You weren't a hater.
07:06But then I watched what he did last year, and I'm like, oh my God.
07:09Like, what he did last year was genius.
07:11It really was.
07:11I mean, there's nothing that you can say about it.
07:13Everybody was hurt, and he still found a way to win games and get to the postseason.
07:17Like, it was crazy to watch him coach last year.
07:19Score points the whole time.
07:20They scored points the whole time.
07:22They were able to find different ways to do it, whether it was running or passing.
07:25It was three different quarterbacks, multiple offensive line injuries, including their best one,
07:29one of the best linemen we've ever seen.
07:31And Trent Williams goes down for some of the seasons.
07:33So, yeah, they were able to work through so many ailments, and they still get it down.
07:36For the 49ers, just talk because we're on it.
07:38I mentioned the NFC West.
07:39Tough.
07:40Obviously, they play the AFC West.
07:41Tough.
07:42Yeah.
07:42And then they play the NFC East, which we kind of like this year.
07:46I mean, I think the NFC East is going to be a bearer this year.
07:48I agree.
07:48Other than the Cowboys.
07:50No, I think the Cowboys are going to be really good.
07:52I think the Eagles, maybe other than the Eagles, but even the Eagles are still going
07:55to be a 7-8 win team.
07:56They're not going to be.
07:57Why do you think the Eagles are going to have such a step back?
07:59Well, I don't think Jalen Hurts is a good quarterback.
08:01I've thought that.
08:02I think Saquon Barkley is another year older.
08:05We'll see if he didn't have a great season last year, but he also was healthy the whole year.
08:09He's been healthy now two years in a row.
08:11Odds are he'll be hurt.
08:12Odds are he'll be hurt.
08:13They're not going to have A.J. Brown.
08:15And he's older, as you said, which makes, I mean, think about this.
08:17He's two years removed from that season that he had two years ago.
08:20That's an eternity in running back years.
08:22And then the offensive line took a step back last year.
08:24They're another year older.
08:25They didn't add a lot there.
08:26So I just, I'm not a Jalen Hurts fan.
08:28I'm not a Sirianni fan.
08:29I think at some point, push is going to come to shove and we're all going to go, oh, okay,
08:33this is who this team is.
08:34Yeah, absolutely.
08:35And, but I think the worst team in that division may be Washington and, and, and, you know,
08:38the jury is still out.
08:39It's very confusing.
08:40I don't know what to make of that Washington football team.
08:43Cut.
