00:00All right, little birdie just told me some interesting information.
00:04I just got some information that I need to share right away with everybody,
00:10and I'm so excited to do so.
00:13Eight teams start OTAs today in the NFL, baby.
00:16We are so back!
00:18Woo!
00:18We are here, yeah.
00:19Adam Schefter, eight teams, and a lot of them, you made a good point.
00:22A lot of these are new coaches.
00:24Well, usually it's that first week they get an extra week of OTAs
00:27when you have a new coach, right?
00:28So who do you have starting this?
00:29Titans, new coach.
00:30Steelers, new to them, coach.
00:32Ravens, new coach.
00:33Raiders, new coach.
00:34Falcons, new coach.
00:36Dolphins, new coach.
00:37Cardinals, new coach.
00:38Bills, new coach.
00:39And the Giants, new coach, not starting.
00:41Maybe they start tomorrow.
00:42Maybe they go Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.
00:45Vermeer always used to have some weird kind of like OTAs type stuff,
00:49which I always thought was his way of not giving people a three-day weekend,
00:52which was probably smart.
00:53Monday, Tuesday, off Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
00:56You know, and then you didn't have that three-day weekend to get a na-na-na,
01:00na-na-na.
01:00Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:02Smart.
01:03Yeah, I always thought that was kind of smart for a while there.
01:05That's kind of how I was doing my workouts.
01:06I'll go Monday, Tuesday, take Wednesday off,
01:08and I never go back the rest of the week.
01:12It's a good plan.
01:14Didn't execute the plan.
01:15You know, it was a good plan, but it has to be executed properly.
01:18And so the Chiefs will probably begin their OTAs, I guess,
01:21next week is when the folks can start going to OTAs
01:24and have a returning coach.
01:26Can't wait to get out there.
01:27Yeah, it's going to be fun to see what these guys can do.
01:29And there's a chance, probably a small one,
01:32because they don't have much money to go out there and spend,
01:34but still a chance nonetheless.
01:36Stephon Diggs could potentially be a guy that ends up here in Kansas City.
01:40There were more rumors linked to Stephon Diggs over the weekend
01:43and, you know, linking him, if you will, to Kansas City.
01:47Are they credible?
01:48I don't know.
01:49Are they just saying,
01:50now the Chiefs need a veteran wide receiver?
01:52It seems like a good spot.
01:54Yes.
01:55And I'm for Stephon Diggs,
01:56because it looks like they're going to sign somebody, right?
01:59A veteran wide receiver.
02:00It looks like they're going to sign a veteran guy.
02:02Diggs makes more sense than Tyree Kill on so many different levels.
02:06And number one,
02:07just being the fact that he's not going to be that distraction that he'll will be,
02:10Mac, and he's also going to be able to play right away.
02:13Where Tyree Kill, he may not play again.
02:15We don't know what he's going to do.
02:17So I'm in on Diggs coming here.
02:20Absolutely.
02:20He had over 1,000 yards last year,
02:22and it was only on like 70, 80 catches.
02:24It was not that.
02:25I mean, it was a good amount of targets and catches.
02:27But if you look at like the value of those,
02:29he was coming off of an ACL tear,
02:31and he had over 1,000 yards on kind of gimme targets.
02:35He wasn't being used in the same way,
02:37and he was still really, really productive,
02:39had multiple touchdowns.
02:40I can't remember the exact number,
02:41but he was really good last season off of an ACL tear post 30 years old.
02:47He was making too much money last year for my liking,
02:49but I'm looking at the projection here just as off of a couple people.
02:52They're thinking two years, roughly $13 million a year.
02:55If I got him for one year or two years,
02:57around six-ish a year.
02:59Oh, that's total?
03:0113 total.
03:02Oh, that's not bad.
03:03That's nothing.
03:05Two year worth roughly.
03:05Oh, 13 a year.
03:06Yeah, two for 26.
03:07Yeah, so it'd be 13 a year.
03:0913 a year.
03:09Yeah, so you get him for one for 13.
03:11I'd like a one-year deal.
03:12And I think that makes more sense for this team also.
03:16This is not a Band-Aid,
03:18but it's an addition to a position that we need help on,
03:22and he's not a future at this,
03:23but him with Rice, with Worthy,
03:25you add in Thornton,
03:27hopefully Cyrus Allen becomes something.
03:29You've got a decent group for this season.
