Thieves Attempt to Steal ₹1 Lakh From Bike Near Bethamangala Police Station, Locals Catch Accused

A shocking theft attempt was reported from Bethamangala in KGF taluk of Karnataka’s Kolar district, where thieves allegedly tried to steal ₹1 lakh kept inside a bike box near the Bethamangala Police Station.

According to reports, Ramesh, a resident of Bethamangala New Town, had withdrawn ₹1 lakh from a Canara Bank branch and kept the cash inside the storage box of his motorcycle.

Police said he had parked the bike near a shop and briefly stepped away when the accused, who were allegedly waiting for an opportunity, opened the bike box, stole the money, and attempted to flee.

However, Ramesh’s son reportedly noticed the theft and immediately raised an alarm.

Hearing the commotion, local residents chased the accused, caught them, and later handed them over to the police.

The entire incident was reportedly captured on CCTV cameras installed nearby.

The incident triggered anger among residents, especially because the alleged theft attempt took place close to the Bethamangala Police Station.

Some locals questioned the police response and alleged that officers did not react immediately despite the noise and commotion in the area.

Police have taken the accused into custody, and further investigation is underway.
