00:00My hair has always been a really big part of my identity.
00:02I feel like even in high school,
00:03there were so many Stephanie's in my class
00:05and people would refer to me as either my last name
00:08or Stephanie, the one with the really long hair.
00:10And I feel like anytime somebody describes me,
00:13they'll always start with the long hair.
00:15So I think it's definitely a big part of who I am
00:17and how I look and how I feel.
00:25My name's Justine Marjon
00:26and I'm a celebrity hairstylist in LA.
00:28I've been doing hair almost 20 years
00:31and I've been in LA for over 10 years now.
00:35I specialize in styling cuts and extensions.
00:39I will say my cutting specialty is cutting someone's hair off.
00:43So do not tell me you wanna cut your hair off around me
00:46because I will be the stylist that will actually do it.
00:48I work with Ashley Graham, Eva Longoria,
00:51and Khloe Kardashian, just to name a few.
00:54One of my favorite red carpets I've done
00:56has been Ashley Graham for the Met Ball.
00:58The Met Ball's like the Olympics for hair and makeup
01:01and wardrobe stylists.
01:03I think I've done her three or four Mets now
01:06and every single time it just gets better and better.
01:09Today I'm seeing Stephanie to give her
01:11a big transformational haircut.
01:14I'm Stephanie Montes.
01:15I'm a fashion and beauty editor and the founder of New.
01:18And today I'm getting the most major chop I've ever had in my life.
01:22Hi!
01:23Hello!
01:23Oh my gosh! Look at this hair! This is insane!
01:27My hair texture is similar and I've had hair as long as yours before so I get it.
01:32And also this is your pregnancy, your baby hair, right?
01:35I know. Yeah, right.
01:36Yeah, so we're ready to bring Stephanie back.
01:39I think it will help me look a little bit more polished and it's just at the length that it's
01:43at now
01:43it just isn't doing anything for me anymore.
01:45Totally.
01:46So I always kind of look at someone's face shape and think about what's going to be
01:49most flattering on them.
01:51So for you I'm thinking somewhere around here so like below the chin and then for face framing I do
01:58I would like to see this open up around your face because right now when we look at you you
02:03have so much hair
02:04it's like all hair and I think it'd be nice to kind of play with your features a little bit
02:09and open you up around your cheekbone.
02:11Okay, you ready?
02:13Yes.
02:14Okay, let's get started.
02:16So I'm looking to go under the scissors now because I'm kind of tired of looking like my
02:21same old self in a top knot and yoga pants. I can get away with kind of walking out with
02:27wet hair
02:28and just having this like beachy look but having it short I don't think I'm going to have that luxury
02:33so it's really going to force me to style my hair then maybe I'll throw in a red lip and
02:38then maybe I
02:38won't wear my yoga pants that day but also that's what makes me nervous is I'm really going to have
02:44to style it I am a mom of two I have a business so I don't have a whole lot
02:48of time to style my hair
02:49so it's going to be interesting.
02:51First I am going to section Stephanie's hair into four sections then we're going to go ahead and
02:58cut right above the elastic so we can save those strands so she could donate.
03:03Oh my god I think I'm in shock.
03:05Then I'm going to spray her hair with water so that it's nice and damp then I'm sectioning the back
03:11first and we're going to cut the perimeter of her haircut I will just repeat this on every section
03:17until we have the length even throughout at this point I'll go in and add some layers and I like
03:24to use my shears for this and I might point cut a little bit and then I'm going to do
03:29the face framing
03:30now I'm adding the Fenty hair the protective type this is a five-in-one styler that I love to
03:35use before
03:36I blow dry. Stephanie has coarse hair so this will be great to help smooth the hair and give a
03:42lot of
03:42shine and volume while I'm blow drying. I really want to make sure her ends wrap around the round
03:48brush so we get as much volume as possible. Haircuts in LA can range from the triple digits upwards to
03:54two thousand dollars. With postpartum hair loss I do recommend getting a haircut because the ends can
04:00look kind of fine or straggly so getting a fresh haircut can just help the new growth to grow in
04:07and give you a more even base for the rest of your hair. The secret to styling the perfect big
04:13chop
04:13is definitely to be realistic about what your hair homework is so I'm going to teach Stephanie how to
04:20style her own hair and it really depends on your own texture. So I'm donating my hair to locks of
04:25love
04:25today I need to give them at least 10 inches and I chose to do this because I've had my
04:30own health
04:30issues over the summer I've had breast issues in the past luckily everything was cleared things came
04:36out benign but then it started making me think about all the other people that didn't get the good
04:40news that I got and if there's anybody that I could help make them feel more beautiful or more human
04:46or
04:46more just themselves it's just a small little gift that I can give somebody. And now time for the big
04:54reveal
04:57it's so hot you look sexy really yeah that's what I was afraid of I feel like with the long
05:02hair
05:03it's easier to feel like I don't know if it's more feminine I feel like this looks like the reference
05:09that
05:09you showed me where it's like volume and like hot and imagine if you had like a big chunky earring
05:16it does feel very like fashion I'm a little nervous as to how I'm gonna recreate the styling
05:22do you blow dry your hair ever? I do and I use like a round brush literally just go through
05:28your
05:28hair and brush it just get the ends curled yeah I wouldn't worry too much about doing anything else
05:33and then we could just flip it around all I did was a round brush blow dry like I didn't
05:36even end up
05:37going in with hot tools like I thought I would your hair takes the shape with a round brush really
05:41well
05:41oh my god this is major oh I like that direction I do think it is going to change everything
05:47about
05:48how I dress how I like do my makeup how I you know even like wake up and my routine's
05:55gonna be
05:55different totally but initially I do really love it I feel like you look so fashionable like you look
06:01like the french girl you know like the cool girls so it's going in the bag going to locks of
06:07love
06:09I did love it so I hope they love it too I'm pretty sure when I get home the kids
06:14are either not going
06:15to recognize me or approach me in a weird way they'll probably want to touch my hair so I am
06:22most excited to show them I think I was mentioning that I hadn't had my glow up yet and I
06:28kind of felt
06:29like I still had the same look I had in high school and even before then so I think having
06:34this
06:34transformation really already kind of makes me feel like I'm stepping into a new version of myself which
06:40is really exciting to watch more videos like this subscribe here