03:31Now, it's still going to be our number one topic
03:33when we get to the offseason.
03:34Absolutely.
03:34We start talking about,
03:35all right, Veach, you've got to now add more.
03:38Here we go.
03:39And a lot of that also relies on,
03:40okay, is Xavier Worthy actually going to take that step up?
03:43I mean, you mentioned his kind of projections
03:46a couple weeks ago.
03:47I was like, well, what do you think he'll get this year?
03:50And you said like 600 yards or something.
03:51And if that's the Xavier Worthy that we're getting,
03:54and hopefully you're wrong,
03:55but that's not a future at that position.
03:58That's a wide receiver three.
03:59And if Rashear Rice isn't going to be on this football team
04:01because of off-the-field issues,
04:03because of his inability to be an adult
04:05and to be an NFL football player,
04:08then, yeah, they don't have anything at that position.
04:10But Diggs for this year, absolutely.
04:12And also, yes, are we going all in for a Super Bowl?
04:16No.
04:17But this team making the playoffs,
04:19winning 11 games,
04:20and Diggs being on a team that's now made the Super Bowl,
04:22being on a team that's made AFC Championship games
04:24multiple times,
04:25another veteran would not hurt,
04:27and I absolutely think it would help their Super Bowl chances.
04:29Yeah, I think it would be a nice addition,
04:31but I also don't want it to be one of those additions
04:34where we're now looking at Diggs
04:36to be the 1,500-yard, 10-touchdown guy
04:39because he's not going to be that guy, Mac.
04:41And honest to God, I don't want him to be that guy.
04:43I want him to come in
04:45and be the number three at best wide receiver on this team.
04:49I need to know what we have in Worthy
04:52and what we have in Rice.
04:53It is a very important season.
04:55Almost like right now with Cags,
04:58you're sitting there with a terrible record.
05:00You're not giving this kid an opportunity to play.
05:02We don't know what we have in him.
05:03I don't want to walk away from the end of next season going,
05:06I don't know if they should sign Xavier Worthy
05:09and Rasheed Rice.
05:10I want to know definitively, one way or the other.
05:12So I need those guys to play.
05:14I need those guys to be coached up.
05:16I don't need a veteran guy getting in the way,
05:19but I need a veteran guy in there
05:21to give Patrick Mahomes somebody else
05:23that he could look for,
05:24that he could throw the football to.
05:26And I don't want it to be Tyreek Hill
05:27because I don't know if I can count on Tyreek Hill
05:29off and on the field at this point.
05:32And we don't know what that injury is going to be like.
05:34That leg got shredded.
05:36And so there's a good chance
05:37that he's not even ready to go
05:39at the start of the season.
05:40Stephon Diggs will be ready to go
05:42at the start of this season.
05:43Has a great pedigree.
05:45He's been around a lot of winning organizations.
05:47His time does run short
05:48in a lot of these organizations,
05:49as you've seen.
05:50Minnesota, Buffalo, Houston, New England.
05:53And, like, one year may be the perfect,
05:55perfect time to have him on your team now, you know?
05:58Yeah, I don't want the...
06:00I will say we've got a couple of texts saying
06:02Diggs won't be a distraction,
06:04which I do get that.
06:05I think him being a distraction could be a thing.
06:07I don't think the off-the-field issues,
06:08like the legal stuff,
06:10that there's been made too much of that,
06:11especially the recent issues.
06:12That was total bogus.
06:14If you read into that court case,
06:15that stuff's not legitimate,
06:17which makes me more keen to signing him.
06:19But, yeah, the Cardi B, the dating,
06:22bringing multiple women to the Super Bowl,
06:24that stuff I could do without.
06:25There's no doubt,
06:26and that could be somewhat of a distraction.
06:28But...
06:28But to find distraction, though, too, Mac,
06:31I mean, like...
06:32If you think that...
06:33Well, can I say one more?
06:34If you think that,
06:35then you better not be on board for Tyreek Hill.
06:38Right, exactly.
06:39Better also not be on board for Tyreek Hill.
06:40I'm okay with that.
06:41If that's your case, fine.
06:42You better be consistent.
06:43But also, too,
06:43this team has dealt with so many distractions
06:46over the last decade
06:47with everything that's been involved,
06:48from being the traveling sideshow of the Beatles
06:51to having the world's most popular person
06:53as one of your top fans
06:55to having the greatest quarterback of all time.
