00:00Hello, very good day to you. Hope you're having a good one. There's some wet and windy weather set to
00:04push into northern and western parts as we go overnight.
00:08But before that, there's plenty of fine sunny weather around today, albeit a few showers as well.
00:14We actually saw quite a few showers pushing through this morning, some heavier ones here and there, some rumbles of
00:19thunder, some flashes of lightning across parts of Wales, but the lightning risk that's now eased.
00:24Nonetheless, we still have a scattering of showers across some western parts and they will continue through the afternoon.
00:31There will be some dry, bright weather in between and actually further east, fewer showers arriving here.
00:35So most places in the east actually staying dry.
00:38With the sunshine, it is going to feel relatively warm for the time of year.
00:42It is October now after all, but temperatures are down a couple of degrees compared to recent days.
00:48Still low 20s in the southeast and mid to high teens elsewhere, but blustery winds towards the northwest will make
00:55it feel a touch fresher.
00:57Now, a big talking point of what's going to happen overnight is a frontal system that comes through.
01:02Initially, we'll see some rain. It'll be outbreaks of rain, could be a bit heavy, but there's a sort of
01:06wavy feature within the front and that's going to bring heavier pulses of rain.
01:11As we go into tomorrow, it could be some heavier rain over parts of northern England, perhaps over northern Ireland
01:15as well.
01:16Well, exactly where we're going to see those heavier pulses of rain, a bit uncertain.
01:20But nonetheless, through the evening, scattering of showers still across western parts and then rain, cloud and strengthening winds,
01:26initially across northern Ireland, but feeding across much of Scotland and some parts of northwest England and Wales through the
01:32early hours of Friday morning as well.
01:34Further south and east, staying dry, clear skies.
01:37As a result, it's going to be a fresher night than of late.
01:41Most built-up areas just about holding up in double digits, but rural areas will fall several degrees lower than
01:47this,
01:47and there could be a touch of mist and fog around first thing for some southern parts.
01:52A milder start to the day on Friday towards the northwest, but yes, it's cloudy, it's wet and it's windy.
01:58Some heavier pulses of rain then possible over some parts of southern Scotland, northern England,
02:03and then another pulse of heavier rain, perhaps pushing into parts of northern Ireland, later into western Scotland.
02:09We're talking maybe 50, 60 millimetres in some places, perhaps a bit more than that over the Cumberland Fells,
02:15possibly maybe 70 to 100 millimetres, worst case scenario through the bulk of Friday.
02:21And we do need to watch out for the strong gusty winds, 40, 50 miles per hour, even inland perhaps,
02:28though most places will see winds a little bit lighter than that.
02:32For the bulk of England and Wales, actually, it will be another fine day.
02:36Plenty of sunshine, especially towards the east, and temperatures similar to today,
02:41so again, getting towards the low 20s.
02:43Milder than this, or cooler than this, further north and west,
02:46and with the wind, the rain and the cloud, well, it's going to feel pretty unpleasant at times as well.
02:50The frontal feature does edge a little bit further south and eastwards later on Friday,
02:56so showery rain following in behind across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland,
02:59but not as unsettled as it will have been earlier on in the day,
03:02and then quite a cloudy, wet end to the day across northern parts of England and Wales,
03:07staying drier towards the southeast for now,
03:10but that rain is likely to bring a bit of a damp start to some southern parts on Saturday.
03:15But if you want to know more about the weekend's forecast,
03:17well, look out for our weekend weather update,
03:19which Claire Nazir will be bringing to you later on.
03:21Bye-bye.
