00:22I haven't always been comfortable with my natural hair.
00:25I definitely have flat ironed it out, pressed it out,
00:29but nowadays I'm very comfortable.
00:31I think especially for me as a black woman,
00:34like hair is a very big part of our identity,
00:36and it's a big part of how we represent ourselves in the world.
00:39So I think it's time to finally do something
00:42I've been wanting to do for a very long time.
00:45The most exciting thing I think that can come out of today

00:50There's just been so much sameness this last year,

01:05an embarrassing picture of when I tried to relax it,
01:08and that did not go well, and so I never did that again.
01:11But I've gone through short.

01:15I've been blue with a little bit of light blue.
01:17I've been black with blonde.
01:19I've tried to do like a little punky rock situation.
01:22We've been all over the world, so.
01:25I definitely want to show this look to my husband.

01:29you're going to have a whole new, like, woman.
01:32This is going to be like, you get the wife,
01:34and then you're going to get the girlfriend when I come home.
01:35It's going to be really funny to see how he reacts to it.
01:38There are a couple different celebrity inspirations.
01:41Like, Rihanna did like this blonde shag back in the day
01:45that was just so edgy and hot.
01:48And recently, I saw Melanie Fiona get her hair colored blonde,
01:52and she looked beautiful.
01:53And so after that, I was like,
01:55OK, I'm not waiting anymore.

02:02Today, I'm going to make Paige Platinum Blonde from Scalp to Ends.
02:05I am best known for blonding curls with zero damage.
02:08I do a ton of different curly girls, mostly color.
02:11I do brunettes and blondes.
02:13I do some redheads as well.
02:15Curls mean everything.
02:16It's all about diversity and being yourself and embracing yourself.
02:19You know, everyone has their own curl pattern and their own texture,
02:22so I think it's just really fun to embrace whatever you have.

02:44My main concern is that I'm just worried about my curl pattern.
02:48I do wear my hair straight and curly, but I'm worried about that.
02:51I'm worried it's going to fall out.
02:52I doubt that will happen.
02:54You ready to get started?
02:55Yes.
02:57Okay, let's get started.
02:59First, I will have my assistant, Drape Paige,
03:01so we don't get any color on her clothes.
03:03I'm going to brush out her curls to help product saturation.
03:08Sometimes when applying color on curly hair, you can misstep in product saturation.
03:15I'm going to section her hair from front to back in three sections.
03:20I'm going to start at the nape of her head and work in paper-thin sections,
03:24applying bleach in 20 volume.
03:29I'm going to keep the lightener about a half an inch off of her scalp
03:32because the heat of her scalp will process that section faster.
03:40I'm going to continue up the entire head using the same form until every strand of hair is saturated.
03:48I will then go through and apply bleach in 20 volume to the rest of her scalp
03:53and allow to process until that reaches a pale yellow as well.
04:01Once the entire head reaches a pale yellow, I'm going to pull all of the foils out and rinse with
04:06cool water.
04:13I'm then going to apply Olaplex No. 3 and brush through and let sit for about 10 minutes.
04:21I'm then going to mix an Alpha Parf Milano demi-permanent color, half clear and half 10.02
04:29and apply a scalp to ends. I'm going to let process for 10 minutes.
04:38I'm going to rinse and then start styling.
04:41In small sections on very wet hair, I'm going to apply a Ouida gel
04:47and brush through each section with a Denman brush
04:51to ensure that her curls form smooth and frizz-free.
04:57I'm then going to diffuse until she is completely dry.
