00:00Hello, very good day to you after what was quite a stormy, very wet day for me.
00:05Many of us yesterday with Storm Chandra, it's fair to say it's a fair bit quieter.
00:10Today, yes, there are some fronts nearby, one across the far northeast and one bringing some...
00:15...shary rain to parts of the southwest, but actually in between, a lot of dry and at times bright weather.
00:20That being said, there was a bit of mist and murk, some fog overnight, and in some places that could take a...
00:25...while to lift and clear away, it could lift into a fair bit of clouds, so quite cloudy at times.
00:30Across central parts, but there will be some sunshine breaking through here and there, across Northern Ireland, much of Scotland.
00:35And some parts of England and Wales seeing some glimmers of blue sky at times.
00:40We go through this afternoon.
00:41Meanwhile, like I said, there's a front towards the northeast, so that's going to bring some rain...
00:45...across the far east, northeast of Scotland, and we have some showery bursts of rain across some parts.
00:50...of the south-southwest.
00:51None of these look especially heavy, well, a few heavier bursts.
00:55That's possible, I suppose.
00:56But definitely not as wet as it was yesterday.
00:59Then...
01:00Temperature-wise, well, they're about average for the time of year.
01:02We're looking at highs in the north, ranging from around 6 to 8.
01:05Celsius, and a couple of degrees higher than this further south.
01:08Just about getting into...
01:10Double digits.
01:11Into the evening and overnight, we are going to see more damp, wet weather across the...
01:15...of the far east, northeast of Scotland, feeding a little bit further west and south.
01:19So, some hill snow...
01:20...developing across some central parts of Scotland.
01:22A bit damp at times across northeast England as well.
01:25Otherwise...
01:25A lot of dry weather in similar places to where we're seeing the dry weather through today.
01:29Just a few hours.
01:30High breaks of rain here and there.
01:31And some showery bursts across some parts of the south-west of England.
01:35South Wales as well.
01:37Where we see some drier weather, there will also be some...
01:40...clearer skies.
01:41Not as much as last night.
01:43And so, prone rural...
01:45...but with any clear skies, could see temperatures dropping close to...
01:48...maybe a little bit below freezing.
01:50So...
01:50...a little bit of frost.
01:51Maybe some icy patches perhaps.
01:52But not as much of an issue as it was this morning.
01:55Perhaps a greater issue will be the Mr Merck, the low cloud and fog...
01:59...which...
02:00...particularly across some eastern parts of Wales.
02:02Maybe central England.
02:03That could be quite thick in places.
02:05So...
02:05...that could cause some difficulties on the roads tomorrow morning.
02:08Then as we go into...
02:10...our attention is turning to this frontal system here to the south-west of us.
02:14It's not...
02:15...not as potent a feature as we saw coming through earlier on this week with Storm Chandra.
02:19But nonetheless it is...
02:20...is going to bring some wet weather.
02:21Ahead of that actually, yes.
02:22A bit of a slow start where we have that cloud, that murkiness.
02:25But we start Thursday on a similar vein to how we go through much of today really.
02:29A lot of dry...
02:30...weather for most just towards the north-east.
02:32More rain.
02:33Some hill snow as well.
02:34But then that front that I mentioned...
02:35...comes in from the south-west.
02:36And so we're going to see some fairly heavy rain pushing initially across...
02:40...parts of Devon and Cornwall but also parts of south-west Wales.
02:43And then making its way north-eastwards.
02:45...as we go later on.
02:46Now because the ground is so very saturated here, there are ongoing...
02:50...flooding issues because of Storm Chandra.
02:52Even a modest amount of rain, 30-40mm.
02:55...or so is going to cause some issues.
02:57So some further flooding is quite likely as we go through the...
03:00...latter part of Thursday and overnight into Friday morning as well.
03:03Temperatures on Thursday.
03:05Well they look relatively similar to today.
03:07Maybe a degree or so down in the north because we have slightly...
03:10...colder air coming in which is why there's a reasonable chance...
03:13...of some hill snow developing.
03:15But again towards the south-south-west just about getting into double figures.
03:19Through the evening we have...
03:20...we are going to see that rain in the south-west pushing a little bit further north...
03:23...and eastwards so feeding in across parts of...
03:25...and northern Ireland as we go through Thursday night into Friday.
03:28And again very wet ground here.
03:30And then also ongoing flooding issues so more issues as a result of that.
03:34And then yeah.
03:35Turning wetter across parts of Wales and more of the south-south-west of England.
03:39But further...
03:40north and east across more central parts staying dry for that little while yet.
03:45Through Friday and into the weekend there is more heavy rain to come and we are going to see...
03:50...some more issues as a result of that because the ground is so very wet.
03:54The rain just has no...
03:55...where to go.
03:56There will be some brightness around so it's not a total washout.
04:00There will...
04:00There will be some dry weather at times so depending where you are will depend on...
04:05...when that's the most likely.
04:07And whilst in the south temperatures will be near normal...
04:10...or further north they're going to be a little bit below and so there's always the chance...
04:13...of some hill snow at times.
04:14For more information...
04:15...about what we can expect through this weekend and beyond...
04:17...well check out the 10 day trend which Alex Deacon will...
04:20...be bringing to you later on.
04:21Bye-bye.
