A bizarre theft incident from Uttarakhand’s Bhimtal has gone viral after three tourists were allegedly caught on CCTV stealing a 10-kilogram bag of paneer from outside a dairy shop.

According to reports, the incident took place on May 18 near a petrol pump on the Bhimtal-Bhowali road, where crates of full and empty milk containers had been stacked outside a dairy shop. A 10-kg bag of paneer had reportedly been kept among the crates.

CCTV footage from the spot allegedly shows three youths roaming around the dairy and surveying the area before one of them quickly picked up the bag and fled when he found an opportunity.

Traders said such incidents damage the image of the tourism sector and create concern among local business owners.

Led by Bhimtal Chamber of Commerce president Pankaj Joshi, traders submitted a written complaint to police along with CCTV footage and demanded immediate identification and arrest of the accused.