06:58And they've handled everything brilliantly.
07:00Like, I think we look at the surface
07:02and say distraction.
07:04But again, at the end of the day, Mac,
07:07Tyreek Hill was not a distraction here in Kansas City
07:09at all.
07:10Once they got him in and he did his thing,
07:14yeah, he had his moment,
07:15but not what went on in Miami.
07:18Not that kind of distraction
07:19where, I mean, my God,
07:21his house is on fire, for God's sakes.
07:23Like, the Chiefs do a really good job
07:25of minimizing those distractions.
07:27And that's the leadership of Andy Reid,
07:29of course, right?
07:30The leadership that this organization has.
07:32You're not going to be a distraction,
07:33otherwise you're not going to be part of this thing.
07:35And you want to be part of this?
07:36It's pretty fun.
07:37You know?
07:37Yeah.
07:37It's a pretty fun team to be a part.
07:39If you go play for the Browns if you want,
07:40you're not going to be a distraction here.
07:42And when you become a distraction,
07:43we send you on your way.
07:44Kareem Hunt, Tyreek Hill.
07:47So, you know.
07:47So, would bringing Diggs in,
07:48if that meant less Xavier Worthy,
07:50would you be against it?
07:51Because it will.
07:52Diggs will play more than Xavier Worthy.
07:54Like, in two wide receiver sets,
07:55I imagine he'd be on the field.
07:56I don't know.
07:57I'd have to talk to my therapist about that.
07:58You'd have to ask him some questions.
08:00Yeah, I do.
08:01Her.
08:01Ask her.
08:02My fault.
08:02Casey Royale, my therapist.
08:04We'll get more into my conversations with her
08:05as time moves along.
08:07But I would have to, seriously,
08:09and I'm being serious about that,
08:09I'd have to think about that, Mac.
08:11I don't know what the answer is,
08:12because I would be a hypocrite to say,
08:15yeah, that's okay,
08:16and then say we want more kegs, right?
08:19Like, I need to see,
08:20I think I need to see what we have
08:22in Rice and Worthy
08:23before I'm willing to turn over
08:25number two to Stephon Diggs, right?
08:27I can see him being a number three.
08:29I have no problem with him being a number three.
08:30But I've got to see a full year.
08:32Both of these guys are fully healthy.
08:34Both of these guys have a real coach right now.
08:36For the first time,
08:38both of those guys now
08:39have an opportunity with a full off season
08:41and OTAs and all this kind of stuff
08:43to show us what they can do
08:44with really good instruction right now.
08:47So I'm still leaning towards,
08:49yeah, I'd rather see Worthy.
08:50Worthy more.
08:51Yeah, I get that.
08:52I think, yeah,
08:53because you're kind of talking like
08:54trying to figure out both of them too,
08:55Worthy and Rice.
08:56I think we know Rice.
08:57Like, I know who Rice is, personally.
08:59Like, I think Rice is a stud.
09:01All my questions with him come off the field,
09:03and I can only know what I read, right?
09:05I only know what I read,
09:06and I don't like a lot of what I come across.
09:08And a lot of it's alleged,
09:09and so who knows what to believe.
09:11And the Kansas City Chiefs,
09:12about a year from now,
09:13or a little bit,
09:1410 months from now or so,
09:15are going to have to do a lot of thinking
09:16and figuring of that out.
09:18That's not for me to do.
09:19But as far as the football product, man,
09:21he is a star.
09:22I think he'll be the best wide receiver
09:23in the division.
09:24Yeah.
09:251,200 yards for Rasheed Rice this year.
09:27Let's go.
09:27There's a great chance that he is that guy.
09:29There is.
09:29But I want to see it.
09:30I do.
09:31I need to see it with those two guys.
09:33And I don't have a problem
09:33with having a veteran like a Sammy Watkins
09:35type of presence, you know,
09:37where we bring him in
09:38because we're going to need that veteran presence.
09:40But you know what?
09:41They didn't need Sammy Watkins.
09:42Those younger guys rose to the occasion,
09:44and Sammy Watkins became a piece,
09:46but he was looked at as he was going to be the number one,
09:49and they didn't need him to be that number one
09:50because everybody else rose their level around him.
09:53Hopefully that's what we see happen,
09:54you know, with this group of wide receivers.
