Real-Life Hero in Hyderabad: Auto Driver Rams Snatcher, Saves Woman & Helps Police Nab Repeat Offender

In a remarkable act of bravery, an auto-rickshaw driver, Mohd Zaheer, risked his life to foil a chain-snatching attempt and helped police arrest a repeat offender in Begum Bazaar, Hyderabad.

The incident took place on March 4 near Jhinsi Chowrasta, when a woman out on a morning walk with her daughter-in-law was targeted by a rowdy-sheeter, identified as Mohd Sohail.

According to police, Sohail attempted to snatch the woman’s gold chain but lost control of his scooter and fell. Hearing the victim’s cries, Zaheer—who had already crossed the spot—quickly reversed his auto-rickshaw and rammed the आरोपी’s bike as he tried to escape.

Despite being attacked with a stick, Zaheer did not back down and ensured the accused could not flee until patrolling police arrived and took him into custody. Notably, Zaheer left the spot quietly without revealing his identity or seeking any recognition.

The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras, which later helped Hyderabad City Police trace Zaheer through his vehicle number.

In recognition of his courage, Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar honoured him at TGICCC with a commendation letter and a cash reward.

Praising his actions, the Commissioner said Zaheer’s courage sets an example of responsible citizenship at a time when many hesitate to intervene.

Police have registered a case, and further investigation is underway.
