A chilling murder case from the Mumbra area near Mumbai has shocked residents after police uncovered an alleged conspiracy in which a woman, along with her husband and brother, brutally killed her lover and dumped his body inside a drum in a drain.

The sensational “blind murder” case was cracked by Mumbra Police through technical surveillance, mobile tower analysis, and call detail record investigations.

The victim was identified as Arbaaz Maqsood Ali Khan, a resident of Mumbra.

According to police, the case began on August 3, 2026, when Arbaaz left home after informing his family that he was travelling to Dadar for work. However, he never returned, and his phone later became unreachable.

After repeated attempts to trace him failed, his father filed a missing person complaint at Mumbra Police Station.

During the investigation, police analysed Arbaaz’s call detail records and mobile location history. Officials discovered that his phone was last active in the Versova area.

Further technical analysis allegedly revealed that his girlfriend, identified as Mehjabeen Sheikh, was also present in the same area at the same time.

This location match reportedly raised suspicion and led investigators to question her.

Police said Mehjabeen initially denied involvement and allegedly gave contradictory statements. However, during sustained interrogation and after being confronted with technical evidence, she reportedly confessed to the crime.

According to police, Mehjabeen revealed that she, along with her husband Hasan and brother Tariq Sheikh, had planned to extort money from Arbaaz.

Investigators said the accused allegedly lured Arbaaz to Versova on the pretext of a financial deal.

When the expected money was not received, the situation allegedly turned violent.

Police stated that the accused tied Arbaaz’s hands and brutally assaulted him with a plastic pipe, resulting in his death.

To destroy evidence, the accused allegedly stuffed the body into a large green drum and transported it to a secluded drain in the Mumbra area, where it was dumped.

Following the confession, police arrested Mehjabeen Sheikh and her brother Tariq Sheikh.

A case has been registered against four accused under charges related to murder, criminal conspiracy, and destruction of evidence.

However, Mehjabeen’s husband Hasan and another accused, identified as Muzammal Pathan, are currently absconding.

Police said raids are underway to trace and arrest the remaining accused.

Officials stated that the case highlights the growing importance of digital forensics and technical surveillance in solving complex criminal investigations.

Further investigation is ongoing.
